When I was 13 I didn't have the money to go see Maiden live, so my friends and I went to a fortress wall outside the venue to watch them play. The only sound I could hear clearly was the monstrous clang of Steve's bass rig. A fond memory to this day
That's a wonderful memory! I was 13 when I got Live After Death on cassette tape. I wore it out on a Sony Walkman. We had one rock station, every night about 12am, they would play 2 Minutes to Midnight, I would wait every night for them to play, I was 13. I did not get to see them live until I was 19. Good times
I love how Steve is all "Yeah, I bought this in the beginning of time, and I'm going to use it until the end of time".
he's...caught somewhere in time.
@@independenceltd.😖
Not like mustaine who changed brand and 5 differenct colors every 2 years
🤣🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤣🤣🤣
Until it doesn't work.
MASSSIVE respect for you man. Playing 10 songs with the band while also being Steve’s tech 🔥
So humble "oh, and I also play kb on almost every song" 😂
Bro should be onstage!
Awesome work Brent: Balancing all of that must be fun but demanding! Steve made me want to play bass - watching "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from "Live After Death" when I was 12 years old 🙌
I'm extremally happy to see such a an oldschool rig. This is the tone that got me into the metal music 28years ago and it's still unchanged.
Steve's bass tone and rig is like the secret recipe of a well known brand. It works, and has always been successful, why ever change it?
Hey Oliver, your channel is one of the best bass channels on youtube.
@@mouthbreatherinc5597 thanks man, hopefully I'll be able to put out some more Steve Harris content soon 😌
Remember Steve is the founder of the band since 1975
48 fucking years of Heavy Metal with the best musicians/singer of the Earth🤘💪🌟⚡️🔥
I love that Steve is such a creature of habit; he knows what he likes, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it! 😄 Thank you for this very neat video!
And if it is broke, pray that you have a backup. And a backup for that!
And if it is broke, never send a roadie to talk to Nicko while he's playing, it wouldn't end well
@@alessandropileri4405 TRUE 😂
🤣🤣@@alessandropileri4405
I like how he didn't switch to amp modelers.
Proper band. Proper musicans. Proper sounds.
No playbacks and mimics😉
They use a playback to open the show with the intro of Aces High or Caught Somewhere In Time so they can enter the stage running with fireworks.
I would like to hear the live intro once.
Amazing to see that much of the rig has been toured for decades! Also amazing that Brent plays keyboards from his tech station. That's a lot of work before, during, and after the show!
Meu deus!!
UP The irons!! 🤘😁
I’ve been waiting to see a video on Steve’s rig, even though it’s fairly minimalistic you can’t go wrong with the classic setup
Greatest bassist in the music history
PLEASE DO ALL OF THEM
Love how attainable the fallback gear is, and still sounds great!
Iron maiden is the best 🤘
Thanks for that.
Rush is also the best.
But Maiden is also too the best.
I watched it with great interest. It's great that Mr. Harris has been using the equipment for so long. thank you.
My god, he still has that Peter Cornish switching unit. I remember seeing it in their Compass Point photos when they were recording Powerslave. You would think that electronic gear would burn by now.
Well, think he takes the care of his equipment very seriously...and also has access to the best technicians/companies out there🤷♂️
Always nice to see the people behind the scenes adding to the musical presentation. Up the ivories Brent!
Thank you Bret, to you and all crew behind the courtain as you said! we love you too
Great video! I love these behind the scenes look at musician's gear. Tech guys...the unsung heroes of every great rock band!
Can't wait to see what special surprise Bruce was hinting at hopefully new live album?
Probably. Still have Bruce's solo stuff coming out as well. Up the Irons!! \m/
Hopefully Gers retires.
@@hugolafhugolafDude he brings charisma and energy to the band, not to mention a great guitar player. Don't understand the hate on gers.
I bet they will. Especially bc they never did a live album back when Somewhere in Time first came out and they’ve regretted it ever since
Nothing wrong with Janick. He's also written or helped write some excellent tunes over the years.
Thanks for the amazing video. Steve is the reason why I play bass. He has the best tone.
that's how you do a rundown. less than 5min. efficient and informative. didn't know 'arry's bass tech was also the in-concert keyboardist.
Davey: "this guitar has well over 20 years, it's time to change it"
Steve: "I bought this bass when I was 17 and I'm gonna use it untill the day I die"
Amazing!!! Same tone, same gear, same high level!! Steve Harris, a true legend!!
I think he should get some time on stage, maybe during Hell On Earth, just to get some credit, because the fact he plays all those keyboard parts live every night as opposed to just activating backing tracks is amazing.
Steve’s previous tech, Michael Kenney, had a little time on stage during Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, but overall he was backstage too, and agree keyboards gives a dramatic atmosphere during those song
Steve is a legend among legends
Thanks for sharing! Best of luck with the rest of the tour.
my absolute band 💪❤💪
Just after me!!! Just kidding! Maiden is for everyone!!! U0 THE IRONS!!!🤘🤘🤘
Best Band Of All time and you tube reports😊🤟🖤🔝
didn't know there was another musician in the band, thats great
Pretty sure steve plays all the keys on the albums, but I always thought they had the keys as backing tracks live!
@@liammews2375 their keys have always been live. Don't think they've ever had a set where 10 songs had keys before though.
Kinda disrespectful to have him off stage, but what can ya do, these older bands need to keep their image up...
@@ileutur6863 He has to keep his eye on Steves sound thats his main purpose
image? Maiden has been the same forever and doesn't change for any image or anyone. He couldn't be running back and forth playing and taking care of Steve's bass sound if he wasn't back stage.
I like his new tech. The guy seems genuine and professional
Wait! You're Iron Maidens keyboardist!?! What the hell. That's amazing!!
Up the Irons!! \m/
FINALLY!!!! AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS....NOW WE KNOW THAT HE STILL USES PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING...FANTASTIC!!
Desde aquí un recuerdo a Michael Kenney , el mítico roadie de Steve y que se jubiló en la anterior gira. Up the irons!
We play a few maiden numbers in our set and I use his preamp.pedal and it's really good at replicating his sound using a P bass with his massive flat wounds. Interested to know what you use the Kempers for?
If Bill Bailey was a Pokemon, Brent is what happens when you give him a moonstone.
Sweet! I love these insider tells . It's nice to be getting to know the people in one of my favorite bands ever. I've had a few but wow❣️❣️❣️🤘🤟❤❤💖
Tech 21 sounds amazing in an effects loop.
One of favorite bass players of all time outside of Getty Lee and the late Chris Squire!
Love this kontent!!! Keep em coming we NEED Adrian next! He shouldve been before Dave as he uses a bunch of different gear
Steve sticking to what he knows best. That stuff will retire when he does, clearly. But we need at least one more studio album before that happens.
I'd be so thankful if they managed to produce one more. I'm sure they have it in them but as they aren't getting any younger I just hope things align for all of them to get it done.
Como sempre profissionais ao Extremo.
LLLLLOOOOVVVVEEEEE I MAIDEN
Man is quite busy filling Michael Kenney's shoes but Brent landed a dream gig.
Crazy how such a straight forward rig is still a load of gear. 😅
STEVE IS SO AMAZING 🥰 I love that man so much!
Would be rad to see him on stage!!!
3:02 Steve fait ses courses à Super U !
The Red and The Black came about instructing Brent on which cables to connect. True story.
Classic Maiden sound!
I was surprised it wasn't Michael Kenney, I had no idea he retired last year. Big shoes to fill!
That guy is a literal Swiss army knife back stage 😄👍👍
Tks for shoring! Up the Irons \o/🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
That was really cool.
I have to be honest, Steve Harris is one of the most insane and yet simple bass players.
I can play like this guy with one bass and one amp which it is super inspirational.
Up the irons!
really need to get myself one of those Tech 21 pedals
🙏😁
Legend group, love group 🙏🍀❤️🎼🎶👌🎵✌️🎸🎤🥁
I'm seriously thinking of buying one of those Tech21s as a DI.
It's a toss-up between the classic SansAmp, Steve's or Geddy Lee's signature model.
😎🙏
Great stuff! 🤘
I wish someone would film Steve's right-hand at 1000fps so that I can just properly witness it at work.
Busy guy… Steve, give Brent a pay rise 😂
Very informative i wish acdc would do things like this go back stage and meet the crew they dont get the recognition they all deserve the hours they put in all men and women working the sacrifices they make its not a 9 to 5 job. Very very long hard working crew. I really hope the long term crew really do get a bonus and able to take some time off and spend it with families. I hope that the crew iron maiden crew are looked after i know they really do work such long hours
Meh
1. UA-cam->
2. Premier Guitar->
3. AC/DC
AC/DC is very mediocre
Mamma Mia...Fantastico
I really liked this video, I'm learning to play bass, I'm also going to have a band! I really like Iron Maiden!🤘
Love it!
So I'm guessing Steve is tight fisted as hell? LOL just like my landlord also called Steve! I've always loved What Steve Harris has done with the bass in heavy metal, bringing it out of the shadows and giving himself some pretty tough riffs to keep the guitarists working overtime.
Steve is using a lot of OLD gear. He doesn't change with the times, he just uses what he has always used.
I know guitar players who can't get away from their JCM800's either!
The Boss !!
All the best!
Dear lord, yes!!!😃😃😃
King, my King Harris!!
3:50 Can I play with Madness.
Considering how long he's been playing, the tendon strength in Steve's fingers must be insane.
He could probably push his finger through a man's skull, like some crazy martial arts character😂
Part of his very cool sound is his right plucking hand has a very light, agile touch.
I was reading a discussion about this. Also, for many years he’s been playing flat wound bass strings to tear up his fingers less than round wound. To keep the sound brighter, he puts on a brand new set of strings every show!
He’s uncopyable since he’s self-taught.
@@j_freed That's right - it doesn't require as much stamina as many people think with that plucking approach.
UP THE IRONS 🤘
The only thing I understood from this relatively technical video, is that Steve bought some equipment sometime in the 1920s and expects it to last for another couple hundred years.
Steve is a man who knows how to be economical and who doesn't spend his finances like a young who wants to change his iPhone with each new version...
Magnifico.⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️
Hats off to you good sir. The uncredited 7th member of the band. The legitimate 7th son!
Most musicians of his caliber would have about 10 to 15 guitars with them on tour. Super badasses only need 1. (and probably a backup just in case)
Iron Maiden RULES. :)
Thought it was Bill Bailey on the thumbnail for a moment.
Noice, I play bass for my university and in outside bands at times and I like Steve Harris a lot. Iron Maiden is my favorite metal band.
Other than that, cool and UP THE IRONS🤘🏾🔥!!!!!!!!!!:).
3:02 pyro setlist.
✨🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟✨ Grazie mille per la condivisione 🙏 Ottimo video 🤳 Ciao 🇮🇹✔️🤗
Thanks Brent!
Does as anyone know exactly what he used on phantom of the opera? 70's P bass (stock?), mics, speakers, cab, mics, outboard great etc?
Up the irons! 🤘🏻
And he has a Kemper in his rig 😊
Interesting. I actually want to know what the Kemper is used for....
I neeeeeed to know!!!
Grande Erberto Pancioni ti abbiamo apprezzato in questa tourneé
Where in first song is keyboard live :o?
Busy guy!

Мне сегодня ночью снился Брюс Дикинсон. Брюс Дикинсон. Моя мечта. Обожаю Брюса Дикинсона.
Good
Is he Michael Kenney younger brother? 😂
