- Enjoy the presentation of the wonderful Amel 50 presented by Boris from Amel at the launch event at Cannes Yachting Festival 2017. This by far has to be the best boat I have seen at the show, I am even tempted to say, ever!
This is the first time I can say I’d pick this mono over an equal cat. Simply amazing. It honestly seems that Amel has thought of everything.
Rarely have I ever walked aboard a boat in my 55 years of sailing and seen a boat that is as close to perfect as this one. These guys did not miss a single thing in designing the perfect 50 footer !

It was not designed with the aim of being sold to those looking for performance, to the debris of safety and comfort, on the contrary, this small boat is already bordering on luxury ...

Yes, this is an Amel trademak for ages as the solid lifelines. I think, the smartest, most elegant and conveniant boats ever made! I'm a huge fan of them!

@cornskid Extended use reviews actually stated the opposite-you sit rather high and have 360 visibility even with high freeboard and high toe rails

"The pillarless windscreen offers a panoramic view and the cockpit is high enough to give vision to windward, even on a starboard tack. The mainsail can be seen through hatches in the doghouse roof, while the view of the jib luff is great on a starboard tack - straight up the slot - but more difficult on port as the forestay sags to leeward. There’s a helmsman’s chair behind the steering position but I found standing more comfortable as, when seated, my arms were at full stretch."

Delos led me to appreciate Amel. I think I like the Amel 50 more than the 60, I do not know why. I love Brian and Brady sharing their technical experience and observation in the design, the effeciency and the innovation and difference from the older versions. I come from an archipelagic country, the Philippines. I appreciate the design Amel is doing. Brian should have upgraded his boat through the help of Amel. Yes, Delos contributed to the real publicity of Amel.
I live in the Philippines (maayong udto) and I've been dreaming about an Amel forever. Like everyone else, I just need to win the lottery.

A beautiful boat. I'd love to find a catamaran with this level of design, build quality and finish.
Not possibe on a catamaran. Catamarans have a nice sitting area. Bedrooms (cabins) are always small, as is engine compartment.
Maybe Amel should just add 2 x Amas to the 50 and you have a super fast and best built tri in the world....

I've been watching many yacht tours lately, both cats and mono hulls. This one is a stand-out. Very impressive design and execution.
Amel, you guys build DREAM BOATS. If money were no object, THIS is the boat that my wife and I would live on and sail the world. It's so well thought out, safe, comfortable, and solid. Too bad it's a million dollars :(

I am not affiliated with Amel, but I will take it as a compliment to my video making skills that you thought I was Amel. I feel the same way as you which is why I wanted to put it out there for others to see, and so I asked Boris from Amel to allow me to film him and he was happy to oblige. It is not just the boats but the people, especially Boris from Amel and Micah from Vicsail, (the Australian dealer) that were so welcoming when it comes to their boats even though they know I can't afford one.

This is a much more sensible boat then the 55. My perfect boat interior would be two cabins and one workroom/ office. Small enough spaces that they are not dangerous underway. A stateroom is for sleeping. Period. It’s not another living space.
I was never a fan of Amel because of the looks. I know they are safe, BUT this boat is just beautiful! The lines are so fantastic and it’s a game changer. This is now the prettiest, and safest boat out there now. Just beautiful.

I know I am late to the party, but this boat is a work of art. Amel is a magnificent majestically designed boat by superior engineers. This is the most amazing mono haul of it’s length that I have seen. Amel is made of extreme quality and very pleasing to the eye. Who ever had any part in designing this boat should be proud.

My wife and I are moving into our retirement years and are looking for a strong comfortable yacht. Delos led me to start looking at Amel. I must say we are blown away at the looks and functionality of this vessel. With that said. Sadly the price tag is far out of our budget.

I notice the the cockpit is actually larger on the Amel 50 than on the 55 by ? 2 feet perhaps ..notice on the port side there is are 2 cushions behind the helm before the corner ..on the 55 there is just one cushion then corner....nice...also the side window extends well behind the helm on the 50...yeah...ive watched this video too many times.
Sensational! Best monohull I've ever seen, plus, such a tastefull interior. Everything is beautiful, well laid-out and constructed. Cheers, Amel! Just a pity that the rear wasn't showed, so we'd know how the dingy fits in.

Amel is the best blue water cruiser made period 50, 55, 64.
I love it. I especially love how you've oriented the nav station so it's part of the main room. That really opens up the space. It's 50', but the main space appears even larger because of how open it is, no mixed levels or separating walls, beautiful.

Also the channel "Sailing Aquarius", they use an Amel 50 Supermaramu 2000, in ketch flavour (it also existed in sloop version, I think), that is very clearly the antecessor of this modern 50, and still a very nice and appealing yatch
SV Delos deserve an Amel 50 for all the publicity they have given the company.
I love Amel sailboats because of Delos and its the only reason I checked this video out. Not gonna watch the whole thing though. Too “hip” for me.

Ohh my Gawwd!! I think I found my retirement home. Bunk beds for the nurse & cook/crew hand. 100 litres of fresh water an hr. Self contained engine/equipment room. Its the best 50 foot floating lady I have yet seen. The people at Amel have outdone themselves with this one. A hearty congratulations!

André get real mate, he’s crossed three oceans and seen more of the planet than most people ever will. He keeps it real, showing the reality of cruiser life with all the work that goes with it. And he’s a long way from finished. 50,000nm plus in ten years is more than most people will cover in a lifetime on board a sailboat.

Wow! Just incredible. Not only beautiful with gorgeous material and design but technically just as impressive. The engine room is out of this world. This is a dream boat that makes you wonder if you really need a catamaran. French flair with long solid proven track record for advanced and reliable technology. The perfect blue-water 50 footer outclassing every other brand. By far.

95% good. I’d remove the bottom window. That’s a hole underneath your bed. There are other ways to check the prop.

A Shore Leaking is always a worry after the hole receives a battering !
Great minds think alike, I asked the same question. I was told that the thickness and glue they use mean it will never leak. All within the philosophy of Amel - belts and suspenders is how Boris puts it.

I'm going to dream about this boat tonight and every night for the rest of my life. Tonight I'm going to sail her across the pacific . Tomorrow I'm going to clean her and get ready for the Atlantic . Everyone is welcome to come along and join me.

Just an amazing sailing yacht. Its a perfect 50 footer. Safe, easy handle, sturdy, engine room, electronics, sail, and everything I like. I would feel very comfortable and safe sailing the world in this yacht. Amel, give me a hand and handover this yacht.

What really makes this boat stand out is the protected helm layout under that attractive hard dodger. There's a place for aft cockpits but a nice protected center cockpit is the ticket for long voyages. Everything about the boat presents a feeling of long distance comfort.
I look forward to your reviews of the boat in action.

I do not understand why other manufacturers who do not plagiarize the outstanding safety and operational features of the Amel. All offshore boats boats should have a hard dodger and Bimini to protect the helm station! It is stupid to put dual helm stations on anything smaller than a 60 -70? footer. It is ridiculous to put the helm station in a weather exposed position. Solid handrails. Yay! On the other hand, style wise, I am not fond of the interior white vinyl/plastic hotel room decor. When I am on a yacht, I want it to look like a yacht with warm wood, rounded corners and abundant hand holds, not something that looks like a downtown motel room. Thankfully in this boat, Amel didn't go with the all too common blond wood, pointy cornered, Scan Design crap that so many European builders are using.
Ridiculously expensive BUT what to expect for the best blue water yacht bar none ....if I had to choose between the Amel 50 and the new Hylas 57 I would have to lie down in a dark room for a week
Lovely.. But why is this not a ketch. :-) and why must the 55 have that dreadful sideways galley instead of a longitudinal passageway galley for proper support under sails.
How can the galley be so low.... I mean it does not even come above your hip!!!! we all can not afford a little chef...... A BIG NO!!
