ideally squeeze the lime first and then use the residual to clean the chopsticks, i’d imagine doing the opposite would be squeezing the germs/bacteria back into the broth 😮
Many years ago, I went to Vietnam and enjoyed street food in Ho Chi Minh City . Harriet and I love our Vietnamese food. We have many restaurants in and around the area where we live. So good. I could eat Pho for breakfast every day. Coming from you guys, the videos are so beautiful, well done with such pristine color. You guys are always so informative and thoughtful. Love you dearly ❤❤ Harriet, Jim and Yuki P.S. Hope to speak with you guys again soon. It was fun.😁
You’re so lucky you have Vietnamese restaurants around you! It’s not a thing in South Africa😭. We made sure we made up for it though😁. Thank you always guys! Chat soon🙌🏻
Squeeze the lime first, then use the residual to clean your chopsticks. That way you're not squeezing the bacteria into your meal. 🙂 BTW, for that fried donut thing, when he said green beans, he is literally translating the words to English. The filling is actually mashed mung beans which is why it was yellow in color (unshelled mung beans have green skin/covering).
Thank you so much for sharing every wher vietnam in my country ! 22 year after my husband death I not back to vietnam ! Vietnam now change a lot ! I live there when I born but some places I not come travel yet like Hà Nội ! Hoi an! Sa pa ! Vinh ha Long ! Nha Trang vvvv ya a lot of good food ! "The lactic acid from the lime cleans the chopsticks!".. *Squeezes the same lime used for cleaning into food*..😂 Just teasing! It did make us laugh though. We lived in Hanoi for a year, so we always feel so nostalgic seeing others explore this city! We never managed to get to HCM when we were living in Vietnam though. Do you guys prefer the food in the North, or the South?! We can't wait to go back and explore more! This also really made us miss Vietnamese coffee. 🤤
The soul of Phở is the broth so the best way to eat phở is both use chopstick and spoon , one bite of noodle then a spoon of broth, or if you are skillful in using chopstick, take a spoon that has noodle, beef and broth together
Great video. One clarification. When you cross, yes, walk steady, and the non-car (two wheels) will go around you. This is not the case for actual cars. The cars will hit you if you try to keep going. 😂 Just pause and let the cars go past first, then continue the steady pace.
For hygienic reason you should use another piece of lime to squeeze in your Pho soup , not the same one that you just use to sterilize your chopsticks .

*** Always nice to see you back, Rhett and Claire-y. 1) Claire, you are so game to eat peppery, spice-y food, I have to say. Well-done, with your condition. 2) Claire, TikTok is so popular with young people. I get it. However, because it is owned by a country, China, which is not a friend to the US of A (America) I simply do not trust it enough to want to give it ANY of my personal information, which one would have to do in order to join it. Yeah, I think one is safer being off of that particular platform, actually. I do not know how your home country relates to China however ours, KNOWS it cannot be trusted, for now anyway. I hope everything changes in the future, but ... I reckon I will look upon TikTok with due caution. 3) Gosh ... I STILL feel very badly for America's involvement in The Vietnam War, which is what we called that conflict. I really do. I was fully alive during the worst of it, and all of the carnage was featured on our nightly new programmes. Dear, oh dear oh dear. I would be so apologetic to everyone if I ever went over there. And, I would mean it! America should never have entered into such a prolonged conflict. 4) Friendly Advise: Please do be very careful about consuming ICE over in any Asian country which is not the cleanest. Why? Well, huge blocks of ice, from which the cubes are cut, are dragged alllllll along filthy dirty floors and the hygiene involved in making ice cubes is rather iffy, dodgy, actually. 5) The beef you ate, which at first I thought was RAW (yeesh!) looked a bit like biltong, except that biltong is a bit darker coloured from having been dry cured. I love it all. I wish that gamier meats were cured here in America, but this country is such a cleanliness FREAK that I rather doubt that they will happen. As always, you two are so buoying and lovely. And your enthusiasm is always infectious. ❣❣
Haha thank you for the fun comments all the time!🙌🏻 1) Spicy food doesn’t tick off my IBS thankfully!😁 2) TikTok is owned by a Singaporean company, not Chinese. I’m not sure why that spread around the states!😊. They went through an entire court case in the states and came out the winner so no need to worry about tiktok! 3) Thank you for feeling bad, it means you have a heart🙏🏻. A lot of Americans share your sentiment, so much so they now live in Vietnam giving back to the community for their wrong doings. The locals also love Americans and don’t have any bad blood. It’s great to see❤️🙏🏻 4) We’re the most cautious travellers out there! Don’t worry too much about us😂. Most shops have little bags of ice that are sealed and they use that! 5) The meat in Vietnam is often raw like that and that’s why when living there, you have to de-worm yourself every year! It’s the same in South Africa - we’re huge meat eaters and often need to de-worm if we’re eating medium rare or rare meats. You mention USA being clean freaks but I was sick as a dog in New York after eating something bad!😭 Thank you for the interesting convoooo and for all your support! All the best😁
