At 1:20, there is a strap that attaches to the earpiece backplate. Does anyone know what is it called and what is it for? Mine broke when trying to get it around the lcd chip and I cannot find a replacement.

Remove this cable *disconnects the volume buttons flex* so you can disconnect the battery

I was going to refurb my own 6s by buying an icloud locked one on ebay and swapping out the mainboard, now this seems way too complicated to do.

lmfao tearing down is easy the issue is putting it back together properly. Using a microscope is required for faster assembly due to the small screws and ports. Good video by the way simple and fast.

You should go back to him and ask for double-checking. Maybe the battery flex cable is loose for connection or the motherboard flex is misconnected.
