When kAN said "gotta get my choo-choo chugging," I couldn't help but think - that sentence would sound even funnier in Japanese. Y'see, the Japanese equivalent of calling a locomotive a "choo-choo" is the word is "shushshup-poppo" where "shushshush" is the equivalent of "chugga-chugga" and "poppo" is the sound of smoke puffing. In other words, they don't call locomotives "choo-choos" (the sound of the whistle), they call them "chugga-chuggas." If you were to translate kAN's "get my choo-choo chugging," it would sounds like "gotta get my chugga-chugga-puff-puff a-chugga-chugging." This is the joy of learning languages.
White Chocolate Cherry Pudding Cookies 1 cup butter (softened) 1 cup white sugar 2 Tablespoons Cherry jello mix (raspberry works too) 2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 package white chocolate pudding (3.3 oz) (vanilla will work too) 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 bad white chocolate chips Cream together butter, sugar, and jello mix Add Eggs and vanilla, combine well Combine flour, pudding mix, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl Slowly incorporate flour mixture into butter mixture Once combined, fold in chocolate chips Spoon by rounded Tablespoons onto parchment lined cookie sheet, 2 inches apart Bake at 350F for 8-10 minutes, with barely any browning. It's better to avoid browning at all, if you can, and let the cookies cool completely or they will fall apart
to answer KAN's question i wanna see hyce finish his main save as he still hasn't done a logistics job then have john-doe revoke your licenses due to unpaid debts to start a brand new career with KAN
At least with my experience on the logistical hauls, you or him isn't missing much, minus the extra money. Most of the time, at least for me it's like a freight haul. Sometimes though you may have to move some stuff around to get the logistical haul to fit into the siding, but most of the time it's open and you just drop it off like normal.
Can confirm the air vs steam whistle thing Hyce was saying. Galesburg railroad days in Galesburg Illinois back around 89 they hooked up an air compressor to the CB&Q Hudson they have on display there for the kiddos to be able to pull the whistle cord and have something happen. It did sound but all that weekend the random toots ( with the apparent more knowledgeable railfan that would give the standard crossing signal ) sounded but the whistle sounded weak and sickly
To Hyce, ES&D CDO and kAN, Fees and fines cost is 8,000 USD total. Hyce you owe the 6,000 USD while kAN owes the remaining 2,000 USD. kAN this means the total is 10,814 CAD. This means Hyce owes 8,100 CAD and you pay the remaining 2,714 CAD. Thank you for choosing me for your debt collecting services. Derail Valley Debt Collector, John Doe

Always fun to see a Hyce-Kan Derail Valley race; I'm glad they're back! As an idea for a future session, how about a multiple job race? Pick 3 locations that racers must go to at least once, racers can pick any of the 3 'light' locomotives to run, first to haul 5000 tons total is the winner!
You can remember which way the damper works in terms of the scroll wheel by consulting the name. It's a damper, so scrolling up dampens the fire more, and scrolling down dampens the fire less. Presumably the animation, meanwhile, is based on what way the lever would have to move to physically actuate the damper. basically, scroll up to more less.
Gloves vs rag - I bet every engineer and fireman brands the shape of something into their palm (like the head piece of the staff of Ra) and after that they remember the rag.
Mark, you would hate a fast run in Great Western 1400 class 0-4-2, going at a top speed of 80 mph with no lead wheels! at least you can control it from the back of the train because the push pull trains had these funny things called auto coaches, so that you can see where you're going. Imagine going 130kph in the s0-6-0 in the game and there you go.

Just wanted to say I like it when Hyce explains something to kAN even if I kinda understand it already because sometimes I learn I didn't actually understand it as much as I thought (and by "sometimes" I mean "often" 😂).
Working Derail Valley Multiplayer, means that 100 player trains all crashing into a splody’ boy filled yard doing 90 and causing unprecedented levels of Kenosha is theoretically possible, like that one scene from Blues Brothers 2000, but with locomotives.
Can't wait to meet you at the steam up. I can literally see the heritage group from across the yard. We own a tattoo parlor in Ravenna and the apartment upstairs can see everything.
That take of your train doing the dance. One will tango and the other will do the drunk. Different tempo. Hyce should do a video on the tango and drunk dance tempo in real time explaining it. :D Hey Hyce, your brakes look like it been dip in lava. Lets just hope they cool down. LoL
Yard speed isn't for the through track, it's to make sure that you have time to throw it into emergency if a switch is lined wrong and you find yourself staring a cut of 'splodey boys in the face.
I found your channel via looking for Rolling Line videos. This isn't quite rolling line, but still good for me and my need to have a video playing on my second monitor, haha!
Btw Hyce my friends and i who have been doing multiplayer came upon an engine skin ( Pennsylvania S282:and one for the 060) that puts in American style guages that read in PSI and fahrenheit and what not. Speedometer still says KPH but also say PRR and made in USA. Might be fun to use that in another Derail valley video.
I love the conversation about locomotive responsiveness vs. boiler size. Over here at the SVRy, the older volunteers who have run both of our steam locos will tell you that heisler 3 is "the sports car" of our engines because she responds to her throttle pretty much instantaneously, while big mike 19 is slower to respond to changes in the throttle. One guy said it's kind of like she's saying "If I must" every time you move her throttle. And for the record, heisler 3's boiler is itty-bitty, probably smaller than the one on your 20. Edit: That comment about whistles on air - Why did they blow the recovered whistles from Titanic on air?
2 people career = fun things like mid conssit engines, and DOUBLE STEAM!!!!!!! or SLUG PLUSS STEAM FOR ALL THE POWER so you can START and haul a load. actualy thinking of it, 0-6-0 + DE-2 is probably a early game dream team
17:05 I misheard that as "...70 levers in this coffin" 🤣 Now Im interested in seeing whether this was foreshadowing... 20:00 Similar logic to early Grand Prix Racing (early F1 so to say) "We will wear no seatbelt, because of a possible fire following a crash". Admittedly it made a little sense, bot looking at how many people died being ejected from their cars its dubious at best...
I had started watching the video, then had to take a break, then there was a Windows update and I didn't think about the comment I had started. Oh well. From what I remember, the only relevant point was: We have stripes on wheels, too on this side of "da pond™", but only in a rather specific context: Tyred driver wheels. White or yellow stripes every 90 degrees serve to notice whether the tyre has turned on the core. I'll leave the operational fine details out since they surely differ across Europe anyways, but basically the vehicle is moored until checked by shop personnel. They tell how to get it to a shop and there they will test it further. If the tyre has settled on the core correctly, they make new markings in red. Those have to be checked (and documented) every day for an extended period. If nothing more happens, the markings will be replaced by new yellow/white ones. 16:20 - That multiplayer career playthrough with the two of you does sound like a nice idea. I'm sure you have a lot of candidates for this, but I'll mention anyways that it would be both joy and honour to do dispatch for the two of you :D You know my experiences and qualifications 🙂 19:20 - My steam experience is limited to 5" and 7.25", at least there it seems to be more of a pragmatic (but also individual) choice. On/in engines where everything tends to get hot, gloves were commonly used. Other engines did manage to have relatively cool controls and you wouldn't need protection except for less used controls, so many'd use a rag where needed. The Tinkerbell class, which I've had most experience with, is extremely benevolent. You'd hardly ever touch anything else than throttle (wooden handle, wouldn't get hotter than actually pleasantly warm to touch), bar and cylinder cocks (both not directly connected to anything hot, so stay cool) and the firedoor (only hot element; but only in a surprisingly long interval and there you'd use a rag or actually just the shovel). I seem to remember (it's been a lot of years) the injector valve could get quite warm, but you hardly ever needed it; the crosshead pump usually pumped enough water. The element I (usually only nearly) burnt myself the most on was … the whistle. Because it leaked steam when actuated. Sucks, as you can imagine xD 19:40 - Throwing off your glove by flicking the wrist works as a charm when it's not burning and melting and clinging to the skin. That's not necessarily an argument. Also, without gloves you have better dexterity and more exposed sweating (= cooling) surface. Gloves and rags have both benefits and drawbacks. I think you can compare it to kitchen gloves vs. rags.
I ran my first loco today it was BNSF 7318 a ES44DC with 114 grain cars we were just unloading them at the grain mill I work at but BNSF leaves the manifest with us and we run them and dump them I can say I feel complete now.
I think the climb out of the harbor going north/east has two really steep sections, one right at the beginning and one in a tunnel past the bridge over Goods Factory. The climb north/west has that infamous grade right at the beginning but levels off after that, with the really fast section of track before approaching Steel Mill. Imo the north/east route is slower and more technical, the "normal" route going north/west is challenging at first and then lets you get up to speed.

Harbor to the Food Factory with the 060. Doable but far from easy no mater which was you go. Kan definitely had the easier route as the straight shot to the Steel Mill has two of the fastest sections of track in the game. But if you run hard the entire time you will run out of water just before the Steel Mill.
Problem is 060 is speed limited, you can barely make more than 60. That exact race with 282s would end up with SM route winning because it can actually make track speed
As for the loco shaking, try using the 060 switching in railroader. That particular loco makes me motion sick from the camera shaking. Espically going too speed around the corner. And maybe bring other guests in and see how the fare?
