Would be really useful if reviewers gave servicing cost figures for a new bike over the warranty period. I took a Triumph Trident/Tiger Sport 660 for a test ride a few days ago and was given £261 as the annual service cost, £302 for the 10k service, and a whopping £685 for the 20k service. Now seriously considering the CB500X as I assume servicing is much more reasonable but will have to check this out.
Hi Paul first 600 mile service is about £100 .... annual service I'm estimating is £200 on these ...they are cheap to service....I don't give service costs because it varies a bit from dealer to dealer in the UK and I wouldn't have a clue about worldwide so I find it's better not to mention it Incase I get it wrong lol Cheers mark
Greetings, As always another fantastic detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸 I'm buying one next week, because of your info. Thank you for the nice ride. Keep producing more videos.
Thanks for the review, Mark! Makes me confident I did the right choice, because I ordered one in red which will hopefully arrive by the end of May. It will be my first own bike. Although I have ridden more powerful bikes (Z900, Suzuki V Strom and Bandit 650) I think the power will be enough for my relaxed country roads touring. I test rode the CB500F and the engine really is fun, especially above 6000rpm when it starts pulling. But at the same time it's so freaking economical with its low fuel consumption. However I will probably be a unicorn with this bike in BMW GS land (Germany). 😄
You must be filled with anticipation and excitement whilst waiting for your new motorcycle - and well you should. I enjoyed my 2015 model (black with a yellow stripe) soooo much that last month I upgraded it to a near new (only 1,000 km, 4 month old) 2021 model (Grand Prix red). I’d ridden 20,000 kms on my 2015 model and have already ridden 3,000 km on my new machine (here in SW Australia). This is the 7th motorcycle I’ve owned (since I passed my licence in 1973) and it is simply brilliant. It doesn’t break records in any one specific area, but it does EVERYTHING more than adequately - nimble, comfortable, beautiful to look at, reliable, smooth and SUPER economical in terms of both fuel economy and maintenance. Get excited mate - you’re in for a great ride!
@@macalacalan1175 Thanks, man! And congratz on your bikes. I was really excited the two weeks after I ordered one and watched probably every CB500X video there is on UA-cam, haha. Right now this excitement decreased a little but not because of the bike but because I'm busy with life and it's at least another 8 weeks before I can ride it. The looks of it were certainly a factor for buying it. And every time I see other riders out on the street, I really want to ride as well... Anyway looking forward to the summer. 😎
I got my red one in march this year and it's a pleasure to ride it. It's my first bike too and during driving school, I rode a CB500F. The Fuel consumption of the CB500X is insane... 3,2l/100km I wish you a great time with your upcoming bike! Greetings from Saxony

Great review, thank you, Mark. I am considering this bike. I live in Thailand where the local price for the 2022 model is just 209,970 Thai Baht, which is around £4,750 give or take a few quid.
Thanks Mark that helps a lot in choosing my next bike. I’m currently riding a 2019 Triumph Street Twin and find the gearbox operation quite clunky. What’s this one like in that respect?
Hi Mark, love your reviews. Any chance we can get an inseam measurement to aid comparisons? Height is one thing but not directly related to leg length.
Hi Karl as it happens I do mention my inseam of 30 " in most of my videos if the past few years at the beginning when you see me on the bike but probably in this case I may have forgotten lol 😆 Best wishes mark
Very nice review of the Honda cb500x. This is one of the videos that helped me decide what bike is the right one for me. I was about to get a yamaha mt-03 as my first A2 bike, but the Honda cb500x looks to be a much better fit for me, as I look forward to quite a bit of touring, on a lot of different types of road. 👍🙂🇧🇻
I had a 2017 brand new, great bike after I changed the tyres. Moved to F750GS, then R1200GS, and getting a 2021 RT1250 on Thurs. But, thinking about a 2nd, winter bike, I was going to go Forza/ADZ 350 but. maybe another one of these instead? Same MOG, cheers for the review Mark.
Excellent review mark,I’ve yet to hear anyone say anything negative about these bikes. Not sure about the green colour though, think I’d go for either the black or red.Anyway,a very helpful review, keep them coming..ride safe. Cheers.
hi Mark, Thanks for the great review. I am struggling to decide between the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Honda CB500. Appreciate your recommendations, Thanks in advance.
Hi Arun if you have lots of long journeys planned with big miles the versys may be better because it's engine is more relaxed... however If it's just for general running about ...me personally I'd go for the cb500 they are incredibly economical best regards mark
@@markpulling12 Thank you so much for the reply/guidance. Am not a 'regular' tourer owing to work constraints. But surely the 'wish' is to do some really good long tours - an average of 500-600kms one way. I currently own a Harley Iron 883 but often struggle with it on bad terrain or gravel. Also, I did contact the Honda dealers locally and understand that their 2022 CB500x is not likely to be launched anytime soon in India! So mostly i would be settling for the Versys 650.
Thank you Mark. In another review video the seat was pointed as non confortable for mid range trips about 100 miles. What do you think about it? Thanks in advance for your answer!
Hi tbh any bike after 100 miles/ 2.5 hours riding your going to need a rest ...the seat is comfortable in my opinion and I'd easily go out for a full day riding on it :) Cheers mark
another brilliant review Mark, well done. I'm considering downsizing to something like this. Which would you chose though, The CB500x or the NC750X thanks Steve
Hi Steve if you are mainly planning up to say 100 mile rides the CB would be cheaper and more than capable...if it's longer rides the NC Is more capable I'd go NC myself 😉 Cheers mark

Hi Brad I had a trk for 3000 miles no probs whatsoever... very comfortable and smooth .. heavy to push about ...if you can afford the extra 1000 ish I'd go for the Honda as it has benchmark reliability but the Benelli is fine :) Cheers mark
Great review as always. Really enjoy your reviews, you're a reference to me. Quick question, how would you compare it against the Benelli TRK502 (which I just saw you owned about a year ago)? Especially in terms of daily commuting, and once-twice weekly big distances, some occasional tours. Thanks
Hi Raphael....the benelli is more comfortable and the engine is smoother ...the honda feels lighter the trk is heavy ....long term I'd go for the honda but the trk is a fine machine
@@markpulling12 Thank you so much for the swift response. Yeah, I imagine you can't go wrong with either one, but I rather have a light bike that I can take through and out of town without thinking twice. Seems that this will be the CB500X, cheaper too!! I'm currently with a Yamaha Tricity 300, after a very long hiatus on the car. FIne and very practical bike, Love it. Only problem is that it weighs 239 kgs, which is a lot. So after the winter I might go with a lighter CB500X. Keep up those great reviews!! Cheers
Wonder how choppy, comfortable this 500X is when riding at high speeds with about 240lbs/109kg of weight? Planning on getting this or the T7 when I semi-retire next year and have ton of time to ADV around the world...
Thanks Mark for another couple of informative reviews of this bargain bike. To be honest it's not my 'cup of tea' but for what it is it's a good un and if I was in the market for a cheap, do-it-all runabout your verdict would certainly have me interested. That aside I simply enjoy watching your reviews so keep up the great work mate.
Mark, great review and shows the value of such bikes. Bigger is not always better! On another subject when are you going to test the Royal Alloy TG or GP300 (Poole Moto) and maybe arrange a back to back with a Vespa GTS300 hpe (Deardens’). There would be a lot of interest nationwide as no one has done a back to back test on both of them. Scootering mag did a very short video clip but it was not a test. Just a thought!
Would definitely have one of these though maybe just a little tall for me. A great all-rounder with Honda reliability and great mpg. Bikes are just getting better and better! Thanks for a great video Mark, keep safe out there!
Great video again mark as always 🙂 looks a bit similar to the v strom and the versys. What I want to now is what is your thoughts between the Honda and the versys
Hi Mark Great Video! but the bike is now £6600 plus all your extras ! and not £6300 ? Also you cannot get a new one until late July/August 22, (if so get me one now) so by that time all the summer time riding has gone and you are buying a new bike running into winter? very frustrating! by the way im am also 5ft 7 and my feet with a 29" inside led do not reach the floor and they do not do a low saddle! so problems there! Mark they quote 300 miles to a tank not 0ver 200 as u said? But nice bike all the same!!!
Thanks Pete yes I'm just surmising re the range at over 200 miles but yes 300 miles is amazing And they must have just put the price up because it said £6300 ish when I checked a couple of weeks ago cheers mark
Wonder why Honda doesn't use black wheel weights on the black wheels, instead of silver? 16:30 I'm actually considering this bike. Looks nice and all the reviews are good. I'm 6'1" so need a bigger windscreen (I think). Are the directional signals totally manual or do they shut off after a turn? And thanks for the review. It is helpful!
Mark, did you get any spin off the Voge 500 DS it’s a copy of this with some interesting improvements included. It a Chinese make but looks very impressive indeed. Only £5,000
They are guite revvy and punchy at low rpm and are fun to thrash about on but they don't make you go omg like 100 plus HP ....they are more practical cheers MP
It depends on what you want. I went from a 98 hp FZ6 sports tourer to the CBR500R and I'm having a lot more fun with it. More playful and get to get on it and use the gears, plenty fast for public roads, and it costs so much less to run. The power is nice and low which I prefer so you can just roll on any time and be off. Having said that, if you're really into speed and acceleration, you may find it too slow by comparison. Where I live you lose your license at 40 or 50km/h over the limit, so bigger bikes are only more fun if you're willing to take that risk.
@@Thirsty_Fox I live in America where highway cruising speeds are often north of 80mph and currently ride an mt09 but it chews up tires and is very expensive to insure in my city. Thanks for the reply maybe I'll see if I can test ride a used one.
@@fearhand12 Not sure where you live that 80mph is cruising in the US? Montana? Everywhere I've been you are getting a ticket at that speed. Wife hit 75 to hit a gap when merging from on ramp and instantly pulled over.
@@fearhand12 - it's not really suitable as an 80+mph highway cruiser. It wouldn't be superbly economical at those high speeds either. Also 80mpg is 80mpg Imperial gallon, that's low 70's mpg (US gallon) at 60mph. The NC750 might be considered as a better choice for 80+ mph highway cruising, as it's noted for its comfortable and relaxed demeanour with cruise control. In Australia we are limited to 110km/hour (68mph) max speed limits on interstate highways, but generally 100km/hr is the highway limit, so the 500 as Paul says is sensible and sufficient for that.
@@joecamel6835 I went for the new Hornet 750. I’m glad I did. The 500 just don’t have enough power for me. I have since tried the 500 2 times. It’s such a great bike and easy to ride. Only con is lack of power
I am your height and looking at purchasing this bike. The guys at the Honda shop here in Australia said the bike could be lowered a bit. Would you recommend this and what are your thoughts on this?
Hi Steven...as you are same height as me you might not need to get it lowered...I was ok with it ....but if you do need to...you just drop the rear 30 mm with lowering links and then the forks 10 mm through the yokes ...it's straight forward and is a popular thing on many bikes...you could lower the seat instead but I'm not a fan because from experience you always end up with a thinner uncomfortable seat Best wishes mark
Hi Mark. I just purchased this bike and am so happy with it. I really appreciate your comments and suggestions. No problem with the height aspect and actually it's good to be above the height of the traffic in terms of riding the bike. Really appreciate your perspectives on this machine.
Hi Colin ...yes I would...I love it's amazing economy 80 mpg and it's fast enough for me these days If you were planning much longer trips then the v Strom would be more suitable Best wishes mark

You specify “UK gallons”. How is that different from US gallons? Ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons. Ok lee thanks 👍

Hi Paul first 600 mile service is about £100 .... annual service I'm estimating is £200 on these ...they are cheap to service....I don't give service costs because it varies a bit from dealer to dealer in the UK and I wouldn't have a clue about worldwide so I find it's better not to mention it Incase I get it wrong lol
Cheers mark
I think that the Honda does have an expensive service at 16k miles for valve clearances check.
At least, I think it's 16k. Might be at 24k.
@@DDLovett yes Dave it's 16 k for the valves :)

As a new rider your excellent comprehensive review Mark of this motorcycle it has to be a very strong contender for my first bike .

Thanks for another great review! Is the suspension on this Honda better than the one on Benelli Leoncino 500 trail?
Hi yes it is ..not massively better ...but it's a better option if you want to do some light off road

Thanks yes great choice 😊
3,2l/100km
I wish you a great time with your upcoming bike!
Greetings from Saxony
@@AvoxLP Congratulations on your bike! Yes, the fuel consumption is crazy and very welcomed in these times, haha. Another full month and I will get the hands on mine. Cheers from Lower Saxony. :)
Hi mark thank you for all the comprehensive reviews it’s a pleasure to watch but if I may say that I am noticing every bike you ride it’s all positive every thing works well smooth seems like you just love every bike you ride. I don’t share the same feelings when I test rode some of these bikes. I found lots of niggles
Great review, thank you, Mark. I am considering this bike. I live in Thailand where the local price for the 2022 model is just 209,970 Thai Baht, which is around £4,750 give or take a few quid.
Thanks Andy that's a great price 🙂😊
Thanks Mark that helps a lot in choosing my next bike. I’m currently riding a 2019 Triumph Street Twin and find the gearbox operation quite clunky. What’s this one like in that respect?
Hi Malcolm....it's very slick and positive...all the Honda 500s have nice gearboxes

NC750, followed by the CB500X. Nice to see a reviewer who isn't only interested in the latest pocket rocket. Both great bikes btw. Great review(s)....

Nice job, well done. Anxious to see one in person, unfortunately not many in the states yet, hopefully that will change soon.

Hi Robert ...dct would be interesting on this ...but would hike the price up I guess cheers mark
Hi Mark, love your reviews. Any chance we can get an inseam measurement to aid comparisons? Height is one thing but not directly related to leg length.
Hi Karl as it happens I do mention my inseam of 30 " in most of my videos if the past few years at the beginning when you see me on the bike but probably in this case I may have forgotten lol 😆

hi Mark, Thanks for the great review.
Hi tbh any bike after 100 miles/ 2.5 hours riding your going to need a rest ...the seat is comfortable in my opinion and I'd easily go out for a full day riding on it :)

another brilliant review Mark, well done.
I'm considering downsizing to something like this. Which would you chose though, The CB500x or the NC750X

Hi Steve if you are mainly planning up to say 100 mile rides the CB would be cheaper and more than capable...if it's longer rides the NC Is more capable

Another nice review mark.
I wish Honda would make a smaller bike with the auto trans or a 250 dirt bike with auto,
Good informative review. Would make a great winter hack/commuter.
I wonder what model of Continental tyres those are and what they'd be like on loose chippings/gravel etc.
Thank you so much for all the details...very informative. I'm a new rider looking at the 2022 CB500X as well as the 2022 Benelli TRK502X. Any thoughts between two ? Pros/Cons overall ?
Hi Brad I had a trk for 3000 miles no probs whatsoever... very comfortable and smooth .. heavy to push about ...if you can afford the extra 1000 ish I'd go for the Honda as it has benchmark reliability but the Benelli is fine :)

@@markpulling12 thank you Mark.
Benelli: tubed tyres, no full led, worst economy, heavier, not as reliable but looks good
Great review as always.

Thank you so much for the swift response.

Hi graham...poole moto know I want to try a royal alloy and will let me know when then have one :)
Which one would you rather have the NC 750 X or the 500?
Nc750 for me prefer it's low revving engine 👌....found it a bit more comfortable too 😊
Would definitely have one of these though maybe just a little tall for me. A great all-rounder with Honda reliability and great mpg. Bikes are just getting better and better! Thanks for a great video Mark, keep safe out there!

Do these feel quick to you? I'm used to faster bikes and wondering if I'll miss 100+ hp
+ quick shifter, it would be PERFECT...
I really really like it, I’m just afraid I’ll get bored with the small motor.
That 500 was surprising when I test road two different CB500F bikes , punchy and fun.

I am your height and looking at purchasing this bike. The guys at the Honda shop here in Australia said the bike could be lowered a bit. Would you recommend this and what are your thoughts on this?
Hi Steven...as you are same height as me you might not need to get it lowered...I was ok with it ....but if you do need to...you just drop the rear 30 mm with lowering links and then the forks 10 mm through the yokes ...it's straight forward and is a popular thing on many bikes...you could lower the seat instead but I'm not a fan because from experience you always end up with a thinner uncomfortable seat

You specify “UK gallons”. How is that different from US gallons? Ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons. I understand UK is metric and US is standard so UK-liter and US-gallon but does gallon have a different measurement in UK? If so, does that mean you lot have created a third separate measurement system?
Hi UK gallons are bigger than USA gallons...so you'd get roughly 80 mpg UK and say 70 mpg USA
