Jody please keep as many vids coming as possible! I'm quarantined for 12 weeks so you are one of the only Humans in my life at the moment! Great vid so far!
I'm wearing my SNJ028 (the black and gold version) now and I love it. The bezel on mine is perfect - solid notching, no play, and perfect alignment - and it solves the strap hardware misalignment because it has all black hardware. Sapphire and AR would be nice though.
I wear the Padi version on a black and red Zulu strap on my 6.5" wrist. I also added one of the black steel shrouds and it looks even better. More heft too. I wear it for when I go out horse riding as my 'action watch'. It fills that space in my collection perfectly.
Got the SNJ25 used since i thought it would be fun. It did not dissapoint. Sure its big and bulky but, as you point out, wears rather well. Tried on a Strapcode Super-j Luis ( jubilee ), straight endlinks. Works well. Feels more balanced and it was easyer to get the right fit on the wrist.
Have one. It’s actually very comfortable. It’s very light. It’s been sitting in a drawer for months and it still has battery level 10. It’s a very low maintenance watch.
HiggeBlogg yeah you hold the top left and it’ll say BATT and a number, 10 is full. It’s always been at 10 since I got it. I think the power save mode helps. It shuts it all down when in no light situations like a drawer
@@danieleraso1 I would have thought more Roy Lichtenstein he was really into this type of Cartoon art, same time frame as Andy Warhol. I am prepared to be corrected...
I just got mine yesterday and am sporting it on my wrist today!! This is the third Arnie I've owned. I still have an original with orange face, sold my black face Arnie years ago. I got the refreshed black face re-issue and I absolutely LOVE it!! Best $300 I've spent on a watch.
Excellent video. I picked up my SNJ028 just an hour ago. It is a lovely watch. with a wrist at 7.5", I was afraid it might be a bit too big but it feels great and rides like a smaller framed watch. My bezel is lining up perfectly and my buckle/band retainer matches the frame.
I have the PADI version. It most certainly IS pleasant to wear and not as large visually or in practice as the measurements would suggest. I wear it double-wristed (Schwartzkopf-style) with a PADI Lowercase digi-arnie and it's a great set. Glad you reviewed these.
Have the special edition and it's a great watch. Jody is right on about the sizing. My 7 1/8 wears it fine. Very practical with dual time, stop watch and a dive rating. Takes to different straps well. Doesn't quite work in business but for everything else it's got character and presence in spades. The lume is not Marine master level but decent. Frankly I wear it a lot more than my mm300.
I just received my SNJ25 as my birthday present (which is in April, but I was hoping to get a good price and I did). For the time I've worn it, I'm very pleased. Not just related to Arnie, but also to James Bond, who I'm a huge fan of. Thanks for the review. Completely agree with you.
I have to points to make: First, that watch size is all about perspective, as many things are. I have a 6" wrist, but my dad gifted me a 51mm Garmin early on in my collecting days. As my only water-resistant watch, and only heart/sleep/health-tracker, it got more wear than it might have if I'd had literally anything else to substitute. It's bulk took some getting used to, but now I don't really have a problem unless I try to fit it under a glove. It's strange to think these Arnies are actually smaller! It's rather freeing, knowing that I can pull off something that's, on paper, way too big for me. I'm actually tempted to look at the Arnie now..... Second, for all the worry about mineral, which usually prioritizes shatter-proofness over scratch-resistance, and hardlex being a type of mineral, it occurred to me recently that I don't know anyone even on the internet, who has managed to scratch a hardlex watch. (Except that guy who purposefully tried to kill his SKX, but those circumstances are unrealistic when it comes to real-life wear.) Even my own watches, I've scratched an acrylic crystal, but not even any of my regular non-hardlex mineral. To be fair, I mostly wear them in the office, since I ended up with the Garmin to swim/hike etc. with. So, in all seriousness, do you know anybody who has scratched hardlex? How'd they do it? I'd love to get more data. Thanks for another wonderful video Jody! You brighten up my week!
Just bought the reissue. I wore the original Arnie during my deployments starting in 89. Retired it 10 years ago. The new one will get lots of wrist time.
Great review Jody.As a confessed seiko fan I love the Arnie, but what a shame about, (yet another), the misaligned bezel. Seiko have no excuses and really need to get a grip, it seems to be all too common on newer watches. Don't mind the non saphire it's just what Seiko do along with the aluminum bezel and It is an 80's reissue after all
Hi Jody from England, I'm 62 and my G, Shock has had its day. I'm on a budget of £100 and need a replacement but I'm not sure at my age I could do with something more age appropriate. Love the channel .
The case size is huge but this is a good example of how important the lug to lug measurement is to wearability. This also seems like a good alternative for situations where you could wear a G-Shock.
Help me! Really stuck between these two I love the original alot for its simplicity + more iconic... Massively love Arnolds classic movies like predator and commando, but pepsi is more flashy + love the different color lume on minute hand! Help me decide! Wish i could get both!🌠
You nailed on on how Seiko is good about considering lug-to-lug dimensions! I can't tell you the number of watches that I've 90% loved (dial, case, color, finishing) only for the L2L to kill it for me. Thanks for the video Jody!

Hey man, Love your channel. Great reviews! One question: When Arnold’s daughter was taken hostage in “Commando”, he had 12 hours to get her back. His set the digital portion of his watch at 12:00, pressed the button and it started timing down! That was (and still is) one of the coolest things that I have ever seen a watch do. Do the new versions have that capability? Thanks again for a great watch channel! 😃
Al Caruso yeah you're talking about the countdown timer function. I don't think they do. When he was cycling through the digital modes it was only day, date, alarm and stopwatch mode. I know a lot of the Casio and timex digital G shock watches have it.
Hey Jody, quick question re the movie Commando - why would Arnie's character name his daughter 'Jenny' when he has so much trouble saying it right? What sort of name is 'Chenny Matrix' anyway?
Ive heard the buttons have to be screwed in (ie exposed so they can be pressed) in order to gain the water resistence, which is counter-intuitive so Im currently looking around for that confirmation
Love the channel, quick question unrelated to this particular review. Where did you get your GMT wall clock and do you like it? Thanks again for all the great content!
my padi Arnie (identical to the pepsi one) has blue lume on the dial and hour hand with a green minute hand and bezel pip, does either these models feature that or do i have an oddball?
Great review Jody!!! .... Rant alert !!! Was thinking of getting this one, BUT, just one bummer, the manual says "After the liquid panel has been used for 7 years, the contrast will decrease and numbers will be hard to read, panel will have to be replaced"... w-w-WHAT?? , SERIOUSLY ? .. Seiko disappoints again, paying 500 Aussie bucks (retail at 800 AUD) and they can't make a tiny digital screen last for 20+ years like a $15 Casio. Major issue because you need the digital display to adjust the analog dial. I'm might not " Get To Da Choppa " with this one.
Has anyone experienced this fade of contrast in any digital, Ana-digi Seiko, or would you reckon it's just the brand covering their backs with a disclaimer?

Cool looking watch. But I have to put a plug in here for the original "Arnie", the gold dial Casio AMW320R that he wore in "Kindergarten Cop" and "Last Action Hero" in the '90s. How about a little vintage Casio?
Interesting to think about all of the technology going on in the quartz world: solar, kinetic... great stuff! That would be a fun adventure watch, but you’re right. How does that watch compete with Suunto, Garmin, Casio, and other smart watches at this point? Seems like the added functionality of GPS in smart watches might be eating away at this market. Though I’m not sure about those smarties as divers. Maybe that’s the differentiator...
Back to these videos again, have always like the nostalgia and ana-digi and decided to go for my first Arnie (Street series SNJ031P on sale). I agree they wear better than you think, and not really much more than a solar Tuna. Good suggestion to try on - and was still ok on 6.5" wrist. Should hit the gym though :P.

Too big for me, but maybe a Solar Tuna is an option. Would like to see you review one of those Jody. I’ve heard they also wear really well given their size. Love that ana-digi feature. Much better executed than the way lots of other watches do it frankly.
It is a cool watch but Casio had watches that did all of that and more with atomic time reception and super shock resistance in 2012. I had one. AWG-500m
Seiko are the king of making big watches look small. Short lug to lug and super amall dials framed by a thick bezel. The diameter gets devided into many fractions. A 39mm all dial to the edge watch looks much bigger! 🙏
Did the crown have a little bit of wiggle when it was unscrewed at all. I just got mine from WatchNation and when unscrewed it has a little bit of wiggle, nothing major but a little bit so wanted to check
I just can’t do Seiko any more for the prices they are asking. I can never justify spending my watch budget on a Seiko with mineral crystal and aluminum bevel insert when there are other watches with better specs for less.
Mineral crystal is stronger; these are dive watches, after all, and function should matter over people's imaginary issues. Sapphire is just a type of mineral, anyway, and, in actuality, isn't a whole lot harder than a good quality mineral like Hardlex. Also, there are different grades of sapphire, and, the cheaper ones like you get on a lot of these Chinese made micro-brands aren't up to the quality one usually thinks of when he thinks "sapphire". Do I like sapphire? Sure, but, it really doesn't matter if I get mineral on my dive watches. If I have a choice, I choose mineral; a shattered crystal can do a lot more damage to a watch than a scratched up one, and, unlike a lot of these 'desk diving' assholes, I actually take my watches into the water.
I watched this review three times before buying my Arnie and now I am watching it a fourth time with my Arnie on my wrist. Thanks Jody!

Hang on when At his covered himself in mud to hide from the predator, wouldn't the Seiko super lumibrite given him away. Hmmmm?
Yeah, you need a G-Shock for a job like that...
No, because the Predator's visual scanners aren't able to receive the wavelength at which lumibrite glows.

"Arnie" watch is like champagne. Bond's watches would only get him a beer.
And women!
I may pick this up. Will be my gym and hiking watch if I don’t wear a g shock.
Great channel, thankyou.what do you think of Aragon? Thanks
Nice review, thanks for clearing up some of the questions I had about it.
Did the crown have a little bit of wiggle when it was unscrewed at all. I just got mine from WatchNation and when unscrewed it has a little bit of wiggle, nothing major but a little bit so wanted to check
How do you get scratches on the caseback of a watch with a rubber strap?
This watch for me, does appear to be as big as its dimensions suggest. It looks relatively small.
Stay healthy everyone.
Nice watch and review, does the solar movement fit in the old original Arnie? Shame it has made in China on the back
"I ain't got time to read...
...an analogue dial."
Duh duh duh dududuh...duh duh duh dududuh.
I was glad to see this review. Nostalgia fan here so it is still on the maybe list.
Wish they also re-released the mini arnie as well.
Jodi! Check this cheap diver, Casio MTD-1053D, something like the Duro but much cheaper. Please take a look at it!
I just can’t do Seiko any more for the prices they are asking. I can never justify spending my watch budget on a Seiko with mineral crystal and aluminum bevel insert when there are other watches with better specs for less.
The BB58 got aluminium insert as well. Dont know if it's really a budget thing.
@@varanid9 thats a lot of hot air to justify Seiko cheaping out on a superior christal.
@@nohcho84 Nothing "superior" about a crystal that shatters easier.
Yeah it needs a sapphire crystal and a metal shroud. The aluminium insert is fine though.
