gives me hope! I'm 30 and I can touch rim on a good day, but I've never gotten higher. I've been saying since my 20s I want to dunk some day, but until now I haven't put in the effort. Here we go. It's now or never!
On March 3 of this year, I just touched the bottom of the basketball backboard for the first time, my height is 175, standing reach 232 cm. And yesterday, May 26, I touched the basketball hoop with 2 phalanges of fingers (previously I didn’t reach the hoop at all), it turns out that in 3 months +16 cm to the jump at 13 years old
Squats can help, just as other exercises. It just depends on how you use them. I have a comment here where i explain a little bit of it, on the comment where someone asked my height. Check it out!
Watching u since 2022. And i think if you understand how to palm the ball then u would get your first dunk even earlier. I have notice that we have similar vertical and reach )))
on a physical level I have an excellent predisposition for explosive strength, but being very thin I started a training process in the gym to put on weight, obviously I train my legs. So I ask you, in your opinion, can training my legs in the gym with classic exercises (leg curl, leg extension, barbell squats), not being explosive workouts, even decrease my jumping? Or being training regardless is useful but simply not the best for developing jumping
You will DEFINITELY improve if you do your training like that. Always doing explosive strength won't do much for you, because you Will ONLY increase your rate of force development, this Will create a plateau where the ceiling of your max strength is too low. Have in your sessions one explosive lift, 1-2 compound movement, and 2 accessory lifts. Try to balance things out and always jump 2-3 Times a week! Good luck bro you got this
@@chambi.jumpss Currently I only jump 2 times a week because i play beach volleyball and often the weather doesn't allow it, but I train in the gym the other days, so I'll keep track of the progress and will keep you updated😁 anyway I found your channel recently, but you were precise and quick in your response and I really appreciate it, it's a sign of high competence. I subscribe, don't change this way of doing things, it makes you more professional than many of your colleagues and the videos prove it. Keep going 👌🏻
The frequency Changed as the time passed. But you should have at least 48h of rest before hitting again the same muscle group That law i always respected, so sometimes i trained 3 Times a week, and sometimes 2 Times a week Right Now i'm training 3 Times a week
@@chambi.jumpssbro i haven’t started to train yet and i dunk without approach and i got a 38 inches vertical w approach (i’m 6’1), i have knee pain so i stopped playing volleyball since 3 weeks, it’s still there, how did u get rid of it ? i can’t do nothing
@@guardian250 honestly it would depend on what type of knee pain you have, but some things are certain to work. First, you need to identify what makes that pain appear, and get rid of it for some time. Next, when the pain drops, start training to get stronger, basically to handle more load before having that pain. Don't complicate it, squats, step Ups etc Will work. This has 3 phases. The slow strength phase, where you lift light and slow, then, the strength phase, where you lift more heavy, and then the eccentric phase, where you really try to adapt managing the load the eccentric forces of a jump. Can't explain more Simple than that really, but on my instagram @chambi.jumps i can help more for sure
@@chambi.jumpss damn i would have killed to be 5ft 11inchs tall … im 5ft 5 inchs tall and i could graze the rim back in my 20's. i practiced jumping from my early teens all the way to my mid 20's after high school i started focusing more on DJing and less on jumping… yesterday i found a rim that was at 9.6ft and i thought hmm lets see if i can touch it at age 44 without any jump training it was fun … i think im going to start vertical training again just to see how much of my hops i can get back … congrats on dunking i know that has to be one of the coolest feelings in the world ...
On my instagram @chambi.jumps i have multiple tests of a 40 inch vertical if you are interested, some even a bit Higher. The way i've been measuring is by subtracting my highest jump reach with my standing reach. And no, a person with that height can't Touch easily with their head, just if the rim is lower 😅
40 inches is not 4 feet and he is 5’7 and 40 inches is about 3 foot 4 and 5’7 plus 3’4 equals 9’1 therefore his head would only touch 9’1 so you are sped asf
@@chambi.jumpss Brother, I was the same height as you in high school, had a lower reach and I was dunking off the dribble on a 10 ft rim with ease and I had a 36 inch vertical at the time….. You def do not have a 40 inch vertical when you can barely get your fingers above the rim off a lob
@@lucksi701 good to hear that man, if you dunked with a lower reach is because you had a higher vertical In response to just having my fingers above the rim, i recommend again that you go look my instagram for more :) hope i helped
Your volleyball approach is horrendous bro, you could easily bounce the ball even with 75 cm jump, you just go under the ball and dont approach from outside. The technique is the problem. Your armswing is far from the right technique as well
inspiring video. love it. 🔥 reminds me a lot of my own dunk journey. Keep going! 💪
I'll stop when i'm 40!💪🤣

Dang that’s nice, I’m 12 and 175cm but standing reach is 221 (arms haven’t developed much yet) and I can get backboard

Sorry to tell u but thats not a 40inch vert😅 A 1m80 person with a 40 inch vert can touch their head on a backboard easily

40 inch is 101 cm. so the head would be somewhere at 2,81 on a 40 inch vertical jump. A regulation backboard hangs at 2,90.
