A slight correction, Chakra *does* scale. It uses the same formula as other healing skills/spells. But Monk's Magic stat is so abysmal you wouldn't see much increase of their healing power.
Yeah. For a Monk only run, that's a bad skill. In a normal run, something like Mystic Knight might make good use of it, at least until Drain Sword is available.
I suppose in a run with Monk, Black Mages, and no other healing classes, Chakra could be useful as a healing tool on Black Mages if you do not smash rods on party members that absorb the corresponding elemental magic?
I’ve done 4 Bards, Blue Mages, Thieves, Berserkers. Berserker was grueling, requiring level 45 for Sandworm and level 96 to beat Exdeath. Bard is really hard in world 1, especially the Adamantoise, then it’s easy. Thief can just steal Elixers and High Potions. I’d love to see another video with Bard and Berserker! Edit: I actually beat Omniscient with Berserkers. I think I had two with mage mashers to silence and another with…I think the chicken knife? I left the game on while I went to work. At some point, they beat him. I had tried 3 Mage Mashers for 8 hours and they were not able to win. One Berserker fights the Minotaur.
kaiser knuckles really should have been a weapon. Really would have helped out the monk's late game some. Also unfair they don't get a legendary weapon because of it.
The all-mime challenge ought to be interesting. Freelancer through most of the game, then mimes with no skills other than mimic? Curious to see how you'll do it
I recently started working my way through the Pixel Remasters, I finished 5 for the first time last week. Wow, did I miss a ton of optional content. When the ship got pulled into the final dungeon, I didn't even try to leave. Gonna have to replay it when I finish 6.
Found this video randomly in my feed, loved it & subbed🎉🎉🎉 cannot wait for other job runs. I played FF5 PR beginning of the year on 100% on PS5 and it was so much fun 😁 lots of greetings from Germany!
Wes, I remember when you said that it can be super disappointing to have a video you spend hours on (or days, with the pokemon one) not be received too well. That said, I'm glad this one is performing so well as you kindly remind us that you're not a Dark Souls youtuber. Keep up the brilliant work. I'll put FF5 on my list of games to check out before I die of old age.
imagine the power of high level monks with kaiser knuckles and rapid fire from archer. :D perhaps that setup on "bare" is good because of all the stacked stat buff's from mastered jobs.
@@BacklogBuster true if you half your damage by accidentally attacking back row enemies its all good. when they are dead from the damage the front row enemies fall really fast. I noticed the power of this strat when comparing the damage output to duel-wielding and rapidfiring the maxed out brave blade and ragnarok which is the strongest swords. in short monk is essentially for being the DPS king.
Honestly love FFV since it's so open for Challenge Run options. Best part of the job system? All jobs can complete the game, granted at varying level of difficulties. Even with only 1 character being used. Well...except for 1 job.
Mhmm. Berserker is long but doable. The worst one is going to be white mage only I just know it. Right up until the Fork Tower, but until then its nightmare fuel.
I've done Four Job Fiesta runs with multiple Berserkers and yeah, Byblos is a grind-wall for damage-dealers. So is Liquid Flame, for Berserkers anyway, so I often come out of the fire-powered ship around level 19 :/ I think !Chakra is based on your Stamina stat? And since stats don't increase in FF5 and Monk has the best Stamina in the game anyway, it'll never scale. I'm sure you know what's what, but I always take advantage of Butz's hometown discount to buy a fat stack of tents. Not as strong as cottages, but 1000hp and 100mp per tent isn't bad for the price. Weird, my brain was sure there was a Kaiser Knuckles in the pyramid. Turns out they're a drop from a monster-in-a-box only encounter. Not really something you can farm in this challenge run. The choice between Kaiser Knuckles and Hermes' Sandals is one of the meanest things FF5 ever does. I've run Omniscient out of MP once, but only with an emulators turbo-speed. I'm not recommending it, because single-class challenges are already grindy enough. Just pointing out that there's an enemy in the Wind Shrine that drops elixirs. Sorry for any/everything you already know and just didn't mention. Thanks for making this thing happen, it's not an easy run!
its funny because ever since i first played, monk has been one of my favorite classes in final fantasy v(and later, tactics). it gets some really fun support abilities. bare handed on a caster is probably one of the most usefull abilities for them, as it lets them deal some damage without the need for investing much. and chakra is very good on classes that do have some amount of magic in them. hp+30% is ALWAYS amazing as well.
For future runs, could you use the elemental rods as attack items for the mage tower boss? They cast 3rd tier magic. I don't think you have to equip them either, but they do break after being used that way
Surprised to see nobody pointed out that the solution for Omniscient is Bone Mail. A character wearing a Reflect Ring and Bone Mail is completely immune to omniscient and will kill him with his own reversed drains well before his MP runs out. Nearly any class can do it,this boss is free outside of robe-only classes.
Reflect and Regen are in Omnicients magic rotation. He'll hit himself, and your party with regen eventually. I've done Omnicient like 3 or 4 times running himself out of MP. He never comes close to taking himself out.
@@BacklogBuster Regen may have slipped my mind,so it's not pure immunity, but it's been my experience that it never stands up to the healing you get from the drain reversal. The one-man Reflect Mail is my go-to strategy for running this in Four Job Fiesta without magic, but the correct strategy is whichever one that gets you there in the end.
Confuse effects can get you most of those, and blue mage has two ways to do it. It might take a bit of luck but I brought everything but Transfusion to NED.
I did inflict Berserk on Omniscient to make him stop using magic (my red mage hit him with the Power Staff), but I can't remember if it stopped him from casting Return in response to my geomancer's attacks. By way of explanation: I was trying a challenge run with a deliberately weak team, consisting of a monk, red mage, geomancer, and dancer. The monk and dancer, Bartz and Faris, did the physical side of Fork Tower, leaving the other two on the magic side. I was very disappointed that !Terrain classifies as a physical move; Krile was pretty much useless there.
Im like 99% sure he uses return after using the lamp. Most melee jobs also have a terrible magic stat so even if it worked, you probably wouldnt kill him before you're out of lamp charges,
So, I bought FFV PR because of your series and decided to play around with Cheat Engine. I somehow managed to get !Kick onto Knight and Mystic Knight. I equipped Two-Handed as an ability and realized what a broken mess I made. Surprisingly, the animation wasn't broken. That being said, !Kick is apparently back-row OK and deals non-elemental physical damage, regardless of what Magic Sword you have buffed your weapon with. I think the devs might have made the right choice for making !Kick not learnable. By the time I got a Mythril Sword (stolen from Ice Soldiers), I was doing 400-500 damage to all enemies per !Kick. It's the most hilarious thing ever. XD
@@BacklogBuster I was just curious if you shot this content two years ago. Like maybe over the course of two years you completed the challenge and now are just posting them back to back?

@DiogoJ1 Mystic Knight only offers +1 to their Magic stat. At least it's still better than Monk's -23 penalty to it though.
So Chakra on some sort of mage ends up being a pretty decent free heal?
@@jamesmayo9533 Technically speaking, yes. Except that you can just pick other, more useful abilities instead

If you only knew in PR version focus does full damage from back row. (so does Dance btw) Could have saved a lot of potions and time switching rows.
