Ralph was the only character on this show that was true to himself and more than competent at what his job was. He didnt pretend to be a nice guy or false empathy. He understood that loyalty only comes from what he brings to the table.
Tony couldve at least got Paulie about $20K , $12K was very low for a $100K lick. After all , Paulie was always very loyal to Tony and always checked anyone who didn’t respect Tonys orders. Tony slacked especially since he didn’t even like Ralph that much anyway.
Remember this is only a couple of episodes after “Pine Barrens”, where Paulie’s dickheadedness messed up what should have been a simple, quick assignment. I’m sure that was still on Tony’s mind as well. Not that Tony ever knew the extent of Paulie’s culpability, but it was a pretty serious strike against him. Paulie lowkey got away with way more than he should have over the course of the series.
Paulie acts like such an old lady with the way he gossips, breaks anything he's told in confidence and starts shit for no reason. Paulie was never an learner like Ralphie so he had it out for him and would attack any way possible, especially with writing the family gossip pages.
As always with Soprano's, Tony ruling against Paulie, at the sit down, was a culmination of many things. Ralphy is a good earner, so Tony was content to keep him happy where possible. Tony was getting increasingly pissed with Paulie, for a number of reasons. Messing up at the pine barrans job etc. Tony can also be petty if he feels undermined, like when Paulie was bragging about getting his mom in Greengrove, where Tony's mom was. But I think the main reason, was that he told Paulie he would speak with Ralphy about the £50k, meaning he was in Paulie's conner at this point, Paulie, being a hot head, shot down Tonys help and demanded a 'formal' sit down. So Tony, feeling slighted at Paulies response, was thinking, fine, you want a sit down, don't complain when I rule against you then. It was probably fair to give Paulie, much more money, but Tony was always an opportunist. All things considered, an excuse to keep Ralphy happy, punish Paulie for his mistakes and bring him down a peg, all played in to Tony's hands. Even the slip from Furio was a great excuse to cut the meeting straight after the ruling.
True. Then there's always the game of Tony being able to throw that in Ralph's face later on & forever over anything. Wise play despite the screw to his own crew.
2:06 that's so funny how he reacts much more aggressive to Ralphie 'sit the fuck down and shut up' while Paulie was the one attacking and he's only being told 'sit dooooown' in a let's be reasonable voice. The look on Ralphs face while he's eyeballing Tony too haha
So this entire fiasco with New York could've been prevented if Tony ruled to split 50-50. That 38K Tony gave to Ralph cost him hundreds of thousands in HUD. At the same time, Ralphie was his biggest earner and didn't want to upset that gravy train neither. Tony should've whacked Paulie plain and simple for being disloyal to his family.
Tony did that cause ralphie was the biggest earner, notice Tony’s eyebrows went up once ralphie said thanks to him the family was making 3mil a year from construction
Lmao i love every part.. from Ralphie treating Paulie with disdain, asking him like a child "so this 50K, you think you deserve it?" and "it's me... uhhh, Tony.."

Tony couldve at least got Paulie about $20K , $12K was very low for a $100K lick. After all , Paulie was always very loyal to Tony and always checked anyone who didn’t respect Tonys orders. Tony slacked especially since he didn’t even like Ralph that much anyway.
CRISTIAN GALLARDO and little Paulie should have got some doe for having to hang around in 11 degree weather!
Ralph was his best earner.. Vito was his best earner.. Money matters the highest for the ruthless Mafia Boss.
He might have got more if he didn’t bring up Green Grove.
That was a bad call on his part
Paulie acts like such an old lady with the way he gossips, breaks anything he's told in confidence and starts shit for no reason. Paulie was never an learner like Ralphie so he had it out for him and would attack any way possible, especially with writing the family gossip pages.
One of the milliion reasons why Sopranos is amazing. 90% of the time it works as a comedy as well.
Furio perpetually entering a situation then yelling in Italian is the best running joke
Paulie "When Do I Ever Complain" Gaultierri
Paulie was smarter than people may realize and Tony's mother was pulling the strings with Junior's crew.
I need that money for my “long range planning” 😂🤣😅
2:06 that's so funny how he reacts much more aggressive to Ralphie 'sit the fuck down and shut up' while Paulie was the one attacking and he's only being told 'sit dooooown' in a let's be reasonable voice. The look on Ralphs face while he's eyeballing Tony too haha
Tbf it's a little different telling someone they're late when they are, and then calling someone stupid lol
Finally, I can see the "Youll be stupid forever" clip in FULL HD.
Thanks borko
Ironic how Vito was cracking up at that prank call lmao
Cracking up, ugotz.
“criminal sexual activity” really set him off
Best video quality Sopranos clips , thanks borko
"I was at my goomars all night. Roe with the grief, poor kid, can't get any sleep there, its incessant ."
Such a funny line just thrown in hahaha
Paulie's face at 3:13 cracks me up all the time
Heath Ledger’s joker reminds of ralphie
You owe Paulie Walnuts an apology.
A bit like Chuckie, similar personality as well
WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE???
The phone call.
SalDOWN Jesus Christ, why would you possibly bring that up?
The shooting?
That thing with your brother Billy?
Tony could have ruled Paulie was owed 25k or so, 12k was insulting
At least 25 especially since he held off paying him for a while.
Ero Sennin I was going to say WTF u mean, but you’re right....at 2 points a week the juice would drive up the debt
eric williams You know paulie is a greedy fuck he was probably only entitled to about 30k but was shooting for 50k lol
Omg Furio falling had me crying🤣🤣
Lmao i love every part.. from Ralphie treating Paulie with disdain, asking him like a child "so this 50K, you think you deserve it?" and "it's me... uhhh, Tony.."
My God...I miss this show & Breaking Bad so much!!!
2 of the Greatest Shows...Great drama...Even Better comedy & wit!!!
the wire shits on breaking bad.
@@deathrager2404 sheeiiitt, we wuz black mafia n sheeeeiiiiiiit, talking like Shakespeare characters n sheeeeiiiit.
@@deathrager2404 The Wire is mediocre as fuck when compared to Breaking Bad. The Wire was a mess, completely inconsistent in quality. There's nobody more pretentious than a fan of The Wire.
@@nectarinedreams7208 if not the wire, then boardwalk empire.
@@deathrager2404 The balls on you kid
Paulie was the goat. Best character in the show. RIP.
Paulie was an asshole. I loved it when Ralph prank called his mum - that was superb 😂
"They left him waiting outside his house like an asshole." I laughed so hard the entire classroom turned back. The teacher send me out of class for that. 😂😂😂
The scene with Ralphie’s crank call is so bizarre in retrospect because it’s really funny and all three of the fellas are having such a good time and they all died untimely, really brutal deaths.
6:40 “Hello this is detective Mike Hunt”
Brilliant 😂😂
7:31 Love it when Raphie starts to break character and has to put Mrs Gaultieri on hold so the boys can let their laughter out. Good times with friends. Nothing like a good laugh with the lads.
"Nobody is killing anybody." -Tony Soprano
Ends up killing Ralph later on.
Because of a fat joke lmao
@@pogo8050No, he killed Ralph for killing Tracy(the whore he beat to death) and then for burning down the stable Pie-O-My was staying at. Which the second one was never actually confirmed if it was ralphie or not, but didn't matter either way
That’s my fav line from the show. “Tomorrow I’ll be on time, you’ll be stupid forever.”
The way Geno and Vito were laughing always cracks me up lol!!!
That last part alone was comedy gold lol 😂 💀
Paulie is the ultimate survivor of the entire show.
"I dont care if hes got 100kids in the ICU with arrows in their heads."😂
"Why not? Last year you believed that flying saucer was over East Rutherford" is one of his quotes I like the most. Great character.
That scene when he called Paulie’s mother was GOLD.
that prank call though... loloololollolo🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂
8:49 "Nobody's killing anybody". Then proceeds to care of Ralphie himself. These clips really show how great the fucking show was
Starting at 8:30 you can tell by Tony’s facial expressions that he thinks the prank call was hilarious. “Whatever happened there…” he almost loses it.
I have to love Ralph's constant desire to wind up Paulie as he knows he'll bite, the phone prank is one of the funniest parts of the whole series.
Ralph, Silvio and Paulie all checking to see who's phone was ringing. Thats some early 2000's shit. Everybody's ring tone was the same
People don’t realize that Paulie was the most socially astute of all the characters. That’s why he made it to the end. All the hehehe laughing was just a persona for his real wolf like character.
It's fair to say that Raphie is the only guy in the family that facedPauling and always came up on top. Silvio, Chris and Bobby never went all the way with Paulie
I think Ralphie would have wrecked Paulie if they made contact with blows but that would've been a damn good fight. In a fist fight without weapons Paulie may win but Ralphie would still put up a damn good fight. Fighting dirty I'm good with Ralph. Insane and almost beat Tony though he had to fight under hand bc of Tony's size.
@@castortroy7704 it was the raid can that almost tipped it in Ralph's favour.
@@joeyjo-joshabadu9636yeah tony was lucky. Such a shame ralph didn't win
@@castortroy7704Ralph was at a disadvantage too because he was sucker punched
8:35 Whatever happened there!?
"Mr Walters" was my favourite character.. wish they did more with him.
