    Thanks for the video. I'm trying to connect my tv to to the router as well using a splitter but when I do, the tv works but the internet barley does. The old gateway for xfinity had no problem but when I upgraded to this new wireless router gateway from xfinity, it won't connect both. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what I might be doing wrong? I was also told that I can't because this new gateway is 2.5ghz and 5.0ghz combined. Thanks.

I am angry because my PC does not have a Wifi driver. Do I have to use this scratched up sticky thing or can I still use the Gateway XB2? It isn't giving me any trouble so why should I change to something that I don't want to use.

    Xfinity tech here.
    Honestly I would have made this video like 20 seconds long.
    Only thing you should do on a self install is just plug a modem into the cable wall plate, wait 10 minutes, and if the light on a xb6 or xb7 remains orange, then theres no signal and theres nothing you can do and no phone call to comcast will solve any of this, other than trying different wall plates.
    So you just need to save time and order a technician. Its possible you yourself could resolve this but this requires more advanced steps and there are just too many possibilities of what the problem is that its probably not worth it trying on your own. its usually 1 of 5 scenarios: 1) No cable coming into house/apartment at all 2) comcast cable coming to house but disconnected at entry point, usually due to a different provider signal cable connected 3) different outlet is the active one 4) signal cable is not coming to an outlet, but through a coax line somewhere dangling 5) you have a cable panel in your house/usually apartment and thats where the comcast signal cable is disconnected. Best way to find the signal is to just connect your modem and waiting 10 minutes. If light remains orange, that means no signal. If light changes to green or white, it means there's a signal and its 99% a comcast signal
    But the general logic is that Comcast has (or had, if it was cut, for example) a coax line coming into your house or your apartment unit, and only that line will give a signal to your modem. You have to find that line/cable, and get it connected to the modem. This line could be cut, it may not even exist, it may only be connected just to one or two outlets, or it may just come out as a cable and not connected to an outlet, or it could be connected but it could be in bad condition and have too bad of a signal
    Useless info below:
    in general, if a cable has at least some signal, it will still work. In other words, if you take a coax cable and cut everything from it, but leave just a tiny skinny metal piece connected, your modem will still probably work, just very badly. This is another reason why you actually dont want a self install - because a technician could rule out any issues with a poor signal coming in. Because many customers do a self install with a poor signal and dont realize their internet is actually garbage and could be much better if just a few connectors on the cable were to be replaced
    unfortunately I dont have any help about the app because its the only thing I cant help with. App is garbage, as is any app that has similar functionality via limited access wifi. Many people dont understand that there are different browsers, different browser versions, different operating systems and system versions, etc. You couple that with an app that tries to work on a restricted wifi network and you get a bunch of problems.
    But generally speaking, if you manage to get a white light on a xb6-7 or the online light on a xb3, then you dont need a technician visit and you're 4/5 of the way to finishing the self installation and having wifi

    So our house doesn’t have a working cable outlet and one of them is cut, I looked at the manuals and it said I can use the app to get instructions and I’ve heard you don’t need the cable to use the xfi gateway but when I sign in on the app it says sign in successful but I’m not an xfinity user which is stupid because I bought it and made the account. So I tried connecting to the gateway then signing in but there’s no connection so I have to swap between both to get in but the manual says there’s a get started button and I scan the QR code on the side but there’s no get started button it’s just all the management stuff. And scanning the QR code with the camera app doesn’t help either. So is there a way for me to activate my gateway without a cable or do I have to get the cable outlet fixed?

      In this realm, never actually ask people from IT. The problem with people from IT is they deal with software, not hardware and definitely not anything related to cables or modems or routers. But because they know a little, they think they know everything, and its very hard to convince them otherwise
      Like I can search for a youtube video about wifi speed or speed via coax and I can promise you that half the results will have IT professionals appearing to know the topic in and out, but in reality they are so wrong. Like just now I watched a guy make a video saying that coax cables cant carry more than 15mbps of data... when I install gig plans over coax every day
      and here above you got a guy, who is probably an IT pro, tell you to hook up your xfinity modem with an ethernet cable. LOL. That will never work

      @@edollarzdimes823 it could very well be his fault, but in general comcast and every company will just take the fault automatically. There are certain key words you can say on the phone and the guy on the other end will immediately put in the soonest ticket and probably withhold a charge. "Lightning strike" is one of those key words...
      another one is " dangerous/hazard". Companies hate litigation and anything involving a hazard will generally get an emergency ticket out. Once its out, you can politely request the technician to fix whatever the problem is. Tech might not always be happy with this, but a good $40 tip in advance will make him go above and beyond to make sure everything is working great

    Hi, by the way I have some concerns about XB7. It seems that Comcast (Xfinity) is also using the XB7 "Gateway" to serve as a "public" Xfinity WiFi hotspot (that other Xfinity customers can also use). Does this mean that the XB7 (or XB6) would emit more RF or harmful wireless stuff (compare to regular cable modem such as NETGEAR CM1000) that potentially can create health hazards? Any thoughts or comments about this? Thanks!

    • @nicholasbednarz7271

      if you're asking such questions, I can already tell you're the 1% of customers which comcast spends 99% of its resources on
      Internet is actually pretty cheap. But because there is that 1% who call every day and request a weekly tech visit (and techs are very expensive), and because comcast cant discriminate who to charge more or less, they have to charge all clients more because there are clients like you
      I've done tens of thousands of jobs as a technician. I can already tell just by your question that you're the customer who is also going to say " Hey isnt that cable not pinched tightly enough?" or " why is my 2010 laptop so slow whats wrong with the wifi can you fix it"
      you're the customer whose going to ask me to go get my ladder and waste 1 hour and climb your house (even though I am not supposed to and comcast doesnt pay me to do that on a trouble call visit) just because you think your cable is half an inch lower than it should be
      as for your actual question: its a good question and nobody knows the answer. Guy above me doesnt know either. I can ask 100 supervisors at comcast and they will ALL say either "i dont know" or " its perfectly safe". The truth is, nobody knows. And none of the youtube videos on the topic know. People have a hard time admitting they dont know something. All comcast related people will say "it has no effect" because they ASSUME this, not because they know this. Only way to find out is to actually run some tests with some equipment that can reliably detect such health hazards from a public wifi. (my personal opinion is that YES, it does have health hazards, but they're so negligible to the point that even if they were 1000 times stronger, you'd still not notice its effects)

    Does that internet cable work with a direct tv cable?

    • @artyomarty391
      @artyomarty391 2 роки тому

      they use same type of cables, yes. Its just that a direct tv cable and a comcast cable get their signal from different sources. In other words, a cable which sends a direct tv signal, will not do anything to your internet or comcast tv boxes. If your coax cable is plugged into a dish, you comcast boxes aint gonna work. You gotta plug the coax cables into a comcast signal cable. One easy way to tell which cable is a comcast signal cable, is if you plug a comcast modem into a comcast signal, the modem light will turn white in 10 minutes

    my internet speed is supposed to be 1200 mbps but on my ps5 all im getting is 2mbps any help?

    • @artyomarty391
      @artyomarty391 2 роки тому

      yeah:
      1) your ps5 will never get anywhere near 1200 mbps even in ideal circumstances. Even if your plan has 1000000000 quadrillion speed
      2) your ps5 is probably far from your router and/or you're using the 2.4 network
      if you're only getting 2 mbps on your garbage ps5, something is seriously wrong. Here are possible things to check:
      -make sure you're connected to your private wifi network, NOT the public xfinity
      -you could have a very bad signal coming into your modem, but its bad to the point where its really bad but still works. Xfinity can fix and diagnose this
      -you could have a garbage modem/router. If you're using your own instead of a rental, make sure its all connected properly and isnt older than you
      -your own modem/router could be connected to different garbage via ethernet or mesh system. I see this problem much too often. If you have a good router, and you connect that router to a garbage router or garbage switch, your wifi is likely to result in garbage 2 mbps wifi

    You're assuming there is a cable coming out of the wall to connect to. No such animal in my house. Now what?? When you order your service and equipment, does that automatically dispatch an Xfinity tech to run the cable into the house?

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 2 роки тому

      If you have no coaxial cabling in your home, a Comcast tech will need to install that. You may be charged for the tech visit. Usually they offer free "professional" installation if you're brand new to Comcast.

    • @artyomarty391
      @artyomarty391 2 роки тому

      comcast tech here. Oh my thats a funny question... No we dont automatically run cable to your house, but some companies sometimes actually do that so it is a legit question
      You will probably need a comcast tech to come out to find and connect a coax cable. You probably have one, you just cant find it. If you have a house, look outside there should be a coax cable coming into your house, and see where it goes. The coax cable should either come from an aerial drop from a pole, or from underground. You can tell if its a comcast signal cable by just plugging your modem into in and waiting for 10 minutes. If its a comcast signal, the online light will come on

    Just got my WiFi products today. Went from slow AT&T to THIS. No instruction book. Been looking on the net. Did everything possible but nothing. Don’t have $70 to pay a tech. • @artyomarty391
      @artyomarty391 2 роки тому

      if you cant pay for a technician visit, please find a different cable provider. No specialist wants to see angry entitled clients.
      Whats even worse, is the specialist will do your job in like 10 minutes (he could probably do it in 20 seconds but he will extend it to 10 minutes so you feel more like you got what you paid for)
      But whats worse is clients like you will later say crap like "I wont be charged for this right?". Like, what is this charity...You wasted hours on the phone, and then you had an experienced highly skilled specialist come out, just because you insisted to install something yourself but you were too arrogant to realize you dont know anything... Thats like buying a chair at home depot, waiving a technician to help you install it, and then requesting that a tech comes out for free...
      You cant imagine how many techs get screwed on their metrics because the customer calls comcast after the appointment saying stuff like "it wasnt my fault you will waive the install fee right? Tech only worked for 5 minutes to fix it, etc". The logic is, if you need a highly skilled specialist to come out for anything, its your fault. Comcasts' self installs are a privilege, not a right. You cant order something, insist on installing it yourself to waive the installation fee, and then blaming the company you failed to self install it, EVEN IF it was the company's fault (which it almost never is). EVEN IF its the company's fault, logically you still should be the one paying the installation. If I sell a service, lets say air conditioning, and you come up to me and buy my air conditioner but you beg me to waive the installation fee because you want to install it yourself, I can waive it but I will not waive it when you later say you actually DO need a professional installation. Self install is a privilege, not a right
      And your issue just sounds like all you need to do is unplug the signal from AtnT and plug in the comcast signal. This is a very quick and easy job ONLY for a specialist

  • @s8a2b

    How do you separate 2.4 and 5? Some of the equipment that I have need 5 and others must be 2.4. Numerous calls to techs and they keep telling me that it separates the 2 automatically. Not true. Where I need 5 I’m getting 2.4 and where I need 2.4 I’m getting 5. I’m just going to go back to my other modem/ router and bring the X1 back.
