I got a new one this year, when it was discontinued to be replaced by nx500. Well, I preferred the cb500x, which is much sexier and stylish than the new nx.
I'm from Singapore, and likewise, the local dealer is bringing in the NX400 to replace the CB400X. I managed to get the CB because the NX styling is kinda meh for me. Just hope there are adequate spare parts!
I have a 2017 facelift model and this 22 model will be my bike next year. I went to Scotland, from Somerset last year to try out the touring and it was fine, so the new model should be even better. I did 1200 miles without a single motorway mile and it was fabulous. Power is fine for all, except the guys who love hospital food.
Check the Dyno test results, no matter cause I ride here in Dallas/Ft.Worth and bike has *plenty of power* to ride in traffic going 75mph US. I have 500 US miles on mine and love the ride. Great review and video, Much better than mine, glad I found you. Blessings
Nice review. I recently rode the 2021 and 2022 model CB500X back to back on the same day and I agree, the 2022 model is definitely improved in several areas. The brakes were better, especially in wet conditions. Handling was pretty similar interms of weight and how flickable it was but the suspension was an improvement, for sure - felt a bit more controlled and plusher. The engine power felt similar but much less jumpy on small throttle openings - much smoother at low speed for the 2022. Headlight also looked subjectively nicer! I ended up with the 2022 model. 😆
@@ljoelmchanley3676 hard to explain really, the 2021 plate lights looked more like a strip whereas the 2022 has a distinct four led look, like the new 750 hornet. Apparently the 2022 has more powerful LEDs although I can't confirm as I rode them at slightly different time of the day.
Lovely, enjoyable real world review my friend. I’ve watched many you tube reviews on this bike as I want one & can say your report did the trick. I took delivery of a New Bike this week & so far loving it.
Great review only makes my decision to get a 2022 model even more valid, after 40 years + of sports bikes mainly 1000 cc and over its time to slow down and ride a more Comfortable and manageable bike..
Good review. I ride the 2016 CB500x and given the choice I would rather have a decent dash that you can see on a sunny day rather than an extra disc up front. Just a personal perspective !
In mid April I walked into a dealer, they they had one ordered and it had just shipped out of Chicago. I put down a deposit and picked it up 3 days later... I had been to 3 other dealers before and they didn't know when the could get one.
As far as i know there's delays in shipping Hornet 750/transAlp 750 but not issuses in the updated 500cc family, as far as my local Honda dealership told me
'Less is more' sometimes and the simplicity and economy of the 500x are its trump cards. I have a 2017 model and it does everything pretty well.....I would buy another one! Cheers.
I love my 2019 so I sure the newest version is a great bike. Brakes work very good on the single disc, the front forks are slightly under damped but does offer a plush ride and handles good...just a tad pogo'ish in some bumpy situations so the new forks upgrade is a good thing.
Great road test on the modern version of my bike on local roads to me :) Couple of points: 1) Mine has the single disc which is adequate & is also a larger diameter than the new twin disc set up - So I don't think the new version is twice the braking power of the old one ? It may be better but not twice the power. . 2) Interesting to hear his comments on cornering as mine seems very good; Mine has 17" wheels where as the new one has a 19" front. I would expect the new one to be slower steering ? . 3) My mirrors need extenders which are great. . 4) mpg is indeed amazing :) . 5) The CB500X is great to ride: Engine is very willing, if a bit limited on power. For its capacity it is happy at any revs and pretty tractable. . 6) Seat could be better, I use a gel pad &/or air seat. . 7) I understand the engine mountings are different between the models. That could be good. . 8) I have fitted an after market screen although the original one (on my 2014 bike) is smaller than the one on the 22 model. . Overall a great review of a great bike. I would certainly have another one.
Hello. Haven’t rode the older model so just saying how the new one handles. All seems good to me. I am sure the older model is a great bike to. Thanks for watching 👍
I tested one last week. 1. Twin discs would also deal with heat better. 2. 19" wheel is a little is to steer, but ok 3. The mirrors do need extenders 6. Seat was good but was only a short test Loved it!
19" wheel and new forks make big difference on offroad and bad roads, 17/17 is just clumsy on bad roads, and offroad feels scary - amazing how much 19" makes a difference. also since 2019 there are new tapered handlebars and more steering lock, so it steers easier then with 17. wheel, but it is different feel how you turn. You get used to it quickly.
Great review mate and plenty of info 👌 was that one of your fans crossing the road? 😆 I had the CB 1000 R which had the indicators on when riding, nice bit of extra safety 👍🏼
Hi, as a 50 years old beginner will you consider this beauty as a first bike for commuting and touring?! I am 1,83cm with 110kg ( little beast 🤪). The NC 750x looks also a good bike for beginners, did you try it!? Thanx and cheers from Serbia ✌️🇷🇸
Hello. No haven’t tried the NC750X. I think the CB500X would be a great bike for you. It would be very good at touring and commuting. For a new rider It will have a nice amount of power 👍
I just got a 2015 last year, I'm 49, new rider. Its a perfect bike to start. I'm 1.75cm. I got it because I wanted something reliable and all-around, it fits perfectly.
I didn't expected the bike can roll out, in 6th gear, up a hill with 20 miles pe hour and the power usually is high in rev at this bike. Nice power band even for such a small engine and quite big of a bike
There was never a problem with braking with the single disc, look at the road tests, the new forks and dual brakes were no more than a styling exercise.
omfg after u do brake test i get such a fright when oncoming traffic is coming - ur head position make it look like bike is on wrong side of the road but then i realise its chin cam and u are leaning left so its just the angle lol. for a sec im like omg he nearly died 😂😂
Hello. Would be best to take it out for a ride yourself really mate. As you can only answer that really. It depends on how you are going to use it and what bikes you have you had. If you have been riding something with 150bhp it’s going to feel slow. Think it has enough power to cruise around on. It’s not going to blow your socks off 😀👍
The fuel delivery on my 2019 is perfect...I have no idea what people are talking about on their complaints that you eluded to...they have no skills imho.
I have yet to ride a 2019 but on the 2022 you can tell it feels like there is some extra oomph from 3-5k rpm range. I'm assuming this is the added fueling.
How did you reach at the conclusion that 2 smaller discs at the front will brake twice as good as the single larger disc? One smaller disc has a smaller lever hence smaller braking force than the large disc. 2 discs dissipate heat over a larger area so there is an advantage if your name is Sir Brakealot but not twice the stopping power. Also the bigger disadvantage is that now you will pay Honda twice the money for the braking pads for less than twice the thickness and braking power.
I didn’t know at the time the single disc was bigger. End of the day the twin disc’s are going to be better. It’s just a improvement they have done on this model.
