    My Band opened for Slayer at the Stone in San Francisco. It was one of our worst concerts ever. Slayer's fan's were booing the entire time, and then a guy flipped me off in my face, following me if I changed sides. It was a nightmare. We cut our set down a few songs. After the concert, I was in our dressing room, no one was talking I was looking at the floor. Then Tom came in and said where's the singer. I raised my hand and he walked over. I said I was sorry it didn't turn out well. Tom told me not to worry, we did fine. Tom basically said I think our fans want no opening acts, just Slayer. He then said some really nice things and made me feel a lot better. I was stunned at what a nice person he was. I could tell he had a good family and was raised very well. He's a really good person.

      I saw a similar thing when I went to the Cavalera's show. Max and Iggor were playing old Sepultura stuff, and a band was opening for them. The band was amazing and they have some headbanging riffs but the damn crowd was DEAD, LEGIT DEAD. The singer was telling the people to mosh but NOBODY WOULD MOSH like YO... It pissed me off.
      After that I went for a beer and I bought some tshirt and their record, the band was there so I toke some photos and they signed the CD and everyting. They're nice guys and the singer looks a lot like Phil Anselmo. I understand your frustration but don't you dare to give up, pussy

      Yo dude, you should feel proud that you got to do what a lot of bands only dream of doing. Every band has bad shows. What's the name of your band? I personally would love to hear your band if you have anything on UA-cam. But most people do only want to hear Slayer if you go to a Slayer show. No offense but the opening band for Slayer is irrelevant. Unless it's another big name band.

      @@lassed57 Np, yes very thin strings have less tension so they take less force to press down, less force to bend, less force to hammer on or pull off, and less force to pick. This means you can play with a much lighter touch, which in turn makes it easier to control your movement and therefore easier to play faster.

    My band recently opened up for Exodus, I got to briefly meet Gary, and he was nice! His guitar tech was super cool too! He told my bandmate and I a bunch of stories and filled me in on what gear was being used on tour! He uses a different set of amp heads and miscellaneous gear for Exodus, but this video is also 10 years old, so he could've switched it up during his tenure in Slayer

      C# standard with 10's is like playing hair to me. When one tours and plays like that however, it is best to be as efficient with one's energy as possible - especially as one gets older and perhaps doesn't snort shit up their nose anymore. You've seen the pic of Kerry and Tom on the lyric sheet for Hell Awaits eh?
      11s in Eb and 10s for E standard for me. Last I checked I'm not in Slayer playing music that fast and constant for 2 hours a night on international tours though :) Michael Schenker and Joe Satriani use 9s. Al Dimeola and Frank Zappa used 8s. Stevie Ray Vaughn was said to use between 11s and 13s. It's fascinating to me to learn who uses what and for what reasons. I love the Quest For Tone. I'm not alone here am I my brothers? MARSHALL, mahogany, ebony, rosewood, Alnico II, V and Ceramic. Vintage 30's, EL34 and 84s. Magic. :D

    Its amazing that pedal is the tone everybody wants!

    • @GimmeJimmy23
      @GimmeJimmy23 6 років тому

      I think part of it is just what the pedal does . . . It pushes the amp into a natural overdrive rather than just destorting, right? I've been using mine on numerous different amps lately, and I've noticed, what it does with a marshall plexi sounds totally different to my ears than the effect through my crate 2x12, for example, but sounds amazing in both cases. Plus, it is great as a clean boost, in addition to producing some iconic overdriven tones . . . What's not to like? Not to say there aren't a million other great tones one could get with other effects/amps/configurations, however . . .

    • @capoman1
      @capoman1 9 місяців тому

      It's in every metal guitarists chain. Even works in amp sims. I never owned any pedals, but I did have a digitech floor unit as a kid... If I had that rig now I'd know to look for the overdrive pedal going into my distortion channel.
