Basic explanation of the major glitch (aka shadowboxing): There's a glitch that allows you to basically teleport a wooden crate anywhere* you want By putting shadowheart's corpse in the crate first and lighting it on fire, the fire will break the box and deposit shadowheart's corpse at the destination In act 1, I send her to the entrance to mountain pass, which triggers a cutscene that revives her, basically skipping all of act 1 In act 2, I send her to the elder brain cutscene trigger, which automatically puts gale into the conversation as well and lets him blow himself up For more details, tomatoanus has a really good explanation of the route: ua-cam.com/video/_LWVu7w6NSg/v-deo.html
@@jstarrett0193 yes, because everyone's computer is different and going to have different load times, so it wouldn't be fair to penalize someone just because their machine is worse. And so, load times are cut out of spedruns
the main glitch is putting shadowhart in a box and flinging her to inaccessible loading areas since a corpse of a player character still triggers them you can see him drag a box that contains shadowheart to an invalid far away position, then clicking on it again and dragging it for a split second to cause a glitch to move the box to the previously invalid position, which coincidentally is where the loading trigger is. That's how he's suddenly in different places without moving. it's called "shadowboxing" lol
@@TheMrTangamandapio how did that happen with Shadowheart appearing right next to the mountain pass? I'm assuming he somehow threw his revivify scroll all the way over there, but not sure.
@@TheNovakon okay, but how did she get there? how is she right at the mountain pass? Gale entered camp at the door to Wither's temple, these are two very different locations.
This is the equivilent to a DM writing a 50 or so session campaign, but makes the fatal mistake of allowing the minmaxer to have the special ability that one shots the big bad endgame boss, and he proceeds to complete the campaign in a single session
Poor Shadowheart need to be sacrificed and put in a box for this to happen 😂 and then the dream guardian looks like Gale, I can't 😂 anyway, congrats on making a new world record 👍🏻
For some reason killing shadowheart, putting her in a box, and burning it allows you to put that box out of the map where it triggers being at the end of the Act so you get teleported to the last cutscene
I think it's a procedural outcome of several things discovered independently of each other. Corpses cannot be easily moved around, but boxes can, party members, even when dead, trigger certain cutscene trigger zones, but a dead party member in a box cannot, however, if the box is on fire, it has a self destruct timer to release the party member, then they found a bug to move around movable objects to different locations on the map, and it doesn't necessarily have to be shadowheart, but shadowheart is the first companion you meet that is viable for this in singleplayer. At least this is my understanding of it, someone who is more well versed in the run could correct me. But that's really how any speedrun route develops, a bunch of small exploits roll into the full run. @@FUZ2706
wait, so all the environments in the game exist in one single space? that's the only way you can get to the elder brain cutscene without a loading screen... crazy how all of that's loaded in one go. Must be why he cranked down his settings
FPS drops and hitches are generally going to result in needless time-losses. The separate acts exist in different spaces, but each of the three acts are mostly connected, but they aren't actually all loaded all at once because no PC or console would be able to run that. They load things in as you approach them. Every load screen that *is* in this video marks when something genuinely is a separate environment

Box gets sent to the other end of the map via glitchy barrelmancy, then it finishes burning and shadowheart's corpse falls out of it. you can skip act 3 by having gale blow up in the mindflayer colony at the end of act 2. How he got there from the begining of act two by killing shart, shoving her in a box, and then setting the box on fire I have no clue about.
You can have Gale detonate right before the final fight if act 2, but it counts as a bad ending (and you don't get your achievements for beating the game), vut you do get the credits
@@leonblack1919 Apparently, dead companions still trigger cutscenes. You can't move a dead companion, but you can move a box. If you put them in a box, put that box somewhere that causes a cutscene (behind a rock, apparently?), and cause that box to break - releasing their body - they trigger the cutscene.

Out of morbid curiosity, does it specifically have to be Shadowheart? Or would any companion do and she's just the quickest to get?
