That is why I picked this razor up, it is a beast. I do have some shaving scuttles that you pour hot water into and make the lather in. It does take the shave to another level when using warm lather. Thanks for checking out the video.
I would never have believed it if I hadn’t seen you do it here! I tripped over your video … 48 day shave with an R41 - Yeah right. 😂. But bloody hell dude! That buffing technique peeled you out of your beard like a sheep in the hands of an expert! Awesome. I fancy myself to be knowledgeable about shaving, but you have gifted me with a great new perspective on shaving when my stubble gets older/longer than usual. I have struggled with long stubble with some razors and find only a few - the R41 is one - can cope with longer hair. But I haven’t adapted my straight stroke and my razors have been jamming up and jamming out! And I can see why now. Thanks. This video will help me for years to come. Thanks😊
I am glad I was able to help. Typically I like the longer shaving stroke but I know from past experiences small buffing strokes help to mow through the facial hair. I appreciate the comment.
Hello Rick. New subscriber here. Big fan of the classic shaving process here and shaping of beards ... We get those little cuts quite often. I am glad there was not much burning stuff. Have a great day and happy holidays
great shave. i would of used a electric clipper first cause the beard was heavy, then i would of shaved one pass. that soul patch we call it a doo-dad really goes well with a stache like the cowboy days.
Thanks! I like changing it up. Years ago I would use a shavette or straight razor, then switched to single edged razor to take heavy growth. Now I have some aggressive DE razors
Hi Rick, Great choice for the soap. (Reserve Spice from B&M was the first wet shaving soap that I ever used). That Feather and the R41 did a great job on your beard. Buffing wins the day. Nice to have your face back again! Happy New Year and best regards, Glenn
Thanks Glenn, it feels good to be shaving again. They have changed the packaging for the reserve spice, not sure if the formula has changed. Buffing was definitely the way to go. I do watch the weather and if it starts showing cold air moving in I back off shaving for a week or two. Happy New Year Glenn!
Ah man you had such a gnarly beard! Don't know if it's only a problem with me, but i know you have a similar chin to mine. Does the beard ever start to split as it grows? That's the issue im dealing with as usual. Any tips with that? Thanks.
Good question Josh, I don't seem to have that issue. Sometimes I do brush with a horse hair facial brush and add a little beard oil, and brush my mustache, chin, cheeks, and neck.
For me it works out well. I will probably shave around 3-5 days. I work outside so having some facial hair is nice in the winter. Summer time about every 2-3 days for my shaves.
For me definitely aggressive especially with a sharp blade, I can feel the blade on the skin. Main reason I bought this was for taking off excessive hair growth. But I have only used it 4 times and two of those were when I shaved the mustache off after 9 months and this shave, the other 2 was the shave right after. I did enjoy the second shaves, very light pressure. I like razor blades on the 2nd to 4th use. First use of a new blade can sometimes cause me a bit of irritation.
I love watching beardoffs! Great video ! The Rex Ambassador on 6 is the smoothest beard off for me. The razor clears much better not being an open comb. I did find one good example of a beardoff with the Rex Ambassador. You just lightly apply pressure and do one slow pass which will remove all the hair without buffing. Those that don’t use a shaving brush and warm soap are missing out on one of life’s simplest, but greatest pleasures! That razor is a brute!

How is the blade feel on the r41 ?

Thanks Brian. Comment was in my held for review tab. I’m guessing because of the link in the comment. Sorry I don’t check that tab too often.
