It's difficult to put into words how this game looks. It's right in the uncanny valley in multiple ways, like the models and voice acting. Nightmare fuel.
I know exactly why the pause menu thing is so wonky! So when setting up a super basic pause menu, most people will go to the incredibly basic setup of just setting thr timescale to 0. This does in fact freeze the game, making for a quick pause. But it has some pretty major problems which you ran in to, all interactions are also paused. The reason this works the way it does is because in Unity when you set the code to set something as active or inactive, it will actually do that on the next frame of the game. But if the timescale is set to 0, then that next frame will never come. Thought it might be fun information to have!
Yeah pausing is actually one of the trickier bits in game programming (or at least it's tricker than you'd think) since you have to tell the game to stop this process but not that one because the player still needs to be able to input this, etc. You have to actually think about what "paused" means for every element and put that in.
The way I used to handle this (been a while, might not be 100% accurate) was to use the real time in Unity, which is a separate value not affected by the timescale as well as a paused bool for a few other things. You would also have to do this in case you wanna have any slow motion effects since it involves adjusting the timescale as well.
Avgn, eh? Speaking 'bout him, he should've quitted his useless ranting behaviour. I couldnt care less if he' single, but damn guy has been married and have kids ffs. Does he want his children to follow the stuff he do?
I’d say the fact that it is 18 minutes long and unskippable is a design sin regardless of the topic. People have places to be, things to do, be considerate of other people’s time.
I don't mind a long cutscene, if it's relevant to the plot, is well paced, well directed, involves some amount of player input, and doesn't plug an e-book at the end of it... It's all about respecting the time of the player.
@@Graeldon still, for subsequent playthroughs, the option to skip is appreciated. It especially gets obnoxious in games with hard battles that you have to retry over and over again. I already know the song and dance, just let me get to the action already.

My first thought seeing this review was, "This game has to be a joke, right?" Less then a minute later, it began to dawn on me, "Yes. It IS supposed to be a joke. A particular kind of joke." This game is an intellectual Trojan Horse. It starts out as relatively harmless, in a way that will quickly drive away the kind of person who wouldn't give its ideology the time of day, and then begins to innundate the player with increasing use of awful stereotypes in a "Schroedinger's Racist" sort of way (IT'S JUST A JOKE! ... unless you agree...). And then piles awful racist charicatures increasingly higher, all while training the player to just accept these fringe beliefs as "part of the game (unless...)." This game is bad. It's not stupid, nor harmless. It's calculated and evil. Thank you for calling it out.
Yeah as someone who used to be brainwashed by the alt right I've seen people on the right do that A LOT. It's only a joke when they need to pretend to not be racist

The Incest joke just before Level 4 was funny and, if I was lobotomized, I might think was a self aware joke about how the south has an incest problem, but within the context of the entire game, I'm thinking is some kind of way to imply that "The south isn't ACTUALLY incestuous, it's the Mexicans who are really like that!" or some other shit.
As someone who knows the politics that was birthed from, that is not the implication. It's a dig about modern consumption of "stepfamily porn" being a plot by "the elite" (see: antisemitism) to ruin America and destroy the nuclear family.

Two things 1. UA-cam kept recommending this video to me and honestly I'm glad it did, cause this is my newest favorite series to binge watch. Well seeing the game's stats on Steamcharts and other sites, it's sold less than 100 copies, and no one has actually played those copies outside of 3 people. I've never sure how accurate those Steam stats sites are though. Edit: Checking about a month later it seems to have had about 800-900 more sales since this video interesting enough. If you tell someone not to do something, at least some of them will just to spite you I guess, lol. It's now even got positive reviews on Steam. Joke reviews, 13 year old "look how edgy I am" reviews, and even one with literal Nazi terms in it. "Very good ! played only 14 hours but i will for 88 more in my free time for sure." That could totally be one of those edgy boys reviews though.
Honestly, the five minute diatribe about fiat currency sounds like it could be pretty funny. At least in theory. Like, they talk about the money and store mechanics, and then trail off on a ramble about fractional reserve banking, inflation, interest rates, etc., just a beginners guide to Macroeconomics. Maybe have a funny fade to black and fade back in, with the guy saying somthing goofy like "And that's why Richard Nixon is the devil, and why I'll never forgive him for taking us off the Gold Standard."
American here, at best, someone must have mixed up “true blue” (as in “true blue friend”, someone who is a reliable and loyal friend) and “red-blooded” (meaning a practical and patriotic person) Blue-bloods is a term for people of aristocratic descent, or in more modern US slang, “old-money” families. Either they were trying to avoid some sort of censor or are actually that dumb.
I'm incredibly shocked your channel is still small. Great video, great storytelling, and well done for exposing this kind of propaganda hidden inside a seemingly innocent game. Thanks so much for the love! Not every video will be exposing cults and propaganda in video games (but hey, there's an interesting thought) - but it'll definitely get called out when it appears!
I can't blame anyone who isn't from the US or Mexico for not knowing the context of the Alamo story, but anyone who does know will see it for the Swastika-bearing flag it is. The Alamo was an old Spanish fort in what is now Texas. During the war in which Texas seceded from Mexico, it was being defended by a bunch of guys against a Mexican assault. The defenders lost and were slaughtered to the last man. This was a good thing, and the world would be a better place now if it had happened a lot more. Texas was seceding so it could keep enslaving black people. Every man in the Alamo was fighting for the "rights" of slavers, and many of them were slavers themselves. They all deserved what they got and more, and if every man fighting that war had been summarily executed instead of winning, history would be a lot less dark. People who lionize the defenders of the Alamo want us to either forget that history, or consider it a good thing. These people are not to be trusted.
@@Frommerman Pretty accurate summary, though I think some people are moreso just straight up ignorant about the actual history of the Alamo than full on defend it in bad faith (Alamo was a bunch of good ol' americans fighting against an evil army of mexicans is pretty much just the pop history knowledge of it, like Napoleon being short or people in medieval times being flat earthers). With that briefly said however, don't get me wrong in that I firmly agree that how you describe the actual events of The Alamo as being accurate and I hate the whitewashed and oversimplified version of it that is common knowledge to many. It's rather disturbing with that as basically being the premise of the game, and how the game doesn't seem to show any slaves throughout the entire game, the only non-white characters being the "mexican army". It really doesn't surprise me with the context of the true history of the Alamo & Texas Slavery that eventually, a game like this *would* come around.
there’s something so delightfully silly about reloading your gun by madly waggling it around, real shame it’s locked behind such an ideologically slimy game cause on its own that’s pure comedy

@EdwinSmith544 the video would have been made regardless, as that's how my series works, apologies if that wasn't clearly explained in the video. Would my opinions have been different? Yeah, probably. I'd still be pointing out anything that is an extremist view that is being pushed on a player under the guise of an "educational/teaching moment". That type of content has no place in a game like this. for the entire video I was CONFIDENT that this game was just an edgy joke, that last part really made me think differently. if the dev advertised the book of someone famous for being a wacko far right like Alex Jones than it would have definitely been a joke, but the book they chose to push out is just so niche that there is NO WAY it can constitute as some edgy joke.

@@Graeldon I wonder what could be more edgy than actually propagandizing said ideology. Oh really? Not because of lgtqiehskfnksf+ propaganda in schools? Not because children being groomed into thinking they are transgendered? The system hasn't failed because of that you said?
The fact that there was no set Victory conditions tipped me off. They want you to just act and hate blindly not think and work towards a particular goal ("Shoot things until you're told to stop shooting things"). Having a specific goal in mind like "survive until the time limit" "kill x amount of enemies" etc. are almost always accompanied by a WHY-but for their purposes they couldn't give that why until they were convinced you were far enough into the game that you actually cared, and not trying to sate your morbid curiosity. Because of that, I feel like the "hit me" part is their attempt of weeding out the curious about the game vs those who they think genuinely are interested in the message. Of course they underestimate gamers like yourself, but I bet that was by design. Hell I would even go so far as to think its SUPPOSED to be a secret that there's more to the game, and only "insiders"-probably those in training-are told about it as a test. I dunno, this really itched my brain because I was raised in a cultish form of Christianity and it's weird how this mirrors their particular ideals and methods.

Thanks for the love! I agree, the game started out as "lolwtfbbq random" style cringe humour - but beneath the surface it's certainly more insidious.
As for subs - what I do is pretty niche! Most people want to hear about fun games to try, not garbage games! But hey, here we are 🙃

2. This game started of with a lot of fun potential. The ridiculous opening, the sticom stuff, and the cartoony nature is great. It's a damn shame it's just a mule to push absolutely abhorrent ideas. Pardon my French, but fuck the devs.

Please continue this series. Also yeah there's mountains of disgusting games on Steam sadly.
The part with the Devil made me start giggling because of how silly it was. But man, the rest of the game is insane
7:58 it sprays blue when you get hit because you're a *blue blooded American*, which is American slang for being a real patriot or something.
If that's true... just... wow.
Blue blood means "nobleman"
Ofc all those who want slavery, believe they will not be slaves
American here, at best, someone must have mixed up “true blue” (as in “true blue friend”, someone who is a reliable and loyal friend) and “red-blooded” (meaning a practical and patriotic person)
Blue-bloods is a term for people of aristocratic descent, or in more modern US slang, “old-money” families.
Either they were trying to avoid some sort of censor or are actually that dumb.
That is not and never has been any kind of slang. The term is "red blooded", as in 'genuine'.

@@PassandoStress I guess we are. Lol
It really doesn't surprise me with the context of the true history of the Alamo & Texas Slavery that eventually, a game like this *would* come around.
this game was made by someone that never played a game in their life lol, it's like a cargo cult idea of a game
I want to believe this game is an elaborate shitpost and rage-bait troll game, but I really don't know and that scares me

Eh, even as a shitpost or a troll, the devs are still comfortable pushing those ideas out into the world unchallenged.

there’s something so delightfully silly about reloading your gun by madly waggling it around, real shame it’s locked behind such an ideologically slimy game cause on its own that’s pure comedy
Imagine that animation in, like, a Doom parody or something.
if this game was made by a leftist or communist he either wouldn't make a video on it or wouldn't criticize it as much. Both his video and the game are politically charged and made to serve an agenda. I mean, he literally made the typical southern incest joke so we all know what he thinks about southerners lol
@@EdwinSmith544The game makes those jokes. Also it's a fuckin' nazi game. Not right or left (even though nazi's are right wing!), but nazi. Your just mad that he wasn't pandering to right wing beliefs.
But also the game is just inherently broken and flawed, and a complete chore to play, so it doesn't matter what views it tries to present, it's still a terrible game.

for the entire video I was CONFIDENT that this game was just an edgy joke, that last part really made me think differently. if the dev advertised the book of someone famous for being a wacko far right like Alex Jones than it would have definitely been a joke, but the book they chose to push out is just so niche that there is NO WAY it can constitute as some edgy joke.
The line between edgy joke and actual propaganda is apparently very thin. There are a large number of commenters who seem convinced that this is just a harmless shitpost.
@@Graeldon and an alarming amount who seem to be in support 🤔
@@Graeldon I wonder what could be more edgy than actually propagandizing said ideology. @@senormacaco2834 oh now you turned against your point
@@Pontheon. What exactly are you talking about? Are you agreeing or disagreeing with this game?
It sends my BITE-dar into a frenzy (I encourage you to look up the BITE MODEL. You'll find this game as the definition.)
