Visually both Prometheus and Covenant are fantastic. I really love their atmosphere but hate what they did to Elizabeth Shaw in Covenant. She was surprisingly a very likable character. I didn't care about anyyne in Covenant and that was a big "minus" but still hope Ridley will finish this series of prequels with Alien: Awakening
I agree. I really liked her character and was very saddened that they killed her off, like the whole “Hicks Newt” effect in Alien 3.
The only person I found likeable in Alien: Covenant was the character Tennessee played by Danny McBride. But, yeah, it was really screwed up how Elizabeth Shaw was killed off, and even worse, how this film ended.
Michael Fassbender is amazing. Carries this film a lot for me
To me the Aliens are the highlights in the movie
Fassbender is great in everything I've seen him in tbh, I really loved him as magneto too!
@@jermainehaslam5634 Magneto is my favorite Fassbender role
@@hendrikjansen7130 Same man
@@jermainehaslam5634 he’s amazing in inglorious bastards aswell. He’s in a lot of movies and he always gives a rather good performance.
This movie has introduced Neomorphs which is a big PLUS. I'd love to see the Neomorph vs Xenomorph fight in the future Alien films
Definitely, it's a shame the fight got removed from Covenant.
not canon anymore
Not a fan. Thing looks silly a shell and can't take it seriously. Condom on legs. The absolutely terrible cgi doesn't help it either
This movie introduced imbeciles which is a big minus.
@@HaohmaruHL "Condom in legs"
That's baseless nonsense.
"The absolutely terrible cgi doesn't help it"
And I can confirm that you are stupid too.
The CGI was 100% objectively good.
The white ones are actually called Neomorphs. It amazes me how vicious they are right from birth. Even xeno chestbursters run away so they can grow safely or find some food. I’m pretty sure Neo’s don’t have acid blood
There’s some pretty clear differences in David’s xenos and the xenos we saw in the other movies that make me think David hasn’t refined them yet. They don’t look bio mechancial like they can blend into machinery, the chestburster was more like a mini adult instead of a big worm, the facehuggers take longer to knock someone out and their acid isn’t as strong and they can implant an embryo way faster
There’s a short film on the blu ray of David explaining his experimentation and his intention to make a queen.
As stated by Michael Fassbender, David’s gone ten years without any maintenance, so his human qualities have gotten momentum
the black ones that david created is protomorph he didnt create xenos
I read that the Neomorphs are lab created but the Xenomorphs are natural. The Neomorphs are faster and really vicious but no match for the bigger, stronger and tougher anatomically Xenomorphs. There was a scene cut out of this film of a Xenomorph killing a Neomorph.
David didn't create the Xenomorphs, he produced his own variant dubbed Protomorphs (or Praetomorphs), and they're based on the Xenomorphs as created by the Engineers.
Should have watched the two Prologues. They're only like 4 minutes each and introduced all the characters and showed what David and Elizabeth did inbetween Prometheus and this one.
Still doesn't save this disaster
@@HaohmaruHL Also, I'm very firmly against filmmakers expecting us to do homework before coming to the theater. If something is important enough that we should really watch it before seeing the movie ... then you really should just put it IN the movie.
yer talking to a gen Z...he cant even focus on what's 5 minutes from now.
1. Alien
2. Aliens
3. Prometheus
4. Alien: Covenant
5. Alien 3
6. Alien: Resurrection
That scene where Shaw is in that machine cutting the alien out of her stomach alone is enough for me to place Prometheus at #3. Such a great scene.
Yes I agree, this scene is very cool ! Unfortunately, the blood in that machine disappears in some shots, because there is censorship.
These Alien movies are 🔥
@Por Qué? It was good movie.
@Por Qué? no
@@danieleneves4702 yes
PLEASE watch the deleted scenes from this movie! They really help fill in the gap between Prometheus and Covenant, and we actually see David and Shaw on the ship!
i drop link to him also if you want to go deep on this look into kroft talks channel david didnt not create xenomorphs
Just as beautifully shot as Prometheus
Not exactly high on the list of what makes a movie good
@@ashscott6068 still masterclass cinematography, that’s what I like about the two
@@ashscott6068 It depends on the kind of movie. The Alien films are "arthouse horror" (with possibly the exception of Aliens) so the aesthetics are one of the most important aspects about them.
I was surprised the planet is actually real location. Thought it's all cgi when I watched it first time.
yup, same DP
If you ask me, Alien - Alien Isolation - Aliens is the perfect Alien trilogy! I do like Alien 3 but Isolation deserves to be in that perfect trilogy.
This movie rocks. I love Ridley Scott's prequels. I really hope he gets to finish the David Trilogy. Shoutout to Jed Kurzel's awesome musical score too.
I think this movie has some problems, but I definitely like it.
@@ramonbetzler7786 Yep Jed Kurzel Did A Score & Recorded At London
are you all high😂😂?
With these new alien movies we were played like a damn flute and ridley scott did the fingering
I don't care what fans think about this movie, I love Alien: Covenant ! This movie is so underrated !
It’s my favourite in the franchise
@@foundhorrificgames.2505 I understand :) ! In my opinion, Covenant is not perfect, but I think that this movie is better than Prometheus (I like this movie too), and now I want a sequel ! Fassbender is phenomenal (David is a great character), the music is good, the cinematography of this movie is really beautiful. I like the Neomorph design. This is my top 3 favourite Alien movies : Alien, Aliens, and Covenant !
@@bestem8338 David wants to kill people because...How did he create eggs? And don't argue that the crew are imbeciles.
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p He wants to kill people because he hates humans, he hates his creator, and Weyland had no respect for his creation. In Prometheus, David wanted to be free. Now, he wants to be a God, a creator. So he killed engineers (creators of humans), to become THE god, to rule the galaxy, David loves his creation. And I never said that Covenant was a perfect movie. I know, no movie is truly perfect !
I don't care about the intelligence of this crew, some characters from previous movies were stupid too. If the characters in a movie are intelligent, there is no movie. I mean, sometimes I think that our world is not coherent, our reality doesn't make sense, and some people are just dumb, it's the truth.
@@bestem8338 He hates his creator who "didn't respect him" (by telling him that he is machine, I guess? What a sensitive droid...) so he wants to kill all humans in most horrible ways?
When weird android who just screamed "No!" when you shot a monster, led you to a trap where half of your crew died, showed you his experiments with biohazard and human organs, tells you to put your face into disgusting egg with something inside...I guess you will do it?
If the characters in the movie are intelligent, there is no movie...Wow. Just wow. So I guess characters in Back to the Future, Terminator 2, Godfather, Die Hard are imbeciles? Writing doesn't matter, you can make them do whatever you want, audience will swallow it, right? I guess you like GoT season8, Star Wars 7-9, Predator 2018, Ghostbusters 2016, Harry Potter and Cursed Child, Terminator 5-6, Batwoman?
These movies are visually stunning and introduce some interesting ideas. Unfortunately they both rely on the characters being exceptionally stupid and that's a sign of poor writing. I'm also not a fan of what they do to the lore. Tying the engineers and xenomorphs back to humanity in the way they did makes the universe feel so small and coincidental.
Completely agree, especially regarding Covenant.
"why you not getting up and fighting?!" uh.. when is the last time you been scared to death, your body goes to shock, you have very little control over your body and emotion, reason why soldiers and cops are trained so they dont freeze in battle.
They are trained astronauts whos mission is to colonise planets. They must have all of this to survive. Fuck, even children would just run.
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p astronauts are not trained to fight for their life against alien life. As far as they knew there were no such thing as aliens.
@@Retrovorious They are on different planet where can be whatever life forms. They don't even wear space suits? They risk 2000 lives to go into suicide mission to save one girl? Do the words safety of duty mean something to them?
When weird android who just screamed "No!" when you shot a monster, led you to a trap where half of your crew died, showed you his experiments with biohazard and human organs, tells you to put your face into disgusting egg with something inside...I guess you will do it?
@@user-xx6vy9ri8p yeah you’re talking about all the things that just now happened to them, which they weren’t ready for. Fear can cause otherwise normal people to act really dumb at times, that’s what humans are. In real life people act stupid when faced with situations they’ve never encountered. Not everyone is a hero, the reason why they are celebrated is because they can act rationally in those situations.
I honestly find these prequels to be pretty underrated. Yes severely flawed in terms of writing but the ideas and themes both films introduced are amazing when you analyze it. Hope a sequel happens at some point to wrap it all up.
To be fair blowing the aliens out the air lock on a ship is the only way, if you don't want to die to, considering it would just completely destroy everything the blood touches
I feel like David helped them because he knew he hadn't no control over that alien then the other ones. And with it being onboard there was no way in hell he could experiment on people to perfect it. Because it would just kill everyone.
3:52 Produced by DAVID and WALTER 🙃
People are giving you bad info in the comment section. This is not the same planet that Ripley landed on Alien and Aliens.
Walter was named after producer on the movie, Walter Hill. He is a famed writer, director, and producer; including directing the cult classic film, The Warriors.
I think David transferred himself into ash when he connected with mother
we already know in this movie he is able to download himself into other androids
So who’s to say he didn’t just download himself into the mother AI after he was done his experiments and waited till another android close to the beacon connected to the system
Ash even repeats David’s lines in this movie
It’s the perfect organism and you have my sympathies
why would they specifically say sympathies like there’s multiple people in one body
David slipped up and acknowledged ash and Walter
Otherwise he would have just said you have my sympathy
Great reaction, I'm looking forward to the sequel. It's not canceled, just name change. Ridley Scott is directing despite what some people are saying.
This is a good film that some people can’t accept because the story went in a different direction than they wanted. They are vocal but still a minority.
This is one of these movies Ive started to appreciate way more over the years along with prometheus.
Ridley Scott would've made 2 more films to finish the franchise.
Bringing the franchise full circle to where the 1979 original began.
Now that Disney owns Fox, it's not known for sure if there will be a resolution to the franchise at all.
Alien Covenant is N°3 in the entire alien saga ranking. Change my mind!
If you're looking for more goodness from Ridley Scott you should watch Blade Runner (The Final Cut)!
Then Blade Runner 2049, which is arguably better!
@@mr.moviemafia yh I’d say a lot better
Weyland and Tyrell basically run the same company. Both building dangerous replicants!
😴😴
@@JCG52577 there's a cool feature in Prometheus that implies Eldon Tyrell was actually Weyland's mentor.
Pretty accurate ranking. Mine:
1. Aliens
2. Alien
3. Alien Covenant
4. Alien Resurrection
5. Alien 3
6. Prometheus
Alien resurrection is quite good, but it has a weird goofy vibe at some points, can't take it seriously.
Alien 3 has its lenghts, and I have to watch out not to fall asleep. 🙈 Prometheus is okay as a movie on its own, but not really what I expect from an Alien movie.
But I'm a fanboy and I enjoy everything. It's not that something is unwatchable.
Resurrection really feels like some of the old 90s Aliens comics, full of mad scientists, genetic experiments and weird characters.
@@GeeVanderplas Wasn't it written by Joss Whedon? I mean, it totally feels so. Comical and whacky.
@@wolfgangengel4835 Yes it was. The main crew really feels like the prototype for Firefly and it's definitely got Whedon's typical quirky dialogue. It's weird, but it kinda works for a one-off Alien movie.
White Aliens: Xenomorphs, Black Aliens: Protomorphs - precursors to Xenomorph.
Thanks for another awesome reaction video.
It didn't occur to me after seeing it at the theater, but I love the continuity regarding how both David and Ash admire and protect the xenomorph. I really hope we can get one more film to finish this prequel trilogy that will help bridge the gap.
I justify their incompetence because the crew is just colonists, not soldiers. In Aliens they said the terraformers were just a Mom and Pop operation. Their job is just to go to a planet, run the equipment and breed more humans. It's not like that takes any special skills.
Yeah but in Prometheus they were scientists, so no excuse lol
Look... even if you guys may not like the movie as a whole, you cannot deny the majesty of Jed Kurzel.
The score he did for Covenant was divine and scary. You do also hear the familiar Jerry Goldsmith themes from the original movie as well.
Very intense score and it sends chills up my spine every time I hear it.
Did anyone else notice that the movie producers are called david and walter?
Remember when Xenomorphs had to gestate for a while before "hatching." And they came out as a snake-looking thing that was pretty vulnerable until it grew to maturity, which took a little bit of time too ... because Ridley Scott doesn't.
its becouse david dint create xenomoph he created protomorph and mutated it if you remember he asked captain to smell from cup, its sub spicie
Fun fact: Demián Bichir the actor who played the bad guy in Godzilla v Kong, is in this film too.
What I don't get is the fuss, whether it is from David or even the Engineers, about those new species they have created. They look at it as a great achievement... but it's just some relatively primitive lifeforms. They behave like animals. How are those things a step above humans? Sure they are dangerous as hell. But in this case they are good as military weapons at best, and that's if you could ever control them.
David is probably the most interesting character out of both Prometheus and Covenant
Can’t wait for the Predators reactions!
Honestly, Alien Covenant wasn't that bad of a Movie I thought it was good but I'll be looking forward to your reactions on Predator
I hope he watches Terminator too.
@Not Alfie I like Alien: Covenant that much, because it feels like an alien movie at least. While Prometheus is just something else. For me Covenant is the best Alien movie since Aliens.
@Not Alfie lmao watching movies for anesthetic?
I’m pretty sure David didn’t start the aliens but ima check
ya he didn’t he just made his own hybrids
@@JustIce-hs5rx But these hybrids look exactly like xenomorphs...despite we saw pictire of one on a wall in Prometeus...
@Not Alfie oh
@Not Alfie scott is himself mistaken, which i don't know how that's possible since the mofo created this shit.
In Prometheus we see a xenomorph mural on the alien ship wall which means they were a thing before David got his hands on em. The engineers created the black fluid from which the xenos are born. Therefore, engineers created xenos.
All david did was replicate the process the way we cloned a sheep named dolly many years ago.
@@raam726 Ridley Scott never wrote Alien. Thank God.
SPOILERS: I was in awe during the whole sequence that follows Ledward and Karine’s journey back to the Faris’s shuttle, all the way up to it’s explosion. The worsening condition of the Ledward, his seizure. And then watching Karine hold him as he’s violently convulses was honestly terrifying.
And then, Faris’s complete shock and panic, first at the sight of the back-bursting alien, and then its confrontation and killing of Karine -- it gave me fucking chills, man.
Karine’s acting and her line “let me out. Let me the FUCK out” -- her and Faris’s acting and helplessness -- damn, my jaw was utterly slack.
This sequence alone made the entire movie for me -- how everything just completely falls apart.
It was just incredible.
Yes Androids can grow hair in the beginning of Prometheus he was dying and cutting his David I mean
Those humanoids weren’t Engineers, they were just another civilization they created
If you are going to explore a planet, you must wear a helmet and protection,This group deserves this infection, remember when in prometheus 1 or Alien everyone was protected? haha
David did a Protomorph not a Xenomorph, but he still did an excellent job, almost perfect
18:24 that's why this one already has arms and legs, it's not a cream-colored snake like every Baby xenomorph
I agree 100 percent bro it is a great Trilogy I love how alien 3 caps the 3 films it goes full circle but yeah I love this film (alien covenant) U should check out some fan edits they put in almost an hour extended n longer scenes makes the film more amazing
Alien Gods create Man. Man creates Robot. Robot kills Alien Gods. Robot creates Xenomorph. Xenomorph kills Man. And something something inherites the Earth.
When recording this movie, I think I heard that the movie was fimled in like the Neatherlands or somewhere up from Europe for like scenes like in 8:57
You got it exactly right for the 1st 3 rankings: 1 ALIENS 2 ALIEN 3 ALIEN COVENANT. But I was disappointed you didn't like Prometheus. I think PROMETHEUS belongs in the second tier with Covenant. But the last 2 of the Original Series- Alien 3 and Resurrection are 3rd tier compared to the Prequel Series. The original 2 are CLASSICS!
This is David’s movie
The first original predator is a really good time my dad watched it on repeat growing up and then I did when he showed it to me😂
Clearly David's a good guy, cause the good guys always win! 😸👍
I can't explain how pissed I was when David eradicated the Engineer species. The fact that we had them, and was at their home planet, just for David to wipe them out like that. Completely unnecessary.
When i was a kid i thought i had a bunch of bugs in my head as if it were an apartment complex. I dont know why.
The British accent from David and the American accent from Walter. Fassbender is a great actor
Watching this and Prometheus in 4K HD on a big screen TV will make this movie all that much more enjoyable they both the best looking Alien movies as they are more modern.
If an android is sentient, it is a lifeform. Owning one would be akin to slavery
18:15 because the David on their ship has a moral compass programmed into him the David that's obsessed with the aliens is the original without the moral compass program it's like those shows where the Android or robot has the program not to harm humans
When I first saw this, the Xenomorphs looked like they were trained ninjas or something. Agile and quick.
An android in one of the alien movies called Bishop played by Lance Henriksen
Funny how James Franco has no dialog in this actual film & just burns to death in his cryo tube smiling while on fire at the very beginning of the film & hes the Captain of the ship , i know theres a deleted scene with him in it called the last meal that was released before the actual film but still its kinda funny considering his huge star status when this came out lolz i wish he was in the whole movie ,that would have been cool💯
Ugh, ranking the Alien movies is always really hard for me. I do love the first 2 films almost equally. Can't really tell what to choose after that. Alien 3 was okay but unnecessary in my opinion and had some pretty goofy looking green screen effects, Alien 4 didn't feel like it should be connected to the first 3 movies but had some great Alien effects, Prometheus has an amazing score, cinematography and atmosphere but some really stupid crew members, same goes for Covenant, the Alien moments are insanely good but I'm never sure if I should love or hate the path Prometheus and Covenant took storywise. I will say though - the Medbay scene in Covenant with the first Neomorph was probably one of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in the cinema. Watching that on the big screen with that suspenseful soundtrack gave me goosebumps.
Prometheus was set in 2094 and this Movie takes place eleven years later. The Original Alien is set in 2122.
If you haven’t seen it, you should UA-cam the epilogue to see what happened between prometheus and this film.
That's Weird That Ellen Ripley Is Not In It
think the main reason why the first 2 Alien movies really work and why they are held as a big success unlike the sequels is the fact that the first one was a full out horror movie, we didnt know anything about the Alien, it was our first introduction to it, the mystery was on its side so it worked very well especially back in the day when it first came out, it felt new and fresh, then the sequel realized that now we got that out of the way there is no surprise, people know, so we cant just do it again, it wont work, so they decided to go for a sci-fi action movie instead and that was really cool and it was a lot of fun, they also did really well with the characters, they were likable, or dislikable if necessary, they made sense, the plot was simple enough, everything fit, thats where they should have realized they dont really have anything else to do with it and just leave it there...crossover with the Predator I guess makes sense so fair enough, but solo movies there was nothing...then they got greedy and decided to keep going when they had no clue what sort of plot to follow, what ideas to introduce, what premise, they just kept repeating shit over and over and worse and worse, terrible characters, all out stupidity and nonsense just for the sake of it, it all became way too dank and just overall uninteresting, I had serious trouble trying to stay awake watching this one cause its so clueless, they have no idea what they are doing anymore, its time to stop,...I feel what you said there with just having the first trilogy, that it would be good, even though the 3rd one would be quite a downgrade it would still hold up as a solid trilogy, its the same for the Terminator, the first 2 movies are fantastic, legendary pieces of cinema, the 3rd one is fine, far from the greatness of the first two but still its an okay movie and that trilogy would have been great, unfortunately greed rules the world :P the Predator franchise is more solid cause the movies arent that different when it comes to the quality difference, ofc the 1st one is the best, but they are all fairly enjoyable and make sense, there is some sort of progression and evolution, plus the Predator is a lot more interesting than the Alien so they can really keep exploring it further, there are more options, more possibilities, looking forward to your reactions to that franchise :)
This one is still underrated. Also glad you watched the good version of Alien 3, because it's a great movie
Me too I knew it was him to😂 22:55
Am I the only one that hears a little bit of Chills in his voice? Keep up the good work bro. Appreciate you.
I agree with your ranking
it's hard to believe you're already at covenant. it seems like only last week when you reacted to aliens, which i consider to be the best in the series. thank you man for making great videos and great reactions.
21:51 PogU EZ Clap
Great reaction man and I really like the colonizing concept in this movie, it's something I could see happening in the future and how it leads to david having access to the colonists at the end was creepy and unsettling!
These people are so incompetent that if you pick random one close that person in round room without door and windows with two metal balls. Let that person be there 24h and then open it. You find out that person lost one ball and broke another.
The only thing I dislike about the film are the engineers.
In Prometheus they are the pinnacle of humanoid design. In this they're just bald pale humanoids, none are particularly tall or muscular like the previous engineer's.
I had always assumed they were just an additional offshoot humanoid species the engineers made, since 1. They seem to be relatively primitive, 2. They gather like they are celebrating the return of their gods or creators (noting that one of Scott's intentions were that Engineers gave humanity a chance to change by sending one of their own but the humans killed him, it was Jesus, it's a bit pompous for my taste but that's what he was going for).
But then you listen to the commentary for the movie and Scott calls them engineers, he says David killed all the engineers.... Scott, wtf dude, how do you even connect to the og alien if all the engineers are dead and again comparing the size of the engineers in covenant and the space jockey in alien, the ones in covenant were TINY.
I agree... The whole lore of Prometheus was set up to be much bigger, that why Covenant is disappointing to me. I wanted to see Shaw, just something more about the origin of mankind. Not creating a bunch of monsters and killing this so called Engineer homeworld. No way this is the home world since there had to be way more of their ships, and the weapons. These people looked a little like peasants, and the waving can only mean they were expecting something big.
Alien vs Predator is fun.
this is definitely a better alien movie but I prefer Prometheus overall
"This is stupid as fuck" - Covenant in the nutshell...
This was good for me. ❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah, guy not looks good 😅 11:46
James Franco's shorthest appeareance in a movie...
Good call, but like you say, they're all good
1. Alien
2. Aliens
3. Prometheus
4. Covenant
5. Alien 3
6. Alien: Resurrection
Such an amazing movie.
2,4,3,1,6,5. now the first movie is great and it's the OG classic but I'm a huge fan of the alien design and that movie had the least amount of alien screen time.
David is not the first android lol. The alien and blade runner movies are set in the same universe. Maybe David is the perfected result but there were many different androids before him
You should watch Fantastic Four from Marvel
I HIGHLY suggest watching Predator and Predator 2 before moving onto the Alien vs. Predator films. You're gonna to lose a ton of impact from the 1st couple of Predator films if you watch the AvP movies first.
is David the first Android? Good question, because Ridley confirmed the Alien and Blade Runner universe is the same. Just think about it... androids, off world exploration, massive companies.. it tracks. What still blows my mind is a single standup arcade game in the 80's (?) that was MASSIVE in popularity, is the sole reason the Predator and Alien franchises have intermingled. Until that game... We have a 'script' for Alien 3.. Bishop's torso was put into freeze, but had some alien cells that did their thing while in hybernation. Him returning to Earth... then eventually chased down by a Blade Runner would be interesting
You should react to Ocean’s eleven twelve and thirteen. Really good heist movies
You should do a movie tier list video
That movie was fine but the first third is the best. Prometheus to me was vastly superior.
You should watch the director's cut of Aliens. About 20mins of extra scenes. Some are just epic!
Don’t count this in with the Alien universe.
This is Ridley Scott literally directing at 80 years old.
This movie does not need to exist
I liked Alien: Resurrection more than Alien3 - "I'm the monster's mother." but agree - none of them were terrible, all worth the price of a movie ticket - at the very least, the DVD.
He didn’t make them, he recreated them.
I loved resurrection
Ripley all bad ass with alien DNA...? Brilliant!
Remember the days when the female protagonist was badass enough to survive the series? (I had high hopes for Shaw)
Cinemas reopen here (UK) on the 17th. I'm really hoping they show Godzilla vs Kong and many others that where released On Demand. As a solo cinema goer, I refuse to pay £20 to watch a film at home that I don't then own. DVD/BluRay will be cheaper than that.
I think all the Alien films are great, some better than others but all of them worth your time. That said, here's my ranking:
1. Alien
2. Alien 3
3. Prometheus
4. Aliens
5. Alien Covenant
6. Alien Resurrection
Aliens used to be my favorite when I first saw these films, but I saw it so many times that I find A3 and Prometheus to a be a bit more interesting these days, even though Aliens is probably the better movie on a technical level. For Alien and A:R I prefer the original theatrical cuts, while for Aliens and A3 I always watch the special editions.
