If you had just improved your technique you would be dunking, im about the same height and reach. And dunked after about a month of flexibility and technique training. Still a great progress video!
I was just a out to say that. My man had more than enough vert. Saying he couldn't translate it to a dunk cus of bad mechanics is an understantement, he could have hurt himself. I'm no pro dunker or something, and I'm not here for hating. This video is actually a hige inspiration cus we have almost the same frame and got the same objective. I lost count how many times I watched this video this year. but only now I actually noticed about how halfway through he already had a 30+ inch vert and hadn't dunk yet cus of mechanics.
just to clarify, it's actually immensely impressive he actuslly did it all by himself, by his own effort and research, like I don't see him giving credit to any magic jumping program. but a few cues could have shortened his wait for first dunk. just to point a few, cut the stutter steps, proceed with increasing speed instead of slowing down as he gets closer to the net, and have a wider penultimate step.
Have a smoother approach, a longer penultimate step, and stay low but keep hips and core upright. Work on palming the ball as well. Put one hand under the ball and use the other to swing yourself into the air. You do not need to do so much legs. Hit legs like 2 times a week but spend a lot of time working on technique. It appears that you slow down and decelerate when you attempt to dunk. But good job and keep up the hard work
4:16 it's not about arm swing, two hand reach and one hand reach are completely completely difference, even with you feet planted flat on the floor. 4:15 and the improvement if you allow one shoulder to raise up extra high is way more than 3 inches
for me it was always easier to dunk off of one leg with one hand (it's not all about being able to palm the ball either, it's coordinated technique and hand position, cause i can just barely palm an average ball, a breeze would knock it loose), but (to me) my most impressive dunk was standing straight under the rim with 0 steps, feet planted and dunking with two hands. that was proof that my vert was at it's max. off one leg my best was a wanna-be 360 that was probably a 270). and with a running start I could pretty comfortably do a 180 reverse dunk with two hands jumping off two feet. But now at 42 I can barely get rim with 2 hands, lol
Good job mate! Hopefully you kept it up. Quick advice - if your run up for the approach jump was faster and smoother, you could easily jump 2-3 inches higher!
Tbh with good technique u could probably be doing like some windmills or some next level dunks With ur two foot technique it looks like you’re running to jump off one foot then stop out of nowhere
I need a friend like your friend who is there with you, other than that i can push myself till i dunk. Yes it takes time, but no doubt for myself. I only need friend like him
Nice video!! I’m looking to add some inches to my vertical jump too. What do you think had the biggest impact on your jump? Weight training or just jumping a lot? Also as some otters were saying, i think you can still get a bit higher by working on your technique. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Dunk off of self lob. My first dunk was a reverse dunk off of a self lob. As close as you are to cleanly nailing a running dunk, you'll easily crush a self lob once you work out the timing and height of the bounce. Great work nonetheless.
You need to learn technique of your jumping. I think you can add 4-6 inches to your vertical only by learning technique of jump. I have something like 40' vert but from standing i cant land on 53.1' box but i have perfect 2 foot jumping technique.
If you had better running and jumping form you would have been dunking way sooner. If i had to suggest how to improve it i would say go look at some of the pro dunkers like Isaiah Rivera, Tyler Currie, Jordan Kilganon, and Chris Staples. All very good dunkers with great form. Just my suggestion of course. But i think you will see instant improvements if you fix your run up.
Yeah like everyone else said, you're decelerating wayyyy too much before you jump. Pretty much looks like you're jumping off a 1 step approach. Try placing something(a bell) hanging from the height you need to reach to dunk and run and hit it over and over but concentrate on landing past the object by a few feet. That should help with your stop and jump approach. Good luck.
This just makes me upset because it took him 6 months just to go from grabbing the rim to dunking. So if I'm like 4 inches off the rim then it'll take me ages. I'm 5'8 and next year I'll be a sophomore but I was hoping to be dunking 20% of the time by then
this guy could've had a better approach, its not just about leg power, it's also form and stretching that'll add great improvement. when i started a month ago i could barely tap the rim, and now I'm able to grab rim and dunk off alley oops.
If your reach is 8'1" and have a vertical of 29" you can reach exactly 10'6". If you can barely touch your highschool rim, it means it's at 10'6". To dunk at that rim, you would need to add 6 more inches to your vertical for a total of about 35 inches. Good luck
No criticism(cuz I can't dunk) but you should've learned how to really palm the ball since it seem like you were struggling with that, I know it's too late now but hey. Nice vid still
no offense, but your form sucks. If you could improve your technique, you could easily put on 5-7 inches. Your arm swing needs to be higher and more explosive, your penultimate step needs to be a hell of a lot longer, and your rhythm needs to be on a whole other level. You can't run up, stop, and then jump, it kills your momentum and energy built up. Make sure you go into the jump low as you step into it and make sure you don't stop right before your jump. Continue through your approach. Your base seems really good to start though and I respect the journey. Keep it up!
with a smoother approach and a longer penultimate step you could easily add a few inches to your vert almost instantly
Yup, armswing is pretty slow as well.
If you had just improved your technique you would be dunking, im about the same height and reach. And dunked after about a month of flexibility and technique training. Still a great progress video!

Bro u mind tellin me what u did... I'm 5'10" n I really wanna dunk... pls help
@@toptucker9964 do plyometrics
This video gave me motivation to keep practicing dunking. Thank you so much ♥️
just improve your jumping technique, it will help you a lot
I'm working on learning to dunk myself right now. This video was really awesome, thank you very much for posting it! Best wishes to you
Yo nice video man. Keep it up, I’m 5’9 I just posted my first dunk session yesterday 🦅

This comment helps a lot, got my first dunk doing this tips. Thanks a lot brother!

I really like your determination 👏👏
Very well made video, high quality edits
Very nice bro! Im happy for your progress! Keep it up!
Glad that I found the same thinking as in my head...:) Great job, keep going!
very good work man, proud fo you
Good job mate! Hopefully you kept it up. Quick advice - if your run up for the approach jump was faster and smoother, you could easily jump 2-3 inches higher!
Your friend needs to work on his lobs dude :D Congrats on all your progress and hard work! Keep grinding!
Respect
Well done you got there in the end . Super video , filming , editing . Are you still dunking ? Any improvements
This is awesome!!
I like how you precisely calculated the numbers at the beginning👍
True inspiration
So far so good.
That's a nice specialized bike u got there :)
coooooooooooooooooooool respect !
Good job man
Good going dude! But were you taking a lot of breaks? Cause i think you could have prolly dunked in less than 3 months easy!
Knowing what I know now about training I'd have to agree with you. And not really, the only real break I took was during the winter storm
Nice job you have done
Maybe, if you learned self lob, would be faster, and better technik can add you couple inches for sure
Gj bro!
Keep it up
I'm 5'8 guy and I can reach 10ft rim but the problem is I can't palm the ball when I was tried to throw it down :(
Practice your 2-1 hand movement with a basketball on a 9ft rim.
Im the same height, I used to say the same thing until I could dunk with ease
nice bro! the power of hard work ! you can probably do some nasty dunks now
Nice
What part of Austin are these Basketball courts?
What's the routine surely your legs would need rest right? 🤔
Yo bro are 6'2 with shoes?
Tbh with good technique u could probably be doing like some windmills or some next level dunks With ur two foot technique it looks like you’re running to jump off one foot then stop out of nowhere
Outta curiosity how do u do that 0:20?
Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects

Plyos
And for squat a hood strong base( depending on height and weight) would be 1.5x body weight
Hows your jumping now 2 years later?

good technique youll be yamming
i’m 5’11 but have a 8’0 standing reach? but i can’t dunk😕yet
All about technique, really think about shifting forward momentum into downward momentum with your legs
Need a new oop thrower lmao. Good stuff
try dunking off 1 feet single handily. It helps when you can't palm the ball
All you need is plyometrics, & technique first.
you r tall enough to dunk easily
hey bro did you grow after 18?
I have 3days progress and my jump already improve to 2inch
Imagine if you didn't come to a complete stop before each jump
7,11 reach at 6,3 ?

you need to work on your one foot jumpers since they come in a lot more handy in-game
My dad was 5ft 8in and he won a dunk contest in high school
Yeah like everyone else said, you're decelerating wayyyy too much before you jump. Pretty much looks like you're jumping off a 1 step approach. it's different for everyone cuz I went from touching rim to windmilling in a year

@@UNWANTEDMINDS what kind of stretching and form did you do? thats like 6 inches of vert right there you gained . i need that lol
I feel like my highschool basketball hoops are higher than 10ft cause my standing reach is 8ft 1 and my vertical is 29'' and I cant dunk
If ur standing reaching 8’1 an ur vert 29 u should be dunking easily 1 of those r not as high or the rims like 10’6
If your reach is 8'1" and have a vertical of 29" you can reach exactly 10'6". If you can barely touch your highschool rim, it means it's at 10'6". To dunk at that rim, you would need to add 6 more inches to your vertical for a total of about 35 inches. Good luck
that gives you 10'6" barely any clearance, you would have to have perfect timing and technique to throw it down
Great vertical ! You
Just need to polish your jumping technique !! Cheers 🤙🏾✨
just needs a stronger gather.. to be more explosive
You should do some plymetric bro sa streching you look stiff when you jump
Try sprinting into the jump instead of jogging then stopping and then jumping
Williamson?😈
what kind of kyries are those?
Bandulu street couture
workout routine pleaseeee
5:17 That is not 10 Ft 8 ,more like 9”10 lol
november 31??????????????????????????????????
I'm watching this video on *November 32* 😂
Did anyone notice the “November 31” lol
9 inches is good progress for 6 months.
With a much smoother and explosive penultimate you can dunk sooner
Bro I'm 6'0 with a 7'11 reach too 😮
My age 31 my jump just 25inch
I'm 16 5'7 and can touch the 10ft rim just need 7 more inches
well now I can grab the rim need probably 6 inches more to dunk consistently
You are slowing down while approaching, you should accelerate.
You can improve your hand swing
Idk if you're going g to see this but if you worked on your form you'd definitely be throwing it down
No criticism(cuz I can't dunk) but you should've learned how to really palm the ball since it seem like you were struggling with that, I know it's too late now but hey. Nice vid still
Техники нет прыжка, если поставит технику будет на изи сажать
If u got the penultimate step up u would of diunked way easier
Improve technique and stop grabbing the rim and you will dunking easily bro
it makes me so mad how bad is technique is holy shit
no offense, but your form sucks. If you could improve your technique, you could easily put on 5-7 inches. Brooooo, if you improved your technique you'd be flying out the gym
Don't think that you're 6'2
And it is reprehensible if cannot dunk with such height
U got bad mechanics dawg imma be honest
Imma be honest dawg he could have dunked on the first day if he jumped correctly
