Got all the stuff! Making bookmarks with my iguana's skin tonight! Edit: A couple tips I found while making these...pick out larger scales vs small scales as they show the colored paper better. Also, rub a thin coat of the glaze on the skin before you cut it. It stiffens it a bit and makes it much easier to cut, otherwise it rips pretty easily! It also adds a nice shine to it before you put it in the cabochon! One more tip, my iguana's skin (other reptiles might be different) required a precision sharpie when marking on it, a pencil just wasn't working. Have fun to those who are trying this!
Thank-you!!! How did you manage to let the glaze on the skin dry without gluing it to some surface? Or did you glaze a larger piece directly on the paper and then cut them as one entitly?

I came to the comments because my boyfriends sister has a gecko and thought she'd get a kick out of this video but now I'm sad knowing geckos eat their skin. Shoot.
if you don't have a reptile you can alwas ask in a fb group or forum for reptiles if someone can send you some shed; maby for shipping cost or a small sum of money (I did this in a group for bird owners when I needed parrot feathers for a diy project; the lady who sent it to me was super nice and sent me like a whole parrot worth of feathers,I asked for 10 haha XD)
My snake had his first shed with me today, and it came off very nicely! Got a really good head piece too, so I am definitely going to be trying this out! Thanks for such a clear, easy-to-understand tutorial for how to make these :)
I just bought my first baby corn snake, Curly Fry. I think I'll make one for each shed to document his growth. I'm very excited. Thank you Emily. I hope I get to meet you one day. 😊
Thanks for this awesome tutorial! I finally gave this a go using a corn snake and ball python shed, and they turned out great! Some things I can suggest: -use a scalpel to cut the shed (and possibly also the paper) to shape, it's easier to be more precise. -you can paint the background paper with acrylic paints or iridescent nail polish or use a colourful cut-out from a magazine or something to create backgrounds that are shiny, have colour gradients or cool patterns.
Miah The Seahorse Shapeshifter Siren Hybrid With a lot of geckos, they eat their shed to consume whatever nutrients are in the shed. Not because they’re scared, try and leave the shed in their tank next time they shed, and see if they eat it.
I’ve been watching your channel for a while, and I never knew you made jewelry. How cool! Great work Emily! I personally don’t wear jewelry, but another great way to keep reptile shed is to buy glass jars with a lid (either from your local dollar store or a craft store) and keep it in that. Looks really good as a display piece in any room.
I can’t wait to have my own reptile!! I think I’ll cry when I finally get one. I’ve only been a snake lover for 4 years after having a High school teacher who loved to catch wild snakes for lessons. He had caught a baby rat snake named Bubbles and it somehow ended up in the art room where I was. Despite my fear I held it and immediately fell in love. (I realize now that the snake likely shouldn’t have been taken around the school so much but kids were irresponsible when they kidnapped it from the teachers room.) since then I’ve been doing research on snakes, Beardie, and so much more! Hopefully I’ll be financially stable enough after college so that I can own one.
I don't even know how I found this channel, but now it is on my regular rotation. Don't own a reptile and never will. Emily is just an amazing human with a gift for sharing her passion.
tried doing this today! made two bracelets and a set of earrings. super fun, super simple, super cute and cool!! I've never had an impulse to buy construction paper before this, lol. highly recommended!

I'm glad I found it because I was wanting to learn!! Thank you💜💜💜 very sweet of you!!
That's so creative. When I first started keeping reptiles I kept all the sheds. Now, they get tossed, though I always feel kinda guilty doing it. So now I Have a great way to recycle the sheds. Thanks!
“I don’t exactly know if this is a corn snake shed..” “Waiteaiteaitwait,, you had that shed for so long you don’t even remember?” ------------- *brings up a pendant with head shed* “OWAHOWHAMSGSMVDWOAHWOAHSNSNJSBSKDG” ------------- “Just take a paperclip!” “That’s a binder clip.”
That O ring we call a jump ring in the UK also love this idea and going to see if I can get some scales from the local pet store so I can make these as I do a necklace stall and these are awesome!
Thank you for this! New corn snake mom (and new reptile keeper in general) here and of course I want to preserve every special moment with my little guy. I put the first (and perfect!) shed he had under my care into a shadow box and I look forward to future sheds to make these! I appreciate the simple and easy to follow instructions ❤
I usually feed my snake sheds to the thousands of isopods I keep. They chow down....but now they are going to have to leave me some to make some cool jewelry!
That is really awesome! Plus, if anyone believes in spirit animals this could be an incredible way to have your spirit animal or reptile close to you at all times. Not too mention serpents are powerful beings! There is a misconception about snakes being of the "devil" lol. Serpents are actually protectors, and full of positive energy. Emily: you can buy all these things in your local craft store
Me: sooooo I can buy snake shed in my local craft store?
if you don't have a reptile you can alwas ask in a fb group or forum for reptiles if someone can send you some shed; maby for shipping cost or a small sum of money (I did this in a group for bird owners when I needed parrot feathers for a diy project; the lady who sent it to me was super nice and sent me like a whole parrot worth of feathers,I asked for 10 haha XD)
I have TONS of sheds I don't use... so yeah find a local reptile group on fb... I would give them to you if you were local lol
Nah. Gotta go to the pet store or nature for that
I like how detailed you made this video, if somebody copy's you its obvious who was the original because yours will all ways be the best version :)
Me: “This looks so cool! I want one!”
Also me: *doesnt own a snake*
Still me: *goes outside and starts looking for snake skin*
I got hecka lucky cause I found some black racer shed a week after finding this video.
@@copper3184 oh niiiiiiiiice
Where can u find this is at the village xD
You never know, you might get lucky
I went camping and found a snake that was actively shedding so I collected the shed afterward
Me: **getting exited when she says snails**
Emily: No we dont need snails.... >:)
Me: **cries holding my pet snails**
Piggy Player
😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
We did Keyrings like this my little girl loves that she has her snakes face on her school bag !
My snake had his first shed with me today, and it came off very nicely! Got a really good head piece too, so I am definitely going to be trying this out! Thanks for such a clear, easy-to-understand tutorial for how to make these :)
Me:how do I make that?
Her: you need a snake
Me: oh I bought a fish
I have a cheese grater for you 🤗😥🙄
Goldfish is best
Reptile
I’m 100% gonna make one of these for my friend who had to rehome their snake to me, that’s awesome! I’ve ordered all the things for it!
Just a little heads up. The o rings are also called jump rings.
That said... Omgosh this is an amazing idea
Some things I can suggest:
-use a scalpel to cut the shed (and possibly also the paper) to shape, it's easier to be more precise.
-you can paint the background paper with acrylic paints or iridescent nail polish or use a colourful cut-out from a magazine or something to create backgrounds that are shiny, have colour gradients or cool patterns.
Oh cool idea about the iridescent or metallic paint, I was thinking of seeing if this would work with thin jewelry foil.
Thanks for the tips!
Leonetta, did you ever try using thin jewelry foil when crafting these?
OH! OH MY GOD! This would look so cool with thermochromic pigment or liquid crystal on the paper. Like a snake scale mood ring. I need to do that!
You're a genius that's epic
Make a video with it! I would love to see that! I am not as creative as you!
I’ll see if I can get a solid bit of shed from my gecko’s foot for a tiny pendant (if I can catch her before she eats it).
Any luck so far? It's been 2 months.
SpeedDS DemonStar, unfortunately not. She really lives up to her name (Sneaky).
Miah The Seahorse Shapeshifter Siren Hybrid With a lot of geckos, they eat their shed to consume whatever nutrients are in the shed. Not because they’re scared, try and leave the shed in their tank next time they shed, and see if they eat it.
@@sydneysharkk2467 I had to make a whole new google account 😅 So yeah it's me...
do das too fast k try to tey pls
Darn it, I was gonna sleep for once but I guess I’ll just watch this even though I don’t own a reptile.
Same my dude....same❤
I don't even know how I found this channel, but now it is on my regular rotation. Don't own a reptile and never will. Emily is just an amazing human with a gift for sharing her passion.
Your not the only one without a reptile.
tried doing this today! made two bracelets and a set of earrings. super fun, super simple, super cute and cool!! I've never had an impulse to buy construction paper before this, lol. highly recommended!
Emily, you are a woman of many talents! Thank you for sharing your jewelry-making technique. That hognose snake on your table is too cute!
No one:
Me: *doesn’t own a reptile* going herping in the creek that’s only an inch deep in my neighborhood to steel some snakes skin
Taylor N shed*
Steal* but same tho
don't be suspicious don't be suspicious
ewww
I don’t even like touching my snakes skin
One of my friends gave me their dead snakes shed, so I followed this tutorial to make a pendant. Thank you! 😊
I love that you did this!!!!! I saw these for the first time not that long ago at a reptile expo someone was selling them and i thought they were sooo cool!!!!! but wanted to make my own so thank you for this I watch your videos all the time but im only just now seeing this one!!!
Thanks!
That is so totally cool! I am not a reptile person but I love the pendants!
“I don’t exactly know if this is a corn snake shed..”
“Waiteaiteaitwait,, you had that shed for so long you don’t even remember?”
-------------
*brings up a pendant with head shed*
“OWAHOWHAMSGSMVDWOAHWOAHSNSNJSBSKDG”
-------------
“Just take a paperclip!”
“That’s a binder clip.”
Aquarimax Pets you could make your pendants and then give them the parts you cut off! Perfect recycling
Welcome to another episode of "What's in my recommendations?"
XD
XD
Ye
I hope you stick around! Emily and Ed are amazing! I'm sure you'll love them!
Likewise
THE SNAIL!! 😍🥰😍
I LOOOVE this. I currently feed my snake's shed to my isopod colonies but this is pretty damn cool and will definitely be doing this.
I watched this video a long time ago and I’m making necklaces for all my friends! I’ve got two done so far! They all love them
ah my heart when you said the necklace you were wearing was made with Janet's shed just aaaaa u.u rip Janet you were a good licky boy
That is the first I’ve heard of anything like that. Super cool.
I'm DEFINITELY trying this once my corn starts having bigger sheds!
Thanks for sharing this neat idea!!!
