The re-issue came out just in the period I was negotiating for an unworn 1883 H558. I thought about it for a while but as I like using and wearing my watches I wouldn't wanen spend 1200 € to a 40 year old watch with no price history against a new one that was 280 €. They both look similar but I'm happy I went with the re-issue.... it's a great tool watch to wear....
The original was like the new Arnie back in the days, and it's nice to see they made a good re-issue attempt :) The original now is about the collection side, and can't imagine anyone now using it for hunting aliens LML :-P Only one thing I would change on the re-issue, is that the dial didn't have 'Solar' and 'ProSpex' everything else is great :)) Cheers!
It's the original, better in the way of the being the original which means the price will only go up... I prefer the dial on the original, as the ProSpex and Solar print is something that isn't needed... also like the dive assent info on the original... but for a reissue it's pretty good, and you know there will only be the one original :) How is the condition of the one you picked up? I was so tempted a few months back... but am still keeping an eye out :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman I think it's cool that they re-released it but I hate when they change things. They seem to do that on nearly every reissue. They make them bigger and change the small details that make the originals cool. My original Arnie is in amazing condition. No crystal scratches, perfect dial and almost untouched bezel insert. It has the original strap and shroud. I got a great deal on it too!
@@BiffTannenBTTF You got very lucky finding it with the original strap, let alone condition... so when you're done with the DeLoren Time Machine, can I borrow it after, cheers :) I like the new release, but it can't be a replacement to the original, it's more of a homage to it and sits in the shadow if that makes sense. I would like to remove the additional print on the dial with regards to 'SOLAR' and "PROSPECS' and might think about swapping the hex heads with cross head screws... I've already changed the strap to a more vintage style which adds vintage to it. The original will always own the rights to that look, the re-issue is similar but of course has been made more modern, and solar was a good choice. Maybe if you find a good deal on the new version you might like to try it? I did a video of them both together just to add. So pleased for you.. and if you have any photos to share on Instagram then please do post the link here... cheers buddy :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman I think solar is definitely a good choice. I had a solar golden tuna and loved it. I just realized that on the new Arnie they took an element from the "upside down" Arnie, the h601. That one came out after the h558 and it had a 24 hour index instead of dive depth. So that's interesting. Check out some pictures and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'll get around to posting some pics for sure. I'm not wearing it now because I needed to get a new caseback gasket. The one the last owner put in there was super thin and wasn't doing any sealing. Luckily it never got any water inside though. I also have a new strap coming because I definitely don't want to wear the original. The original strap is very nice though. Very flexible and soft.
@@BiffTannenBTTF Good idea to hang onto the original strap... place it into a bag and remove all the air out of it, that should preserve it longer :) I have seen the reverse Arnie's with the LCD at the bottom, but have to be honest I've not looked at the 24hr markings... well I've not held one, but they're getting hard to find too. Silicon the gasket, but am sure you're doing this anyway... looking forward to see some pictures... cheers for sharing :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman For video-sake I switched the strap to the original, but the one you replaced it with suits the watch far better, better size, width and with the overhang either side of the strap where it meets the lugs is spot on!
@@Watch-Crazy Yeah for me it was that V-Shape that gives it more age to the design, and I couldn't believe that the original was flat and rec-tang-u-lar... tempting to get the original, but the re-issue is less of a worry to wear at any moment :)
Thank you guy's for trying to mend my very old SKXA55K1 “Orange Bullet”, unfortunately for me you don't have the part's for this model anymore . On the plus side i did just purchase the Re-release of the SNJ025 and i am very happy with it but for a few minor issues, the big one for me is that you need to unscrew one of the crowns to be able to see the time on the LED, set the alarm ⏰, and the date and time........ and if you forget to re-tighten the crown back down and then go into the water...........your watch is finished . Also, the battery 🔋 meter has never shown more that a solid 9 and i thought it went up to 10 ?. Nevertheless it's a lovely watch and i hope it will last as long or longer than the SKXA55K1 “Orange Bullet”. Best wishes from West Sussex.
Only the crown (on the right side) need to be screwed down before entering the water, the two buttons have that nice screw-lock mechanism to prevent them accidentally pushed. If you screw them outwards the buttons are locked and have also the same look as the crown on the right. Whatever position the two lock buttons have, they are always waterproof !
It's much thicker, and the pushers to me are a little overkill on the scale on size, but still a fine SEIKO... I don't screw the pushers in btw, only the crown, as unscrewing every time to use the pushers would be awkward as I wear it on my right wrist.
