Hearing “My skin is cleaned out, hydrated, and ready to go” is like watching Mr. Rogers routinely swap his jacket for his indoor cardigan. Welcome back!
I have a 1960 Gillette Fatboy adjustable that was my dads and it is my favorite safety razor. Although I try different blades so far I like the Gillette Wilkerson blades and I use setting 3 for my face. When I was still shaving with a cartridge razor shaving was a chore but since I transitioned back to safety razors shaving is now an enjoyable experience.
Two years ago at my family’s Christmas gathering, we were searching through some of my grandparents belongings. My dad sat down with a box of stuff he had picked out and began going through it. One of the last things he pulled out was a Gillette Slim from the late 60’s, most likely the last razor my grandfather ever owned (he passed away in ‘77). I immediately claimed it (none of my family uses safety razors) and have used it ever since and would have to agree %100 that Gillette’s designs-especially their adjustable models- are top notch and clearly last forever in the right hands. Since I never got to meet my grandpa, I’ll always cherish this razor, as it provides some sort of connection to him that otherwise I wouldn’t ever have.
Congratulations on your first child Nick. The wet shaving world isn't the same without you. Regarding the head, Mantic59 contacted Gillette and they confirmed Muhle made the heads. Most likely their R89 heads. The box is cool though
Man, it’s been so long. I was researching safety razors and straight razors to start with when the last video was released. I love using my razors and got my dad into them.
Your channel was a reference when I first started wet shaving back in 2013 alongside the launch of your channel. I'm so glad to see you putting out content again. My wife and I just had our first son a month ago and I'm already dreaming of the day I get to introduce him to wet shaving.
Echo the others here... great to see you back Nick! Found your channel 3yrs ago and became a wet shaver because of watching you. Converted my brother in law and old boss. We’ve definitely missed you. Glad to hear life is going well for you and the family.
Id like to see some maintenance videos. Should we disassemble our razer every time after shaving and clean it? How often should we scrub off the soap scum build up? Ideal way of storing everything. Should the blade always be taken out when not being used? That sort of stuff.
Nick, I'm usually not one to comment on UA-cam but I must say it's great to see you back. Your vids were the first ones I watched when I started wet shaving and oddly most of the products that worked well for you, seemed to do the same for me so you also saved me some time and money. Congrats on fatherhood and your career and looking forward to following along again.
To be irreverent, Manhattan, NYC or Manhattan, Kansas? LOL ! Welcome back, buddy! You were sorely missed! Here's to many more shaving videos made by you! Edit: Re the guest bathroom: I detect a better sound versus your previous videos. I listened to this video with stereo ear buds.
So cool that you are back! I just got into DE safety razors in the last two months when I realized I had no idea what cartridges I needed to buy. I went home, rummaged through my bathroom cabinets and discovered I had 11 different razor handles from 5 different companies. Your channel has been a huge help in guiding me to my initial purchases, even in your absence from it. I feel fortunate to have found this community right at the moment that both, you have chosen to return, and that Gillette released this heritage razor.
12:22 Totally agree with not going for bbs on the neck. I've found the same works for me. Just one pass, with the grain, and a light touch-up on the neck.
Welcome back Nick!!! Feels like it's been decades!!! Last time you were busy working odd shifts/ internship or something and then boom... Work took you away from us!!
Wow I really thought you were gone!! Congrats on the fellowship and the child!!! This channel will always come second to your real life, but I’m so happy to see you on UA-cam again! You were the first person to get me into DE!!!
Nick, your archive of shaving tutorials have been such a tremendous help along my venture into the world of wet-shaving. It is such a joy to see you back! Thank you so much for all of the time, passion and effort you have selflessly contributed to the community!
Congratulations on both your fellowship and fatherhood! Watching your vids is what got me into wet shaving and I'm glad to see you're not only doing well but doing very well. Hope to see more shaves!
I bought a safety razor(this one actually) a while back and I just happen to find this channel and I love watching it while I do schoolwork (for premed:)) or anything else and I was sad to see he doesn’t make videos anymore. Hope he and his family is doing great
Congrats on your growing family, Nick. Just made the jump myself from oncology to the Pharma side as an MSL. What a difference in hours, stress, worry. About 3 days a week in my home office now. I recommend it. I bought the Muhle with the Common Bar style handle too. Now my vintage long-comb NEW type is in the nifty Gillette case, a perfect fit. I already had an R89 so this razor is redundant for me. But the handle is great. Welcome back. Hope you have time here and there to post a vid for all the new guys. Your technique instruction is excellent. I don’t care if you ever introduce a new product. I point newbies to your videos so they can pick up some ideas for DE shaving. Everybody does it a little differently but nobody describes the process as thoroughly as you. Cheers, Dad!
Oh my god, found your channel 8 months back & binge watched it as I was going into wet shaving for the 1st time. Thought this was a dead channel until you show up. I relay enjoyed your content. Congrats & welcome back brother. Love and Respect from India 🇮🇳❤️🙏
Gugan Esan me 2 I came across to the snow machining thanks to him in a couple other youtubers. Look at me now with a huge collection and a whole bunch of vintage gillettes and fantastic artisan soaps
Nick! Congratulations on becoming a father, completing your residency, and best of luck through your fellowship. It's great to see you back at it. Looking forward to more!
So excited to see you again! Your videos are what got me into wet shaving. It’s been a year this month, and I absolutely love it. Thanks for all your help. Happy holidays.
So glad to see you back, just recently got into wet shaving and you’re one of the first guys i found on UA-cam and you’re my absolute favorite, keep up the great work nick. Much love from NC
HEEEYYY! NICK’S BACK! CLEANED OUT HYDRATED READY TO GO!🤣 Glad to hear that life is going well! You’ve done quite a bit! In the time that you went from Resident to Fellow, I went from X-Ray tech to CT tech, so I feel you on life getting busy. I hope that you’re not steered into moving again, but if you do... University of Rochester has been a fantastic place to grow in the medical field, and the areas around the city are extremely livable.
Welcome back!! Since your last vid I’ve welcomed two new grandchildren to our family..big diff than having your own, when they cry u can just say here u go take care of your baby, done my time but miss my daughter being young.i ordered one of those as soon as they came available to order and I really like it it’s very close to my de89 but that’s ok ,I love my 89 but I also like my vintage Gillette’s too.. have fun with the baby they grow up fast, have a great week
First off, welcome back! Congratulations on the completion of the residency and birth of your child. I'll be the first one to say that the time really flies. Seems like yesterday my son was born. Now he's 27 with a wife and 4 girls of his own. The razor sounds really good ( being a huge fan of Gillette razors). I have several vintage Gillette razors including the new, black beauty, fat boy, etc... I have to try the cream though. Really hope to see more vids from you!
Good to see ya Nick. I’m still using the 34c with WS classic blades. Creams for me too on the fly. 3 kiddos here. Busy busy. I’ll never go back to crap blades.
Welcome Back. Here's what you have to look forward to: I'm now 53 and started wet shaving about 8 years ago. I've gone through many razors and have my all-time favorites, almost exclusively stainless steel CNC and (2) KARVE brass razors, all for longevity and craftsmanship. I have a Gillette Superspeed that was made on my birth year (1966), all in anticipation of teaching my son the art of shaving. Fast Forward...Now he's 19 and in college. He DE shaves and will have access to all of my other stainless steel and brass razors when I'm gone. I have over 6,000 blades of various brands to outlast my lifetime and maybe his 😂. His 4 other friends went off to college with DE razors as senior gifts, too. You'll blink and they'll be all grown up. Cherish the younger years. It only speeds up as they get older and older. Good Luck!
Glad to see even the master has issues with some soaps. I couldn't figure out what was I doing wrong with an Edwin Jagger cheapo hard puck soap, for the love of me can't get even a bad lather going, the lather would start for a second and then disappear somewhere into the brush or something. Even loading it up heavily, couldn't get a lather going. After like 5 tries I'm ready to throw the puck away. Bowl lathering helped, but once applied it would quickly disappear like water, no slickness at all.
Speaking about Gillette not bringing back one of their old razors.... I agree. My favorite razor is a 48-50 Aristocrat but would have been happy with a new short comb from the thirties or even a super speed. Would love to see Gillette make those again. But this is P & G, and not the old Gillette company. The old timers that made all those amazing razors are gone. But hey, it’s still a Gillette and I am glad to see them manufacturing a de razor again. Maybe more will come in the future if they see the market is still here
Congratulations on becoming a father and welcome back. Really happy to see you back. Your channel was the very first source of information when I started wet shaving. Really appreciate your videos.
Good to see you back Nick. Making me wonder why I stopped making videos myself. Got this razor for a bunch of folks for Xmas. Easy shaver and inexpensive.
Congrats on all the awesome things that have come up since you've been gone. You really helped me when I first got into traditional shaving so I'm happy to see you back.
Nick is back! Congrats on the little guy...may the man upstairs continue to bless you and your family bud!! Hope your fellowship is going well! What are you specializing in!!??
Welcome back! I have missed seeing your videos. I could hardly believe it when I saw this video was only a few hours old. Congratulations on becoming a father as well. One of the best experiences of my life!
Nice to see you back making videos. Can you make an updated video on your favorites soaps and de blades? If your opinions haven't changed much from the old videos, can you list your top 5 favorite soap/creams that are slick and thick?
Good to see you back, Nick! This was the first youtube shave channel I found when I ventured into DE shaving early 2019, and then I realized that nothing new was coming... But now you are back on again.
Hi nick enjoy your shave’s, correct me if I’m wrong but I believe Wilkinson Sword produced their first razor in 1989 and Gillette 1901 so WIlkinson Sword would have the longest shaving tradition?
Great watching one of your videos again. I haven’t done a proper wet shave in years. I got super into it for a couple years and I would slice up my face almost every shave so I threw away all my soaps in frustration. I still use the DE (Feather) just not the soaps. I’ve gone back to what I used to do-straight out of the shower, no soap, no cream, nothing at all. Super smooth, cut-free and no aftershave. But this video makes me miss all the soaps and brushes and balms. Good to know you and your family are well 🤙🏼
Welcome back, Nick! Congratulations on being a father and for your move to Manhattan. You guys in the States are lucky to have the Gillette Heritage razor. Here in the UK the razor is not on sale
Congratulations on finishing school, the residency, and, most importantly, your new son! It's great to have you back, but spend as much time as you can with your family. Have a great week!
Well!!! Welcome back!!! It's nice to see you again. You disappeared not long after I started using a DE razor. Now I have a shelf full of razors and brushes... Not to mention soaps and creams. Thanks for your video. Look forward to seeing your next video.
Nice shave Nick, so glad that you you are back. Great review of the new Gillette Heritage safety razor. I hope to get one for Christmas. Congratulations on being a dad. Look forward to seeing your future videos, and would especially enjoy seeing a shave with your grandfather's safety razor. Thanks!
Great to see you back Nick, glad all is going well with your job, I'm second year into my nursing degree with a background in orthopaedics actually going back to that when I finish.
Hearing “My skin is cleaned out, hydrated, and ready to go” is like watching Mr. Rogers routinely swap his jacket for his indoor cardigan. Welcome back!
Had to rub my eyes and pinch myself there to make sure I wasn't seeing things. How the hell have you been?!?!?
Yep, he has been sailing and riding with the wind to New York and meeting his friend Arthur.
"Cleaned out, hydrated and ready to go!" I missed that lol....Welcome back Dr Nick!!!!
We were just talking about Nick bro!! haha
@@ShaveCave That's so funny lol, we really were haha
Great video you made Gnome!

Man, it’s been so long. I was researching safety razors and straight razors to start with when the last video was released. I love using my razors and got my dad into them.
Nick, we all know you're busy... But make sure to stop by, your channel is classic!
Review more Stirling soaps. They are some of the best out there. You just started getting into them in your old videos.
Congrats on being a father. Your videos taught me everything and got me started wet shaving. Nice to see you back!!
Congrats being father it’s a good feeling
Cheers
Alan
What a way to start a new week, we’ve all missed you mate. Congrats on fatherhood!
Congratulations, Nick! It’s good to have you back!

He's BACK to ATTACK
Great to see you back Nick and congratulations on the new addition to the family, looking forward to your fine reviews of all things shaving!
Welcome back Nick. Been watching you for years. Your like an OG shaver. Lol. Congrats on your first child.
Id like to see some maintenance videos. Should we disassemble our razer every time after shaving and clean it? How often should we scrub off the soap scum build up? Ideal way of storing everything. Should the blade always be taken out when not being used? That sort of stuff.
Congratulations on finishing school and growing your family.
I know many of us were worried/concerned.
WELCOME BACK NICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One last entry. Nick... your de blade reviews are still the best blade reviews ever made. Please keep the channel going.
I have forgotten how much I loved your videos, I find them to be very calming and very informative. Congrats on all the life changes and success.
Nick, I'm usually not one to comment on UA-cam but I must say it's great to see you back. I’ve routinely bought vintage Techs and Super Speeds for well under $10 at the local antique stores. A little clean up and they are good to go!

Awesome to have you back Nick. Congratulations on your baby 👶
Nice to see you back. I was really worried that the channel was no more.
Omg I just realized you’re back I thought you were done with UA-cam forever
Welcome back! I have missed seeing your videos. I could hardly believe it when I saw this video was only a few hours old. Congratulations on becoming a father as well. One of the best experiences of my life!
My merkur 34c is still my go to razor. Has been for over several years.
Chris Kelly84 I have a Merkur 3 piece razor, it gives a good shave.
Nick I would love to see another gear video. Gear for 2018, 2019, and 2020 haha! Love that you are back.
Welcome back Nick! Congratulations on the birth of your son. Merry Christmas
Greetings from Scotland Mr Shaves, Please can you do a shave using a Supermax Blue Diamond Titanium DE Blades, I find them amazing.
Glad to see you back. Congrats on the fellowship and the new addition to your family.
Welcome back daddy! Congratulations Nick on being a dad and your achievements!
Congratulations on finishing school, the residency, and, most importantly, your new son! It's great to have you back, but spend as much time as you can with your family. Have a great week!
can you do a review for the feather popular razor in the future?
Congrats Nick on your son and career. Living in Manhattan you’ll be able to visit Leon at Pasteur’s on a regular basis now.
Congrats on your new addition to the family. Nice to see you back.
Well!!!
Welcome back!!!
It's nice to see you again. You disappeared not long after I started using a DE razor. Now I have a shelf full of razors and brushes... Not to mention soaps and creams.
Thanks for your video. Look forward to seeing your next video.
Oh you should check out the new Nivea Post Shave “lotion”, it’s more of an aftershave but really good!
