@@VolguusZildroharWhy does that for some reason remind me of when Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride opened in Universal Studios Florida, people were waiting hours in line to go on the ride, and one random guy who was hot and exhausted started chanting "IMHOTEP, IMHOTEP, IMHOTEP" and everyone else in line followed suit lol. For HOURS people stood in line chanting Imhotep's name lol. Just like his crowd of entranced followers in the film lol.
Also, the opening shot with the Engineer was on Earth, implying that the death of the Engineer, his DNA mutated by whatever he consumed, was the source for life on Earth; us in particular.
@@markwebster7435 The Engineer did the explaining, that they're going to destroy their creation. Other wise they would have no clue we existed in the vast universe. "But we see the wall paintings of them trying to teach the Children of earth." Engineers were a Xenophile Faith race, and when they seen their creation turn away from maybe there own belief's. = Under a Xenophile Faith system, it would mean time for change or death. Have to remember Directors don't know, or remember their own work after awhile. Some directors even the one's that never wrote the story, like to make claims of things that the writer never added. When this crap happens, we get movies that have things out of place or incorrect lore.
@@markwebster7435 he can state all he wants even to make the claim the Xenomorph is Gay and likes flowers. We have directors today making claims certain character's are this, and that without permission from the writers. "Harry Potter is such a movie a director is making verbal claims about certain kids even though the writing says no." The fact is in the start of the movie, It shows them on earth at the start of their creation on all the "wall paintings". Scott did not write the movie or even do any of the screenplay. He only directed from the written script. Would be like me directing a superman movie then after i'm done i make the claim well superman is really a girl or evil. We also know even from the middle of the movie, they created what's on earth at the start. Scott directed a 1 min part of O Bannon's script of the engineer talking calmly with the humans till they made the claim we're gods. Even at the end of the movie i guess Scott forgot he added it in the movie. = Shaw tells David, They created us and i want to know why they hate us so much. The reason Shaw doesn't have the answer to her why is because she couldn't understand what the engineer was saying in the sleep room, during the engineers asking why do you think you deserve it. This part should have been left out due to the editing cut of what the Engineer said to them in the sleep chamber room. If Scott edited out the wall paintings and the ending part of Shaw's talk to David, Then Scotts words would be more correct. Like i said if the director is not the writer, You tend to not remember what you allowed in or not. I even seen a version of this movie for TV, where they cut out the wall paintings. This version would fit more with Scott's words, but we still have Shaw's knowledge of what the engineer said "about creation" to them at the start.
@@group-music Yeah! like i always say: If your not the main writer and only the director, you will have no clue what the intentions of the story or aspect of the character was years later. Directors today want to be in the now crowd, and will say anything about their movie to fit in with the interviewer. If Scott was the writer, then i would say he has the right to say anything about it. "but he wasn't". As you have seen, many directors come back to their old movies, and make claims on everything to Fit todays now crowd. This happens more often with directors that never scripted, or wrote the story = "they have no clue"
I should point out that xenomorphs already exist at this point, BEFORE the birth of the Deacon xenomorph from the Engineer's chest. The Xenomorph was shown above in the tapestry in the room with the giant head on the Engineer's ship.
I was just about to say that. There are videos on UA-cam that goes into the lore of the Aliens through the films, comics and games that explain the different types of Xenomorphs.
Correct. Xenomorphs are the Designated default outcome form of the black goo when it is activated as a bioweapon. But not used for the other engineer work of planet seeding. It is a multi purpose tool with various presets.
That wall tapestry is unused material from the original script of prometheus, in which engineers worshipped the original opaque translucent white benevolent alien, its blood had capabilities of making the engineers be able to reproduce asexually, yes, the intro scene where the engineer drinks something is the original alien blood (not the black goo), later on the original alien died presumably of old age and engineers ran out of the original blood, so they create the black good, a synthethic version, of course it didnt work thr same as the original as it just mutates stuff into sadistic aliens, my head cannon is that original prometheus script is so much better. Engineers didnt know where the original alien came from too, it is alien even for them
@@fbtdcfbygb1385not quite. The blood of the demon is golden. If you see the shot where the egineer drinks the liquid, it is golden. The black goo is a weapon, through and through. Though it's supposed to be dropped from air and become a mist like thing as we see in the second movie. The engineers were disgusted at mankind for being so hateful and brutal.
The lead actress is an amazing talent from Sweden, Noomi Rapace. She was in the original Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the other two films that make up The Millennium Trilogy, as the female lead. I highly recommend reacting to the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - an amazing film. If you enjoy it, the other films are The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest.
To order a drink “Up” (straight up) is to have it served cold, shaken or stirred with ice, but strained into the glass with no ice in the glass. Martinis are an example of a drink that’s served straight up. “Dirty” means you want olives, and if “Extra Dirty,” olive juice, in your Martini. “Bruised” is when a beverage is shaken too long and the spirits becomes cloudy and dilute. “Neat” is when spirits are poured straight from a bottle into a glass without ice or mixer. A warm brandy or Cognac is served neat. “Rocks” obviously means the drink is poured over ice in the glass. A vodka rocks, or Scotch on the rocks, are examples. A “twist” means you want a twist of lemon on/in your drink. “Big” and “doubled” mean you want a drink that is double what a typical serving is. A standard serving of alcohol can be 1.5-2 ounces per beverage. Ordering a shot/etc with “a couple of fingers” means you’re ordering a drink with two ounces of alcohol, or “three fingers,” three ounces of alcohol. “Give me a tequila, couple of fingers, neat.” Means I want two ounces of tequila in a glass with no junk in it. OMG, tequila, ta-kill-ya! My favorite is,,, was rye whiskey, big, neat. I loved rye’s bite. Similar to the bite corn whiskey has. I loved straight corn moonshine. I miss it, had to give it up though.
The ship where the eggs where found in Alien and Aliens was Moon LV-426, while Prometheus takes place in Moon LV-223. They are in the same sector but they are not the same place, because the ships in LV-223 had the black goo.
@@tophers3756 Not the same system. The distance to LV 223 was given on screen as about 34 light years. LV 426 as per Alien, is about 39 light years away, around Zeta Reticuli. LV 223 could be around Gliese 81, and both of those stars feature on a map from a 1950s UFO abduction story, which is also the same map used in this movie.
Leviticus 22 : 3 "Say to them: ‘For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the Lord, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the Lord."
Now THIS REACTION IS ALL I NEEDED! You got the DNA part of the Black Goo immediately which is something not too many out there get at first. This movie, for me, is Hard and Mature Sci Fi as very few contents dare to have out there, and is so refreshing seeing people who not only got it, but liked it. Also, let me put it like this: Alien series themes Alien = Old Dark House Movie Aliens = Military Action Alien3 = Industrial Religious thriller Alien Resurrection = Campy and funny sci fi Prometheus = Hard Sci Fi film Alien Covenant = Mad Scientist film
hard sci fi , lol, it's a terrible movie, a pretentious pile of illogical garbage that should be renamed 'retards go to space'. I've never seen a movie with so many scenes that make the eyes roll. the sharknado series have better scripts.
So theres a version of this movie called the Chaos Edition, which adds in a lot of cut scenes and adds dialog and extra scenes that were scripted, but not used. Goes into more detail about the egineers. When the ripped man drinks the liquid, he speaks to an elder before this. He says something ljke, "this is the blood of our god. We have lost the ability to procreate, but this blood allows us to create in our image. You are chosen." When david speaks to the engineer, he says something along the lines of "this man(wayland) want you to grant him immortality" The egineer asks why he should do this. David replies with what wyland tells him, "i have created life (david) and reshaped worlds. Gods dont desrrve to die". The girl asks why they wanted to kill humans. In the script the egineer says something like, "humanity lost its way and we came down and took a child of earth and took him back to our world. Wr taught him the value of life, beauty and how to best live. Love in your hearts. We sent him back to your world to teach you, and you killed him for it." Weyland then orders one of his men to hit her and the engineer is digusted by this. He admires david for a moment then kills him and the other humans he can. Theres a much deeper aspect of this movie that was cut. Its a shame
They definitely should’ve kept that in would’ve been more impactful than the engineer just automatically killing them and never answering the question.
This movie is severely underrated. The biggest gripe about this film when it came out was how stupid the characters were. Now, after the clusterfuck that was 2020 and beyond, we are all now aware that people are just stupid in general and so Prometheus ain’t that bad.
Yeah, for me its like, they're scientists there to do science things but no scientific or critical thought was to be had before even going to the planet or into the structure lol. That said, I am one of the ones that like this movie.
It’s the biggest waste of a movie of all time overshadowed by a senile director. How it got given the green light after shooting is a complete disgrace.
Yeah, way to much hate. It has so many good scenes. Especially visually, but also the world building is nice. Alien has never looked that good and was that flawless regarding camera work and pacing. Yeah, they all signed up for a mission they didn't know what to do. But this is a minor flaw which could be easily explained. The stupid scientists in the spaceship are different. They are just stupid. But it's a really cool death scene. Everything else... I don't know where is the problem.
Regardless of the partly good effects and the one or other acting performance, the plot is an absolute disaster, the actions of the characters completely nonsensical, completely brainless! What kind of scientist takes off his helmet in an unknown, unexplored environment and then screams with joy? You can't see past that!
This is an excellent sci-fi movie. If you want more about it, there are a bunch of videos out there on things like what the engineer said to David, an extended version of that opening scene, more from the scenes in which the engineer enters the shuttle, etc. They cut a lot.
I know this movie was often criticized but I absolutely loved it. I wish more would have been shown subsequently about the Engineers. It's a promising concept, too bad that in Alien Covenant another direction was prioritised. I also think that visually this movie is gorgeous.
So fun facts: The Scottish lady (Kate Dickie) in the ship is none other than Lysa Arryn from Game of Thrones. And Ravel (Emun Elliott) the dark haired guy on the ship played a bard in Game of Thrones, Joffrey had his tongue removed in the Throne Room. Millburn (Rafe Spall) has been in all of Blood and Cornetto Trilogy : Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End.
It can't be the same ship because the ship that the Nostromo crew found, still had the navigator in his chair. This one got eaten. The chair would be empty.
The ending creature is a Deacon is a Xenomorph. The substance is shown to have both destructive and life-giving properties in the prologue of the movie (where the engineer sacrifices himself), and based on comments from Ridley Scott, the substance is believed to be a catalyst for evolution. When exposed to it, a living subject's DNA appears to rapidly change. In the case of the worms, they are transformed into snake-like creatures, the engineer who ingests it is deconstructed and his DNA in turn creates new life. In Holloway's case, we do not see the outcome as he is killed by Vickers. It is possible that he is "evolving" -- or that he is breaking down similar to the engineers.
Also in covenant in deleted scenes David explained the substance i.e black goo to be unbelievably chaotic and it's algorithm based on evolutionary computing making itself essentially a form of radical AI.
This is the best prometheus reaction I think I’ve ever watched, u guys reminded me of my own hypothesizing during my first watch so much! Good job understanding this one so well, not easy!
I have a movie recommendation for you to react to: THE THING (1982), a great classic of body horror films, with striking, tense and brutal moments, you'll enjoy it
Hell yea. Enjoying this little journey very much. I heard that there is different endings and cuts, and a lot more material to it, which is just awesome. These new movies are good. And your channel is ma fav atm
It's been too long since I've rewatched this and the cast is absolutely stacked! I always appreciated the broad ideas explored in it and I just love the way Ridley Scott directs. The way he makes the most of advances in practical and special effects to make such a beautifully horrific movie. There's a spectacle to it that borders on camp in an enjoyable way. Full of flawed interesting characters, traumatising deaths and such a distinct aesthetic. David's definitely the MVA of this one lol. The way you guys notice everything and have such witty comments and jokes made this so fun to watch. Can't wait to see what you think of Covenant (I think that's the next one)
I just realized the alien ship from the beginning look like the one from the movie arrival what a interesting connection. It left the same way it did in this movie.
"Vodka up" is a bartending term that means vodka is served chilled and strained into a glass without ice. The drink is usually poured into a stemmed glass, like a martini glass, to prevent the drinker's hand from warming it.
But see, the thing fell, and the rolled to one side... So... Like... How do you explain the actual deaths that happen similarly every single day? Little girl running from a large construction barrier.... You gonna go rally at her gravesite? Old man and his son, couldn't get away from a tree, crushed to death, you gonna go tell their family they should have gone left or right?
The opening sequence was filmed in Iceland; there is a deleted scene which extends the Engineers sacrifice. Other locations used in the production were The Isle Of Skye off the West Coast of Scotland & Wadi Rum in Jordan. Also, it’s worth watch the extended scene from where Weyland, Shaw & David confront the Engineer; it really shouldn’t have been cut….along with the original version of the mutated Fifield. A serviceable translation into English of what David says to the Engineer in the theatrical cut is “This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life." There’s several nice nods to HR Giger’s concept art for the original Alien & also his work on the failed adaption of Dune. The structure they go explore was meant to be in Alien & also, when the sandstorm etches its surface into the skull, that was from a design intended as a Harkonnen structure in Dune. HR Giger actually visited the production & oversaw some of the design work for the temple with the giant head; the mural they view is based on his Alien lifecycle painting. The viral marketing for both Prometheus & Covenant was excellent.
Great reaction guys! Love Prometheus, right up there with the first two films. The scene with Shaw "delivering" her baby, is arguably the second best shocking and original moments as the chest-burster scene.
I just don't get the hate this movie still receives. The score the ambience & the insanely good acting also just the whole atmosphere of the planet are all unique & pretty well executed & far better than aliens too. This is my 2nd fav aliens movie. I can't wait for the 3rd one coming
Good or bad, whatever is thought about this movie... you can't argue with the fact that it gifted us one phenomenal soundtrack. I'm just so glad that y'all are going through all these instalments.
THIS ENTIRE CONCEPT AND DESIGNS ARE THAT OF HR GIGER, who is an absolute mind blowing artist . His artworks are so otherworldly and when brought to life in this movie it just exploded into awesomeness
The opening waterfall with the Engineer is at Dettifoss Waterfall, Iceland; Landmannalaugar, Iceland for the wide riverbed shots; The Old Man of Storr, Scotland where the archaeological discoveries happen in the beginning of the film; The Wadi Rumm Nature Preserve, Jordan is where the scenes of the steep mountain peaks are; and the Isle of Man, Scotland. As well as several locations in Spain, Highland, Surrey and Pinewood studios.
i was curious dr google said The term “up” refers to any drink that is shaken, stirred, or combined with ice and therefore chilled, but it is served without ice. This is different from ordering a whiskey “neat”. Ordering a whiskey “up” tells the bartender that you would like the whiskey chilled, but do not want to have ice in your glass
The problem a lot of fans had with this movie was that they just wanted another ALIENS movie. Basically, they wanted the series to go in he same direction other horror franchises went which is just endless copies of one another. If they had their way, we’d be on ALIENS 12 or some nonsense like that. Ridley wanted to explore the world itself of ALIEN, because like he said, it’s not even really a scary creature anymore. You’ve already explored its entire life cycle and what it can do, so why try to add more to it when you’d just be adding dead weight? You’d just be diluting what already is considered the ultimate horror creature. He is correct, the world itself is so much more interesting and available to explore. The one complaint I have honestly is just that Ridley took H.R. Geiger’s designs of the ship and ‘jockey’ from the first film, ALIEN, and tried to make them more literal. In the firs film, the creature in the chair is clearly some being that was born and fused into the ‘chair’ and was intended to be a bio organic organism, not a human looking being in a suit. The ship itself is perhaps more egregious, since it’s clearly not anything like a ship. It was intended to be something disturbing and really nothing else. It’s just a giant metaphor. The sequel, ALIEN: Covenant is sadly two movies in one and should have been two films. You’ll see what I mean when you watch it. Don’t get me wrong, I like Prometheus and Covenant, but the reception of Prometheus didn’t sit well with studio execs, so they forced Ridley to add more elements from ALIEN into Covenant. Unfortunately, that leads to quite a bit of confusion later on and it strains the narrative Ridley was trying to spin without the Xenomorph really being a part of his films. I won’t comment on what the 3 films should have all been, because it would be spoiling Covenant, but I will then. I’d recommend looking into the original film script where you actually get to see the Engineer speaking to David and explaining why they were returning to wipe all life from Earth. It’s a really good scene and only part of it was shot and not included in the theatrical release. Basically, the Engineers kept coming to Earth after humans evolved from the primordial soup they created using one of their own. Each time, they saw humans on the brink of destruction at their own hands and tried stop us from continuing the cycle of violence. The last time they came, they took a boy with them and returned him to Earth after teaching him their ways. But, even then with their teachings instilled in a man that placed a higher value on life and unity as one - we killed him. This is a direct Jesus reference and makes sense as Jesus was said to he able to magically heal the wounded and other sorts of things that would be otherworldly. That was the final straw, which times itself with the time the Engineer went into cryo sleep which was 2000 years before Prometheus. We would call this the period immediately before After Christ and the Engineer slept 2000 years until being awoken by David. As we know, that mission to come and punish man for its crimes never occurred. The most likely reason for wanting to destroy humanity is that they feared one day they’d traverse the stars and bring their war and destruction into space - a sin that the Engineers would be responsible for creating.
Your, absolutely right. Especially the part with the "fans wanted more alien". What is so boring. And some people said, that with Prometheus approach, Alien lost a lot of It's mystery, what I highly disagree with. As long as a world doesn't explore too much without creating more mysteries, it's pretty fine to solve some of the previous mysteries. It's kinda the opposite, it makes a universe rich. Enhances it.
Go watch the illustrated and narrated version of At The Mouth of Madness by Lovecraft. After, probably before, you’re going to see what Scott envisioned for ALIEN. I watched it last night high, really high, and now I’m terrified.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Such a great reaction channel gentleman. This is my 4th favorite movie in the franchise. I'm so glad I became a Subie, you guys are fast in showing these movies. Can't wait to watch Alien Covenant next with you guys.
I watched your Alien Covenant review and the chat about David being in love with Liz Shaw.. and i know she obviously put him back together and repaired him in Covenant but it makes sense David was in love with her now.. and its right here at the end of this film. She says she doesn't want to go back... she's on a journey to find out more about the Engineers and whats going on... and in a way thats kind of what David is searching for.. answers.. he wants to go down the rabbit hole and he sees that with her and i think its a part of what makes him love her? or at least it was till he went full last-man-on-planet-psycho in Covenant and made some absolutely psychopathic egg facehugger alien critters and grew some wheat for teh lulz. Theres a bunch of theories online and some great vids discussing it... i totally agree with your theory at the end.. i think the Engineers are disgusted by the creation of humans.. maybe that had something to do with our creation to begin with and we're just an accident or a path of their engineering evolution that just didn't pan out as expected. I think they planned to return and clean up... maybe eradicate the population at some point and begin again.
droid was secretly saying, "you're not the boss of me" every time they called him boy and ordered him around or acted like he was an unthinking toaster Most people probably be doing shady things on the side just like him after all that. lol He was more human than he thought.
Her asking at the end of the movie why they wanted to kill us is kinda dumb. Isn't that obvious? They are a peaceful people, they saw how humanity got violent. In the deleted scene, the engineer explained that they tried to save us a long time ago, when they sent a especial human that was created on their home planet to help and teach us about kindness. But humanity killed him, so that was the final straw for them.
To this day so far the ONLY two Alien movies I've fully seen all the way through are Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, I feel like they work well together as two standalone movies, and like they also give me enough background that I know SOME stuff about the previous installments. I know who Ripley IS, but I've never seen the movies featuring Sigourney Weaver. I have to say HOW FANTASTIC Michael Fassbender is in the role of David in this film. He is SO CONVINCING that anytime David gets injured or he doesn't wear a helmet, my brain automatically says "Its okay, he's not human." Lol.
I had so much fun watching it in theaters. I was so surprised the scene with the crew finding the worm/snake thing made it into the final edit because it was so stupid--everyone in the theater thought it was the dumbest thing they'd seen. Pretty good aside from that. Also Michael Fassbender's performance as David was Oscar worthy imo
Ridley Scott’s original plan was a “Lawrence of Arabia” remake but that fell thru and “Prometheus” happened! Probably why the LOA references and David watching it scene included! 🤷♂️ 🐪
No it's not. They state the distance when the ship is first on screen. It's only 34 light years away. Alien took place in the Zeta Reticuli system, 39 light years away.
@@karlmoles6530 I don't think so. There's a UFO abduction story from the 1950s and the folks who made the claim drew a map (yes it's the same one used in this for the cave drawings).... and one of the stars is Gliese 81 which is 34 light years away, and the next one over is Zeta Retitculi.
That Running part that was so bad it spawned Memes, The Prometheus School of Running away from things, which would go on to explain in future movies, idiots in those movies running in a straight line instead of just running off to the side.
“Prometheus” & “Alien: Covenent” were great Sci-Fi movies. Though both installments were in the Alien universe, but they were not in the direct storyline of the Alien franchise, thus not making it so well received by the fans, audience and viewers. The focus of these two installments were not on the Xenomorphs or main character like Ellen Ripley, thus pushing the love ❤️ of the fans, audience and viewers further away from the franchise. Instead, the focus was on new race/species of sentient beings called Engineers, and the main central character of focus was a robot/android called David. It’s a new direction for the franchise, which is not a bad idea, an interesting and exciting and explorable concept, but certainly not something easily, comfortably and conveniently welcomed by us the fans, audience and the viewers. In my opinion, David is not a bad robot/android like in the first original “Alien” movie. He’s not a villain at all. He’s just not that humane. That does not make him to be qualified as a legit villain😊
Imagine to sit in theater and have no idea that this movie is an Alien prequel! I thought it is just a Sci Fi movie ... till I saw the end, this was such a great surprise! Greetings from Germany❤
Love this movie, love that you guys are watching all of these movies and discussing it at the end, a lot of people just watch&react and then say bye! :p I really like that this movie goes deeper and explains a lot, but still leaves a lot of questions...
In the Alien Vs Predator film they spoke of the Predator and Aliens being on Earth during the Mayan era. But with this film they are only just creating the Xenomorph.
The dude in the Beanie is too funny, but in a sad way. One, he thinks the Engineers were throwing orbs in the sky, when in fact it was clearly stars that the current humans used to locate the planet. Two, he say’s it the same wrecked ship that we see in the 1st movie, yet the engineer died on the survival pod, not on his own ship. All three of you had a hard time guessing and following clues in this movie. 😂😂😂😂
Though polarising it’s quite a fascinating thing to explore in this Alien universe, wonder if further merchandise and media will explore the elements introduced in the Prequels.
This movie was not a direct prequel. See events in this movie did predate,Alien, and it was supposed to live in the same universe as the Alien franchise, but branch off into its own thing. But most fans were split. They either wanted to see an alien movie or wanted to explore the concept of the engineers. when the reception was not what Ridley Scott had hoped, he decided to switch gears and refocus it and have the next movie Alien Covenant, be a prequel to Alien. There were many unfortunate consequences that resulted from this decision though. I won’t go into detail. You will see in alien covenant. But I will say that those who were interested in having all of their questions about the engineers answered in Alien Covenant were sadly disappointed.
Thanks for putting this out on my birthday (Dec 30th). WOOT WOOT!! When I first saw it, it was by myself and I just wish I had you guys to talk to about this. 😁😆 I had soooo many questions. Thanks for the great afterthoughts. ~Dawne
Great reaction, yes the Engineer was on earth when he decomposed and was the reason for life on earth especially human life. In some of the original concepts and scripts for the film Ridley Scott had planed for one of the Engineers to come to earth to teach humanity where he was eventually betrayed and crucified so when we go forwards in time he his thought to be where humans got the idea of Jesus from, they ended up not going ahead with this idea because the creative team didn’t think that American audiences would like it but I personally think it is a great concept. If you guys like Prometheus and Alien covenant you should definitely watch Raised by wolves, even though it hasn’t been officially confirmed as part of the franchise Ridley Scott has spoken about how he used the show to explore some of the ideas he had for Prometheus and alien covenant in the series.
There is a lot of speculative debate regarding the Engineers and the dead pilot in first movie. Both look similar but have very obvious differences. The size of Engineers is far smaller than the giant alien pilot corpse. The ships bear similar architecture but Engineer version is more mechanical while the first movie was noticeably biomechanical. The Engineers look humanoid but the original alien pilot was said to be weird Elephant like giant beings of ancient race called as Mala'kak mentioned in some comic book depiction. There is also a comic that explain what happened in this planet after the events of Prometheus movie a hundred years later.
IM AFRAID YOURE WRONG about the engineer being the one found in the first alien movie. This movie takes place on a different planet, LV 223. the original movie takes place on LV 426. scott didnt even bother to try to maintain continuity.
Since the engineers keep dying by their goo creations, seems they're not the best at safety lol. They died on this moon and the one shown in Alien/Aliens.
This and alien covenant (especially covenant) were awesome movies Most people who didnt like them were kinda blinded by nostalgia from the first 2 movies
I believe those people missed the expressed difference; the original movies had "Alien" in the title, whereas Prometheus and Covenant do not. "Alien: Awakening" has been the official codename for the third installment for many years, but one would assume it won't be the release name.....if it even happens now (scripts were drafted, but then 20th Century was bought by Disney).
I have to say watching all these movies back this way I have a better appreciation for all the movies that got bad reviews. Especially #3. Sigourney's ability to hold the screen as a clone of herself and change the entire way SH acts is incredible. And I always thought Promethious was so underrated. I love that film.
michael fassbender is one of my favorite actors and he killed it as david, such a different role than he usually does. now that y’all have watched some deadpool and logan, it’d be really cool to see you dive into xmen! he plays young magneto in the prequels- some of the best movies in that series lol
@@RaggedyPack thank uuuuuuuuuuuuu. also did yall know theres a new one coming out in 2024? (i think i read its a stand alone and not completely connected to the franchise, but idk)
THE "SOS" SIGNAL FROM COMPUTER "MOTHER" PICKS UP...COULD BE THE SURVIVAL SHIP'S MESSAGE SENT IN ORIGINAL "ALIEN" THEY PICK UP...OR A "WARNING" FROM SAME SURVIVAL SHIP.😵😵😵👍🏼
Hi and Happy Holidays, Gentlemen! Great reaction, as usual. This was a very special movie...however, it could've and should've been more special. The deleted scenes from Prometheus really add on more epicness. The problem with the sequel to this film (ALIEN: Covenant) is, it basically sidesteps a lot of the set-up and characterization from this movie, and, by Ridley Scott's own admission, alters the culprits of the creation of The Xenomorph. BTW: The film's opening was shot in Iceland (I believe), where the landscape looks very alien in comparison to the rest of Earth. I believe some of Star Wars has been filmed there, as well...or photography of it has been used for The Volume/StageCraft. The planet in this film supposedly really exists, Zeta Reticuli. That star system has been a focus of attention by astrophysicists, astronomers, and Ancient Astronaut Theorists, since The 2000s. P.S. Many viewers (correctly) theorized, based on hints from Ridley and the main writer of the film, that the reason The Engineers were returning to Earth, to destroy it, was because of the death of Jesus (the Juggernaut's flight data revealed that the ship was on its way to Earth just over 2000 years ago, before the outbreak of their creation). He was a special being created by them, and his death was proof that The Engineers' best creation wasn't worthy of The Messiah. Also, the original concept was that humans are created through part of the ALIEN DNA; only the creatures We came from were not volatile; and they had long since gone extinct. It was The Engineers who found the DNA, adding it on to humans. Ironically, human DNA is the perfect cousin to the original bipedal creature...so, when We see the first Xenomorph in ALIEN, it's very representative of what it looked like, before its race perished, and The Engineers decided to create with their remaining DNA. The mural on the ceiling of the chamber with the giant head, shows the creation and growth cycle of their version of the Xenomorph; however, the sculpture that Charlie and David see, represents that actual creature, before it went extinct. Notice how it's positioned to look a lot like Jesus on The Cross?
No that engineer in the seat is not the same one from the original ALien movie. Not the same planet and the Engineer in the original Alien movie was much older than this one.
Always enjoy your reactions!! Grew up with the Alien franchise and this movie is very dear to my heart. I own the soundtrack. The soundtracks for this and the first Alien movie are superb!! "Prometheus and Alien take place on different planets. Prometheus is set on a planetoid with the designation LV-223, while Alien takes place on LV-426 (aka Acheron)12345. According to Ridley Scott, the two planetoids are in the same star system14. The planets have different names and atmospheres5. The planet LV-223 was thought to appear in Alien, but instead, LV-426 was used3." Highly recommend this channel for understanding Prometheus: Kroft talks about Movies. So much was left out of this movie from the original script!! Recommend the deleted scenes as well where the Engineer has an entire dialogue with David. Keep up the GREAT work guys!! Looking forward to the Alien Covenant reaction!!

When this film released there was actually a guy cosplaying as that first engineer going to cons. He was Massive!
That's amazing! 💪
Happy New Year From England Yorkshire 💯👍 you're good lads honesty is what matters
Happy New Year!! 🥳🎉
Actually ridley Scott said he didn’t specify that it was earth.
He stated it in the making of documentary or audio commentary
Engineers didnt know where the original alien came from too, it is alien even for them
False, it’s called the blood of the deacon that black goo and also they worship the creation of it
@@fbtdcfbygb1385not quite.
What Happened To Monday was also good.

Same system actually.
Leviticus 22 : 3
"Say to them: ‘For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the Lord, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the Lord."
@jimbobeire, wow! Thanks for explaining the different moons and vectors. I appreciate it! 😊
Also, let me put it like this:
Alien series themes
Alien = Old Dark House Movie
Aliens = Military Action
Alien3 = Industrial Religious thriller
Alien Resurrection = Campy and funny sci fi
Prometheus = Hard Sci Fi film
Alien Covenant = Mad Scientist film
hard sci fi , lol, it's a terrible movie, a pretentious pile of illogical garbage that should be renamed 'retards go to space'. I've never seen a movie with so many scenes that make the eyes roll. the sharknado series have better scripts.
A lot of folks dislike this movie but I loved it. I have a huge crush on the engineer
You are chosen."
When david speaks to the engineer, he says something along the lines of "this man(wayland) want you to grant him immortality"
The egineer asks why he should do this.
We sent him back to your world to teach you, and you killed him for it."
Weyland then orders one of his men to hit her and the engineer is digusted by this.
He admires david for a moment then kills him and the other humans he can.
Theres a much deeper aspect of this movie that was cut. Its a shame
They definitely should’ve kept that in would’ve been more impactful than the engineer just automatically killing them and never answering the question.
@@shania991 yeah would have been interesting with the 'oh so they brought jesus to their world' spin on it all.
They really should have kept all those cut scenes. 😢
Thanks for the info 👍
This movie is severely underrated.
The biggest gripe about this film when it came out was how stupid the characters were.
Now, after the clusterfuck that was 2020 and beyond, we are all now aware that people are just stupid in general and so Prometheus ain’t that bad.
Yeah, for me its like, they're scientists there to do science things but no scientific or critical thought was to be had before even going to the planet or into the structure lol. That said, I am one of the ones that like this movie.
@@nezudevthey’re not all cientists tho
@@nezudev remember that they had to be told where theyre going ON THE SPACESHIP, not before
It’s the biggest waste of a movie of all time overshadowed by a senile director.
I love this film. But for me, Michael Fassbender made this film the awesome masterpice it is. His acting was stunning
me too
masterpiece is a bit strong. this film wouldn't even make the top 100 in Sight and Sound, the AFI or BFI.
That’s crazy :) I hate David .
David character destroy the saga .
If you think this movie was good you must not be a alien fan, this film was WEIRD,definitely not a alien vibe
Since Squidward became handsome he gave up the clarinet and went into acting. He even got jacked for the role. 😂😂
I know this movie was often criticized but I absolutely loved it. I wish more would have been shown subsequently about the Engineers. It's a promising concept, too bad that in Alien Covenant another direction was prioritised. I also think that visually this movie is gorgeous.
Saw this in IMAX with my brother and during the alien C-section my brother had to stand up, walk to the aisle and sit on the floor. It was INSANE.
Ridley must've also read about the Annunaki theory about human beginnings
Yes, he's definitely been reading Sitchin, and Von Daniken.
"I feel like the android's gonna be a good guy". Yeah, spot on 😂
It can't be the same ship because the ship that the Nostromo crew found, still had the navigator in his chair.
This one got eaten. The chair would be empty.
Weyland aka Weyland Yutani is “The Company” and they’re very evil. They are the main antagonists throughout entire franchise.
I wouldn't even reward them with being called evil. They are soulless.
Fifield also turned into like some super athletic hulk thing after passing out in it
@@ishworshrestha8999is chaotic because is not the original alien blood used to seed planets with deconstructed dna
When alcohol is ordered “Up” it is stirred or shaken with ice, and then strained into a stemmed cocktail glass.
Such a great soundtrack, especially during the opening. This film was beautiful in theater 3D.
This is the best prometheus reaction I think I’ve ever watched, u guys reminded me of my own hypothesizing during my first watch so much! Good job understanding this one so well, not easy!
Thank you!
I have a movie recommendation for you to react to: THE THING (1982), a great classic of body horror films, with striking, tense and brutal moments, you'll enjoy it
Thanks! We've recieved quite a few recommendations to watch that one. We definitely will at some point in the not so distant future!
Another classic body horror is Cronenberg's The Fly (1986).
This is one of my fav movies. Its always nice to see an open reaction.
I just realized the alien ship from the beginning look like the one from the movie arrival what a interesting connection. It left the same way it did in this movie.
Interesting, I never noticed that
"up" or "straight up" is when you shake or stir an alcoholic beverage with ice, strain it, then serve it in a stemmed glass
without any ice.
"Vodka up" is a bartending term that means vodka is served chilled and strained into a glass without ice. The drink is usually poured into a stemmed glass, like a martini glass, to prevent the drinker's hand from warming it.
Quoting CinemaSins, “Prometheus School of Running Away” 😂 Like to run to the side Charlize! To the side! Oh she dead.
Ding
He believes you can give him more life."
There’s several nice nods to HR Giger’s concept art for the original Alien & also his work on the failed adaption of Dune.
The viral marketing for both Prometheus & Covenant was excellent.
just made my night !!! watching now 🍿
Great reaction guys! Love Prometheus, right up there with the first two films. The scene with Shaw "delivering" her baby, is arguably the second best shocking and original moments as the chest-burster scene.
Dreadful messy movie god awful
I just don't get the hate this movie still receives. The score the ambience & the insanely good acting also just the whole atmosphere of the planet are all unique & pretty well executed & far better than aliens too. This is my 2nd fav aliens movie.
I can't wait for the 3rd one coming
I meant to say alien 3 not aliens lol 😂
Good or bad, whatever is thought about this movie... you can't argue with the fact that it gifted us one phenomenal soundtrack. I'm just so glad that y'all are going through all these instalments.
True true! I love the OST, especially Life!
THIS ENTIRE CONCEPT AND DESIGNS ARE THAT OF HR GIGER, who is an absolute mind blowing artist . His artworks are so otherworldly and when brought to life in this movie it just exploded into awesomeness
When referring to cocktails “up” just means a stemmed glass. Usually a coupe glass but it could be a flute or martini glass. But with a stem.
This, to me, has to be one of the best sci-fi films during that decade. Most prequels are terrible. This film was a masterpiece.
My god
Prometheus ? A masterpiece ?
I cry
For me this is the worst movie I have see in my life .
Good sci-fi ?
Interstellar
On it's own - Average at best
As a prequel - Horrible
These guys are the flock of nerds I need to be around. Love you guys and I’m new to the channel. Great vid
@23:39 - I didn't see it until now but the top of that structure looks very much like the skull of the Alien-Human hybrid from Alien 4!
Isle of Skye in Scotland was used as a location, not the the Isle Of Man (which sits in the Irish Sea).
@davidanderson1639 Yes I realized this after I typed it, thank you for the correction!!
i was curious dr google said The term “up” refers to any drink that is shaken, stirred, or combined with ice and therefore chilled, but it is served without ice.

That surgeon scene is a horror masterpiece.
Damn if that little guy in the middle isn't a chad.
When they were going back to the ship when the storm was coming, on the mountains side was a SKULL you have to look hard to catch it.
It's visible at other times too. It's an elongated skull like an Xeno, with a face like a human skull.
They filmed the beginning of the movie in Iceland where the engineers reconstituted their DNA in that waterfall!
Enjoyed the discussion which is what “I choose to believe” the film intended.
Thanks for helping me ,,to see this movie for the first time" once again. Well done guys.

That planet is Calampos and one of it's moons is LV-426, where the Nostromo landed
No it's not. They state the distance when the ship is first on screen. It's only 34 light years away. Alien took place in the Zeta Reticuli system, 39 light years away.
@@jimbobeire Well you know that could be a continuity error, just saying
@@karlmoles6530 I don't think so. There's a UFO abduction story from the 1950s and the folks who made the claim drew a map (yes it's the same one used in this for the cave drawings).... and one of the stars is Gliese 81 which is 34 light years away, and the next one over is Zeta Retitculi.
@@jimbobeire Sure looks an awful lot like Calampos
My prediction is predators killed the engineers that were running they’re all in the same universe
That Running part that was so bad it spawned Memes, The Prometheus School of Running away from things, which would go on to explain in future movies, idiots in those movies running in a straight line instead of just running off to the side.
Best 20th Century logo music is the intro to ALIEN 3...that last spookey off-key final note!
There's a similar "connecting theme" scene in AvP regarding pyramids.
Imagine to sit in theater and have no idea that this movie is an Alien prequel! I thought it is just a Sci Fi movie ... till I saw the end, this was such a great surprise! Greetings from Germany❤
What date are you guys going to watch alien Covenant?
I have ta be there
It's planned to be on the channel on the 20th
Watching this movie is like realizing that Scott didn’t care about what he did in the first movie and just decided to change everything.
The filming locations in this film were amazing choices Jordan, Spain, Iceland and England
Commenting before and excited to see what you thing VS what I thought. BEAUTIFUL movie!
The opening shots were filmed in Iceland.
Love this movie, love that you guys are watching all of these movies and discussing it at the end, a lot of people just watch&react and then say bye! :p
I really like that this movie goes deeper and explains a lot, but still leaves a lot of questions...
Saw this movie in 3D when it was released in theaters and it was excellent.
Looking forward to the new alien movie coming out in 2024 looks good
Though polarising it’s quite a fascinating thing to explore in this Alien universe, wonder if further merchandise and media will explore the elements introduced in the Prequels.
This movie was not a direct prequel. See
events in this movie did predate,Alien, and it was supposed to live in the same universe as the Alien franchise, but branch off into its own thing.
~Dawne
Happy Birthday! 🥳 🎂
@@RaggedyPack Thanks guys!!
I'm so glad there are subtitles. Those guys can't seem to be able to be quiet more than 2 seconds
This and alien covenant (especially covenant) were awesome movies
Most people who didnt like them were kinda blinded by nostalgia from the first 2 movies
Great reaction guys 👍
The movie alien covenant is the sequel to this one. I'm guessing you may already know but I thought I'd put that out there in case.
I have to say watching all these movies back this way I have a better appreciation for all the movies that got bad reviews. Especially #3. Sigourney's ability to hold the screen as a clone of herself and change the entire way SH acts is incredible.
And I always thought Promethious was so underrated. I love that film.
Mannn I was just checking a couple a weeks ago for a Prometheus reaction 😎💯 Universe be coming full circle 😅
🌌💫
michael fassbender is one of my favorite actors and he killed it as david, such a different role than he usually does. now that y’all have watched some deadpool and logan, it’d be really cool to see you dive into xmen! he plays young magneto in the prequels- some of the best movies in that series lol
are yall doing covenant? / have yall done covenant and it got taken down? asking for a friend
We're doing Covenant. It should be on the channel next Saturday
@@RaggedyPack thank uuuuuuuuuuuuu. also did yall know theres a new one coming out in 2024? (i think i read its a stand alone and not completely connected to the franchise, but idk)
Yeah, Romulus! We're excited for it!
tell the bois i said hi
Happy Holdidays to you too! We'll have to check out the deleted scenes!
