This is honestly one of the best tutorials I have seen on UA-cam. It's well explained so everyone can understand it.
And guys, to those afraid of doing this, don't be. It looks scary but if you focus and take your time it isn't!
Just did this. Thanks for the tutorial. Phone looks great in full green and black with green glass. I will say, there are steps that need to be addressed if you are trying to do this to your iphones. Take note, as mentioned by many others, the strip cables are really ON there. Use a heat gun or slowly pry it with a very small flat head like I did. Go slow, pull lightly. Believe it or not, there are a little harder to break than you may think. ALSO, very important: The colored buttons that come with the backing DO NOT work just by replacing them with the current ones. You MUST take off those metal flaps off the old buttons and transfer/apply them to the new buttons. ALSO, you must transfer the VERY small piece of metal (circle) that is under the button that directly comes into contact with the strip cable. This closes the very tiny gap between the button and the strip cable and it will make the button work. Without it, the button will not click properly, or at all. It also comes with a new slice/sound button (the one above the volume buttons). This can be taken off pretty easily if you look at it closely. This can be done, hell I did it, and i dont consider myself to be very good at these things, just be patient and a stickler for detail.
The only 3 things to keep in mind
-Keep screws neat and in order ( i drew the piece on a paper with circles indicating where the screws went and placed the screws in the circles.) A place mat if you will.
- Strip cables are a bitch go slow, pull lightly, pry with something, like in the video.
- If you are planning on transferring the buttons as well, you must gut the button from the phone and replace all pieces onto the new button. VERY EASY TO LOSE these pieces
Good luck
fuzzy fuzzyjems how many bits do you need for the whole process did you buy a set on ebay or somthing? And what sizes if you dont mind me asking
Thanks for the info man! I can't wait to make my iPhone look new again! :)
Just finished this. Mum had a bent and dented housing and decided to fix it for her on Mother’s Day. Here’s how it went:
If you are not familiar with phones and how they are built, I would not strongly recommend doing this. I have repaired multiple phone screens and done multiple battery replacements so I am familiar with the inside of a phone.
Before you do ANYTHING, make sure you download and print out a screw map/diagram. Keep your screws on the diagram as you disassemble it. It is VERY easy to lose and mix up the screws, so make sure you have them organised and know exactly what goes where.
One thing that really pissed me off and made the job so much harder and longer were the battery pull tabs. These almost ALWAYS break and it’s such a pain to get the battery out without damaging it. Expect to use tweezers and fishing line to cut out the adhesive.
Apart from that there’s not much more I can say, it’s a difficult and time consuming process. Attempt this at your own risk.
I now have a happy mum :)
do u know any websites where i can get free screw map/diagrams from?
This video is great. after watching this video a few times it looks less difficult but you one must keep track of where all the small parts go.
I'm alright, I'll stick with my scratched iPhone xD
MyUnboxingsAndFun yeah man same XD
yepp same i changed my mind, i’ll be fine with my scratched iphone also.
Dex Delevine one of mt friend change his iphone body and then wify bluetooth is not working properly
real men risk it
Great video. Very detailed, no talking just awesome instrumental. Love it.
Screw this screw.
It took me around 5h but I did it. Im very glad. Thanks for posting this video I helped my a lot.
Fantastic video, loved the quality and how thorough you were. However you need to remove the battery flex cable prior to removing the LCD flex cables or you may cause a short circuit.
Please keep up your hard work
I love this woman's tiny perfectly manicured hands. They make it all look so reasonable.
With my much larger, rough and not well manicured hands it is still possible and I just completed switching my phone's guts to a new straight case with a new battery, screen, LCD, Digitizer and a few other little things. Works great again.
Thank you for the the video!
This is a good instructional guide. I followed along and I only have one problem, being that my camera doesn't focus in as close as it used to.
After seeing the video i hv decided not to do this by myself ever. Hard sh*t
Puneet Sharma go cell phone repair's video is a full 1 1/2 hour guide if you need one. It's really detailed and helps. Also if it's to hard for you just hire someone for 20$
HAHAHA :D
Changed my mind
MolliRae didnt we all?
+Caio Soares I'm thinking I'll buy it and then take it to a place in the mall and let them switch it. Might cost $50 extra tho ughhh
Horayy!!! now I have all black iPhone 6 instead of a white and gold!
+SlenderPlaysMC (SlenderPlaysMC) i changed the whole lcd
+Rafli Putra (SoundBlastMC) was it hard for you to do?
+Rafli Putra (SoundBlastMC) either he night a sticker or he replaced the home button. But if he did replace the home button than he would lose the finger print capability. Every motherboard can only function with one home button.
Andy does it fit ? If my phone was black and i change ghe screen into gold ?
changed power input and battery with the help of this video, the battery caugth alight and sparked but was all good in the end ,smiles and hard ons all round ;-) i am a happy punter.
the trick is remember what screws came from what hole and take your time
Thanks man I dit it and it even works fine. But I had to watch it several times. I'm not a phone expert but somehow I managed to do it. Keep in mind take a picture of the screws and the prices before you unscrew.
thankyou so much.. just because of you... i got my iphone6 128gb saved✌️
Thank you for this video, it really helped me. I replaced my iPhone 6 housing to iPhone 7 style housing. Everything works great except the rear camera. Might be because of the housing, because the camera hole is slightly repositioned.
That suction clamp looks like it could be made at home by gluing suction cups to a stapler
why is this video is sooooo hypnotizing. good music choice. sound like something from gta vice city
Wow, those are a lot of tiny parts. I took a Galaxy S4 apart, and it was pretty much the motherboard with a few extra attached to it. I appreciate my iPhone a lot more now
From previous experience! Remove the battery terminal cable first. While the screen is in the 90 degrees angle. Saves the motherboard from electrical damage, and shorting out.
Lovey video you've made! This is makin it so Much easier for people to do this then selfs
Thanks for your appreciation!
Took me 37 mins to fix it 💪🏼 great video dude
That's great!
Thank you for the tutorial. Replaced the whole rear on my iphone 6.
+luis Luis Shoot do mines. lol. I'm afraid to open my phone and i just watch the whole video while thinking h*** naw, oohhh wait, you might break that.
this is helpful to me thank you..........................
Thanks! follow your tutorial and everything works perfectly!
That's great, thanks for your kindly feedback.
Wit Rigs Does this work for the iPhone 6 Plus?
Matt Shaw all phones
Was gonna refurbish an iPhone 6 I got for $40, broken home button, battery last for 2 minutes, and mild dents. Now after seeing all the very tiny parts that I thought would have all came out in one price is making me decided whether or not I want to try this...
Very clear , Love it.
This is an amazing tutorial! Very precise thank you so much!
Great video. Bravo
only thing i would add, is you should disconnect the battery before removing the screen connectors.
great video i will be customizing my iphone 6 plus now i did before back when i had the iphone 3g
Missed a few things like speaker gauze, charger spacer and also put the side bits in the wrong way round. Apart from that nice and easy!
Doesn't look too bad, will defo give it a try
Great video. Thinking about using this so I can replace my gold housing for a rose gold one
Rock'ca Holic am doing the same to my gold one
@@rudramadhabroutray lol I'm doing the opposite
Nice video, but not forget the small label/stick under the SIM card place, otherwise you can not get the SIM card holder out...with the Sim tool...!!
I'll Do This After I Buy A New Iphone😄
Just In case If I Accidentally Break It When I Replace The Housing.
Thanks For The Tutorial
I spent almost 3 hours replacing my iPhone 6's housing. Unfortunately, the vibrator somehow won't work any more. Except that, everything is okay!! I am gonna buy another vibrator and replace it.
Some of the accompanying choice of tunes would give one a headache, but what an exquisite tune to work to, like something from "The Thomas Crown Affair". A pleasure watching a master at work! Cheers!
what about pictures after changed cover...?
Thanks for this tutorial, took me almost 2 hours but it worked out perfectly, it took me so long because i didnt want to f*ck something up!:P Thanks!
+Dennis Koopman Was this your first time replacing housing? I fix broken screens but want to give this a shot for the first time.
+Edgar Trigos yes it was the first time doing this, Just take your time and dont rush it. Keep everything clean and organized so you wont have any screws left
Did you have problems with your wifi and carrier signal? Apparently it makes your phones forever "searching" for its carrier and wifi is very weak? Can you let me know cause I've already ordered it and wanna get it right
+Dennis Koopman
wifi / carrier signal work just as before.
Woah this looks so tricky just to replace the back plate omg O:
Ahhh yeah no thanks. Thank you for making the video. It convinced me that it's way more than i care to take on lol.
Thank you I appreciate it 👍🏾
Thank you :-) I did it... 9mins? No way! 1,5h :-)
awesome video explaining step by step
i did this and icloud lock removed omg thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Plorules Are you telling me that changing a case unlocked the icloud lock?
So if i have a iclould locked phone this would unlock it???
+MindLukas changing the motherboard i guess is what fixed it not really sure but it worked
+binky981 it would be set up as a new iphone like u just bought it
+Plorules well thats something else then
hellow!! i am from switzerland, and i love your video !! its so easi with your video, i have make my iphone self and look's great!!
thanks so much, very helpfull video
xMotherFucker Glad to help you.
this video is really helpful but can you put the size chart of screws? I need to know all of them. I mixed them and have no idea how to figure it out now
+CiniK - OSI you can find the exact size in the products www.witrigs.com/screw-driver-for-iphone-3g-3gs, www.witrigs.com/best-torx-screw-driver-green-for-iphone-4, you will use this kind of tool.
Please do iPhone 6s housing replacement
Don't be scared people. Of course its a risk that something can go wrong because of ALOT of steps. But be very calm, sort everything out, i use small plastic bags for every section part, and mark them. I did this successfully,. but it took be some hours! Remember to transfer the old home button if you replace the front screen as well. If not, the fingerprint sensor will not function. The home button is paired to the logic board, and can not be reprogrammed to use another button.
Well im going for it . I need to figure out where I can get new adhesive stickers for the battery. Also I noticed that when you were puttting everything back in it was the same backing. Is there any type of adhesive that will keep the mother board etc stuck on the back or is there no need for that please get back to me on this lol
lol, "screw this screw" we probably dont need those screws right? XD , but as always this is an amazing video, but somehow it turned out a little blurry, but thats probably on youtubes side.. Thank You for your effort!
Perfect music for the tedious work! Btw where do you go to get your screens replacements?
Thanks for the concise video.
One error: you never reinstalled the SIM card and tray...
Hmmm, doesnt seem to mention anything about removing the spot welded metal components e.g. the metal clip around the camera lens or the power button array onto the metal retainer bar.
I shouldve bought a rear chassis that came with these things already done I guess :/
whats an efficient way to manage and not mix up all the different screws?
Thank you so much , I have a very nice phone now
Great vid and nice tune !
Nice tutorial, but I have a question. If a replace my rear housing will it keep all the things I had on my old phone.
+Lord Sparkle Bottom yes bro just make sure to power of your phone first second disable your battery and then everything shut stay in your phone memory but you better take a bakup before you do this
Very complete tutorial,easy fo follow
Thx
Thanks for feedback.
Its look like simple and easy but its hard for me because my anxiety heating me again
Yeah that battery does not come off as simple as it does here.. zzzz
mine caught fire lol serious it did but it was ok in the end
i saw an ebay listing of an iphone 6 motherboard and it does'nt look like this one
Then it's probably fake, don't buy it.
@Andy Leonidas You and Callan are a pathetic excuse of a "person". Go shove your scam where the sun doesn't shine.
Excellent tutorial many thanks :)
What is the purpose of sticky strips you put on battery for. Is it possible to buy them, are they necessary.
Great, exact vid!
素晴らしい fantastic! I'll try!
Is this tutorial same for the 6s
Amazing!! Thanks a lot!!
thx man.... really handy video
can someone please list a full list with all iphone 6s parts including screws ?
i changed my mind. i'll just stay with lot of scratches and dents😄
So nice and detail video. Even hands are beautiful 😀
Brilliant -Thank you!
Perfect video
Arent you always supposed to disconnect the battery first ? 1st step of every disassembly ever
Too many failures to do this fix lol, if you are not sure don't do it 😅
AZR. OH IM SURE ILL DO PERFECTLY
This makes it look so easy but I'm the type of guy to fuck it up, how long do you think it'll take me (being a noobie)?
Yes I have a 6 plus and the first time I went without a case on my phone dropped it and have 3 dings on the corners of my housing there those lil scuffed imprints I'm trying to find an oem back housing and then just replace by following your video any advice as to what I need or what I should do would be awesome
+John Douglas You need to tear down the phone and remove all the internal parts, just be careful not to break other parts like screen. Here are some tips:
1. Don’t mix up screws. They are different in length.
2. Clean camera lens before installing rear camera.
3. There is a wired Phillips screws securing the motherboard which is marked by blue circle in video. You can undo it by a 2.0mm flathead screwdriver.
You may also need some repair tools like:
1. Suction cup clamp - bit.ly/1Mbid2L
2. Pentalobe screwdriver - bit.ly/1KwqUJu
3. Phillips screwdriver - bit.ly/1ANtwYq bit.ly/1BNDNcw
4. Spudger - bit.ly/1zlSaEG
5. Tweezers - bit.ly/1BpXgzq
To finish the reassembly work, you also need:
Battery sticker: www.witrigs.com/oem-battery-sticker-for-iphone-6
Thanks for this! Such a big help :))
You only need 3 bit sizes? The ifixit guide has like 6 different sizes and i dont want to not have the right size i need but i also dont want to buy a big screwdriver set for nothing
If I were to do this on an iPhone with a shattered screen, how much more difficult would it be? The repair shop said they couldn't fix it because the rear housing was bent.
+SweetDream669 You need to check whether rear housing bent or not, if it bent, it is really difficult to install new screen, even it is impossible to install new screen.
thank you verymuch
Thanks great video
thanks my friend for you beautiful video
i have an iPhone 6s and got the housing replaced or a 24t gold one. When they put it back together it doesn't switch on and when it is in charge it just goes from the white apple screen to black continuously. Do you have any idea what the problem might be? they said it is the battery and i should buy a new one and have it replaced.
Could you do one of these for the 6s plus? Or know of a video? Thanks.
thank you
Cool Video
in my case, my phone fell on stirs and had to change the screen and it presses keys on its own most time and it stays still like frozen if i press the top of the phone (close to the front camera) it works fine don't really know if its the housing thought its the screen but tried on 3different screen same result.. any advise ?
Can I really do this for first time?
I have a question I got new volume buttons and power buttons and they do not have the rubber things and the little bar in back or Idk what it's called do I have to transfer it to the other buttons?
Yeah, you have to, and make sure the new buttons also have a sensor. The little silver circle in the back of the button.
I'm assuming this is the same for the 6s?
do you think there is enough room to put a thin metal plate behind the battery for a magnetic phone mount? it is approx .02" thick
perfect worked great for me thanks a lot :)
You are welcome :)
Best thing go to eBay and get fixed parts back plate
Whats the cable with two screw holes on each end next to the camera on the right side? Mines gone i think its effecting my service
can I be expecting a iphone 7 tutorial soon
Yes, of course, it is coming soon.
Fuck it I'm doing this no matter what. Got new screen and casing. Phone is going to at least look brand new until the 8 comes out. I loves the 6. Best phone I've had. Parts are too cheap to upgrade to a 7.
Ok. I think I’m just going to stick to my broken screen iphone lmfao
