I kinda wish i was there to help, but i feel you would have probably gotten annoyed with me spamming chat like an annoying backseater, so i am kinda glad i wasn't. I am glad you got there in the end.
Steam engines are a bit niche in their operation and not easy to learn, but they are a fun micromanagement game in DV. Just remember, the more coal you have in the firebox, the hotter the fire and the faster you produce steam. you dont always need to have the firebox full if you arent using a lot of steam. The occasional hissing sound you hear is the steam blowoff keeping the pressure in the boiler under 15 bar, essentially wasting steam if you were to micromanage.
Another note that i thought was cool, at around 40:28 you can hear the change in sound of your brakes from their usual screech to a more grindy ringing sound. That was the sound of them heating up to the point of failure. If you had checked your brakes at that point, either via F2 or hopping out after you had stopped, you would have seen them likely glowing bright yellow.
Just a fun little feature i have personally only seen once, but recognized the change in sound when you had full independent brake on.
Anyway, i wish you success in your career in the valley. :)

Why does the UA-cam recommend me this I don't know, but now I know that to drive a locomotive I need to turn on the pneumonia. But the ad obscuring stuff is annoying AF.
