ok
Aye sams here
Dear, dear Nicko... I've never seen this guy without a smile on his face. A tremendous, larger-than-life drummer and a straight up cool person. Been inspired by him for nearly 30 years!!!
The happiest drummer in the World.
Even if you don't like Iron Maiden how could you not love this guy? Seems like a super great guy to be around and one hell of a dummer.
The most detailed walkthrough of a drumkit by one of the best drummers of all-time. Always fun to nerd out about hardware.
@The Corporal- I'm not even a drummer and I'm nerding out. Awesome.
What a beautiful drum kit and a beautiful human being behind it. I absolutely love Nicko. He's such a blessing to all of us.
Almost 70 years old and still going strong.
Age ist just a state of mind.
That's why I need to see them before they all retire
@@skystink yes one tempo
@@YoursTrulyThe1Pony thats what I thought so I bought tickets for me and my brother for Gothenburg 🤘
@@YoursTrulyThe1Pony - Exactly. See them while you can.
How can you NOT fucking love this guy…amazing drummer and no one has more fun behind the kit than Nicko, and what a fucking kit! Holy shit bruh, what a piece of art that entire rig. Missed ya Nicko…🤙🏻
@@sixyearstolive8296 Im sure hes crying all the way to the bank, you are entitled to an opinion even if its wrong🤣
@@sixyearstolive8296 your ass is off, and so is your hearing
Because I usually prefer Clive Burr
I'd read a Nicko McBrain autobiography right away. Could you imagine the stories? Better yet audio with his own narrative.
Nothing worse than someone talking about somebody that's done and been through what this guy has like someone talks about a horse being put to pasture.
It's impossible not to love Nicko.
I just love how this man seems to be having fun all the time. And calling his friend to be in the video was amazing. So much hard work behind what we see in the shows.
Well done Nicko!
Hello, how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
Just notice how he actually loves what he is doing. Unbelievable. He talks with so much passion.
I should hope so.
These guys are legends. I'm 50 now and been listening to them rocking roll since I was 15. And they still have the same magic.
Jesus that definitely put some perspective on it.
Right with ya bud! I’m 51 and listening to Maiden sine I was 13. Roll on Belfast!
@@mickryan4921 Same and mom thought the D&D phase was devil stuff, good times.
47 here. I've never been to a concert but I need to get to one soon
Hey, 51 here - I was 12 when I first heard Where Eagles Dare - Piece Of Mind, the world's introduction to Nicko. Can't wait for Download in a couple of weeks!
One of the most underrated drummers in the world. Nicko is one of the best ever. Growing up listening to Steve and Nicko's rhythm section it doesn't get any better.
Humm underrated i don't really know of anyone that doesn't think that Nicko is one of the top two or three if not simply the best and he's to be to keep in rhythm that Steve sets. Regardless Nicko is one of the greatest ever.
He's not even top 10 lmao. He's a great drummer but very one dimensional. Clive burr was a MUCH more talented drummer. Literally nobody who drums considers him top 3 what are you talking about 😂
@@Sfcfan120 one dimensional? I mean, you could pick something else to rag on because that's just objectively not true 😅
@@Sfcfan120i've been drumming for 17 years semi professionally and I consider him top 3
The way Nicko presents himself reminds me of a small town UK builder.
Works hard, loves what he does, would sooner die than retire and if you ask, he'll tell you every detail of the job with the boundless enthusiasm of a new mother showing you her babies.
Never clicked something so quickly and so hard.
Damn, this kit looks good!
Same
It's fucking sick
I hope one day I can play on a drumset like that!! Nicko you are a huge inspiration to me! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Holy crap its one of my favourite tiktok drummers!!!!
Don't know if someone is reading this, but if you are: You are amazing and beautiful! I believe in you! ❤
I like iron maiden and megadeth pls cover of megadeth holy wars the punsiment due
I'm having nightmares thinking about miking those 14" and 15" toms with that ride cymbal placed like that! :P
What’s up, Glenn!! I agree - I always imagined how daunting it has to be to a drum tech for Maiden, Dream Theater, and especially Rush, lol
Earthworks mics! It was worse in the 80’s and early 90’s when he used to have the 20” ride just to the right of the 22.
I knew glenn would complain lol
hmm, don't these guys usually catch toms and most cymbals with distant sets instead of special close mics?
F off🤣
I always kept my crashes just over my toms, as a live audio engineer I know I'm an asshole.
The whole kit is incredibly beautiful. No one better to play and represent these. Thank you Nicko.
Maiden are absolute pros. They sound like a well honed machine. They don’t have bad shows. Bruce’s voice sounds amazing, the band performance is spot on. Nicko’s playing is such a joy to listen to. No one plays fills like he does and his sense of timing and overall composition of his parts to shape the songs are integral to the rhythmic magic of Maiden. Best band on earth for my money…
Maiden has really been stepping up their social media presence since the lead-up to Senjutsu.
Whoever is responsible for all this, great work!
When they re-united it was phenomenal, loads of access and material. Everything with the band now is so tame. You young guys can't see more than 12/24 months ago and it's genuinely sad.
Like a fine wine that gets better with age...We love you Nicko! Lovely.
Such a great Guy!! No egotistical BS. God Bless him and the family and the band.
Nice shout out to Charlie the drum tech. The unsung hero.
I love how unique Nicko's setup is from a drummer's perspective. That ride overhangs the rack toms by so much I'd be hitting it unintentionally all the time, but Nicko has totally mastered his instrument and knows what he needs. It seems like he's tilted the tom angles forward just a bit, you might actually be able to see him behind the kit now, lol. Absolutely gorgeous kit, all props to Nicko and the builder for a fantastic setup.
Absolutely 💯!!
hit toms are at the same angle.
My ride overlaps because of nicko
Nicko set up has barely changed in 35 years. He hasn’t changed the angles you’re just imagining things
Yeah I've been baffled by his ride position since he joined the band. Fuck knows he misses it when he hits either of the rack Tom's there. Every fill through there I'd be all "ding" - "fuck!!"
Could listen to him talk about drums ALL day long! He’s the best! The story of Charlie and the gong was friggin hilarious!
Class act! His enjoyment and smile is contagious! Thank you Nicko for being an inspiration to us all!
Happy 70th birthday Nicko for the big day in a few weeks time. It’s inspiring to still see you as passionate about drums as you were when you were younger
Last night in Zagreb those drums sounded like thunders from heavens.
Heaven can wait...
The kit is beyond impressive, but it doesn't hold a candle to how humble and gracious this legend is!
Nicko always has the most beautiful kits but they are also constructed with a purpose. You often see drummers with big kits and when they perform they don't use half of the drums or cymbals, every piece on Nicko's kit is there for a reason and he knows how to use it. Another gorgeous kit Nicko! Good luck on tour! Stay safe brother!
He just said the gong aren't used :D
I feel like I read this comment on every video about a drummer with a big kit.
Who are these drummers that have huge kits and aren't using all the pieces?!
@@MarkRiches IDK. Peart, Portnoy, Fishman, Bozzio, all the people I've seen use everything. Perhaps not each and every gig but the setup is the setup. Perhaps some nu-metal poser band drummers had more than they could chew, but I don't know
Nicko the best drummer of world!
I got to meet Nicko in 1989. He was in West Virginia for his wedding. He and a couple of his friends were out for a day of boating at a marina that I worked at.
I was not aware who he was at the time. I was fully aware of Iron Maiden and their music. I was 18 at the time and thought the band was amazing then.
Anyway, even being the celebrity that he was at the time, he was the most humble and polite person.
It was an odd experience meeting a person in rural West Virginia with such a thick English accent and that the encounter really stuck out to me at the time.
It was to my surprise that a few days later I saw a wedding announcement in the local paper and to my surprise, there was the polite English gentleman that had rented a boat from me.
It was a pleasure to meet you Nicko.
Man, he is one of a kind, great drummer, unique style and such a positive person.
Saw them yesterday in Zagreb, the performance was absolutely on point, including of course the drums!
@kid Yeah there is footage on UA-cam worth checking out 👍 Up The Irons 🤘
wait so did he saying their playing songs from senjitsu on this tour?
@@funghoul9124
They opened the show with the first three tracks from Senjutsu (the title track, Stratego and Writing on the Wall).
@@keefriff99 yea i'm an idiot. i'm on youtube and i didn't realize the videos are up......they sound fucking awesome......their getting old as shit so its unbelievable how great they still sound.....nickos like 70...crazy!
I've been a Maiden since the age of 6 (Live After Death), and I gotta say the art for Senjestu is some of the best (imo) in the band's career! This drum kit is 🤤! Just beautiful
It's amazing so much energetic ambition. So much to be inspired when you follow a drummer like this. A true drummer from the top to the bottom. One of the most amazing bands in the history of rock and metal.
God damn I bloody love you guys. Last night in Belgrade was phenomenal. Love you to death, you made my life bearable at times I was at my lowest, thank you eternally. UP THE IRONS!
Love you Niko, met him 22 years ago aged 16, sweetest guy ✨🙏✨
As someone that knows nothing at all about drums, I found this fascinating.
Me too - I know nothing, but went to school with the guy who made them, hence I watched this - as you say - fascinating!
Drums are fascinating. Certainly a lot cooler than guitars 😎
I have met Nico years ago at a trade show. He is still the same great down to earth bloke he was back then...a drummer we fellow drummers can be proud of.
You threw a stick right to me at a show in Phoenix Arizona in 2000...! I caught it left handed and kept it as a prize possession for many many years. I even mounted it to a burned and lacquered Number of the Beast plaque someone gave me with the show ticket below it. It got stolen a few years back and it still bums me out to this day. Nicko, your my favorite drummer in the world and so is Nicki from the Iron Maidens female tribute that I've had the pleasure of teching for many times.
When you looked in my eyes you smiled and tossed that stick right to ME I felt the love of the BEAST ..! It was a DREAM COME TRUE.
I wish I could see you again. My first show was Seventh Son in 1987 at Alpine Valley the week before Stevie Ray Vaughan died there. I would love to see a comment from you man. You are THE G.O.A.T. of drummers in my book.
It's a blessing and impressive to see such a long-lived band. Yesterday I got emotional seeing these boys playing like monsters. Playing maiden is a heavy and physically tiring exercise. Long live our heroes and what about Nicko Mc Brain? He is a very dear man and spectacular musician! always bless everyone
It was so much fun in Zagreb!
Enjoy the rest of the tour!
Can we appreciate the fact that this man is nearly 70 and still playing this massive kit with amazing precision? Incredible
Nicko is a gem! I love listening to him.......and his cheerful personality. Now the drums. Wow, the craftsmanship by the BDC and the stunning artwork are top of the line to say the least. He so deserves this kit after years and years of hard work!!!
Saw them last night, first concert and best concert that I’ll ever go to
You were beast last night in Zagreb. Thanks for everything Nicko!
That kit is sick! Had the pleasure of meeting Nicko years ago in Toronto backstage during the Somewhere in Time tour. Champ dude! And super tall!
Nicko is a fab drummer and a true example of a class act.
The 1st concert I ever went to, was Iron Maiden in Cleveland Ohio in 1984, fastway was opening band with someone else I think...Greatest band of all time !!!! Keep on rocking !!!!
Me, Nov. 1984 at Québec coliseum. One guy fall from the top to the floor. Boom! Show must go on. Never stop.
I saw that tour when they went to Shreveport La. Fastway was the 1st band, and Saxon was the 2nd.
Coney Hatch?
The greatest band ever!!! Can’t wait to see you guys! UP THE IRONS!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Dear Nicko ... you sure deserved Every little piece of this Drum kit .... you were born to play it ... for a longa Time ahead ... I hope.
(From Brazil)
Stunning in every aspect but the best part of the clip Nicko was your acknowledgment & appreciation of Charlie for all too see! So heart warming. Much respect to you both 🙌
On top of the enormity of talent that makes up Iron Maiden the true heart & class that you all display is what really takes the cake for me when it comes to what an avid fan l am.
I absolutely love everything about you not just your music which has been 1 of my favorites since 1st hearing you at 15years old, im now a 50year old NanNan & love, thrash & handbang to you loud as F**k the same as the very 1st time!! My tiddley winks love you now too!! Big love from New Zealand 💗🤘👌 & THANK YOU 😘💃
Hello, how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
It's amazing the skill and passion he still has at his age. Nicko can run these young kids into the ground. Also, thanks for the history lesson, I had seen the Buddha cross before, but never knew the history behind it. It's amazing between Bruce and the guys how knowledgeable the whole band is on various subjects. Nicko and Bruce are a wealth of knowledge about history, Bruce especially about aviation, Adrian is a first rate fisherman, and so on with the rest of the band and their interests.
Nicko is a licensed pilot too - just for smaller aircraft.
....and with a single bass pedal.
Don't know if someone is reading this, but if you are: You are amazing and beautiful! I believe in you! ❤
He would never run kids into ground, he would welcome them with a lovely smile and joke. That is what nicko is about and part of his legacy. That's the difference between UA-cam heroes and real ones.
@@rockithoney What he means is that Nicko can still steal the show from aggressive young guns.
Holy shit! Those are literally the most badass drums I've ever seen in my life!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 UP THE IRONS! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
My my my it's like me dying and going to drum heaven ,seen that drum set Nikki you never fail us I love you brother!
I was into Iron Maiden as a teenager. I'm 45 now. I'm an ex pro jazz pianist and I'm a bit of a pedigree music ponce.
I still love it and these guys still cut it. That's not a bad sounding basic fusion kit.
They are fucking brilliant. Another league of quality musicians working together perfectly.
God I love you Nicko. What a bloody kit!
What an amazing person Nicko is , Legend
The sound coming from that thing is pure drum heaven, super clean and powerful. Great content!
Admittedly,I'm not a drummer,so am not familiar with all the technical stuff, but I have always loved Nicko's kits & this one is the dogs dangley bits !! Absolutely gorgeous 🤘🤘
Must be such a help to Nicko to have Charlie tend to that vast and precious kit. We all want Nicko to keep having full playing, recording and touring. I imagine that kit is a full time job to treat with the care it commands. Grateful there's a man willing to make it his career so we get to hear it!
Nicko, you are a Top Human being, just like the rest of the band, humble, fun, and a great drummer to boot, can't wait for Nottingham in July👍
Can’t wait to see the drum kit in person in Berlin this July!
Gotta love a new Nicko drumset video, always some great artwork relevant to the tour.
They sound so unique! So...........rich and sumptuous and .........bleedin' gorgeous!
A fun presentation of a fantastic kit! I'd love to hear 'Where Eagles Dare' played on this setup!
Absolutely love the in depth Nicko kit review videos every tour!
Nicko is one of the most genuine human beings on earth. Love the dude!
To think I had the great fortune to see and hear this band (years before they became the world's biggest and greatest Heavy Metal band) at the old Cart + Horses in Stratford. I was an American (still am actually) living in Stratford (working for Ravenseft Properties. Who built the Shopping Centre) when I popped in to a pub to hear some music. On that night I heard Iron Maiden for the first time. I was thirty-six y/o, but I swear when I left, I was seventeen.
It's so nice seeing and hearing somebody talking about something they really know about and love.
I had NO idea the research and work that goes into your kits Nicko. But it makes sense because you are one of the greatest drummers on this planet. I can't wait to see you in Toronto
I have such gratitude that I am alive during the time of Nicko and Maiden.
I remember shooting video for one of Nicko's drum clinics in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania over 30 years ago. To see these kits from his perspective is something special. Up the Irons kid! See YOU down the road soon.
Please do a guitar rig rundown for each guitarist that would be amazing!
Exactly, showcasing pedals, amps and everything, as they are all probably endorsed.
And a beverage rundown to see what lubricates Bruce's throat.
I’d love to hear them do it themselves, hear some more of the history and motivation. Plus play a little. It’s always a treat hearing them play by themselves. Adrian has done it in a few UA-cam videos and his picking technique explained so much.
Plus I’ve heard way too little of Jannick.
They have tons, I know that
Amazing kit Nicko, can’t wait to hear it at my first ever Maiden concert, soooo excited !! See you on June 26th 😁
God bless you Nicko, you re the best drummer in the world. Greetings from Serbia. 💕☦️
I met Nico at Rock and Roll ribs ❤️
He has delightful wonderful energy and was gracious to stand for a photograph as my mom struggled to get it to work.
I was able to tell him that I was the first girl to play the drum set in my school.
Wow, they just get better and better. I really dig the artwork on the shells. Nicko is a legend and quite the character. Tear it up chaps!
Nicko is the greatest!! Beautiful kit and Thank you for sharing!! UP THE IRONS 🤘
That kit is incredible…I love it. I saw Nicko on his first tour with Maiden (The Piece of Mind Tour) at the now demolished Philadelphia Spectrum. Loved him then love his work now. He’s been one of my inspirations as a drummer. He’s also a great guy.

That's such a fucking cool kit, the artwork looks so nice and Nicko is definitely well-spoken, great sense of humour as well. Love live Maiden, man
The man is a machine & his sets are always massive 🤘🏻
Love this man, love this band. I'm nearly 53 and can remember when I first got into Maiden when I was 13. Up the Irons and hope to see them down in Adelaide Australia soon 💙
Mr. McBrain is also 10 years older and hasn’t missed a beat! Thank you for all the great years of music and entertainment!
saw him in Atlanta. think he was 67-68 years old....still playing everything just as precisely as ever, and laughing his ass off the whole time. he's amazing
I love his passion, & the whole bands passion! I hope that flame never goes out. Thank you for enriching my life with your music. You’re the BOSS!
It’s remarkable that Nick can still plow through Maiden’s set a few times a week at almost 70 years old. They might not be the most technically demanding drum parts, but the song lengths require some serious endurance, particularly his single-pedal gallop technique. What a legend.
Very true. It’s seriously impressive.
NOT DEMANDING?!?!!!!
Not demanding
Where Eagles dare
Pick one
@@SonnyGTA
In the grand scheme of things, Maiden’s drum parts are fairly basic, particularly over the last 20-25 years.
@@keefriff99 False, I would say they’re less innovative (Nicko has been using the same licks for 30 years) but they’re still demanding to play. Aces High and Run to the Hills are played last in the set and they’re arguably the fastest songs of the set
I’m not a Maiden fan from back in the day, just a gear head drummer who checked out a recommended video. I know Niko’s name, but nothing really about him. What a cool guy! He seems so humble and fun. I totally see him going down to the pub for fish and chips after a show with his mates. So down to earth.
Not only do they look awesome, sounds incredible as well 🤟🏻
Nicko is the one who makes banging noises behind the musicians aka guitarists, 🙂
Nice Kit Nicko. been a fan for over 40 years.
Man u r great fans...
Best Metal Drummer of all Time, thanks Nicko, you are great!
My first concert was Maiden on the 'Powerslave'(live after death) tour in 6th grade. Changed my life tragectory forever!!! Back then drummers would often do clinics at the local music stores & i caught Nikko at one. He is the sole reason i started with Paiste 2002s! Love to get my hands on that snare!!!
Very particular, truly a piece of art. 👍👍🎼🎶
Gorgeous kit, can't wait to see it in person at download
I've been a fan of Iron Maiden from the beginning, & Mr McBrain is a KILLER drummer, but a even better human being. I had the pleasure of meeting him in the early 80's when he did a drum clinic at Dale's Drum Shop in Harrisburg, PA USA. It would be awesome to have him come back and do another clinic....what ya say Nicko, will you come back and have another go at Dale's. We love to see you again, Cheers.
ONE OF THE BEST DRUMMER'S AROUND. 70 YEARS STRONG... LOVE THE NEW KIT
Thanks for the many years of inspiration Nicko , it was you & Clive that stir up in me my first true love to pursue my life of drums & I have never stopped since 😭
It's literally a work of art that functional, and beautiful to look at. Especially for Eddie fans ! Frickin sweet !
Nicko - you guys are the best!! I've been following Iron Maiden since 1982 when I started middle school. Incredible band!
Oh Nico...rocking it like always! Glad to have met ya at a drum clinic in Cape Town (South Africa) on your tour with Blaise...and then again you rocked it with Bruce at the Grand West Casino! Maiden will always be my NO 1 power metal band!!! :) \M/
