It's interesting how an artist like Childish Gambino can release an abrasive video like This is America and people go crazy about the art and message in the video, but when a band like Korn releases a music video with an abrasive message people are just disgusted and ignore the message.
To be fair, that video has great cinematography and the message is clear and easy to understand for most. I look at music videos just like how I look at film so to me, This is America is a better shot film and a better written film than most of Korn's music videos. Most metal music videos are not great from a film and artistic stand point. Specially since most are just bands playing their instruments.

KoRn is definitely one of my favorite bands... and it’s not because of their music videos or visuals for me it is their passion about their music and their message
14:59 You bring up a pretty interesting thought. I think that in their generation, the outlet for angst was possibly classical music/opera. Obviously these elders weren't around in the 18th century but classical music was still pretty prominant in their time and was the outlet for a lot of angst back in the day. Mostly using harsh, loud vocal chops and word painting with eerie sounding chords. Gerald Barry, an irish composer was known for his absolute insanity in his compositions. And even more mainstream composers such as bach would use dark imagery in their music. Not to mention that classical music gets very commonly compared to metal in a lot of ways. And if you want to take a little more modern approach, Elvis was known as the BIG rebel who didn't conform and parents in the 50's - 60's said it was "the devil's music." Now we repeat the cycle in 2018 with modern metal and rap. Idk, it's my thoughts. Would love to hear your response - Red Wolf.
dang.... classical and opera ? How old are these people ? (I didn't watch) Are you forgetting jazz and post-modern composers? There was a lot of crazy 'rebellious' 'forbidden' music long before rock came along. Dirty blues, ragtime, vaudeville, burlesque.
You can tell when Mike is getting passionate when the cam show him entirely at the begining, and then you cant see his right shoulder at the end. #tablephysicalharrasment
Music is subjective for everyone. I'm a big Korn fan for my own reasons. I think it's cool that even though they're not really your taste you still take time to understand/respect it for others. Also, the original video continues to show that not a lot of folks (especially our older generation) can stay objective with true meaning behind music, lyrics and visuals. Anyways, rock on Mike. 🤘🏻
Couple more things... They used to be drug addicts, but all of them have been in recovery for quite a few years. Also, even though I'm a Korn fan, and the music does get me moving, I take the time to get deeper with it. For them, it's obviously more lyrical. I do that with all the bands I listen to though, and it's one of the reasons why I like watching your channel and other reaction channels.
Jonathan Davis on KoRn being classified as Metal (from Blabbermouth) "I've always had a problem with the term 'metal.' We never were that. I mean, just go back to the beginning when KORN started out. We came out of Huntington Beach, California, and they didn't know what to do with us. The first tour we went out was with BIOHAZARD and HOUSE OF PAIN. Second one was, I think, SICK OF IT ALL, ORANGE 9MM and us, and then we went out with, like, KMFDM. And we played shows with NO DOUBT, CADILLAC TRAMPS and PENNYWISE, and just stuck us all over the place. So I think that we went out and did all that stuff, and it seems like the metal community took us in. We were like the black sheep - we had no place to really go - and I really appreciate and I love the metal community. But as far as us being a metal band, a metal band, to me, is, like, JUDAS PRIEST or IRON MAIDEN - that's a metal band. I don't think KORN does that. I know it's something we do that's different. But I love the scene and there's some passionate people in it- really diehard fans. They don't care. If they don't like what you're doing, they'll let you know it, and I respect that about them and that scene." "I think we're just heavy rock. I mean, I don't like categories, period, but we're more of a heavy rock band than just straight metal. I'm coming from when metal was, like I said, PRIEST and that era… DIO and those [bands]… singing about swords and dragons, and I love that. You know what I mean? To me, that was real metal music, and I love it. Don't get me wrong. But when it comes all down to it, it's music, and who cares what the hell it is? If you like it, you like it; if you don't, you don't. At the end of the day, that's all that matters." I don’t remember what interview this next quote was from, but he also stated “I always thought we were more of a Funk band”
Bahahahahahaha! Well they aren't a fucking funk band. Listen to funk and then listen to Korn. Funk is "Play that Funky Music White Boy"...It sounds HAPPY. I have never heard a depressing funk song in my life.
They are pretty funky but they are metal too whatever they were trying to be...they made it metal. Dude, Korn are awesome. The most posers hate them, more i like em
I usually don't get why people get obsessed over certain bands, but KoRn has been the first metal band I fell in love with. Still love them to this day
I do NOT underestand the whole Emo wave of the mid-to-late 2000s! I actually blame them for hard rock/metal losing their mainstream street cred tbh! 🤦♂️🤦♀️
KoRn was groundbreaking in the late 90s. It was nothing but grunge and pop rock and they crushed those boundaries and brought us something between that and guitar heavy metal riffs(which I wasn't into at the time and helped bridge the gap to other bands)They were in your face and gritty and dark. It was exactly what I needed.
I think you don't like Korn, because you have such a "mathematical" approach of music. It hit me when you started talking about the lyrics as to how their sound was pleasing or not. I'll make a comparison to painting to try to explain better. As I understand, you are more of a Prog metalhead and from what I've seen, you put a lot of thought into the "aesthetics" and the technicality of the songs you listen to, like, the more technical the better (Correct me if I'm wrong!). This makes me think of classical painters who used Mathematics formula to determine what was the most "pleasing" proportions for a body and architecture etc. If let's say, Dream Theater would be compared to Michelangelo because of how technically good they are, Korn would be more of a Francis Bacon. The forms are grotesques, tortured, and are not beautiful at all but express a deep suffering. Likewise, Korn puts (or at least used to put) emphasis on ambiance and the expression of a deep suffering (a big recurring theme of nu metal bands I like). They do not aim for technicality but more on raw emotion!
Agreed! I like things music theory but I do agree that KoRn should be seen from a 'raw emotion' perspective instead of a logical, pseudo-mathematical one. Besides, KoRn's music, if you listen to all the little parts, is way more complex than people think - there is a lot of intricate rhythms and nice dissonant chords and intervals going on.
@@jamesedleymusic Oh geez yeah! How dare this guy have a different opinion? You know, I just had to get out of my way to point out his wrongness, just can't help it. Not to perhaps give him the keys to listen to a band in a different way so that he might enjoy them, but to show how I'm such an Alpha Male chad who can say what is right and what is wrong! Now bugger off before I tell you to listen to Animals as leaders because they are so good!
"the tone is almost annoying" yeah. Thats the point. I understand that you only understand things that can be broken down to a formula but the reason people like korn is that they have a specific approach at unsettling music.
Phobos Maelstrom if you want to listen to unsettling music wouldn’t you go to Noise rock or industrial rock like Daughters, Neurosis or some other band like that? Nu Metal never seemed very unsettling to me.
I talked to his cousin...also named Robert. He was arranging to have his John Deere tractor delivered. He wanted to make sure he meet them at the end of the driveway as the ranch is hard to find. He was hilarious to talk to.
Korn created a completely different genre of metal. Jonathan's way of singing, all the emotions he put into the songs and the lyrics were the things that made a huge statement. They were original and people could relate to their experiences. That's what makea them great artists.
Well not obsessive, I’ll admit that I really enjoy Korn (when it includes Brian Welch, self-titled to Take A Look In The Mirror and then Serenity of Suffering) their sound always intrigued me and have to admit simple, yes, but does it make it bad? No, they clearly have a passion for music and it reached many, I mainly just listen for the instrumentals, they’re lyrically interesting and I admittedly love Fieldy on the bass, not the best but i love his tone and way of playing, he’s simple but fits in so well and managed to stick out which not many bassists In nu-metal do, also was one my early inspirations for picking up bass alongside Tim Commerford. Not for everyone, but certainly should be recognised for making something unique a lot of people were drawn to. I went on for too long for no reason and I apologise
I love the "im kind of a singer too, so i know what im talking about. More so than the guy from Korn who has sold millions of albums." Its fine to have an opinion, but that shit always made me laugh.
Alrighty guys, it’s raid time! To everyone who reads this, please go onto every new FBE video and post the following comments: KIDS REACT TO DREAM THEATER!!! ELDERS REACT TO OPETH!!!
Vengeance_Falls_96 One has guitar solos and non-angst lyrics and not a guilty pleasure, the other still spew edgy lyrics, a somehow more annoying fan base and realease more albums
Mackey Asshole - Both have very dark lyrics which can be described edgy - Technically anything can be a guilty pleasure - Lesser albums doesn’t mean anything - I agree that nu metal fans can be more annoying but thats irrelevant to this argument - Tool > Korn but the only valid point you made was the guitar solos

We need elders & teens reacting to Opeth, Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Slayer, Power Trip, Judas Priest, Pantera, Rob Zombie, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Obituary
Paras Chopra these elders haven't reacted to any death, black, or thrash metal yet, yea they may not like it but some of the shit they say is funny, if we can get them to like at least 1 of those bands then that'll be an accomplishment
When you look at certain Korn songs like Daddy, they showed how deep they really could be. It's really disturbing and hearing the emotional breakdown at the end just rips your heart out.
Yo let’s be real, Don isn’t very open minded and all. He’s very set in his ways in most of the videos he’s in and I don’t see him changing for the better any time soon.
18:43 You're not supposed to analyze it critically, you're literally supposed to move to it. Thats the whole point, same with Slipknot. You're not gonna sit down and analyze the chord progressions, the drums, and how everything works together, etc. You're there for the emotion, the rawness of it, and to embrace it and just go wild. Its fun, its a release you don't get anywhere else
Korn are a cool band that everyone (almost) likes jamming to. They are nice guys. Like, yeah they aren't amazingly good but it's catchy. Why not supporting them? :D
( 21:39 ) Of course Korn is darker than Freakin Pantera!??!? Almost every Korn song is about childabuse, depression and so on. Pantera's lyrics are mostly about beeing confident and stronger than all , slaughter something, party and shit like that. But some songs like cemetery gates, floods, 10's, suicide note part 1 etc. are depressiv sounding and have darker lyrics and deeper meaning. (Pantera is btw. my second favourite band and I play guitar because I was born on the day Dime got shot.)
Korn do have some of the best videos, Here to stay was probably their best. Its great they went platinum even if you're not a fan, Jonathan has lived a dark life and you hear it in the lyrics and they know how to perform!
When Ross Robinson hand mixes an album, it is going to sound fucking awesome. Fieldy tunes his bass down to B, but the 5 string Ibanez SG with active pickups and multiple EQ pots, is a pain in the arse to play.
Korns always been one of my favourite bands and Im not a nu metal fan usually. But I appreciate you having a difference of opinion. I just adore Jon Davis
I thought his darkest song was Daddy he legitimately has a nervous breakdown at the end of the song talking about how he was sexually abused as a child.
@@kuromyou7969 when he was a child he was sexually abused by a family friend who was a babysitter for him and when he told his parents they didn't believe him. Makes you really understand why a lot of Jonathan Davis's music comes from for him his music is therapy.
Korn is one of those bands if you had only just heard their singles you would think they are alright but when you dive into their records especially their first 5 albums you start finding real gems and moments in them that make them go from alright to one of the greatest bands of all time.
True! If/when future generations of kids are gonna dig KoRn, it will most likely be the First Five albums they will talk about! I was talking about this with a woman I went out with recently, and she agreed with me on this one! IF/when I get a vinyl player and start collecting records, KoRn's First Five will be among them! 😁🤘🍻
Sorry, I was just saying that you don’t really need to tell people about rule 34 and that most people know about it. I wasn’t trying to be a dick or be passive-aggressive or anything
Every 30-40 years, the most popular genre gets replaced. For example. Jazz (Early 1920s to Mid 1950s) was overtaken by Rock (Late 1950s to Early 1990s), and then Rap (Mid 1990s - Late 2020s),. The previous genre sometimes has a small revival 10 years after it was overtaken (Nu Metal in the Early 2000s & Alternative Rock in the Early-Mid 2000s), but then disappears again. The genre usually starts 5-10 years before it overtakes the next genre. Expect some type of music to start appearing now and slowly gain popularity until in the Late 2020s it overtakes Rap. I don't know what it will be, but we can speculate.
Master101 1920s Swing and dance 1930 Jazz 1940 big band 1950s rock n roll 1960s Motown 1970s psychedelic rock and disco early 1980s experimental pop mid to late 80s rap and metal early 1990s grunge mid 1990s gangster rap late 90s bubblegum pop early 2000s nu metal mid 2000s crunk and R&b late 2000s pop early 2010s EDM and club music mid to late 2010s mumble rap and Kpop 2020s?
I knew the second Mike said Fieldy's bass was grinding his gears, I knew there was no hope. Korn's sound is almost entirely tied to the very percussive rhythm between Fieldy and Silveria. It holds everything together. If you can't get into that, then you're not going to like Korn at all.
I suppose in general, Korn is darker than Pantera, but there are instances where Pantera gets very dark. Songs like The Sleep, Hollow, Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks, Shedding Skin, Throes of Rejection, and the entirety of The Great Southern Trendkill, one up Korn in terms of creating despair and desolation through the tone and lyricism. I mean, how do you not listen to Suicide Note Part 1 & 2 and not gain a thousand yard stare afterward.
7:59 I'd recommend checking out the album See You On the Other side, it's really good and pretty intense. I know you mentioned Korn's music videos being more brutal than their actual music and maybe there's some credence to that but I had never seen a Korn music video until watching this FBE video, and I think that musically they may not be more brutal than like Repugnant or any other death metal band, it's definitely the emotion and the way that I personally relate to their music and lyrics that makes Korn a brutal band. I'm not the best at explaining this kind of stuff, but you said it perfectly in your Sad Music Is More Important video. Korn challenged me to confront a lot of shit in my life that I just thought was normal and everyone had to deal with so I just pushed it away until I heard songs like Falling Away from Me.
I personally love korn and when you said you didn't like them I automatically thought that this whole video would be you shitting on korn every chance you got. But you actually backed them up and respect them and give them credit where credit is do even though you're not a fan. Mad respect man.
I saw Korn play live at download 2018 Australia. My mate dragged me right up to the front of the barricade, and I moshed for the first time ever! The lyrics of Falling Away From Me ("beating me down") naturally occurring in the mosh was nuts! I must agree though, it is a whole different experience being tossed around to Korn than putting their CD on in the car, sitting idly in traffic. Great video!
I've now watched Mike's reactions to elders react to Korn and Slipknot, and Teens react to Linkin Park. While Linkin Park is my personal favorite of the three because they were the bridge into heavier music for me it still blows my mind that of the three the only one that I've seen Mike genuinely like is Linkin Park. Most people in the metal community I've ever met despise Linkin Park but somewhat are okay with Korn and Slipknot..................strange?
BonEs The Creator Well, he and Donna eventually got married and moved to friggin Europe and have a bunch of kids. They come home 5 times a year cuz Donna makes a whole lotta money aaand he isn t bald yet, surprisingly
Music Snob: I don't really know Korn's music, I can name one song Also Music Snob: Here are my specific opinions on all the music of theirs that I don't know, on the lyrics I don't know, and on the arrangements and sonics to which I am oblivious.
Korn is one of those bands that I listen to passively, if it's on in the car I'll listen to it but I don't go out of my way to listen to them. I do have to give Jonathan some respect though for the song Daddy, not on a music level but for putting his own pain and experience from something horrible and letting others know who went through something similar that they're not alone. I went through something similar and when I heard my brother listening to that album for the first time when I was around 14/15 and heard that song I broke down completely. It did hurt hearing something hit so close to home but it was also a release that I didn't know I needed. It also pushed me to actually tell my mom what happened to me years before.
I know someone said something similar, I love that even though you don’t like a band, you find something nice to say. Have it be what they contributed and things like that.
Korn arent musical masters, they dont try for musical composition and the best music, and i get thats your taste of metal for the music but to me korn is just FUN and i like FUN over substance sometimes, plys its really good to headbang too
12:03 Another example: Foster the People - "Pumped Up Kicks". It's a very upiddy song with a fun groove... UNTIL you realize the song is about a school shooting 😬🤯.
Korn at the time of their popularity, were very different from the rest of the rock/metal bands at the time. Korn took early metal, and grunge then stirred it in a pot. Korn liked sounding out of tune, bring energy, being weird and dark in general. Korn’s goal was to make music that people can listen to and get a message out of and to relate and help people. Korn helped me a lot and why they’re my favorite band. Their sound fits my style, and I love the dark lyrics as it’s easy to relate too. I also believe why metal is hard to listen too is the energy of it. If you take a sad or dark song, and if you had Adele or Beyoncé sing it with their sound, people would like that because it’s more simple, it’s light, and soft. But if you took a metal band like Korn, sing the exact same lyrics, then it would be more heavy, intense, and like more brutal. Which can turn more people away, and people would believe they glorify it and then ignore their message. It really makes me upset because think metal bands are like affiliated with hell and stuff, but they’re giving out the same message like a hip hop or a rapper would but just in a different style
Jonathan Davis “didn’t say we’re all going to die” he said “what if I should die?” Also Jonathan Davis also says that KoRn aren’t really Metal he says they’re more on the funk side
There's this trend going on TikTok where people are using the song Daddy by this band for thirst traps. In case you are curious and seek out the song, a major trigger warning, it talks about child abuse and sexual abuse. So again, if you are squeamish or a victim of these acts, here's your trigger warning. The part that got me was when John was reaching the end of the song and he just breaks down into tears, yelling, screaming, cursing and just crying uncontrollably. The fact that people have used this song in such a heinous way, it just disgusts me.
I think Korn is a good alternative to the real "masterpieces" of Metal. Wintersun is prob my favorite band and I also like bands like Gojira, Ne Obliviscaris and Opeth, but I really like Korn as well. Different music to different moods I guess🤘
Korn get a LOT of kids born in 80's, early 90's into heavy music. Same like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer earlier generations...
23:21 What you said about popular songs, yeah that's what pop music used to be. It didn't used to be a genre. And yes I definitely think regular rock is done but there might be something new that might come along. Coincidentally enough we are starting to kind of get back to the days when they were just popular songs. Because rock is actually making the pop charts again. It just doesn't dominate in the way that jazz did in the 40s rocked into the 50s to the 80s or that wrapped it from the 90s to the 2010s. Now it's just more variety it's just more something similar to what you would find from the 40s all the way up to the 1970s where it wasn't bubble gum pop dominating everything but just popular songs. The whole "pop as a genre" thing didn't really become a thing until the late 1980s and early 1990s.
One advantage rock fan's have is the product and those playing the genre are very passionate cause their isnt the monetary drive like hip hop. Their are dudes rapping for the money and fame. The rock bands are playing for the music itself.
that respectablehuman Their are rap/hip hop artists who dont have the talent of TI, Eminem, Pac, Cube, Snoope, Nas, Wayne, kendrick, and many more amazing artists making a killling. Lil Sky, Lil, Pump, Tekashi69, Lil Xan, Danielle Bregoli, 21 Savage etc. Who dont have the ability to change flow, lyrical maturity, and just are there cause their is more demand for teenage fans of hiphop than artists. The market is flooded and the labels are to blame for sigining these less talented people cause they know anything in hip jop has a chance to make money cause it is the hottrst genre for teens. To be noticed in rock music by mainstream media is harder so if a band makes it they should be respected by by the rock community.
yeah major labels fucked hip hop in the mainstream. I don't even know how some of this stuff is called rap when it's more like just pop music with generic singing or crooning.
You lost me at "I actually listen to good music" and not counting KORN to it 😆 Dude, someone that holds his girly over iced drink like my grandma shouldn't make fun of anyones moves.
I have to say i really like to listen to Korn but i also really enjoyed and appreciate your video because even you don't like Korn you looked on it objectively so thank you for the video and the reaction.
I'm not big on Korn either but I will say that their lyricism is pretty decent and the drumming is the key part to their songs cause it's heavily reliant on the insatiability within the drumming to built up the angst for the release later in their songs so in a way it is good composition and Freak on a Leash is an example of the drumming causing heavy angst.

"Get them into S&M" - Mike The Music Snob, 2018 XD
I guess not a lot of people in the comments know what that means xD
I completely lost my shit when he said that! I had to stop the video for a good 5 minutes until I could regain my composure LMAO!
Lisa M. Altemose i was like "wait what?" and then went 5 seconds back and I was like "fuck yeah hahaha"
MetalikaPozni I got it right away lol when he paused after saying that just made it better (or is it worse? Lol) I love this channel!
Someone has to make that into a GIF too
Music is subjective for everyone.
Sums my father up.. 100% agreed. I love korn as well
Jonathan Davis on KoRn being classified as Metal (from Blabbermouth)
"I've always had a problem with the term 'metal.' We never were that. If they don't like what you're doing, they'll let you know it, and I respect that about them and that scene."
"I think we're just heavy rock. At the end of the day, that's all that matters."
I don’t remember what interview this next quote was from, but he also stated “I always thought we were more of a Funk band”
Matt Cantu #darkfunk
Bahahahahahaha! Well they aren't a fucking funk band. Listen to funk and then listen to Korn. Funk is "Play that Funky Music White Boy"...It sounds HAPPY. I have never heard a depressing funk song in my life.
They're funk metal.
@@666gorewhore Then you’ve never listened to funk.
They are pretty funky but they are metal too whatever they were trying to be...they made it metal. Dude, Korn are awesome. The most posers hate them, more i like em
Sorry Korn is metal dude. And not just an important metal band but an important band in music in general
Kyle Strange he dident say they werent metal
Christoffer Olsen he did somewhere 3 minutes in.
i dont he meant it that way, hes not an elitists
Nu-metal*
@@splaygum8554 no he didn't.
5:55 maybe it's because KoRn isn't trying to be death metal
True, I like Mike but I think it's just stupid to compare Korn to death metal bands
20:25 alright take notes everybody. The test is on next friday
Damn man, that's a great way of putting it.
So what you’re saying is, he should apologize for having a different opinion to you. Noted.
Arktos Nah, I’m sure he’s just going to listen to music his way rather than the way some random UA-cam commenter told him to.
"the tone is almost annoying"
yeah.
I mean dude, there are no fucking mids in fieldy's tone, the only reason that works is cuz the guitars are mostly mids.
@@Brentqvaleenjoyer early korn is pretty dark and unsettling, their first 2 albums are good examples
Best thing i like about koяn is that Roberts Trujillo kiddo, whos about 14 years old was playing bass in at least some part of their last tour.
That's actually super cool. Didn't know that.
Become The Knight someone knows something about metal more than Mike the music snob. Feeling kinda special.
he was actually 12 at the time he toured with them.
That's what makea them great artists.
mike: I don't like korn but I don't hate korn
Me: why am I glad that he hates korn and I like korn

*Sees the video is 27 minutes long*
Oh I think I'm in for a ride
I love the "im kind of a singer too, so i know what im talking about. More so than the guy from Korn who has sold millions of albums." Its fine to have an opinion, but that shit always made me laugh.
Alrighty guys, it’s raid time! To everyone who reads this, please go onto every new FBE video and post the following comments:
KIDS REACT TO DREAM THEATER!!!
ELDERS REACT TO OPETH!!!
yessssss
Okay you say that KoRn is garbage because they have weird sounds and a interesting groove but, What about Tool they had weird sounds and cool grooves.
Vengeance_Falls_96 One has guitar solos and non-angst lyrics and not a guilty pleasure, the other still spew edgy lyrics, a somehow more annoying fan base and realease more albums
Mackey Asshole
- Both have very dark lyrics which can be described edgy
- Technically anything can be a guilty pleasure
- Lesser albums doesn’t mean anything
- I agree that nu metal fans can be more annoying but thats irrelevant to this argument
- Tool > Korn but the only valid point you made was the guitar solos
Mason 11 i don’t get how dark lyrics = edgy
TeamAtFort The last guy called them edgy, so I just went with his language. Korn isn’t really edgy imo but many fans can be
He never said it was garbage
Nice Bone Thugs-n' Harmony hat my dude!
Got it at their live show. Only regret, no Wish or Bizzie
216 is the house. I use to by weed a few houses down from them before they hit it big lol. 3 skinny ass 16 year old white boys in a broken down 85 cutlass in the heart of the hood buying weed. how we never got jumped or arrested or killed I have no idea.
Bone Thugs are my favorite rap group ever.
Mike in the beginning :"I don't hate Korn"
What I think after the video :
Mike hates Korn
Yeah
"Untouchables" is by far their best album. Best mix of heavy and melodic. And catchiest
Hollow Life on that album is very underrated song!
We need elders & teens reacting to Opeth, Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Slayer, Power Trip, Judas Priest, Pantera, Rob Zombie, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Obituary
Paras Chopra hater
Paras Chopra these elders haven't reacted to any death, black, or thrash metal yet, yea they may not like it but some of the shit they say is funny, if we can get them to like at least 1 of those bands then that'll be an accomplishment
Judas Priest are elders.
To be fair, Jon Davis himself doesn't think that Korn are a metal band. For what that is worth.
He said no composition mastery came out off Korn even though, Korn invented Nu metal
Ya :(
and Nu-metal was never about compositional mastery
18:43 You're not supposed to analyze it critically, you're literally supposed to move to it. Thats the whole point, same with Slipknot. You're not gonna sit down and analyze the chord progressions, the drums, and how everything works together, etc. You're there for the emotion, the rawness of it, and to embrace it and just go wild. Its fun, its a release you don't get anywhere else
Korn's a great gateway band. They will always have a special place in my heart
Korn is awesome you should definitely listen to more of them
It's the emotion in Korn's music that connects with their fans. I've been a fan ever since I heard them for the first time.
Rotting In Vain is my favorite from their newer songs
Jan fredrik Svensson same
The scatting part is really catchy.
I actually love korn the sound is nice and the rhythm is great and jonothan davis vocals and head’s guitar is amazing but this video is amazing
MY TEARS DON’T FALL
I eat them for sustenance
Hayden Saul Malina, nice 👍
I would have supported the lefty snowflake jokes. I shall now brace myself for an onslaught of keyboard warriors
I think Korn’s album “Issues” is a decent album to sit down and listen to and think deeply about.
I think Issues is my favourite album. I find myself keep coming back to it.
Issues is my second favorite KoRn album after the Self-Titled Debut! It was around this time I started getting into KoRn as well!

C'mon you broke my heart a bit man, I love the track Blind and I honestly always specifically liked the way Davis performed and sung it
I thought his darkest song was Daddy he legitimately has a nervous breakdown at the end of the song talking about how he was sexually abused as a child.
I was shocked when I first heard it. I didn't even know what I had just listen to.
I tried but I only like Freak On A Leash
Korn actually has a lot of finesse in the drums (in their older Albums). Their former drummer David Silveria was really great !

If you like JD singing in gibberish, you should listen to Chi and Twist. Twist is 50 seconds and then cuts to Chi.

8:25 your Southern is coming out. (Tennessee is considered south, right? I believe it is)
I knew the second Mike said Fieldy's bass was grinding his gears, I knew there was no hope. Korn's sound is almost entirely tied to the very percussive rhythm between Fieldy and Silveria. It holds everything together. If you can't get into that, then you're not going to like Korn at all.
22:50 the fake laugh is the best part of metal melted.
Zach Ritchie I don’t know dude… listen to daddy by korn, that’s hands down the hardest song to listen to that I know of
Also, you are wrong about one thing.
There weren’t 3 memes we need to make GIFs out of. There were 4. It’s at 22:50
The rule 34 comment made me laugh so hard dude omfg I hadn't picked up on that
7:59 I'd recommend checking out the album See You On the Other side, it's really good and pretty intense.
I actually like korn....(older korn more so than the newer korn)
Isaac Schrum Life is Peachy was my fave
Older Korn was darker which I liked more.
The First Five albums are what I dub "Classic KoRn"! That will be the KoRn future generations will dig if/when they get into them! 😁🤘🍻
You are the only person on youtube that I'd watch doing a reaction video. Focking love your input
Cuz Linkin Park is a bit too poppy for them!
Hahaha that has to be the most honest reason for putting in ad before your video XD love your stuff Mike!

Hello, Mike. Ive been wanting to know. What do you think of Primus?
Music Snob: I don't really know Korn's music, I can name one song
Also Music Snob: Here are my specific opinions on all the music of theirs that I don't know, on the lyrics I don't know, and on the arrangements and sonics to which I am oblivious.
How do you feel about Rage Against The Machine?
Korn arent musical masters, they dont try for musical composition and the best music, and i get thats your taste of metal for the music but to me korn is just FUN and i like FUN over substance sometimes, plys its really good to headbang too
They rely on downtuned sound, dark lyrics and ambience, and raw emotion to get by! And they did it damn well!
12:03 Another example:
Foster the People - "Pumped Up Kicks".
Thanks Distrokid, now I can add the Pop Punk Died song to my spicy maymay playlist
Imma place it right after “High School Blink-193” by Pink Guy
Jonathan Davis “didn’t say we’re all going to die” he said “what if I should die?”
Also Jonathan Davis also says that KoRn aren’t really Metal he says they’re more on the funk side
Seen Korn 4 times live and they were amongst the best lives I've seen.
Bone thugz n harmony hat on a dragon statue while drinking whiskey I like dis guy
Nowadays, yes
This isn't true about rap. that's very misinformed, it's liek saying rock sucks because of imagine dragons.
that respectablehuman Their are rap/hip hop artists who dont have the talent of TI, Eminem, Pac, Cube, Snoope, Nas, Wayne, kendrick, and many more amazing artists making a killling.
You have such a pleasing speaking voice. I can listen to you tear my favorite mausic apart and still enjoy it.
Lmao!!! Well thank you.
You lost me at "I actually listen to good music" and not counting KORN to it 😆
Dude, someone that holds his girly over iced drink like my grandma shouldn't make fun of anyones moves.
