I watch this video about once a week. I don't live by the ocean, Iowa USA. I don't know how to sail. But this boat has become a fantasy of mine. The idea of being out of the hot sun and sailing the ocean…sounds like freedom that I can only imagine. I wish there were more videos of this 64.

Being someone that sailed 30 yrs ago & then moved away from a shore & kind of forgot about sailing (I didn't forget but sailing wasn't practical) I am amazed at the advancements in designs over the last 30 yrs.Not talking about this boat in particular but,in general,sailboats are so much easier to use.Everything from line handling to dinghy storage has been improved. Everything just looks so much easier from boarding from the dock,access to the water & even maintenance is much better thought out
My parents bought a new Amel out of the moulds from the factory and spent over 10 years sailing her around the 'Med, trans Atlantic, the Caribbean, Panama, and the West Coast of the US. When they first hit the Caribbean they met some people one of whom got in touch every 6 months for 4 years until they agreed to sell 'Cleeve' at the same price they paid the factory 6 years before. I spent a considerable time aboard. I've sailed for 35 years and still do.

Absolutely bloody fantastic, very impressed with everything about this boat and would love to have one not that I could ever afford to run it, let alone buy it. There are truly some lucky buggers out there riding around in these fine yachts, colour me
jealous.
Go cruising anywhere worldwide and the Amel's will always be the most admired boats amongst real cruisers. Not Marina flashboats but serious, long distance, reliable, durable and dependable boats. Attention to detail is impeccable and the hidden extras like watertight bulkheads, armoured owners cabin door and upholstery that lasts a lifetime are what makes the difference.

Amel should be endorsing SV Delos channel. by watching their videos, I have become interested in the Amel Yacht co. My wife and I will be buying a 50 to 60 foot sailboat within the next few months, and Amel is on the top of the list, for boats to look at.
That would be like giving a teenager an S class Benz. Why?

Center cockpit - I think that alone sells it. The leisure area adjoining the cockpit could be bigger, like the Jeanneau 64, but I'm not aware of the design considerations.
Can you completely close in the cockpit in cold and rough weather?

Ketch rigged, center cockpit, dingy garage, 64 feet, hard-top bimini, can a boat get any cooler than this? I don't think so. All I have to do now is earn the 3+ million dollars to buy one.
***** I love the safety aspect of the Amel 64 but the interior sucks shit,,, looks small compared to the Oyster 625 which has a really cool interior lots of windows, master state room is large,,, it just looks good.
When you don't have money anything expensive looks nice,,the interior of the Amel 64 layout is not that pleasant. It lacks synergy. The People that are sitting in the dinning area are disconnected from the people sitting in saloons sofa area. The master stateroom is very small compared to other yachts in that length,,, but I do love the safety aspects of the yacht.
Well, you could've bought a ton of QQQ calls at the beginning of the year and bought what you want.. custom.

+Sam Tweed Delos led me to look at Amel and I'm glad they did. I find Amel's quality is equal to any boat maker and their set up is superior. I plan on buying one in 4 to 5 years.
So nice. Shame videos never really show the true size of a boat. In person she would be stunning.

Because the most of the other companies built boats for "real" sailors that want to be in touch with the elements... (they don't want to drive a bus)
A discovery of similar size will give you the open deck to enjoy sailing, but also a navigation area that can be a cockpit with all the controls for a long Atlantic passage...

The rear cabin look pretty nice but in my experiance its looks like its just going to become another thing to fuck up while out at sea and be a nightmare to fix
Amazingly there's actually two rear cabins on this boat, the main as featured in the video, but to starboard there's a smaller piloting berth with two bunks, that flashes briefly in this video at the 4:41 mark. The dinghy loads off center to starboard and you can see the pocket for it in the video, and the dinghy pocket does intrude into the main cabin as well.

My understanding is that the dingy garage is optional. If you have enough money to afford a new Amel 64 then they will be happy to build you one without!

Where I live, a boat that is not able to handle at least 50 knots of wind and 6 meters stiff current waves is totally useless...

I'm buying one only its 53' long and the dinghy hangs on the back but other then that its 20 years old so going to live on it for 10 years and say f it to everything else, and go meet people all over the world & see what happens.
Have a look at Elley Grey a St.Malo pilot cutter replica from 1896 built in grp in 2012 better equipped better build quality at a fraction of this price

Once a Cat maker gives Delos a cat it will hurt them big time.
I believe it's not just all about SV Delos waiting for an offer. In one of their live meet ups in the States they mentioned a preference for an aluminium expedition style yacht, as their cruising & diving grounds could expand. For all we know Amel may have already offered. It's a very intelligent company run by some very dedicated people who are generally years ahead of time, so I don't think they'll miss a trick.
How does a bunch of 20 something's running around naked swilling cheap beer they can't afford have anything to do with the companies core demographics?

Delos is numba one sailing channel. IMO .They have made Amel very popular by sailing through a lot of different weather..From what I last heard they laid the mast in the water 3 times now! It's still floating. Amazing crew and boat!

Because their videos have been watched over 53,000,000 times? I drive a Nissan, but no one outside my friends and family really knows about it or gives a rats ass.
Why should they do that?
I'm sure the company knows what's clear to most of us... that the people who watch two "purveyors" do island hopping in an Amel, are "broke ass" couch Sailors, that will never be able to afford an expensive boat like that.

I just don’t know why someone would put their dinghy in the back of the boat instead of on davits. Just seems like a huge waste of space when you have very limited real estate on a boat. Maybe some people don’t like the look of the boat on davits or something.
