Fully comprehensive review!! Well done. Picked this up in Europe for 385.00 euro. Love it for it's cinematic link to the greatest action hero in my books!! Seiko has followed this fashion of resizing in all it's reissues and only they know why, beats me. I'm praying they do a Pogue reissue with automatic movement. That watch with the gold face was the first Seiko I set eyes on back in the 70's and it was branded in my memory.
The original watch was sold in the Marine Corps Exchanges in the 80's. Popular among Recon, grunts (me), field types and POGs, who wanted "the field look". The choices at the Exchange had three faces, black (as shown), white and orange. Grunts I knew would buy black for work and orange for off-duty time. I bought two black-faced and lost both of them in training. One with Bravo -1/1 on San Clemente Island where the face was smashed on the rocks and the second in West Africa during water ops (using a nylon wristband and the watch was ripped off my hand). The originals were hard to find in the 90s and 2000's and expensive. I know the retro isn't exactly the same but I really like mine and it's close to the original. Thanks Seiko.
@@evolution8662 because they were just a tool of the trade. Very robust, reliable and we spent a lot of time in the water. They were very popular and sold out at the exchange a lot. We used to place a rubber guard (bought from a local scuba shop) to help protect the face. Didn’t always work.
Had the original arnie in the 80s! And im glad seiko reissued it back again! And now is way better than the original in my opinion! Plus this seiko has always been one of my favorite watches. Solar! And 50m more water dept resistance! What more could you ask for! Love IT!👌😎👍
I just bought it today....on a used site (second hand) .....Because I thought the price for new was expensive...but almost new and with different accessories....straps...and a steel bezel I can't wait to receive it!! I think it was Schwarzy's usual watch and not just a product placement in the movies....because I remember the 90s....I had a poster of him dressed in casual mode.. . cigar in hand and watch on wrist !!!!
Purchased mine 3 days ego. Was a slight learning curve with setting it up ( had only mechanical watches before this one ), but absolutely love it. sits with my Swiss pieces inside the watch box and fits there like a glove.
Been a proud owner of this very same watch for a year as of this month. I adore the watch but have never taken to the band, which, soft though it is, is way too long and hampered by that awful metal keeper. The watch does look good on a black strap, however, including the cheap, plain, and totally adequate Barton silicones. Excellent review.
Just bought mine few days ago for $330 (after taxes). An amazing deal for a great watch. $525 is a bit much for this watch but for $330, I had to jump all over it! Overall, love this watch and it’s functionality!
I got a Solar Padi Tuna recently and I have to say...I love the whole Solar concept now. I like to swap my watches round and I was a quartz snob but since I got a couple of quartz watches (Lunar Pilot and the Padi Tuna) they are the ones I grab most often. I quite fancy the Padi version of the Arnie.
Recaan Harb should fit but keep in mind it’s a larger watch case with a longish strap ....but you can also very easily swap out the strap to a nato for example if you find there is too much excess on the stock band.
I saw a video that was in the UK at a Seiko retailer with some Seiko insiders who said that the watch was actually made in Japan, but says made in china for tax reasons. I hope that's true, because the made in china stamp annoys me.
I was really hoping for a more affordable price point for this one ..if it is indeed made in China, Seiko doesn’t appear to be passing along the cost savings to the consumer.
forrest johnson while the stock strap is a bit on the longer side, might be worth trying on before you buy because of the broad metal keeper which could potentially cause an issue with fit and comfort for a much larger wrist.
It's the longest strap I've ever had on a watch. 8.25" wrist here and there at 4 holes left on the strap when I wear it. It's made for fitting over a wetsuit as well as on the wrist.
Great question...I’m sure it has a lot to do with how often the watch is worn and frequency of charging and maybe some luck but I have heard upwards of about 15 years.
I am a fan of Seiko, it is the most prevalent in my collection, esp Diver's watches, however I am not really very happy with the direction they have taken. I will never buy a 5, as they seem to me to be a fake Divers style of watch, rather than a true Diver's only having 100M of WR and not having a screw down crown, or being ISO certified. Am I a diver - no, but that's not the point for me, it is a sign of being robust and long lasting. As for Made in China, well I can cope with the Mov't Japan meaning that the watch isn't Japanese, but having MIC etched on the case back is a real turn off for me. It shouldn't matter - but it does. Thanks for the honest review.
Wanna know something funny... this isn't the only watch he wore in the Predator. Skip to 1:23:49 The watch he has on there looks to be something with a leather racing strap on it. Mostlikely worn during reshoots... check it out yourself lol
I had the original but don't have it any more. I then find that it's worth a packet..doh.. OFFS made in China? It's a Seiko it's supposed to be made in Japan. If it was made in Japan at 500+ I'd consider it but not made in China for that sort of money.
Bought it, im in love. Exactly what i expect!

Thanks for the feedback. Really considering it.

Can't wait to get one, iv had the original since 1988! Still running!! The toughest watch iv ever owned.
Great choice, this watch rocks! Thanks for tuning in!
How did it look like in 1988??

Omg.... Why did you wear them in the line of duty??

Great vid my man! I grew up watching the Austrian oak. I myself had to get this watch as well.
Right on, thanks so much for tuning in!
My next watch.

What do you think of the Tropical Arnie SNJ039?
Great video man. I love the utilitarian and unique look of this puppy. Classic. I reallllly want one, I might have to sell a watch...
Thanks for watching!
What's the difference between this and P1?
I really want to buy 1 but my wrist size is 6.5 inch 😂🤷
Great watch
Absolutely agree…Thanks for tuning in!
Amazing! What size is everyones wrist?
Recaan Harb My wrist size is around 6 7/8” ...Thanks for watching!
@@nobetagear Nice! It looks good! Mine is relatively flat 6.5", you think this watch would fit me?

Greatly appreciated, cheers!
How is the strap fit for those of us with a larger wrist?
The strap should do just great for a larger wrist. Very comfortable!
My wrist is like 10.5” that is why I ask. Very hard to find Rubber Dive straps that fit

i have heard that the Digital analog only last 7 years.. is this true....Thats what Seiko shared''

When you get into water and forgot to lock crown up
