I found this channel today, and while I'm sad he doesn't still upload, I'm glad he made enough videos to help the beginners of the shaving community. Thank you for your service, Nick.
Please ignore the trolls who are suggesting something bad has happened to Nick (and even refer to his wife as a widow). He recently had a baby. Maybe that's why he hasn't been heard from.
One of the videos (I don't recall which) he mentioned that he'd gotten into med school. The new dad thing...I'm basing that on other comments made throughout his channel. I haven't heard/seen him mention it in one of his videos.
Miss your videos Nick. You made great content, and I know a lot of people would love to see more if/when the time is right. Hope all has been well with you and your family.
I know you are probably busy fixing bones, I wanted to click over and say thanks for making all these shaving videos. I've been wetshaving for about 3 and a half months and it's been very enjoyable and relaxing. The how to videos you posted were the most helpful out of any of the others that I watched when starting out! Peace!
I bought a restored 1965 SuperSpeed from Razor Emporium. They did an amazing job restoring it and what a great shave. Incredibly easy to get the proper angle and is very comfortable.
Great shave. My dad told me my late grandfather had a vintage safety razor he used to have. I'll ask my grandmother about it so I can get a look at it. It's great showing the vintage stuff your grandfather had
It's great that you get to shave with your grandfather's razors; nice job on the restoration. That is such a good idea for the shave stand, thanks for demonstrating it.
I have my Grandfathers adjustable from 1965 he used every day . it means more to me than any razor I have bought and it reminds me of him every time I see / use it .
Hi Nick- Very nice shave today; thank you! Great to see your Grandfather’s shaving gear. The restored Slim Adjustable must have a lot of significance for you, I’m sure. Take care and best regards!
Thanks for all your videos. Among all of the great informational videos concerning shaving and the products related to it, yours have helped me make a lot of decisions on what things to try. The only thing left is a 12 step program to help me stop buying more stuff.
So many wonderful items from your Grandfather. That is such a beautiful razor and restoration. Enjoy them and keep up the videos. I'm still new to wet shaving (again), and lots of good information and techniques.
Loved this video, thanks. I was lucky enough to find my grandad's 1956 Superspeed red tip razor in his bathroom cabinet (30 years after he passed away). My gran had kept it there next to his shaving brush and tube of Tabac. I too sent the razor to Razor Emporium, from Scotland, for a refurb and Rhodium finish, what an amazing job they did :)
Thank you for all your time and effort put into these videos. Recently got into wet shaving for my birthday after watching videos about how terrible cartridge razors are. Couldn’t agree more!
Wow nick. Beautiful shave mate. I'm so glad you're able to keep these moving on down the generations to come. That is a króna, it's a killer Shaver, hope you're doing well my friend. Can't wait for the next shaves
Nick, I m looking for that stand and I am having trouble finding it! Great video and I am happy you can honor your grandfather by utilizing his shave gear!
Great video Nick! My late Dad had a Gillette Black Beauty from the 1970's that he used to use. One day I decided to get it and clean it up and use it to shave on his Birthday, Father's Day, Memorial Day, and Veteran's Day. But I started using it more often and now I have it in rotation with my other razors cause it shaves so well! Your Grandfather would be proud!
Hello. I am new to wet shaving. I was using cartridges previously. I ordered a Parker 97r razor and I am on my first week trying to learn it. Thank you for your videos they are very helpful (and relaxing)!
I’m glad you got to keep your grandfathers stuff. My dad was a DE guy and had a dozen or so all 40s-60s. When he passed my mom gave them to the Salvation Army. When I ask her why she said why would you want a bunch of old razors. 😡
Hi Nick. Nice to see you back. I wish I had some shaving gear from my grandfather. He was born 2 years before King Gillette got the patent for his safety razor. Therefore my grandad could have had original gear from around the First World War., imagine. It's great you keep up memory of grandpa with his old razors and brush.💈👍🏼
Nick I have enjoyed your videos. I hope you have secured a position in your field with a Hospital of your choice. Assuming you are working I am sure your days are very long say 15 or 16 hours. Good luck understand you are busy! Mark Gallagher
That’s a great razor Nick. I have a 1963 Slim Adjustable from Razor Emporium that is one of my favorite vintage razors. I like using a Feather blade with that razor on setting 3.
Hello Nick, greetings from a fan who misses your videos. We would love to hear from you. No need for shaving talk -- just to say hi and to tell us how you're life and career are going. I think I speak for a lot of people who have come to love your videos and respect and admire you, more that merely for your shaving acumen. I remember what a hectic and busy time it is when one is starting in a profession ... you certainly must have a lot on your plate. You really seem like a great guy who I'd love to share a beer and good conversation with. Please let us know that you're okay, and we wish you great success in your personal life and profession. Cheers!
That's great, Nick! I'm glad you got some of your grandfather's shaving kit. The Slim Adjustable is one of my favorite razors. I picked mine up from an antique shop for less that $15. I need to send it to Razor Emporium for a clean up but it looks fantastic. Looking forward to see your before and after videos.
Glad to see that you're back making videos again. Glad to see that you have and actually shave with one of your grandfather's razors. I also have a Gillette slim adjustable which is my birthday razor. Date code K3 which is a 1965 3rd quarter that I bought off eBay. It is one of my top two favorite razors. The other razor in my top two is a 1948 - 1950 Gillette aristocrat.
I also have a 1948 - 1950 Gillette aristocrat that I acquired about a month or two ago. That's become my favorite non-adjustable TTO. I know it has the same head as a 40's style Super Speed but with a fatter handle and that deep cut knurling it has a very different feel.
What a great shave Nick that razor looks very nice my mother inlaw gave me her father's gillette super speed and his brush. It great to use and keep things to remember your loved one and think about how many times it was used and to have a name linked to the razor not like the razors you get from Ebay etc is awesome great shave my friend
Hi Nick, I also had my grandfather's 1975 Black Beauty refurbished at Razor Emporium. It came back looking brand new. I use it for a head shave with a Gillette black DE blade. I use a 1948 Gillette Tech for my face with a Astra SP. Both great razors.
That's awesome you have your grandfather's razors! By the way, you're going to get bombarded by messages saying to NEVER adjust the razor with the doors closed. Great shave Nick and glad you see you back! Hope all is well
...Nick if you are reading this you should really consider becoming active again on YT...been watching some of your reviews and found them really great...among the best out there...so please find some time to post once in a while at least...all the best

if you want to try something that sounds weird, but works for me.... turn the aggressiveness up with later passes. 1st at 4 like you did. second at 6-7 and final at 9. as along as you have a good blade you're comfortable with in there you'll be surprised how well it works. (can even start lower to end up on a lower number if your skin dictates. make sure you give it the extra 1/4 turn to lock in the blade. feels weird at first when coming from superspeeds or krona (normal butterflys) but all the gillette adjustables have to have the 1/4 turn. with the vintage adjustables you have to release the lock on the blade. there's always a 1/4 turn at the end of closing the doors that normal butterflys don't have that the adjustables have to lock in the blade. make sure you open that 1/4 turn at least to take pressure off before changing the dial. (if you look at how the mechanism changes the height of the "cap" to the plate it'll make more sense.
Do you have a link to the shave stand? Nothing is coming up on google. Those three (Black Super Speed, Slim, and Krona) razors must have been pretty popular. I also inherited those same tree from my grandfather.
I have my grandfathers vintage Gillette adjustable slim as well!! Such a beautiful cool and innovative razor for the time!! You can look up the serial number on it and find the year of manufacturing. Very cool!
Hope all is well with you. I also like the good shaves i get with classic Gillette safety razors. I have a gold Aristocrat probably 1960's model, a 1962 Gillette Slim Adjustable, 1975 Black Beauty, And a Super Speed silver handle. I want a Fatboy and a Toggle but those are very expensive right now.
@Megan furlong yeah it is weird. Well you and your man got a point. What a shame this was a good channel. Well yes maybe he keeps it for the sake of viewer's.
Very nice that you were able to keep using your grandfather's razor. Can I ask whereabouts in northern Minnesota? I live in Duluth, this area is great (most of the year).
shinlangan he committed himself to his church and renounced the shaving stuff. Kept a few things but sold most of his haul and deleted all his vids. He is done with his channel.
The Slim is my favorite razor. I have one in my birth year and quarter(J3 = 3rd quarter of '64) and it is plated in rose gold, I love it. I don't have anything from my Grandfather but have my Dad's shave mug, brush and Schick Injector that is from the mid 60's that I use from time to time, the shave brush is not quite as bad as yours but it sheds too bad to where I have not used it. I don't think you can hurt these razors, there are no gears in the adjuster, just threads and I highly doubt you can hurt them. I think you would do more damage and stress opening and closing it since it takes that extra quarter turn to lock down the blade. Good luck with the new(old) gear.
I've got one and can tell you it's a beautiful piece of gear, but exTREMEly mild. It's engineered to be used with Feather Hi-Stainless blades. The combination can render fantastic shaves, but the angle of attack is a bit different from some of the other razors but once you find that, a one-pass shave isn't impossible. I've seen a couple of reviewers do the AS-D2 and they were funny...one (I think his name was Giovanni??) had someone loan theirs to him and he did his video with that...another one was a guy in his 50's who used the thing for the first pass ...liked it and for the second pass used a MÜHLE razor for the second pass....what's the point of THAT? But I can tell you that the Feather is a beautiful, mild razor. However, I'd also mention that it's not my daily shaver. I don't have a lot of razors (Edwin Jagger Kelvin, Merkur 34C-HD, Merkur 33C, Feather AS-D2 and Schick Krona [one of the last ones, I think]) and the Kelvin is by far my favorite to suit my face and technique with Astra SP blades. Just my personal experience and fave. If I've let my face go for a few days, I'll "fire up" the Feather (with Feather blades) and glide through the thick stuff with ease. But for BBS results, it's something you really have to work for because of the extremely narrow angle of attack to get the blade to do it's best work. Hope that's helpful.
Quick question. I been DE shaving for a while with the same products for a while (Merkur 34c and Astra Platinum blades) but, I feel I can get a closer shave. I don’t want to get crazy and end up owning 20 different blades, razors, soaps, brushes blah blah. I’m a bit of a minimalist. To try getting a closer shave should I get an other razor or try an other blade with my razor? Please let me know.
I've got that same Gillette. I believe it is a 1961. I got mine at an antique store for about 15 bucks. used it every single day during my deployment last year. was one of my favorite razors until I got my Merkur 39c. I think 39, or 37... can't remember, but that Gillette.... I always shaved 3 passes on 3. Good on you for getting your granddads. It is a fantastic razor.
Recently got into DE wetshaving, and have ordered a second hand Gillette Slim Adjustable 1966 in fairly good condition. For the price I would have been close to getting a Rockwell 6C, but decided to go for the twist adjustment. The Rockwell 6C looks good on your videos, but anyway, I hope the Gillette Slim Adjustable 1966 will be just as good or even better.
Hi Nick, great videos....keep em coming? I just wondered...have you ever tried "the real shaving co" shave cream? If not, would be great to see you do a review.....needs to be lathered in a bowl....i think its one of the best on the market.....
I found this channel today, and while I'm sad he doesn't still upload, I'm glad he made enough videos to help the beginners of the shaving community. Thank you for your service, Nick.

Great to hear Nick is OK and doing well. He was the first wet shaver I followed. Hope he gets back to it soon!

Hi Nick, can you provide the link for your new shaving stand? Thank you.

if you want to try something that sounds weird, but works for me.... turn the aggressiveness up with later passes.
Missing your Videos dude!
Have you tried the bevel safety razor? If so can you do a review of it please. I can't really find many reviews of it on youtube. Thanks.
The Rockwell 6C looks good on your videos, but anyway, I hope the Gillette Slim Adjustable 1966 will be just as good or even better.
nick where did u get the stand ??? link ??? thanks.
@nick You really should try a vintage Wilkinson. It's love to see a review of that
What exactly happened??
Mike Rose apparently he accidentally slit his throat using a straight razor
Benjamin Cox
I really don’t want to believe that... like like suicide or an accident kind of thing
Mike Rose he came back from the gym and was too shaky. The razor slipped just enough to slice his jugular. You seriously didn’t hear about it?
Benjamin Cox
And he died because of it or like got stitches?
Mike Rose i heard it cut too deep or something. Must have bled out before he was able to get stitches
Hi Nick, great videos....keep em coming? I just wondered...have you ever tried "the real shaving co" shave cream? If not, would be great to see you do a review.....needs to be lathered in a bowl....i think its one of the best on the market.....
