As a Viet, I genuinely love this video. Chả cá Lã Vọng is among the best of our traditional dishes but it is way underrated. Not many foreign youtubers, magazines, ads, or TV shows ever mention it. 😢
Your energy and love of food and travel is what drew me to your channel. I hope you continue to enjoy the travel and find new and old foods to eat! Thank you for years of great content!
The fact that we get free videos on UA-cam by Mark is truly a gift. 👍👍👍 Please also travel to Cambodia, Laos & Myanmar and show us your favorite foods! 😋😋😋
I had this in hcm years ago. Couldn’t find it in Singapore. Apparently the herb wasn’t available here…damn. The aromatic herb infused oil coating the fish, and eating it with the herb and the bun vermicelli is very delicious.
That looks amazingly delicious 😋. The way Mark describes the process of creating the dish is very impressive. It’s almost like you can follow one of his videos like a recipe. Thank you Mark for sharing your meal with us. Have a blessed day
Great stuff Mark. I live in Vietnam just outside Saigon and have found some wonderful fish noodle dishes near me. The Vietnamese are the kings of noodles in my opinion :)
I have seen the whole menu is in Vietnamese... i cant understand the local language then how can i order /understand clearly whats exactly on the menu 🤔
Thank you MARK ! Best wishes to your family . I was born in Ha Nam , just about 10 miles from Ha Noi . But have been living in the Northwest of 🇺🇸 for more than 48 years now . I always support your vlog for many years . I wish I could return to my birth city as soon as possible . 💖❤💖😘😘😘
Thank YOU Mark! I loved the video! What a great restaurant! The food was awesome and the staff were so friendly and helpful and kind! Amazing adventure! I would love to visit Hanoi one day! I'd also love to see South Korea, as their food culture is awesome! 😊😊😊
There's the other restaurant where you have to bring your own fish and herbs. Anthony Bourdain went to one. They will prepare the fish for you and same set up with the sizzling pan on the table. The fish sauce was the lame sauce for gringos and those that can't take the pungent smell of shrimp paste. The shrimp paste comes very salty out of the jar so you only add lime/lemon juice and sugar and nothing else. If you want to dilute more, add more lime juice. The sugar is to bring the flavor back into balance. My mom is from the north and she never cooked the green onion and dill much. Just a quick sizzle to keep the crunch in them. We do put plenty of oil in the pan so we can drizzle the hot oil onto the fish + greens. We can roll these up with wet rice paper or even lettuce then dip in the sauce.
it's so interresting of eating with small size bowls , bite size bowls , so each bite you can make it different with spicy chillis or not, fish sauce or other sauce dips. Same meal but diffrent flavors for each bite
It also ensures that people aren't making their "own" bowls of food like in Western culture. The food is meant to be shared, and you only take what you eat. It promotes communal dining and awareness of others dining with you.
Vietnamese cuisine is diverse and rich, ranging from delicious crab noodle soup ("bún riêu") and aromatic pho to crispy and savory meatball sandwiches ("bánh mì xíu mại"). Each dish carries unique flavors, reflecting the creativity of Vietnam's culinary traditions.
Man it would be such a blessing to get to travel and see the different diverse cultures and eat different foods, plus be with you family at the same time. Such a huge blessing. Mark I just pray you keep up the good work, giving us such good quality videos, and I pray God keeps you and your family safe and blessed as you travel, & I pray a hedge of protection over you, micha and ying. Keep up the good work, stay safe and blessed brother. much love from the states (Oklahoma) ❤💯😇 God bless 🙏

4:18 I love this dish the first time I tried it, but I mist try it in Vietnam. I guess the taste will be ten times better as the fish they use will be different than here in Australia. It’s Amazing 🌟💫🎭 how the blended the dill with a Vietnamese dish!

“Chả cá Lã Vọng” (Hanoi grilled fish) is an iconic dish of Hanoi.
This one I didn't fancy .. had it at Cha Ca Thang Long 19 - 21 - 31 Đường Thành, Hanoi, Vietnam
Will give it a try again in Hanoi

the main herb of this dish are just about sping onion and dill. easy to find. just mix these two together.
this, bún ốc, and bún bò huế are three underrated dishes here. heavenly and unique!

Every bit as delicious as you said, Mark.
Also with the fish intestines thrown it’s surprisingly filling.

Hanoi may not be the best place to entertain but it's definitely the roots of flavors of Vietnam
Best part of that restaurant is they cook fresh herbs Infront of and you you can watch the herbs are really fresh for sure.
we need cha ca here in canada, because that look so good. also everytime i watched your video. I get so hungry
Actually The first time I ate "Cha Ca La Vong" was in Canada, My uncle made it. This is actually a very simple dish, but the flavor is wonderful.

The purple sauce is Mam Tom, and they gave you a watered down one. Anh Vu is indeed a good one to try for others considering trying Cha Ca.
