    I love your "Shave Gear of the Year" videos. A must watch every year, and I review the previous gear of the year videos before I make a purchase, or when deciding what might be best to try. Thank you Nick!

    Just starting out with wet shaving and your videos have been a tremendous help. Honestly, thanks a bunch. Watched your best of the year videos and was wondering, besides your individual favorites you have listed, any chance for an all time top 3 of each category type video? Thanks again and good luck with your interviews if you're still doing them.

    This was very informative. I make soap and was thinking of a shaving soap. I also appreciate your knowledge of scents and your ability to differentiate the various notes. I will be referring back to this videos and will check out others. Thank you so much!

    Great video Nick 👍 Some people say there is no difference between dyed and blonde boar bristles, but my brand new Semogue 620 is definitely softer and less scrubby than my 1 year old Semogue 610.

    oui c'est vrai j'ai rockwell 6c et je ne le regrette pas, il est super avec ses 6 règlages de hauteur de lame, avec ce rasoir, il faut l'acheter en premier et après plus besoin d'en acheter d'autre !

    I tried Reef Point's Earl Grey and Ginger. It's a really damn fine soap. I'm still a huge, dedicated fan of Wholly Kaw's vegan line of soaps. They're amazing! Fast and easy to work with and they give a smooth slick shave, plus my skin is left moist and cared for afterward. Impressive!

    Great 2017 wrap, as usual. You were the first video reviewer I watched several years ago and still my favorite. Anyone else out there think of Fine as being a production level product and not all that Artisan? Wish you had featured a more truly artisan aftershave. But Fine is a great product. Thanks for doing all this!

    Can you make a tutorial on how high to shave up on the sideburns? Sometimes I shave too high, sometimes too low, and sometimes one sideburn is longer than the other.

    Great list. I've waited long for this video to come out. Rockwell 6C is on my price range since I'm a cheap kind of guy as I wouldn't buy stuff that's out of budget. Synthetic brushes are definitely brushes that I could really buy if I want to buy a shaving brush. Tabac is on my wishlist for soaps to buy. Blades are very subjective since they work differently for everyone. However, I'll incluude the Feather blades on my blade sampler pack. Other than that, great list so far

    Love the Rockwell C. It has replaced my 34c as my go to razor. I’m going to look into the razor Rock silver tip. I got cheap badger brushed amazon and didn’t enjoy it all all I’ve been want something of better quality but brushed like the simpsons are above what I want to spend.

    Great video . I am using my merkur 38c . ( different blades ) My Capt Fawcett super badger brush. And I got some Nightbridge shave cream . It is made in England. I love it . I finish off with the nivia after shave balm. Keep up the great videos . Thanks .

    Maan I've learned so much from your videos. I just wonder how frequently do you shave so your skin won't get irritated? And are you a night shaver or morning? I just got my Merkur 34c and I wonder what time would it take for a smooth skin, as cartridge razors irritate my neck really bad and still cant get off of ingrown hair, not much but still.

    Synthetic brushes are lather MONSTERS, too. They're also cheap, easy buy in. If you forget a Razorock Plissoft in some distant hotel you were vacationing at, no worries. I think they're only like $6 or $8 dollars to replace ;)

    • @CMHobbies

      jmr5707 Indeed. The only time I’m not as big on them is when the soap is uber thirsty. For me the thirstiest soaps perform best with natural hair since they retain water.

    Nick, I really appreciate your very informative UA-cam channel and, in particular, your annual recommendations. Thanks to you, I recently switched to the Merkur 34C DE safety razor and in only a few days I've noticed a considerable improvement in the quality of my shaves. Unbelievably smooth results with no nicks or razor burn with my usual Astra Premium blades, though I'm considering Personnas based on your recommendation. The Barrister & Mann Spice is a top quality soap but I'm still trying to dial-in that perfect lather (any suggestions?) before I try their much touted Seville. Thanks again, Nick, and all the best.

    Rockwell should make a short handle for their razors. I have the ATT Atlas and this handle combined with the Rockwell 6S and 6C is amazing! Don't get me wrong, the original handle is excellent, but if you are like me and prefer a shorter handle, this works really well.

    Hey Nick is the 6s noticeably more aggressive than the 6c due to weight? I find myself doing a beard off if I miss shaving for 2 days so for that task I need the aggression but if they are similar for the price can't beat 6c.

    muhle r41, astra , proraso, muhle fibre
    i think wet shaving is prone to more irritations and cuts compared to cartridge style
    but more efficient regarding how one can apply the cream with the brush, wide variety of blades and soaps
    also, wet shaving is like a ritual compared to cartridge shaving which is more a routine

    • @buddhamack1491
      @buddhamack1491 6 років тому

      Petru B. You're doing it wrong then. Remember that it's a process that shouldn't be rushed. Using quality items and products helps. I have far less cuts and irritation after switching to safety razors. Try getting a more mild razor like a vintage Gillete slim adjustable that you can tune to a setting that isn't so aggressive.

    What's better the merkur futur or the Rockwell razor? For me the best synthetic brush is the razorock plissoft it's low priced and just as good as the original plisson and more balanced than the kong I think it's called. As for blades what mild/smooth blade outside of derby do you recommend? Lastly for you what's better tabac, arko, or cella?

      @Johnny-kq5wc 6 років тому

      OK, I have them both and to me, sorry to say I seem to get a slightly better shave from my Merkur. It could be the angle, but again, it's just for me. It's also nice to be able to adjust without taking the blade and plate off. I like Voskhod or even a Lord Stainless for a good combo of a sharp and smooth, blade.Tabac > Arko > Cella.....

    • @T-R.e.x
      @T-R.e.x 6 років тому

      I prefer Yaqi synthetic over plissoft.
      Tabac-Cella-Arko it is for me.
      Gillette Silver Blue or Nacet for me also.
      And I agree, the Rockwell is better that Futur. Cheaper and more controlled razor, very safe on the face. Buy one.... yesterday!

    • @QuickQuips
      @QuickQuips 6 років тому

      1. Can't comment.
      2. Try Yaqi synthetics too.
      3. Go to tryablade if you're in the US and try them all. Mild is relative. Personna works well too.
      4. Tabac is practical. Look into Soap Commander too if you want a long lasting practical soap. Stirling unscented too.

    Feathers are OK, but they don't last longer than other blades, and the additional sharpness doesn't justify the higher price. For those who need ultimate sharpness at any cost, this is the choice; otherwise, it's not worth it.

    • @jonathanfontenot4174

      Edward Miles they provide the closest shave per pass vs any other blade that why u pay a little more

    • @edwardmiles6513
      @edwardmiles6513 6 років тому +1

      I agree, but the problem is that after two passes the difference is negligible, and after three virtually non-existent. For better or worse, I have a beard that no razor-blade combination on earth can do effectively in one pass. (Believe me, I've tried.)

      I can only use them in the mildest razors and I still get neck irritation. The second and the third shaves are better than the first, then the fourth is awful. I toss after three.

      Yeah, Treets are a good way to get sharpness for cheap. The Blacks are super affordable, and the Platinums are my bang for buck.
