This is set before the Alien movie, it is how the Aliens evolved into what you see in the first Alien movie (they were found on a similar ship with the dead Architect in the cockpit seat)
engineer*
I think i'll stick with the books canon where the xenomorphs are from another planet the elephantlike alien from Alien(1979) had taken specimens from said planet.
Prometheus is just set in the same universe.
@@scorp77snake Except the space jockey has the same biomechanical aesthetic as the xeno. Wouldn't make sense to be from a different planet. Also Giger art corroborates the jockey head for a helmet in preproduction art for the original Alien.
@@reptomicus i hate these “i wanna be ignorant i don’t want new stories told in this universe that explain things” types, your head canon is your head canon but doesn’t mean it’s canon lmao Especially when Ridley already said the 3rd prequel will show the derelict ship and the 3rd Larger More Aggressive Engineer race (Super Engineer) that was known as space jockey in the 80s
@@dagreatestwonder23 I wonder in what way he will fuck up that one. Prometheus doesnt already make sense, as these idiots cut out the most important explanation/revelation in the movie, done by the Architect.
Because he is supposed to explain how the Architects tried to spread live on Planets many times but only on Earth it actually worked. Then they watched humanity evolving and then tried to teach them the real value of life, he mentions how they took a young Boy from his Mother to teach them their values and World View but as they send him back, he got punished for his teachings (yes, it was Jesus). Then they gave up on humanity as we just wouldnt learn. Weylands demand for immortality in the end was the final kicker and the single Survivor decided to end it all as we were an absolute disappointment. Oh, and a funfact: they called the black goo "Blood of the Father".
"Prometheus" is actually a Prequel to "Alien", set about 30 years earlier
And this race of tall people is generally referred to as the 'Engineers'. You likely recognized the horseshoe-shaped Ship to be of the same type as the wreck on LV426.
Also Alien is not about Aliens, but androids.
The director actually refuted this; it's not meant to be an Alien prequel
@@gayhomosexuallll yeah, that waa before the movie was released though.
Would have expected it to be black and white...
@@gayhomosexuallll This film leads into the tellingly-named ALIEN: Covenant. It is absolutely a prequel to Alien.

@ ItsAPrimate , this is a prequal - Ripley isn't even born yet!
I have looked up the Aliens timeline several times to piece the stories together. When the crew of the Prometheus go to LV-223 it is the year 2091. Ellen Ripley was born the next year in 2092. In 2122 Ripley’s crew on the Nostromo find the aliens on LV-426.
Me over here who just memorized the entire wiki instead: I... understand... EVERYTHIIIIIIIIING!!!
You sir, Know your shit. I applaud you.
This is considered a prequel to all the other alien movies. The squid she gave birth to is basically the very 1st face hugger and the xenomorph is the 1st alien.
The xenomorphs have been around for thousands of years. This is a separate incident showing you the black chemical and what it can do in a specific situation. It expands on the engineers and the alien universe, nota prequel.
Problem is that it makes no f'ing sense whatsoever.
@@QuayNemSorr I don't think these prequels were necessary whatsoever. LOL. Like the Aliens' origin story was ever a thing that needed to be addressed? Hollywood producers really have a struggle with how to milk these franchises. It's hilarious how hard they try and the results are equally hilarious. The Alien does not require an origin story.
Also there's a big ass picture of an alien on the ship by the black goo
@Not Alfie then that means he retcon everything and ruined it lol goodbye alien franchise.
This is my 3rd favorite Alien film after the 1st and 2nd one, although the characters are dumb af in this film, the film still looks breathtakingly gorgeous
You think they are dumb in this one? The last one makes these look like hawking
@@disclaimer.imjokin I know, right! The last film should have been made into a comedy because of how dumb the crew was. smh.
This movie gets a thousand times better when you watch UA-cam videos about the lore. There's one that translates the conversation between Weylan and the Engineer or Deacon. They really should have used the translation
What did it say!!!

im sure someone has pointed this out already but the ship, and the chair, and the big pale alien’s elephant suit are the same type * that we saw in the first alien. We see it when they are exploring the crashed crescent ship and the giant body with the hole in its chest. the same ship that had all the eggs in the bottom .
The planet from Alien was LV-426 the one in Prometheus was LV-223.
Yeah, the 18 foot long elephantine bio mechanical creature fused into its chair was obviously a 7 foot tall bald albino bodybuilder in a spacesuit.
God, I hate Prometheus so much.
@@DeanStrickson well that ship was over 100,000 years old. This one was like around 2000 years old. so all it did was bring more questions. The space jockey could still be something different that they have yet to expand on. If they ever do ( probably not).
@@DeanStrickson The comics are worse, they look like Dumbo the cartoon XD
Hahaha yeah I mean things don’t add up I just wanted to point out the callback or reference even if it is... Um... problematic
It took them 15 years to make another ALIEN movie, not counting the crossovers. They brought back Ridley Scott to make this movie happen, as he was the only one who understood what the fans wanted.
Shame as a fan this is not what I wanted... I find both this movie and covenant to be utter garbage
What the fans wanted was the Xenomorph origins to be mysterious, makes them more terrifying knowing nothing about them, besides the fact you can't stop them. Idk why he thought a 5 movie origin story was a good idea
@@thomassencindiver two of the best films in the series
@@foundhorrificgames.2505 Maybe to you, but I disagree. The first movie was so forgetable when I rewatched it I didn't even know what was going to happen next. The second one was just meh. These are just my opinions. But speaking for all fans might be a bit much is all I'm saying. We're all entitled to our own opinion. I know it's hard when you love something to hear others don't share that love, but I simply don't. For me, nothing compares to the original Alien movie. And Aliens is just a classic for me, nostalgia might play a part as well, but I find it to be an excellent movie.
@@MultiDannyboy1995 I know I'm a minority in this opinion. But I actually prefer the Alien Vs. Predator story line and origins more thrilling than Prometheus and Covenant xD Even though that is terrible all in it's own way. But lets wait and see what happens in the next chapter of Ridley Scotts saga, I always hope it's good but at this point I have my doubts.
A lot of people dislike these newer films but as a fan of the whole Alien universe I always found them super interesting and creative despite some major plot holes
What major plot hope in this movie?
The way I see it, there were at least two political factions among the humanoid aliens. One decided to seed promordial worlds with their DNA. Another was against doing this and created the xenomorphs to wipe out what the other faction created.
There is something similar in Raised by Wolves. One faction wanted to take the human embryos and spread them to different planets and the other faction wanted to keep all the embryos together on the ark.
*This movie is a prequel*
20:13 Remember in alien 1 when Ripley entered a similar ship and found one of these giants dead in the same place with that armor? That happened before the face hugger infected the first crewman.
There’s a deleted scene where the first two guys to die encounter a “snakeskin” like the original Alien. I really wish they left it in.
I've read a lot of the old scripts and drafts for this movie and never heard that!
This movie was supposed to be its own thing but set in the Alien universe, but all that went out the window with Alien Covenant

Ridley Scott knows how to make a movie look GREAT. And I love the soundtrack to Prometheus.

This is basically the origins for how the Aliens were created and how the ship crashed in the first alien
The giant white guys are Engineers. The alien at the end was called a Decon. And the squid looking Alien is a Trilobite.
For someone who watched all the Alien movies quite recently, you surely missed a lot about how this a prequel and not a sequel. I'm just stunned how you missed the date difference between this movie and the others, didn't recognized at all the alien ship, wich we saw on the first movie, the pilot chair the Engineer used at the end and called it a "gun", when we saw it in the first movie, didn't connected the dots with Weiland and all the Weiland references in the previous movies...oh well
Casual movies fans. They never Look at details but only visual
Although this is an unpopular opinion, I genuinely think this is my FAVORITE “Alien” film. It’s super strange, insanely well-shot, cerebral, and gets better/makes more sense on every rewatch. David is my favorite character in the whole franchise.

I love this movie the feeling of mustery around the engineers and exploring our own existence not just the xenomorphs wiping us out every movie lol

There is a deleted scene where the engineer talks when David wakes him up, you should check that out
Aliens, alien and prometheus are my favorite alien movies. The soundtrack to prometheus is mesmerizing and beautiful.
Did you notice that the horse shoe shape of the alien ship was the same as the ship in Alien 1979 and Aliens in 1986? Was this an origin story for the Queen in the first two movies? Was the baby that Elizebeth Shaw had, the 1st face hugger and the Alien (Creator), was he the host for the first Queen "Alien"?
Nope, the planet where Ripley's crew found the eggs is planet LV-426. Planet in Prometheus is LV-223.
I've never understood people getting mad about the Xenomorph's origins in this film. They've literally have human skulls in their heads since the first Alien film. You also have the Dog Alien, which points to this exact thing. Like am I just missing a key factor in people's disdain for it?
people don’t like their nostalgia being modernised. they want to keep their movies for them and anything that’s different is a crime to the soul of the original movie.
Personally I liked Prometheus, but I can understand why people dislike it as well. It's not always a good idea to explain the origin of your horror, as it demystifies that horror.
@@blinkachu3394 I get that in most cases, but the explanation was always right there to begin with in Alien.
People think David created the alien. Which is false. The engineers created the aliens. There's a xeno mural in their ship. David only replicated the process. Like we plant trees. We only replicated the process that nature invented to create trees.
@@raam726 that’s a deacon the original xeno creation
This is a prequel, set long before Alien.
So their ways-The goo, the snake, these are the old ways......
I love these prequels. Awesome productions. David is my favorite part and I really hope Ridley Scott gets to finish his "David Trilogy"
Same here beautifully made films. Hope we get a third film from Ripley Scott
The black stuff is a mutagent. This is a prequel to Alien, so its not a "new" way to create a xenomorph.
Prometheus and alien covenant are prequels to the old alien movies. We see how the xenomorph came to be.
When you get to the AVP movies, be aware Prometheus and Covenant were made without considering those to be connected to the main movies
This movie is a prequel to alien what you watch was the ship that Ridley and her crew found. The alien in this movie laid the eggs that ripley’s crew found.
Nope, the planet where Ripley's crew found the eggs is planet LV-426. Planet in Prometheus is LV-223.
I can honestly say that the whole C-Section sequence with the Squid Alien freaks me the freaking heck out. It's honestly the most disturbing scene I've seen...ever.
FYI, I watched Midsommar (Extended Cut) on iTunes. Even that entire movie wasn't as freaky as the Squid Alien Cesarean scene in Prometheus
There’s so much lore to uncover from the alien universe in this movie. The engineers story is so cool, it’s a shame they cut a lot of stuff out which might have explained the story better. The opening scene where the engineer sacrifices himself and falls into the water was their way to seed life on earth
Honestly, people like to call this a prequel and I know officially it’s part of the same universe as Alien, but I firmly believe that Ridley Scott made it more a reimagining of the original. Like an alternate take on similar ideas, with references and call backs.
@José David Cortes Garay Right, I am saying I think it was intended as a remake/reimagining, which would include things like Weyland-Yutani. But fandom wants everything to connect, so the studio moved the series in that direction with the follow up.
@José David Cortes Garay 2090s, not 2991
"Why don't you guys run to the side?"
Said every person who watched this movie since 2012.
I'm saying it again, there was no CGI in Alien 3, it was all practical! Also funny how the moment you mentioned "creating androids" an ad pops up with the Samsung android with a guy singing "yeaaah"! xD
Prometheus was a prequel. The vases were the original eggs, the octopus thing is the original face hugger and the alien at the end is the og xenomorph
And the huge human things were the engineers
Prometheus was designed to be the first of a trilogy that would have detailed the evolution of the xenomorph from its beginnings to that seen in the original Alien film. That plan was scrapped when the studio demanded a more traditional Alien film, hence Covenant.
LV-426 is the planet in 3 films of the alien franchise.
The weyland-yutani corporation has had much interest in this world for a long time.
Bringing back what's on this world.
Of course, it's the worse idea possible.
Here's the timeline:

Aliens-2179 ad (sequel)
Ever since the original Alien movie came out, there has always been questions surrounding the “space jockey”, the creature that the crew of the Nostromo find on the derelict spaceship. The creature that had a hole in its chest. This movie- Prometheus- aims to answer all of those questions by starting 30 years before the first movie, so it’s a prequel. So you’re not going to see Ripley, just a beginning foundation of what the space jockey is, what it was doing out there, and how the aliens came to be.
They don't run at the side, because you said it: a lot of shit falling from the sky.
This happens before Alien my friend
David's quote was from the movie Lawrence of Arabia. The Arab prince asks Lawrence why he has come to the desert. The Arab prince reasons "There is nothing the desert, and no man needs nothing."
"Why don't you guys run to the side?"
They went to the "Rickon Stark School of how to run to avoid things falling/flying straight at you"
Graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Top of the class!
This movie was a prequel, coming before all the Alien movies. It takes place in 2094 while Ripley's Alien takes place in 2122. But don't analysis it too much because it didn't make any damn sense. And Alien Covenant is worse.
When you're ready, watch Predator, Predator 2, then AVP (Alien VS Predator).
the alien from alien 3 was not cgi.
it was made with a then pioneering technic they called mo-motion.
a small articulated puppet controled by stilts from below.
and although it gave the alien weight-realistic movements they screwed up the lighting and filming of it.
i don't know if mo-motion ever went anywhere later, or if cgi just took over.
Great reaction, and the story of this film and alien covenant take place before the first alien movie, and while some have different canon watching order this is mine, predator 1-2 AVP 1&2 predator 3 Prometheus, alien covenant, alien 1,2,3,4
Predator and alien aren’t canon, you’re confusing the fact that both species exists in both universes but those are 3 universes, predator universe, avp universe & alien/prometheus universe
@@dagreatestwonder23 they are canon for me! Everybody has their own head canon and viewing preference, and if one is doing a alien/ predator viewing like prime is then the list i provided is good timeline wise, present day- the futuristic events!

this one and covenant are prequels to Alien. it shows the evolution of the xenomorph. the biological weapon the bald dudes made mixed with the human cells and when they had sex the first creature was made and when it grew and was removed through c section, instead of ripping out of the body, it then mixed with the bald dude and that creature was the first xenomorph.
"This is why you don't go looking for god" lmfao. Taken out of context that line could be a problem. 😆
Watch the alternate versions of all the scenes with the engineer. They're better than what made it into the final movie.

I take that you missed the significance of the alien god getting into what you thought was a gun. That was the giant alien from the first movie that was in the chair at the beginning
Prometheus has one of the best scores in cinematic history.
This is actually a prequel to Alien. Prometheus is set in 2093 and Alien is set in 2122-So a 29 year gap.

You can say its the Origin of the alien because those ships u see them on the old alien movie were they find the eggs
This was basically a prequel to Alien. Like how they came to be, further expanding on it in Alien Covenant.
This film happens before Alien. This film & Alien Covenant are prequels. Roger Ebert placed this on his Runners Up list for Best Of The Year for 2012. James Cameron praised it as well.
Shaw was infected when she had sex with her partner.
Prequel movie about the beginnings of the alien species and the before events of the first movie.
If you remember, the "recording" of the 'big' things running were the same species as the orignal alien in the chair of the crashed ship on LV426. Remember they studied the body and noted that the explosion on chest seemed to blow outward (chest burster)

Again, the xenomorph in Alien 3 was not CGI. It was a rod puppet in front of a blue screen.
Also the ship that they go on is the same style of ship they go on in the 1st alien movie.
But Prometheus and Alien: Covenant is another series. We always thought there would be an Alien 5 at some point, with Ripley 2.0 and Aliens on planet earth. That never happened. Prometheus and Covenant are a prequel series to the original Alien series. And there might be a third prequel film in the future. So don't expect Prometheus and Covenant to be Alien 5 and 6. Actually the timeline is way before the first Alien movie. Ripley isn't even born. The first Xenomorph isn't even created yet. I think that's no spoiler, that's just something you should know, before watching these movies.
Talking bout Predator, you might see this as a SpinOff series to Alien, while Alien vs Predator is a Crossover series for both. Look at it like 4 different movie series, all connected to another. Original series (Alien 1-4), a prequel series (Prometheus, Covenant, ?), a spinoff-series (Predator 1-4) and a crossover series (Alien vs Predator 1-2)
I don’t even need to see the title or watch the video I hit the like as soon as I click on the video 😂 love the reactions man keep it up!
In the whole “Aliens” timeline this movie takes place before Ripley and the first Alien movie. This isn’t the “new” Alien....it’s actually “pre” alien....they haven’t evolved into the form they have like in the “Ripley” Alien movies
This Set Looks With CGI
The last xenomorph is the deacon if i recall. Smaller and not nearly as deadly as the Alien Xenomorphs.
The tentacle alien at the end is the one she pulled put of her because remember it doesnt take long for them to grow
"Why don't you just run to the side?" Is a question many of us asked when we saw the movie

This and the next one are actually set before Alien and this movie is Directed by Ridley Scott who did the Original film.
I have a friend that worked both on this and Alien Covenant and these films had a good mix of both Practical FX and CGI. In Covenant there is a scene where I thought it was CGI but saw a making of to find that the shot I thought was CGI was actually done practically.
