    One thing that many people misunderstood is "Bun bo Nam Bo" is not actually the original food of the South. The word "Nam Bo" is translated as Southern Vietnam but "Nam Bo" in this dish is the former name of a street in Hanoi which is Le Duan (the street has the train station)
    Anyway, very nice video and thank the vietnamese tour guide a lot for introducing the cuisine of our country

    There is an alternative explanation for the origin of the first dish you tried, "bun bo Nam Bo," which some believe to be more accurate. According to this version, the dish was first created by a local family restaurant or food vendor located on a street in Hanoi's Hoan Kiem district called "Nam Bo," which translates to "Southern." This name has caused confusion among many people who assume that the dish must have originated in the southern region of Vietnam or been prepared in a southern style. Despite the confusion, the guide who introduced you to the dish was both entertaining and knowledgeable.
    As a Hanoian, I appreciate your open-mindedness towards exploring the culinary delights that Hanoi has to offer. As someone who has hosted friends from overseas, I know how frustrating it can be when they complain about small details like messy or dirty surroundings. I commend you for your positive attitude and willingness to embrace new experiences. Keep up the awesome attitude!

    FYI
    The cooking style of Bun Bo Nam Bo is not Southern. The dish Bun Bo Nam Bo originated in Hanoi. The first store was established on what was once Nam Bo Street but is now Le Duan Street, therefore the owner gave it the name as Bun Bo Nam Bo. People are now got confused about it because of this.

He had apparently left the tourism industry when Vietnam had been closed for COVID and he told us that, when you posted your video, he took it as a sign that he should return to doing what he loved - sharing this beautiful country and city with others! Kudos to the local guide, but Bún Bò Nam Bộ is actually a Hanoian food. It starts off on a street named Nam Bộ (now Lê Duẩn str), hence the name Bún Bò Nam Bộ.

    Ah, what a great video and a great tour. As a Vietnamese living abroad now it brings back lots of memory and made me homesick.
    The first dish that you guys have is "Bún Bò Nam Bộ", Bún is the fermented rice noodles, Bò means beef, and Nam Bộ does not mean it is originated from the South, it is based on an old street name in Hanoi, where they invented the dish.

    • @thanhnguyenndt
      @thanhnguyenndt 2 роки тому

      Bạn guide nói đúng. "Bún Bò Nam Bộ" thực chất là "Bún Bò Xào", nó đúng là được bắt nguồn từ Miền Nam. "Nam Bộ" là một phố cũ của Hà Nội, và quán Bún Bò Nam Bộ ở Hàng Điều ngày nay chính là quán cũ di chuyển đến, nhưng nó không phải là xuất sứ của "Bún Bò Xào - Bún Bò Nam Bộ".
