  • In this video, I demonstrate how to fix the F01 error on a Whirlpool Duet dryer. The F01 error indicates a problem with the control board or its wiring. Follow along as I start with the dryer already opened and show the detailed steps to diagnose the issue. Discover how to identify a failed solder joint on the control board, learn the proper soldering technique, and reassemble the control board housing. Watch as I reassemble and test the dryer to ensure the error is resolved. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more repair tutorials!

My pen name is Cal Kasheau. Hey, I'd like to shamelessly promote my literary accomplishments while I have your attention. I have several short story titles you can get on Amazon; the links are below. Some are humorous, some reflect events in my life, and some are legends I heard of as a child in the swamps of Louisiana. They are only a dollar or two, and most are free with a Kindle unlimited membership. I hope you will take the time to read one or two and give me your honest opinion in the comments on whether or not I should continue to pursue a side gig as an author.

Hey Chip. Approximately 1 inch to the right of the relay contact that you soldered is the other leg of the same relay, and it is also in need of your solder gun. Watch your video and you'll see what I'm talking about. The factory solder connection is a very weak solder job. Thanks, I also do what you do for a living and I always enjoy watching.

Thanks for pointing that out my friend. Unfortunately that machine has been returned to the customer but your tip will probably help others if they stop and read the comments. I’m glad you like watching and look forward to more of your wise tips for the community! Thanks for commenting!

Chip, nice repair. I like that your helping "helping hands" has a soldering iron holder. I need one of those.

Love your videos, Chip, but sometimes I have a hard time figuring out what you're saying due to the background music. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Los Angeles CA.

I have a whirlpool pause/play washer. It completes the test cycle. But it won't go into spin on and wash cycle. I replaced the shift actuator and clutch with ones I know are good. Still have the same problem. Is I possible the motor can be bad?

I’ve seen this happen several times. A machine will pass all the test when manually called upon but won’t work during the cycles. All I can figure out is there is a component on the control board that passes one function off to another during a wash cycle and I suspect it has something to do with the solid state timing function. I bet if you swap out the board it will fix your problem. Let me know if that works, Jay. I bet you have a spare somewhere.

@HarperandKnowles I'm having one of those weeks where things just go wrong. I have a maytag bravos xl. Glass top aluminum control panel. The washer keeps repeating the rinse cycle. The suspension and new and good. What else can it be.

That is a sure sign of an out-of-balance condition. Check under the wash plate. If that's the one with the large left-hand threaded nut, then that nut could have broken or loosened up. Remember, lefty tighty, righty loosey on that one. Also, if the rotor is dragging on the stator, it will cause this condition, but it usually throws a code. I can say this: I have a machine with brand-new rods in my shop right now, and there is nothing wrong with the nut or shaft. There's also water in the balance ring like there is supposed to be, and it throws a UL error every time! The guy gave me the machine when I gave up on it. I have been over that thing a million times and can't figure it out. Same situation you are having. If you do find a reason, let me know. I'm at my wit's end with this one.

Ok. I will definitely let you know. I'm going to swap some parts off a working one I have. And see what fixes it's. I will let you know
