@@theovela6655 Well I think you have to build up the muscle you are using and punching uses quick twitch muscles but if the weight is too heavy, you are no longer working the fast twitch muscles and now are working the normal strength muscles. My theory is, use a bit of weight just over what feels normal when punching and work to make those weights feel normal to punch with, then go up a step in weight until that feels like the new normal and the punches feel quick and accurate. I’d like to say this would just take a few weeks but realistically, it would take months to have noticeable improvement. Like when you hit the gym for the first time in a while it feels like you’re making good progress and are putting on muscle but it’s going to take months for you to actually build the muscles the way your brain thinks they’ve been building.
Outstanding explanation. I use it to remind my mind and my body to keep my hands up always in a fight. This way you are constantly able to defend, attack and also range when necessary. Would like your comments and views too please
I have started to take my 3kg dumbells to work and as I walk around the yard ( I do security) I throw uppercuts. Hooks. And jabs. As well as curls etc and it's a great workout. And my hands speed is on point guys.👌
Do it with cables and bands. That will increase punch power.👍🏻 The resistance must be opposite of the punch, with dumbells the resistance is just down.
I always did punching drills holding weights and putting it all together with footwork and hip rotation i developed a knockout punch with either hand. Im not saying im the best boxer/fighter but i hit hard
What if you were to use weighted punches as an endurance exercise. Throw basic, moderate force punches and improve upon how long long you can last doing it. What will the end result of that be?
@@wadocombatcanada Better physical condition is what you need as a boxer or MMA without tiring and throwing more punches especially if they land wins you fights, right?
It's all individual - doesnt sound too much, but if you have a muscle imbalance or a weak muscle that is requiring other muscles to do its job, then even a can of soup could be the right weight. When in doubt - seak help from a health professional/physiotherapist, etc! They can help you determine what is right for your body.

No, it won't. It will make your punch more inaccurate. Heavy bench press and overhead press will make your punch stronger. Squats, deadlifts, power clean and power snatch, and you are good.

I regularly use 10lb for hands and 5lb for feet It really improve my speed. I learned it from Bruce Lee and you know he's fast.

For the weighted punches doing damage is true which is why you should only use 2-3 pound weights 3 pounds might even be too heavy for some
i use 15 ngl😂
Oh damn, I’ve been using 20lbs

Anatomically, bands can increase your serratus anterior strength (boxer's muscles). Which is a great additive to training.
It increases speed so maybe power too but as a boxer we use those to increase speed and stamina in the arms shoulders overall ability with your arms

Well how do we increase ouncb power sir
Does it improve stamina though aha!!! Punch output???
yes
I'm using 2 bottle that has a grip and weighted 4.99kg for training punching, uppercut and hook. Is that ok?

If you want to punch harder then you spend a lot of time punching a big hard heavy bag.
How about doing it 2 to 3 times a week.......now I have turned 55 so no chance that I am going for MMA fights....... 😀😀😀
Absolutely fine to do a couple times a week as long as you're not overloading the muscles. Unfortunately just one time too heavy can cause damage.
I dont have any lighter weights, so i use 20 pound dumbbells in each hand, which isnt even that hard anymore
go up
I shadow a lot with weight and all my sparring parter say than I have a lot of power in my punch so i think shadow weight is usefull 😎

Bench press makes you punch harder?
