@@sarahboller5912 Check out his birthplace in Ballyshannon, there's a statue of him in the center of town and a festival in his honor every May. If you are near Dublin, he's in the Irish R and R HOF. Cork, where his family moved also has a Rory Festival, but I'm not sure when.

This man music has the cure for all life's serious ills and injuries, In my younger days with my 9 brothers were very privileged to go and see Rocking Rory and his boy's playing gigs in our home town, Seeing Rory play live was like getting hit with the most powerful hurricane winds that left invisible marks in our heart and memories that will last for evermore, so Thanks a Million Rory and your boys

One of the very best slide players I've ever been lucky enough to see. I've seen Noel Reddings mouth fall open watching this guy play. ( he was stood in front of me at a gig in cork ) Noel Redding played bass with Hendrix..

I had heard of Rory through the years growing up and seen pictures of him and his beat up strat. This was the song that finally introduced me to him. It was like a thunderclap out of a clear blue sky or sticking your finger in a light socket.

Back in -72 73 Rory played in Washington DC when he had days off from touring he would play this little club called My Mothers Place . Many great came through those door like Roy Buchanan & Link Wray. Saw him there in March twice & once in 75 also in DC at the know defunct but famous club The Bayou. What a gracious man he has that love the crowd & the music he loved to play along with his own greats. It was a privilege for myself as a still learning guitarist . Saw some of the greats back in the 70's like the original Allman Brothers & the late great Terry Kath . These along with Rory took me on the path to play as they did with conviction & the passion that music took anyone that was lucky enough to have been around in those awesome days. Like them my teacher drove one of the most important things any player should know , be yourself no matter how much toy want to emulate your heroes. Lessons well learned just as Rory Terry & those in their caliber did . We miss them all Jimi as well.

Just a few that were there Iron Butterfly, Chicago ,BB King, Santana Blues Band , Johnny Winter though he didn't play as he had equipment problems. Dr. John, Jefferson Airplane Janis Joplin, Procol Harum when Trower was still with them , Frank Zappa , Paul Butterfield Blues Band even Buddy Rich was there. Look it up . This was August 12th - 14 in 1969. Like i said two weeks before Woodstock . Jimi was slated to play but he was practicing with the new band for Woodstock & never made it. Then we had Woodstock & two weeks after The Texas International Pop Fest. i'm from MD. Please give my playing a listen ,as it was these guys that were some of my best influences.

I dont know that Ive ever seen anyone pick and slide with so many tasty notes as this. Hes doing more with 3 fingers at 5:30 on that most can do with 4. This version might be better than the studio which is so often the case with Gallagher. Thats what separates him the most from other lead guitarists.
Saw Rory at Queen Mary college in East London. The man was a true legend and many guitarists admired him. He lead from the front and for a 3 piece band their sound was intense. RIP Rory you rock God.

this was Rory's strongest lineup imo. Ted McKenna's a beast on the drums and Gerry's bass playing was never heavier. Rory's guitar had more bite to it too, although I like nearly everything he ever did.

this was Rory's strongest lineup imo. Ted McKenna's a beast on the drums and Gerry's bass playing was never heavier. Rory's guitar had more bite to it too, although I like nearly everything he ever did.
