Won Best Visual Effects at the Oscars for a reason. Still holds up 40+ years later
Fun Fact: Ridley Scott used the kids of crew members for the scene where they find the space jockey in order to make the set seem a lot bigger. They were the ones in the space suits exploring some of the alien ship.
@@SLJShortt Lol! I never knew this. Only the thing about the "birth" scene, where they just gave a few instructions to get genuine reactions.
Did it win best sound as well? Those noises that Ashe made when malfunctioning alone deserves recognition at least. That was crazy.
Amazing!
@@SLJShorttHe actually used his own kids for that scene. I learned that from the making of docs on my Alien box set.
These classic horror films are so good because they don't rely on jump-scares. The tension is what makes it so scary.
For sure, they don’t make them like they used to, I love old school horror movies, The Thing is another one with a lot of tension.
Exactly - you can't build up fear by cheap jump scares - that's not horror, that's an theme park attraction.
@@dacsus - Yeah, jump scares don't make people feel fear, it just startles them. The second the reflex-response is over (which is typically very quickly, when you consciously know there's no threat to your safety) you go back to whatever feeling you were having before. What causes the startled response doesn't even need to be scary. Could as well be a cute little kitten. It'll still make people jump if it comes right at you in a split-second with a loud, sudden noise attached. I can't take movies seriously that are based on that.
@@VelkanAngels They are often written really badly, its almost always only a chain of jumpscares with some boring filler story.
They dont call them classics for nothing. Heheheh!
"What the f*ck do you mean don't touch it?!?!?" You, sir, are my spirit animal.
you have no idea what touching it would do. It bleeds acid ffs, it may have a corrosive outer layer as well, especially to be able to burst out of Brett's chest like that so easily
“GET ME OFF THIS SHIP!” Truer words have never been spoken.
This thing's full of acid- Fuck around and find out...
@@k1productions87It's most likely only the facehugger creature that has acid for blood to prevent removal before ingestation. Acid for blood on all creatures was later added for "Aliens" to make it more difficult to kill them.
@@ThatBonsaipanda Actually, they mention the suspected acid blood in this film too when Brett is explaining the prod weapon - "shouldn't damage the little bastard, unless its skin is thinner than ours"
Parker really was an MVP, really one of, if not the only, other person who agreed with Ripley's sort of ideas that the whole situation with Kane wasn't smart or safe. Always thought it was a shame that he died because Lambert simply wasn't built for a situation like this, and while I wouldn't have blamed him for making hard decision and sacrificing her, I heavily respect his character for choosing to fight the xenomorph with his hands to try and give Lambert a chance. Really telling that he even lasted for the few moments he did, could have been a great additional survivor of the Nostromo Incident. RIP Yaphet Kotto.
I would've blasted both of them with flame thrower. And this is why I am not bragging:
I had a nightmare that Xenomorphs invaded my hometown, I was moving through the sewers that looked a lot like the one's in Aliens with watery tunnel and metal bar floor above it. I was traveling with a chick and her little brother(something like 6-8 years old) and the kid was constantly talking this and that.
Then suddenly on a crossroad we heard the Xenomorphs screeching in the distance. I was scrared shitless but the kid kept on talking. I was trying to hush him but the dude didn't understand the situation we were in(Xenomorphs are in the sewers with us). I grabbed him and tried to shut his mouth with my hand but he mumbled anyway and started thrashing making even more noise.
It appeared Xenomorphs heard us as their noises grew louder - that was about the most primal fear I've ever experienced! I acted before I could think - I threw the kid down into the water through the hole, his sister freaked out screaming: "what are you doing?" and jumped right after him. Me? I just leaned into the corner as hard I could, closed my eyes and prayed they wouldn't notice me...
That was when I woke up heart beating like a V8, skin all sweaty and shit. Had to cool off my face with water and looked into the mirror horrified at my actions.
So back to Parker situation? I know I'm a fucking coward now. I'd probably blasted both of them or legged it praying the Xenomorph takes its time molesting her.
A lesser man would have cooked Lambert to save himself from the Alien. He probably could have killed it, fire does work after all, but she wouldn't move
He died 5 days ago too. Rip Yaphet
Parker was the best character besides Ripley.
@@sarahxo2317 absolutely.
14:31 ..BRO GET ME OFF THIS FUCKING SHIP!!! that is a mood
Fun fact: The first time alien burst out Kane’s chest was real blood as in cow’s blood. Plus the scare of the actors and actresses faces were real cos they were never told that the alien will burst out like that. Thus their reactions were very real.
The actress, who played Lambert, well she caught a bunch of it on her face and she was NOT happy with Scott
weldonwin she slipped and fell in the blood, right?
@@samanthanickson6478 yeah. You can see it in the video when they filmed it
@@weldonwin And fell backwards over the bench injuring herself. Yea, she was really pissed. She got the worst of it (and unfortunately, the best reaction).
Verionca got the most blood on her 😂😂😂
Alien and the first sequel Aliens are two of the best sci movies ever and I’m so happy you’re watching them. They both work so well despite being different films with Alien being more of a horror movie and Aliens being more of an action film. Yet at the same both create so much suspense and tension even if it’s for different reasons.
just like the first 2 terminator movies, horror thrillers followed by horror action movies, thankfully done by masters of their craft
The thing i loved so much about this movie is that you don't really know who is the main character, until people die... And see Riplay as a badass protagonist like Sarah Connor.
Man the tension of this movie damn near gives you a panic attack.
this is the most scared I've ever seen this mans.
For sure
Congratulations. You just watched a masterpiece, often copied never bested.
Hell, it built almost an entire sub-genre of sci-fi creature feature and... weirdly an entire sub-genre of Italian Exploitation Movies
This film is essentially a haunted house movie...in space. It's a thing of beauty & legend.
They utilize silence as effectively as sound in this movie. Masterpiece.
Lambert's cutoff scream to dead silence always gives me chills.
There is also the implication that the Alien raped her to death, or at least took its time with killing her
@@weldonwin I never saw it that way.
@@blytheguy7510 Rape and sexual violence are among the themes in this movie. I mean, when you think about it, the Alien is birthed after the facehugger rapes Cain and the last shot we see of Lambert alive, has the alien's tail slowly rising up between her legs. Now, I really doubt the alien gets any kind of sexual satisfaction from this act, the creature is indeed utterly alien and really has nothing about to indicate sexual drives are even a thing for it, but it is notable how it chose to kill Lambert and how it evidently took its time with doing so.
These practical effects are the best for horror movies, because unlike CGI , your brain know that this sh*t is there , even if it's a puppet or whatever but it is real , make the horror more disturbing, and I love it
I think there's also the fact that since it was so much harder to make effects back then they didn't over do it and to make up for having less effects to go around they put more work into them and made sure they hit above their weight. This way an effect pops more since you aren't bombarded with them.
I'm surprised you're watching this movie! It won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects! HR Giger was a genius for creating the title Character. May he RIP, 1944-2014.

@@rickardroach9075 this means that five are still alive!
@@fabiorezzonico4426 Well, using that “cats have 9 lives” logic, they’re all alive! But in actuality, four different cats played Jones. 😉
Fun Fact: At the premiere of this film, one of the ushers fainted when Parker knocked Ash's head off.
One scene that really sent chills down my spine is that white droplet of fluid down Ash's face. Super creepy!
This is where the fun begins
And we realize Ripley wasn't just a bad ash, she was right. Good, logical procedures are there for a reason, folks. This is why following them is important. Ugh. I'm creeped out. haha
I'd be hyped for an Alien Isolation playthrough it's a really fun game!
That was the most scariest game I’ve ever played in my life I literally crouched through the entire game just because I was scared to hear the haunting footsteps or the terrifying shriek as it comes running at me
@@ArmaTomicx I saw a play through on YT where the guy started to set traps for the alien. The alien would jump down from a vent near an explosive canister he’d pushed into the hall (did you know there were explosive containers?!) He’d shoot the canister which would cause it to blow and the alien to run like it was hit with a Molotov or pipe bomb. He’d then chase it back up the vent stunning it in the ass with the cattle prod. Funniest shit ever after being killed by that thing a couple of dozen times.
@@paratus04 who was this
@@jordipan8933 I can’t remember and it’s been long enough I can’t find again sadly.
It’s basically the perfect alien experience, and that atmosphere is amazing.
Yaphette Koto just passed away. RIP to him, but interestingly the actors from the movie have thus far died in real life in the same order as their characters in the film. Spooky.
Really? Wow
Tom Skerritt is still alive though.
@@captainbryce1 The director's cut version shows that Dallas wasn't dead. He and Brett were slowly being transformed into eggs. He asked to be killed and Ripley torched him. So it is weird because Tom Skerrit is 87 so he will likely pass away before Sigourney Weaver therefore dying in the same order as the characters in the movie.
@@captainbryce1 so is Veronica Cartwright. So does that mean she's next?
Good plot for a horror movie :)
I've seen 20 reactors react to this and you are the FIRST reactor to finally say this: "WTF do you mean, 'Don't touch it'" THANK YOU!!! Finally someone verbalized what I think every time I see this.
By the way...THANK YOU!!!
Some of them were upset because they refused to believe Ash might be a bad guy, they were so enamored of him in "Lord of the Rings." Oh look! There's Bilbo! Thank you, but this isn't Bilbo, it's Ash.
I love that the only actor that knew about the chestburster scene was John, those reactions when it bursts out of him from the rest of the cast are genuine shock, it worked so well.
I've made that same comment on other's reaction videos, only to have people who (obviously...) know more than I do tell me that was all wrong (and get into arguments about it!) because they looked it up on the imdb database, or something? By people who were not even born yet to have seen it at the theater. In 1979 I was 15 years old, and it was common knowledge then about how that scene was shot. As far as I'm concerned, they did film it that way!
@@kingscorpion7346 There is a docu about the creation of the alien franchise (Memory - The Origins of Alien) and they spend a whole segment explaining who knew how much. They all knew something would happen, they knew there was a puppet involved, and they obviously had to prepare John Hurt for the trick shots they did at the moment of chest bursting. But nobody had seen the puppet, and nobody knew how exactly it would go. Veronica Cartwright even stood in the wrong place got full of blood and fell, that wasn't acting and it's still in the movie.
So it's a half thruth: Everybody knew something would happen, but nobody exactly knew what. So the reactions you see there are genuine.
@@peterampee-kleisius yes, I know all that. I have had people try to tell me all that was fiction.
@@kingscorpion7346 Like a lot of "movie myths" that grow with time and re-telling, it's sort of true, and sort of not. Like Peter says - they knew SOMETHING was gonna happen. Just not precisely what.
I mean - consider - it's 1979 (Well - likely 1978 when filming) and effects back then HAD to be practical or optical effects like Star Wars used. No CGI. So in order to do the chestburster scene, there's a lot of rigging that has to happen. Compressed air. Actuators. Maybe even a hydraulic piston.
Ever seen in the first Iron Man movie how they did Pepper Potts reaching into Tony Stark's chest to replace the arc reactor in the "making of" segments? Robert Downey Jr's ACTUAL torso is mostly BELOW the bed he's lying on and he's sticking his upper chest and shoulders through a hole near the top with a fake torso below.
Probably something similar was done for John Hurt. Might've been a bit more difficult because he has to bend his upper body WAY back so that the chestburster rig has enough room.
So yeah - No WAY they didn't know in broad strokes what was going to happen. Their reactions were more due to the visceral details like the blood and gore - and then they probably hadn't seen the little alien yet.
@@logandarklighter yeah, I always wished I could have been on the set to see all that! love your icon by the way "Starfighter!" I hope Primate watches The Last Starfighter some day, to see what real dated CGI looks like.

Alien³ is polarizing. I love it. I recommend the extended cut. I believe that is what was shown outside the US and it is definitely a better version.

Alien Isolation is the best horror game I've ever played. It is terrific even after finishing the game and replaying.

@@TheRyujinLP Not even joking I watch a 50 year old 20 year British Navy vet who puts up UA-cam videos who quite that game. I don't think he got half way into it.
I gotta share some fun facts man. The whole interior of the ship was just two or three sets constantly re-dressed and repainted to look like different hallways and rooms at different levels of the ship. The floor was made of milk crates turned upside-down and spray-painted black.
10:00 - Those are Ridley Scott's (the director's) hands inside the egg casing that you see moving.
10:17 - That is a raw chicken breast you see inside the opened egg.
13:07 - They used raw shellfish (clams and scallops) to simulate the inner organs.
14:01 - Scott told all the actors except for Veronica Cartwright (Lambert) what was going to happen in principal with John Hurt (Kane). None of the actors were told, however, that there was gonna be fake blood. When Cartwright got squirted in the face and yelled "[O]h God", she was on the verge of a panic attack. When Scott called "cut", the medic was brought onto the set to calm her down.
24:45 - That visual effect for the explosion was hand-drawn.
25:15 - That small second set of jaws that comes out of the alien's mouth was the product of inspiration that came from Moray eels: they have a second set of jaws in their mouths that grabs onto prey once its been captured and pull it back into the throat so the eel can swallow it.
Fun fact the director Ridley Scott (Who also directed The Martian) never told the actors that an alien would pop out of John Hurt’s chest (The name of the actor who played that character that is the first victim.) when they filmed that gruesome scene the actors weren’t actually acting there they were in genuine shock and fear of what they witnessed.
R.I.P. Yaphet Kotto (Parker in ALIEN). If I were one of the people on the ship, I would've been him...Except for fighting the damn ALIEN.
And now "ALIENS" - which is even better. An amazing rollercoaster ride and the best SciFi-action-movie ever made! The tagline was: "THIS TIME IT'S WAR!", and oh boy, did Cameron deliver!
The ppl who saw this at the cinema in 1979 going in, having no idea what they where going to see, respect. It must have been a hell of an experience.
Yes it sure was....my friend had to leave the hall light on in order to sleep that night lol
My dad took my sister and I to see this in the theater. I was seven years old at the time. It not only scared the crap out of me, it put me off for eating crab legs for *years* 😆
You have no idea. I took a girl to see this on a first and last date. She was so pissed.
Yaphet Kotto, who played Parker, just died last week.
Ash, the robot, is Ian Holm, who was Bilbo in Lord of the Rings.
Kane, who “birthed” the Alien, is Ollivander from the wand shop in Harry Potter. He was also Oxley in Indiana Jones 4.
Brett is also the guy in Avengers who watches Hulk fall out of the sky and tells Banner, “you got a condition.”
The Alien, in all its forms, along with the collector and the crashed ship, were designed and built by Swiss gothic surrealist artist Hans Rudi Giger.
RIP Yaphet Kotto ✊🏾
18:47, he's a robot!? Crazy twist that the audience never saw coming.
Most 80s sci fi has the best practical effects, and most things stan winston worked on
Did you know about the great “prank” that Ridley Scott set up for this movie? He made sure none of the actors knew how messy the birth sequence would be ahead of time, in order to get more genuine reactions out of all of them. Needless to say, it worked.
What’s extra funny is that he did it again years later with Prometheus.
6:10, they accidentally landed on large rock damaging the landing gear.
RIP Yaphet Kotto. Loved that actor.
Practical effects are still king, but nobody wants to spend the money to do it any more because it's really expensive. CGI still looks like a cartoon to me, no matter how good it gets. From the late 70s and through the 80s, there were some really amazing practical effects movies that still stand up. The Dark Crystal and The Labyrinth are both masterpieces of practical effects - put those on your list if you haven't seen them.
CGI is still a problem because the industry is obsessed with photorealism instead of animation, or paraphrasing, the science of movement. The brain is easier to trick with realistic movement than photorealism, the perfect example of this is Starship Troopers. If the industry doesn't change, lamentably, optical effects will still reign king.
@ You make it sound like a choice - like CG could be better simply by the right person changing their attitude. It doesn't work that way.
I saw this when it first came out in '79 (I was 22 - yes I'm old). I love watching young people seeing it for the first time. I was VERY tense when I first saw it too. There was a good amount of hype around it before it was released. Back in those days only a few movies came out at a time. You can find the original trailer on UA-cam. I think it's just as great as it was back then!
The revelation of ash being a cyborg was crazy
Back in 1979 there was NOTHING like this. The film was a genuine shock. 2021 there have been 42 years of films loosely based on the premise.
Aliens Special Edition next followed by a playthrough of Alien Isolation then Alien 3 Assembly Cut and then Alien Resurrection. Hey, the last two might get bad reps but Alien 3 ASSEMBLY CUT is almost a masterpiece compared to the normal cut and Resurrection is stupid fun. Then there's the Prequels but I'd wait for maybe a resolution to those otherwise you're watching a story with no ending.
"Hey, the last two might get bad reps but Alien 3 ASSEMBLY CUT is almost a masterpiece compared to the normal cut..." - That's a pretty low bar. Personally, I don't see much of a difference between the two. they're both shitty movies.
"...and Resurrection is stupid fun." - That I agree with. As long as you don't think that you're going to see a great Alien movie, it's worth it for the cheesy humor.
It's good to hear you'll watch all the movies in this series. Even if some of them are bad I find it disappointing that some people wont even give them a chance based just on what someone says.
Exactly
Right! I love the first two but AvP is one of my favorite movies and it gets so much hate. And I really loved Prey I would have went to the theater to see it. It was that good. Just my personal opinion nothing more nothing less.

It's not just the fact that the later movies are considered sub-par, but also that the first two set SUCH as high bar that any continuation was doomed to live in their shadow. Not only are both great movies in their own right, but Aliens is one of those rare "perfect sequels" in the pantheon with Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, etc. that so many other movies wish they could be a part of.
I think that 2 things in movie making should be revived. 1 Practical effects. 2 Silent movie making. Silent because it forces the actor or actress to make the carachters feelings feel real. Today's actors and actresses they do not make the carachter s feelings and emotions feel real. It is like they only show emotions because the script says that you are example sad, but in the audience perspective it doesn't show or feel real. That is why the Silent movie making should be revived.
During the 70s to the early 90s, practical effects of this time are special because of the heart and ambition it took to pull it off well while in the shadow of the advent of computer graphics. You couldn't just click a mouse and keyboard and draw an explosion on a computer, for example. You had to actually blow something up IRL and film it if you wanted such an effect. So it was a competition to push the available technology past its limits for the most buzz-worthy movies. The 70s to 90s was a renaissance as well as a marathon of film special effects progression.
I first watched this at a theater and when that critter jumps out at the crewman practically everyone in front of me jumped. The horror was subtle because you never see the actual monster until near the end of the film. Is a classic.
The movie poster went through several taglines above the title.
Among the first was:
"A word of warning: A L I E N"
people saw the poster which was one of the alien eggs, but couldnt tell what it was or what the tagline meant, so they made a second poster with a tagline that got them immediately interested.
"In space, no one can hear you scream. A L I E N"
I still get chills when i see the poster. Heheh!
I love the creepy atmosphere in this film!
5 decades later, and it continues to be the gold standard for the genre. Then there is Aliens, and that takes things to an even higher level.
The look of this movie. The art direction, set design, cinematography...so godamn elite.
Glad you enjoyed the movie, this is one of the best and most original of it's time. Ridley Scott established himself as a bigtime Director with this.
Fun fact, most of the cast had never seen the animatronics/effects used for the dinner table scene. So most of their reactions are genuine, lol
You should play *Alien: Isolation* after you finish the series, it takes place after this movie.
Automatic subscription just for spotting the Alien dangling in the chains by Brett. Nobody ever spots it, it took Me years and years to notice it. Alien and Aliens are as good as each other, but for quite different reasons. I personally prefer Aliens just by a tad because of the specticle, larger cast, etc (Trying not to spoil lol) I recommend the extended version too but then it's hard to say why if you've not seen the original cut.
Also, for anyone reading this. If you liked the Thing and haven't seen the 80s 'The Blob'... Go for it.
I love how people still jump for the first time when the alien kills Dallas best jump scare of cinema history
17:15 now THAT’S what I called A PERFECT JUMP SCARE
Now that, is a strong female caracter. Writers in hollywood today dont seem to get it anymore. Today she would be badass at eveything, be better than everyone, know everything, all the men would be stupid or evil, and she would be the bestest ever :-)
I think it's because they didn't go into the script/directing with the mindset of "we're gonna make a movie with a strong female protagonist". Rather they went in with the intention of making the best possible movie of this kind, which was exactly what they did as a result of that priority. Then the great protagonist just so happened to also be female. THAT'S how one makes good movies and characters. Now, they just slap a vagina on some hollow villain of a character (honestly most of the "strong female characters" now seem like villains to me...) and demand everyone buy their terrible movie, otherwise people must only think it's terrible cause the badly-made protagonist is female... Oh well, we still got the old, authentic movies.
The character Ripley was a man in the original script. They changed Ripley to female in the last second. Sigourney Weaver owns this role though. She is one of the original badass women of cinema.
5:20 - By the way, if you ever get a contract with that clause in it, 'Just Say NO!', kids.
RIP John Hurt Ian Holm & Yaphet Kotto
This was Sigourney Weaver's biggest role back then and initially, she wasn't giving it her all. The other actors saw this and because they were all friends with each other, they tried to toughen her up. Veronica Cartwright really slapped her across the face. Yaphet Kotto yelled at her to see if she could overthrow him. They all made sure that this was Sirgourney's big shot to stardom. Flash forward to Aliens, and her performance went above and beyond, that it granted her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
IMDB: "The blue laser lights that were used in the alien ship's egg chamber were borrowed from The Who. The band was testing out the lasers for their stage show in the soundstage next door."
Lesson #1 we learn from "Alien": Never go off mission.
Lesson #2: Always close and lock doors when you're not using them. So many of the problems in this movie occur because people leave doors open.
14:01 Nobody aside from the director and the infected guy knew this scene was going to happen, so that lady actually fainted on set.
Besides the Alien series can you please react to the following classic 70s/80s movies if you haven’t seen them:
- Blade Runner (The Final Cut)
- Chinatown
- Brazil
- The Shining
- Amadeus
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail
- Monty Python’s Life of Brian
- A Clockwork Orange
BTW, that iconic scene where the alien pops out of the chest of John Hurt, the actors and actresses were not told that what was going to happen. The looks on their faces were not rehearsed. They were real!
Widely reported but false, they all knew exactly what was gonna happen. Just not how the on set visual would work exactly
@@dantesilvermine5160 The rumor that the cast, except for Sir John Hurt, did not know what would happen during the chestburster scene is partially true. Everyone had read the script, which explicitly stated that something would be coming out of Kane's chest, but they did not know specific details. For instance, Veronica Cartwright did not expect to be sprayed with blood, so her reaction to it was genuine. Sigourney Weaver related that they suspected that something dramatic was about to happen, because when they got to the set, transparent screens were set up and the crew were wearing raincoats. Tom Skerritt admitted years later that he was the only one besides Hurt to know exactly what was coming. He had been following director Ridley Scott around to learn about the process of filmmaking, and had been present during meetings where the chestburster effect was discussed in detail. He was of course requested to keep the specifics to himself, in order to elicit genuine reactions from the other cast members.
2:19, it's a Sci Fi movie first then a Survival Horror film later on.
Yaphet Koto, who played Parker , died last week. He was 81. Ian Holm , who played Ash & Bilbo Baggins , died last year . He was 88 .
The long, wide ship shots, the extended silence/stillness shots, those were all inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey from 1968, and were kind of the expectation in scifi flicks til at least the early 80's.
These scream levels were indeed the correct way to react to this movie 😜 Only a few more sequels to go now lol. Approved reaction 👍🏼 😂
The scientist is Bilbo Baggins btw
The first time I watched this the cat in the cupboard scared the shit out of me
Fun fact: The trailer shows only the alien egg opening for a few minutes, and that's it, nothing else, so, the audience had NO idea what they had gotten into
Remember: in space, no one can hear you scream. Glad you enjoyed Alien 💀
I think that people love Rippely so much because on top of being bad ass she is also a character in a horror movie who is actually Competent
Alien Isolation nailed the Alien vibe, sure it had some problems, but probably the best game based on movies I think? Maybe besides some Star wars games.
Nah, its arguably in the top 5 horror games of all time.
@@O410N oh yeah, for sure
They really, really, nailed not only the look but the vibe of the first movie.
I actually first saw Alien on HBO when I was only 7 or 8 years old (at my aunt's house). Needless to say, it left me so traumatized for so long, I get a certain satisfaction out of seeing that even grown-ups are terrified of this stunningly scary movie that gave me chronic nightmares as a little boy.
The android didn't eat. I didn't realize for a long time, but if you think of it: That the crew didn't realize is kinda bonkers.
Fun fact
The reactions to the reveal of the chestburster are all genuine. Aside from the actor it came out of and the android none of the actors knew what was going to happen. Its said that they had a variety of reactions after the shooting cut including the woman aside from ripley aparently going home completely silent and refusing to speak aside from what was required
When the alien broke out of Kane's chest... The actors had NO CLUE what was going to happen, in order to get the most FRIGHTENED look they could get... None of the actors knew there was an alien in his chest!
After you finished with Aliens do Predator if you haven't seen that.
Another movie GOAT. Damn, they sure knew how to make movies in the 80's didn't' they?
24:47 I love how the filmmakers utilized the Alien's ability to blend into the environment to fuck with the audience 😂
Rip yaphet kotto (the black guy). He passed away not too long ago. And I'm pretty sure Ian holm (the android) died either early this year or late last. Amazing actors
I heard a story that the director did not tell any of the cast about the dinner scene where the guy died. So they actually thought he was choking for real at first or something.
14:29 - What he means is he doesn't want the thing to acid all over the dining room (there's another reason he stopped him, but you'll see it later).
Here’s my thoughts. Alien is great, Aliens is best, Alien 3 is ok, Alien Resurrection is ok but really fun, Prometheus is great, and Alien: Covenant is pretty good. The 2 Alien vs. Predator movies are also really fun.
As well as playing Bilbo in The Lord of the Rings film series, Ian Holm also played Frodo in the 1981 BBC Radio 4 dramatisation. It was originally broadcast in 26 half-hour episodes. When I was a teenager, I spent six months painstakingly recording each weekly instalment onto cassette with a boombox I'd bought especially for this purpose -- no digital streaming in the early 1980s!
This Movie Brings back a lot of Memories i remember first started watching the Alien Trilogy a long time ago way back when I was in the 12th Grade in High School it's one of the best Classic Sci-Fi Horror Movie of all time
There’s a long-standing debate as to which is better - Alien or Aliens. It’s one of those cases where the sequel just might be better than the original.
