me being a slipknot fan, I am very glad that u can show two sides of your opinion I respect that a lot
You're the second person I've seen who has said this on this vid. I'll be honest, I'm not sure what you're referring to when it comes to "two sides of my opinion" because I'm just saying how I feel lol! Either way I'm glad you felt I wasn't bashing cuz I sure wasn't trying to haha. Thanks for watching dude. Appreciate the good vibes \m/
lol I worded it weird, what I was trying to get across, is that most people only say the negative things about what they don't like and you respectfully acknowledged the appealing aspects as well, anyways love the vids man🤘🏻
Burstingloki3 AND MIKE MENTIONING BLACK SABBATH INT THIS SLIPKNOT VIDEO 4 THE FUCKING WIN!!!! I'M 7TEEN B.T.W.
same, man
The granny complaining about Slipknot making noise instead of music at 1:24 ... She doesn't know Sunn O)))
thank god, a youtuber who can talk about something bringing both sides and being fair to both opinions
It happens from time to time ;)
Thanks for watching man \m/
Hey no prob man, I love your videos, I couldn't skip over something like this
Become The Knight Props to you mate
aye, it's called common sense, few people got it these days
G Studios haha good answer
My dad calls bands like Slipknot "beat your mama music." XD
Lololol!!!! I just died.
ShyteKreek46 my mom calls it "angry music"
ShyteKreek46 Well, Disturbed did pioneer the genre with their hit “Down with the Sickness”
I've heard "Hood music"
Lmfao
Mozart was one of the original Metalheads
Fuck yea he was \m/ Maybe wrote "happier" music though lol!
Become The Knight certainly wouldn't be any Yngwie Malmsteen or Steve Vai without him! And to a lesser extent The Great Kat 😂
TheAstronomyFloyd not true
Choping, Mozart, Bach, and all the greatest music composers in history would like metal in my opinion. Metal is so similar with classical music composition. There's simply no real metalhead that don't like classical music, impossible in my opinion. It's so great that Mike mentioned it
Become The Knight cant agree, you should know that there is alot of happy metal and sad Mozart :)
I honestly love the fact that you can defend a band while also criticizing them. Not really liking a band but seeing why people love it. As a Slipknot fan, I very much appreciate seeing both sides from the same guy.
RedDragonAutomaton97 I completely agree with that
Love that Hollywood unded pic
We both like slipknot and Hollywood Undead
When it's "good", no matter what, if you know what's "good" that's creativity, art, respect and follow ups. I mean i could listen to Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mozart, Michael Jackson and Jedi Mind Tricks, A tribe Called Quest (brilliant) after listening to Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, AC\DC, Iron Maiden ,Nirvana and Metallica...take music for what it is!...to me it's overall greatness

Slipknot says they wear masks because they feel it isn't about the people, its all about the music. They think that it doesn't't matter individually about who makes the music, it only about the music itself, if that makes sense. They also say it help them let go of their anger and passion and put it into the music
I can totally see that, and I feel that is a very worthy goal to reach. I don't believe they achieved that imho, but still at very least came close. Thanks for watching man \m/
Become The Knight np really enjoyed :)
Become The Knight Become The Knight The members of Slipknot have also come out and said that the specific designs of their masks are the visualizations of their attitude and personality. Lead singer Corey Taylor explained it as having that outward attitude when interacting with people, then having that true/deep/personal part of oneself and he and the rest of the band try to bring that innermost part of themselves out in their masks. That is in addition to what James commented about taking away the musicians' identities so that fans and listeners can focus more on the music than who is making it.
The snob in me is coming out: Technically all music is noise... 🙄
SeagullSeb same
I thought the exact same thing
As a tone deaf: technically all music are noise
Strange thing that is one hundred percent.
Shut the hell up
Being a classical musician, I can say Metal is my second favorite genre. I've played many different pieces coming from all around the world. Metal music has many classical music elements imbedded into it. It's amazing to see the similarities.
Agreed. One of the reasons I love it as well. You should check out some Dream Theater if you haven't already. You may fall in love.
Borderlands2lova You should check out Therion.
You must've liked neo classical metal and symphonic metal
Borderlands2lova metal is overdrive classic music
Agreed
So I am a huge fan of Slipknot. Mostly I can't understand the lyrics because I'm from Germany. When my dad killed his self last year, I was so fucked up. But it was the brutal sound of Slipknot that helped me in this time. They inspired me to play guitar. I am so thankful for that what Slipknot gave me.
Sounds like a success story to me \m/
Become The Knight It is mate... it is \,,/
Become The Knight curious to hear your opinion on Marilyn manson
BrainEatPenguin Manson is a shitty knock off of Trent Reznor (NIN)
and is way to overglorified
Tom Gekas Bester mann.
I'm seven minutes in, and have to stop to tell you:
Slipknot started from scratch. They started without the big stage show. They paid their dues, and earned the success that they have today. Now, back to your video...
Fair enough, and good on 'em \m/
I know I’m a year late to this, but Corey did say on the Wikipedia Fact or Fiction that they were thrown onto a tiny stage by some guy from Sony Records, and he slammed them because they set them up for that gig. Then that whole thing kicked off with their actual career and they sent the guy a bunch of dead roses.
@Cody Null How so?
Fair enough and good on em \m/

Correction: Florida is a different country
Lol!
I am from Florida and I can confirm this
As a Floridian who has visited other states, I 100% agree
Nah, Florida is a whole other world. Just hearing about this makes me wish to go there just to feel the difference from pretty much the rest of the world myself. This place sounds crazy
Yup, just look at our bizarre news stories.
Gators through drive through windows.
"he's the mother" 😂😂
jasonface 32 hi me from another account
CHRISTIAN BRADLEY haha me too
😂
jasonface 32 such a savage
you want a face? heres my mask. you want my name? heres my number. you want to sell me as a product? here's my fucking Barcode.
-corey Taylor of slipknot.
ArkaeaFCL3 is there a video? If, can you tell me the name?
+Alllda Vadda It is in their Audiobiography video if I'm not mistaken, you have it up on youtube just search Slipknot Audiobiography
Alllda Vadda search for the slipknot video "welcome to our neighborhood"
ArkaeaFCL3 Oh man u like Gojira. Wanna be my friend? 😊
It should be "You want a face?.....Here is my NECK" xD
They should have listened to snuff
I really waited for that
Or watched the video of Corey crying remembering Paul while he was getting a tattoo in commemorating him.
Absolutely true
Yeah, you got to ease people into metal.
I respect snuff a butt tone a lot but wish they will put Vermilion pt2 just my opinion.
I just want to say slipknot isn't representative of iowa...we all just like corn...not the band like, actual corn...
Lol! You win the comment section today sir \m/
Lol you win the comment section today sir \m/
It would be kind of funny if the copy/pasted comment above had more likes than the original comment lol
not exactly my type of band, but i find the "slingknot" line amusing as hell, might aswell call em "slingshot" XD
You're actually a really well spoken individual. You make make some really insightful arguments on both sides of the spectrum. Good on you.
hey
I like this dude , he knows his shit. Great content bro.
"Correction you're from California, you're from another country" You just earned a subscriber my man haha
Now if you're from Florida, you're from a different universe/Dimension.
Cannibal corpse draws the line for me
BattleFieldFrontliner If you listen to it on youtube its like weird screaming. But if you're at one of their concerts you can't help yourself but to just run around and fk shit up.
I mostly like clean vocals really but the occasional screaming and grunting is good.
Demon Rantz Try Miss May I they're amazing my favourite band atm
+The Boosted Pie Will do but I like Death though :)
Hey everyone has their own taste in music. It's not that I don't like or don't appreciate it it's just not my style.
Dude you made james hetfield say "no" ee all know he cannot say no. Only "yeah"
lol!
Ooooooooh yeeeeaaaah .... he's like the thrash koolaid man
YEYEAH
that's why my favourite Metallica song is Yes Remorse
Lol
The reason why I got into slipknot was because of how musically genius they are: involving percussionists in the band, having clean and rough singing, a drummer who doesn't just care about how fast his feet can hit the double kick drums, having lyrics that actually make you think, bass that doesn't just double under the guitar but has another groove inside the music. And on top of that, they give me a type of energy no other band has. I can admit that I mosh by myself to this music because it's just so intense that I need to release the beast within me.
"Because it's giant, obnoxious, and completely out of place, just like Slipknot."
Ok I love S;ipknot but truuuuue.
I really like Slipknot a lot. Not my favorite band though (not even close). Mostly, I like them because I find their music relatable with my emotions. Most of the time I feel sad, angry or frustrated and to lock myself in the room and play some Slipknot with headphones on really helps me escape those emotional episodes of mine. Having said that, I enjoy listen to their music from time to time even with a good mood. PS: Nice work, I love your channel.
And that's what they are meant to be (imho). They are supposed to satisfy that intense emotional craving that is so overwhelming you don't know what else to do with it. I'm glad you're using their art in a positive way dude.
And thank you for the good vibes man \m/
Become The Knight thanks man!
Become The Knight thanks man!
@Cody Null Here we see the 13 year old chad who doesn't know what hard times in life is like. The age is evident in the usage of "beta".
@Cody Null Sure, your personality matches your last name.
I got my best friend into rap, and he got me into rock and some of its subgenres :)
Wtf go back in time and fix what you've done
Jk
hey man, good music is good music, I like metal and stuff like slipknot, mudvayne, gemini syndrome, breaking benjamin, and then I also like the entire album of yeezus by Kanye,
like what you like
@@jyggalag9838 There's some very good rap man, be fair
@@joandrumz3176
Not a rap guy so most of the rap/hip hop that I listen to just do not resonate with me. I know there is some good rap like the old school stuff but really hard to get into.
I’m almost 60 and love Slipknot. I’m glad that metal has found ways to evolve.
Hell yeah bro!
My appreciation for Slipknot is simple. It's pretty much the same as with Pantera. It's hard and heavy but you can still hear most of the lyrics. That's more than you can say for metal core, death metal etc., etc.
Shaxi no it’s not you can still understand the lyrics of death metal and things like that if you focus on the lyrics
YaBoiNebula97. If you focus on the lyrics of mumble rap you can still hear them some times. You shouldn’t have to pay attention to lyrics to be able to so much as hear them.
YaBoiNebula97. If you focus on the lyrics of mumble rap you can still hear them some times. You shouldn’t have to pay attention to lyrics to be able to so much as hear them.
Shaxi. Not so much Death Metal. But 100% Black Metal. I recommend Dethlok Awaken if you haven’t heard it already. I’m not a fan of the vocals of Death Metal and really hate Black Metal. But Dethlok are pretty tolerable.
When all I hear are growls that’s wear I think it gets obnoxious
7:25 I think that goes the same for KISS
I've been to a KISS concert. They put on fantastic shows.
if you speed up and skip you can see his poster in the frame sliding
i relay wanna see teens react to dream theater
Same here
Pucy's Fan-fiction Network Yes. That reaction needs to happen :D
I love how they all called Wait and Bleed 'noise' yet that was by far the most melodic song they had done before 2004
what about purity and left behind?
Left Behind is way heavier and less melodic than Wait and Bleed
I am such a huge fan, quality content. You need more subs
I love both metal and classical, though mostly modern classical than old classical, but still, that study doesn't seems far off. And music distortion I think is artistic and still music. Music is sound, but is a combination of sounds using vocal and/or instruments. If you see the 2001: A space Oddesey, there's one specific score that is just haunting and distorted. I would still call that music. the use of harmony, rhythm, or expression of emotions, even if it's just anger or hatred or just fear, is all music.
Oz of Kamelot yep i love that 2001 "sound" first time i watched the movie i was actually scared
Oz of Kamelot You like Hans Zimmer ?
Leonardo DaSilva Yea
Oz of Kamelot as long as it's not modern pop music I am good
I have a feeling him and Corey Taylor would be great friends bc they would understand each other
Slipknot helps me to let the steam out. When i'm pissed off, i love to listen to them. this pure rage getting out with lyrics. And their live show I was at one, need more! Respect, awesome vid \m/
That bearded guy is an older version of that Evan kid...
Lol! Right?
Become The Knight FineBros' Dad is like an older version of Tyler LOL
Dream theatre is when it stops from music and into all out skill
Lol!!!!!! ^This
to add to your point about The Rolling Stones sorry for stating the obvious but the interesting relationships with drugs and alcohol kind of explains a lot
Lol
my true passion for music began when i started to listen to heavier music and started to listen to a wider range of genre and sub genre. Ive become more knowledgeable about music through this as well. it's ridiculous how much music (especially pop) that is complete garbage.
you are such a great person. i literally started watching your videos yesterday and i can tell you're the type of person i would like to not just have a bear with but also just get wasted with.
What I like most about Slipknot is the fact that they continue to develop musically. It's pretty safe to say that none of their albums sound like the others. While the first 2 albums are extremely raw and gave them the "Nu metal" label, their later workis more melodic, while still maintaining that typical Slipknot aggression, although nowadays I would consider them to be more Alternative Metal than Nu Metal. Put all their albums on shuffle and you have a great mix of ups and downs, loud and raw and and melodic vocals. I think this is why they are comparibly easy to listen and get into.
Slipknot is like a mix of Death and Nu metal
@Belladonna Punk Fartz yes same, slipknot is their own genre
Hehehe psychopathy is hereditary.... I learned that in psychology class B) *high fives myself*
Psychopaths are born
Sociopaths are made
Sanger Zonnvolt remove -path from those two words and combine them
I listened to slipknot for the first time without seeing them first and I got really hooked. But then I figured out their theatrics and this just added to my love and support for them.
I connect with Corey because it's not the face of the person I want to see, it's the music as a whole. The experience of the music is the epitome of why I enjoy it.
i'm not a fan of slipknot, but i think it's a good band to start to listen metal(there are other bands who work better for me). I think it's more easy to go on a kid who listen to slipknot and say something like: "Oh, you like slipknot, maybe you could like this band..." and go on from there than a guy who listen other type of music and want to share metal. I totally agree they put a hell of a show. It's something spectacular. Love your videos dude, keep going!
I can agree to that. Slipknot is a good "starter" metal band. They are by no means bad. Not mind blowing musically but they put on a fucking awesome show haha. Thanks for the props dude. I'll keep going for sure \m/
The laugh at 2:21 fucking awesome!
My favorite video of yours so far. Props!
I like how this guy looks at both sides of this band his not a die hard fanboy or hater, he takes a genuinely objective approach
Why did FB censor "shake" , did those slipknot fans think its shit?
Aakash Balaji its the people who dont understand it will think its shit
Daniel Alvarado "i cant control my SHIT , how the hell did i get here.."
Aakash Balaji "I can't control my shakes, how the hell did I get here."
You ever been so mad you can't control your body from shaking? That's what it is.
i love your videos love you
As someone who has participated in Slipknots crazy test during Spit it Out, it is a surreal experience. The amount of people on the same page, with the same energy, is absolutely beautiful honestly.
I think a lot of it is down to Corey. He’s just an incredible frontman who knows how to give his audience a good show
Slipknot will always hold a special place in my heart. When you get past the show aspect, and just actually listen.. the lyrics are just more raw to me than a lot of other bands. Even with songs like People=Shit I can feel the passion behind it. There's just something about them that I'll never get over.
i love all the replays of the old guy saying slingknot from the SOAD video, I crack up every time i see him!
*S L E E N G N O T*
you just earned a subscriber i love your real discussions and real commentary
One of the best reactions because he brings such an unbiased and intellectual conversation to the opinions.
He should be the most popular reaction channel because instead on jinx sitting through a video for 18 min only saying "damn" "wtf", he sits and analyzes the video so 5 or more mins of this video is his video verses 45 sec -1 min of a Jinx's video not the reaction
"You look at the Rolling Stones, it's like the Crypt Keeper just walked on stage. It's fricking gross."
I'm dying right now. Love the Stones but that's hilarious!
Can I just say that I love that you are pointing out the good things the elders are saying. Your giving credit to them when they say wise things. Your not ragging on them for being old. I also love that you took the time to know there names. I just want you to know I appreciate that
What is ignored in these videos is that these people were around for jazz, vaudeville, burlesque, William Burroughs, John Cage, dirty blues etc. and those things go back even before them. The Jazz Age was one of the wildest and dirtiest times for just about everything.
The intro made my day. Thanks dude!
the study they were talking about is very true i listen to mozart and metallica
I don't really smile much, especially from UA-cam, but you accomplish it, so you've earned a sub.
Johsty Bach i Agree he is actually a pretty good youtuber
@Johsty @Rewkee I really appreciate that guys. I don't think much of myself as a video maker but I like to think I at least have some insight. It means a lot that people can appreciate that \m/
Become The Knight Just keep up the good work :) You are realy entertaining to watch.
It’s music because of its tonal complexity from somber lows to extreme powerful rage filled highs the brutally of the sound is truly shocking and in my opinion true art
I just discovered your videos and I subscribe to you because I just couldn't believe how knowledgeable you were about music theory it blew me out of the water. it's rare these days to be able to find somebody who knows even a little bit about music theory much less the degree of knowledge you have about the different modes.
My favorite band gotta be slingknot
im a big Slipknot Fan and i understand both opinions 😊
gretings From Germany ✌
Thank you for understanding my favorite band while being respectful about criticizing
thanks for this video enjoyed it!
Slipknot have a great talent of mixing different musical genres, in one song and making it work. This is especially true of their more recent work. One of the most import aspects of art is originality. Say what you will about Slipknot, they're definitely original.
i can really relate to whatever you say. great video and great insight.
I love the interpretation of why people love metal by that lady
Clicked on one of your videos in my suggestions and this is now my fourth video in a row. Think I'm going to just subscribe!
"I've got my James Hetfield poster right here, because it's large, obnoxious, and out of place, just like Slipknot."
I laughed way too freaking hard at that.
Would the music stand on itsself? Yes. for me it did, i didn't know anything about them, and only heard the song (this was also my first time listening to actual metal, if you don't count linkin park). and dude they rocked
I heard the devil in i and before i forget along time ago but now i really getting into slipknot and i really don't think without the masks they wouldn't be as big as they are cause they are talented as shit and i 100% agree with you
You’re one insightful man, I love slipknot, I love slayer, I love glam metal. These are three completely different things but there is an appreciation for all these types of music
Your opinions are always great to follow and hear both sides, great videos and personality, along with hearing some history of the bands and your thoughts on them. ROCK ON!
I think the debate on wether it is music or not is very valid. Even Corey Taylor does Stone Sour because the music is more melodic and a little less hard hitting. But I believe that Slipknot isn't necessarily just noise because it is all interpretive. Slipknot themselves write their music to vent their emotions and deal with their inner "demons" and that is why I listen to them is to get out any aggression in a safe way.
Daniel Moore Slipknot is definitely the best go to get agression out
Love the intro
Lol I had to do something "different" for this one. I've had a stupid amount of requests for it.
Awesome Reaction bro…impressed
Glad to know me and you share pretty much exactly the same opinions man!
I love metal and I love bands like Eagles as well. Metal fans (I am not qualified enough to call myself a "Metalhead") aren't into violent shit actually. If people are shown the lyrics of songs like "Holy wars" from Megadeath or "Domination" from Pantera then they'll understand that metal actually deals with a lot more of the world than shit like pop does. Even metal wins over pop when making a love song like "This love" and "Cemetery gates" from Pantera are far better than any love song from any pop artist. Bands who make metal sound all gruesome by making disturbing videos and useless "die you motherfucker" lyrics make people think and label metal fans as stereotypical violence lovers while in reality we live the most simple life of them all. I even had a friend come over to my house and find out that I listen to metal music and ask "When did you start listening to them?" while I was long into metal.
PS: Sorry for the long comment but this issue had to be addressed
Gwynbleidd domination has such a fucking metal breakdown
I love Corey's SINGING voice, not a huge fan or his lyrics, personality or screaming though
I'll be honest, I didn't listen to the lyrics much at all lol! But yea, his clear vocals are really good. It would be interesting to see him work in other projects.
Become The Knight He does clear vocals in Stone Sour. Their cover of Creeping Death is amazing (in my opinion)
I love Corey's voice, but the music itself underwhelms me. I used to love them when I was first getting into metal, but now i find there's nothing they can do that other bands can't do better.
I love his singing voice as well, but I also love his lyrics and above love his personality, one of the best guys ever, he's straight forward and respects/cares about everyone, he's great. And I agree with a lot of his stance on things.
toki wartooth Some of his stuff in Stone Sour should suit u better...still some screaming but a little toned down lol!!!
When i was in highschool i was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, bands like Korn, Metallica Slayer and Slipknot have helped me so much with my emotions, music is in general is a really great outlet
I love how you can express both points of view, good job dude! Im a big fan of Slipknot because of the brutalness and the raw (sort of personal) atmosphere.
i find it oddly funny that you sound SO much like corey taylor (talking that is)
the thing with good ol slingknot is, the fact thats its just raw, has attitude and you can SEE it through their live shows and each members personality helps the listener to relate and feel their emotions. everyones wanted to punch some fuckhead in the face, and thats what slipknot is musically in my opinion. keep up the good content bro \m/
I’m really sad I found your channel this late. Great content
I randomly found you, I really appreciate your critiques even if I don't agree completely with you. (I love the rhythm section of slipknot as a person who is practicing bass). You seem very well thought out, and sound in your logic so it is very nice to listen to you.
i forgot Iowa existed
Aquatic Highs so if i forget about iowa i loose potato chips
Ok, slightly off topic, but thank you so much for getting me into Dream Theater like the fine bros got their dad into metel. Thamks dude
love your channel, love your taste in music and def love yor JH poster:D
Wise words man about the feelings of teenagers that got hurt and start random violence. Thanks for bringing that up. Enjoy your videos a lot. Greetings from Germany.
Well i mean i listen to death metal and other loud music, I like it regardless of whether it's music or just noise, but what's strange is if it is just noise, then why do i like some noise but not others? For instance I very much enjoy Hideous Divinity but Henker seems a bit immature to me even though it is just as loud and has a fairly unique style of drumming.
Very insightful! Preference is a weird thing man haha. It's good to ask these questions. Finding answers......that's another story lol.
The reason I wanted to see this video is because of the discussion you put out and the challenges you give us.
I'm 100% behind you saying "If this is music to you, defend it with history." I hate it when I'm listening to Mushroomhead or something and people say "How can you like that? It's just screaming and it's not even music." then I tear them a new one on "Why is rap music but somehow metal isn't" and they just shut up because they can't defend why it's music. And it's not just music, it's politics and religion and stupid stuff like superheroes. I love being challenged in a discussion but most people I talk to don't have much to add other than the same opinion reworded 3 different ways because they aren't well versed in history or even in their vocabulary.
And I wanted to see how you'd react to the guy saying "Gang members?" XD I love that.
I'm happy you get something positive out of the channel dude \m/ That's what it's about.
That gang memebers part had me rolling lol! That dude looks like he could have been in the mob.
If you are interested, I can argue a little on why rap is music. I like rap, but only some rap. I don't like most of the current rap (all that shit about paid sex, money and bling etc). Let me provide a prominent example of the rap I like: Tupac Shakur (RIP), yes he does write a few that I don't really like about the gangster scene, but his lyrics has the messages he wanted to put in. Tech N9ne is another rapper (who loves Slipknot by the way, he did a collab with Corey Taylor) I would like to bring up. Look at the lyrics and video of his "What If It Was Me", which tackles the frustrations of a cop in a dire situation of shoot or be shot. If the cop shoots, he will be seen as a villain, if the cop hesitates, he will be shot instead.
Good rap focuses on two things: Meaning behind the lyrics (they can either be obvious or just subtle), and the flow of the words, the rhythm of it. Since this is an argument of music, I would bring up the part of rhythm and flow. The thing about rap is that rappers don't just say the words out, they recite it according to the rhythm they are given. The way the rappers make that flow in their lyrics is actually dependent on the background music, or as they call it, a rap beat. Similiar to reciting poetry like how Shakespeare performers do, rappers need to plan which syllable to add more emphasis on, in order to go with the flow of the rap. That, is a form of art there.
Again, not a huge fan of rap, especially the current rap that most of my generation likes, but well, it has musical elements, there is some talent involved (or at least SOME of them).
Fun fact: Rap is actually an abbreviation: it stands for Rhythm and Poetry :)
Become The Knight I am really interested about these elders' pasts and the experiences they had, the lessons they would share
Awesome reaction, respect bro lots of good points
My first concert was slipknot, I saw them when i was 12 and it was a major turning point in my life. It is what got me into metal.
the old man bullies my "foreign country"
Shock Rock. It's awesome! May not be for everyone, but it's certainly entertaining.
I love metal!! And I remember clearly being 6-7 years old listening to classical music and loving it
I consider slipknot music because there is a harmony behind it. They aren't just smashing pot lids together calling it music. They are putting time and thought into what they are doing and making it music
