I started watching your videos in 2012. you helped me fix my suzuki Sv650. I have been riding now for almost 5 years. Thanks to you sir. I still watch every single video u upload. Thank You
Something strangely satisfying and relaxing about videos with no music... Getting ideas as I look at the panels. Nice, very nice.
Thank you Brother.. i was just in a "no music" mood when i did the editing... also its good to vary it a little to keep the videos fresh.. You can see what i mean about the shape of those panels, such a classic old school 'Muscle Bike" shape, and the scheme we discussed, i may go with clear coat after all, not totally sure, but we'll chat on the phone in plenty of time.. take care buddy, wont be long, the paint isn't here yet, so maybe next week..?! ill call you buddy... take care.. Del.
Well, there was music on the intro and outro of the video... music to my ears anyway. ;)
I wasn't sold on this project when you unveiled the bike a few weeks ago but you're enthusiasm and attention to detail in incredible. I'm now looking forward to seeing how this will progress too. Some fantastic tips highlighted in this video.
Thanks so much Antony, i know its not to everyone's taste, but its Old School, and thats who i am, so ill make a few choice upgrades, got a few worn out parts to replace, then it'll go to a Dyno shop to be checked and setup, then once i know its all running safe and sound, i can go play and have some fun on it.. Thanks for your kind words buddy.. take care.. Del.
Proper good old Del Boy video! Keep them coming mate, thanks for the content!
Thanks Nathan, good to hear from you mate..
Great video del love these videos after a stress full day love getting home with a cold pint and watching helps me unwind. Seams silly but been suffering with a bit of anxiety lately and just watching this helps me concentrate and and something to focus on thanks for your dedication and keep up the good work
Similar situation with myself pal. I like to chill on a Wednesday with a beer and Delboy on the box.
Thanks buddy, much appreciated,.
Andrew Pugh know what you mean. Sometimes my brain feels like a wobbly pie plate on a broomstick; like you see these circus acts do. A good Delboy video does the trick to stabilize that plate and get you back into focus. Best wishes brother. BTW Delboy, glad to see the Miami Vice paint scheme going. Looks too dated to be cool. Not even Retro can save it.
Thanks buddy, you're very kind, and Miami Vice... that made i laugh... suit jackets and T-shirts, not a good look..lol
Love the XJR an absolute classic bike and I am looking forward to seeing all the videos on its progression. Great work mate...im a big fan of the plastic welding and have used it a few times...GENIUS!!
Thanks Dave, gotta love a classic muscle bike aye... glad the plastic welding works for you.. save a fortune too aye..lol!
I think this is the earliest I've ever been on a video lol. This is a sick bike. I can't wait to see the finished product!
Thanks buddy, much appreciated.
Hi Del , awesome tips on fixing the side panel , I will try this one on my panel , keep up the great work , and ride safe ☺👍👍👍
Delboy, you've made a boring topic REALLY interesting. Again! Great production. Useful skills. Bloody marvellous, as always.
I wish I had just half of your skills (and resources).
More!!
Safe roads.
Keith
Thanks Keith, you're very kind mate, glad you enjoy the videos. Del.
Nice one Del. I'm in Cyprus at the moment and hired a speed boat today which had a 200hp Suzuki outbound engine which flew,,,,, I can only imagine what a bike with that power would be like, awesome 😎 I expect. Take care you two.
Cyprus?... Speed Boating?... did i ever tell you how much i hate you... lol (Only joking buddy), hope you;re having a great holiday,. have a beer for me mate.. Del.
Oh that's what that thin tape is for!! Don't know why we keep it in the bathroom though??!! Must admit, gett'n a little bit giddy over this bike! :o) Good educational stuff! 👍
Great advice as ever Del. Always worth mentioning with the dental floss for people who are just debadging without repainting, is to carefully clean behind the badge first as the edge of the sticky pad can collect fine grit which the floss will drag across the paint.
great attention to detail. thanks for sharing!
XJR1200 stunning looking bike one of my favourite and best looking factory bikes of all time keep up with he good work team 👍
Thanks Kenny, old school muscle bike aye..! timeless shape.
Top work, the plastic welding with the metal to strengthen is a top idea.
Enjoying seeing you make the turbo your own.
Hey Del, great timing with this video as i'm currently painting my bike so i've taken notes from this and your spray can video :)
Glad it can help buddy..
Another great vid del, I love your enthusiasm in every project you never seem to curse or is that all edited out lol.
Hi Oomer, i enjoy any work on a bike, i see no reason to cus or swear, it achieves nothing and makes you look like an impatient fool.... of course in life we all use the odd swear word at the apropriate time and place, but its not right to fill your videos with it, we have a very wide and varied audience including young kids who watch with their Dads.. so we keep it clean and respectful buddy..
Plastic weld video is how I found your channel. I have found it very useful a couple different times. Good stuff!
Well done Del another great video, looking forward to seeing Mackie do his work on this as well Cheers
Im just blown away at how clean overall that bike is for the age. Wouldnt see that here in Ireland
Its rare here too mate, 19 years old, and 15k miles... i think it kinda scared its first owner who had the conversion done, and it spent a lot of its time in his garage...lol
Another well put together video there buddy, turbo will look great all black, you'll be the new ghost rider flying around on that 😜😜, regards Stu
Hi Stu, who doesn't love the Ghost Rider videos.... not forgetting 'Le Prince Noir' back in the 80's..
It's so cool to see your channel grow 👍🏻 good vid once again .
Thanks buddy.. much appreciated.
The panel lug that was broken was spaced away from the back surface so that the outside didn't sink during the injection moulding. Kinda handy in this case as you can just fill it full of more plastic.
Well i didnt know that... and it makes total sense too mate.
This is such a cool bike and loving where your going with it.
Can't wait to see what it looks like 😀 thanks for the vid my brother.....take care
Thank you Ron, good to hear from you Brother... take care. D&P
Look forward to the paint job Del, love all the vids. Great idea using the dental floss, not tried that one before.
Hey Jon, its as old as i am mate, Pro paint guys have always used that or some other kind of thin cord, specially since the advent of weak plastic badges held on with super sticky foam pads... you can use it to get number plates off too, saves you flexing and cracking them..!!

No Del ! You have to fill the tank to the brim so it weighs a ton like when I did my choke cable.😉
Glad my sp hasn't got the pink stripe ...
Great job Del love n Peace brother 👍
Hey Brother Springy, good to hear from you... yeah, its a shame that i had th buy the one PS model that had the worst paintwork... if only it had been the Kenny Roberts Rep.. Ooh yeah..lol And yeah, why do we always fill the tank up right before we need to take it off..Doh.//.lol.
I'm looking forward to seeing what your going to do to the bike Cuz. Enjoyed watching as always. Looks better without the badges lol. Great work hun x
Hey you Cheeky Ratcuz... thanks for jumping in, always good to hear from you, of course, you already know its going to be black (is there any other colour lol) but the finishing touch will be the artwork by Mackie, cant wait to get to that part... take care, and see you in a week or so... all the best Youz... Del.x
Ye see you soon Cuz.. cant wait, we'll have a great time! :-)
Hey Del, Just had a quick question. I just fit a Scorpion slip-on exhaust onto my CBR250 2013 and there is a "Flute pipe" that sits inside the mid pipe but then the mid pipe goes into the exhaust itself so the Flute pipe is sort of nudged inside. But when I was playing around with the exhaust before fitting it, sometimes the Flute pipe would fall slightly out of place and I'm worried that once I fit the Exhaust onto the mid pipe the Flute pipe might have moved. Is this something I should worry about or would it not fit if it was out of place? Cheers.
Cable ties are normally nylon so its likely to be a bit more flexible and resistant to cracking than the original abs fairings which is probably the reason why the fairing breaks before the plastic weld.
Too true Harry..
Look forward to the paint job Del, love all the vids. P.S don't forget to trim those cable tie ends flush on the indicator wiring, don't want you cutting your hands putting the tail piece back on lol!!
G'morning Del, neat trick with the dental floss, I'll remember that one - learn something every day eh?
P. There you are again doing a top notch job, there's no point in doing something half hearted is there, the plastic welding is great , something new for me to learn. I've also just been watching the new Harley launch, all Softails will have a monoshock under the seat, & new font suspension (Showa I think) a choice of 107 or 114 ci engines, Daymaker LED lights & only about 150 quid more, also 31lb lighter, if you go to Harley Davidson UK it's all there. . All the best & hi to PP 🖒😎
Mustn't look at things like that Geoff, it gets me in so much trouble...lol
Wow nice garage !!!!
So glad i found your chanel top guy.
hi del most of my lugs on the panels have been snapped off one as the lug with it and the other one is missing good vid del
Cheers Del loving it so far. To quote someone else. Keep on keeping on!! Rsmf. Alan.
Cheers Alan, much appreciated.
I've got an xjr1200 and id like to make a backrest for my passenger, because I can't buy one. Do you have any tips. I've never made anything like it in my life.
my God he's quick!
[p] Nice job Del . A result with that lug . Sadly i had to go to my nans funeral on wednesday . I wanted to try to see you but due to the Steam fair had to avoid Blanford . But i will be down again in the near future .
Cheers
Pete.
Hi Pete, our deepest sympathies my friend, sorry to hear about your loss, such a special person to loose from your life... yes, the traffic is just daft this time of year, but let us know when you might be back this way again, and we can make a plan, it would be great to meet up... all the very best, D&Px
Hi Del and Penny . Was blessed to have her for a long time at nearly 49 to have a nan still about is well something . My grandad is still about at 86 not in great health but happy with his dog to keep him company . I will be visiting him at some stage as he knows a lot of old school tricks on cars and bikes .

Thats what Penny said xD
Nice Bike Del!
Super Arbeit.
Danke mein Freund
cant help but like the pink leads lol
Hmm, ill respectfully disagree with you on that one buddy... a bit garish for me lol.. ordered a set of black ones today..
Moonfleet41 haha a splash of 80s style with the pink stripe on the tank lol. looking good tho mate
cool....just painted $10 buck horn bars. 2 day dry here humidity
my 1st bike was a Yamaha 550...beautiful blond painted on the tank
Remember to be good del no naked women on the tank or ull be living in ur bus lol great job as always, sets the bar high for us boys who love our bikes :)
P if anyone deserves a new Harley surely it would be you & PP, but seriously I checked thebprives out & they've done really well. Not sure a lot the big chunky headlight but a lot if new kit for a minor increase in price. I will always cherish my HD, as no doubt you do with your beast 🖒😎
What do you use to drain the tank? Need to empty my blackbird tank soon and can't wait for it to get low. Keep up the good work.
Just a length of clear plastic tube buddy, and somewhere to put the fuel as i wouldn't store it in the can..(i bung it in the other bikes or the car), and once the most of it is out, take the tank off, fit the tube onto the fuel tap, and stick it on 'Pri' and the rest will flow out till no more then a tiny residue remains... if you really need it totally empty, then take the cap and tap out all together, swill the tank round the get any last drops to run out (i do this in the garden over the grass), the leave the tank in the garden over night so it dries right out.... Hope that helps matey... good luck. Del.
Like an idiot I always used a big pill box to put the screws in......common sense. Put them back. Brilliant.
Hey Moonfleet41. Nice bike there, and certainly nice tips :)
Regarding those panel lugs, that break of (my VF1100 also has at least one broken of) - do you have any ideas what to do if the knob itself is lost? Mold it? Shape it out of other plastics?
I guess you just have to be a bit inventive if you have lost the post itself.. maybe an old scrap side panel from another bike, that has an intact post... then cut it off and weld it onto yours..?
How old is that bike again ? it looks in bloody good nick from here. As usual, it was a pleasure to watch sir. I hope Penny has been feeling better this week. Roll on the weekend !
Cheers
Hi buddy, it a 98 bike, but done very few miles and been pretty well looked after.. Good to hear from you... sent you an email too..!
I own a 1999 XJR1300SP and want to convert to fat bars but dont know what riser kit I need, advice would be appreciated. Cheers from New Zealand.
Hi mate, this is a link to TEC Bike Parts here in the UK, I know they sell in Oz, so perhaps they can ship to you, I've got one of these kits on a bike I have, they may not be a posh brand, but they're perfectly good quality and great value for money... why not get in touch and see if they can help: www.tecbikeparts.com/products/shop-parts/other-bikes-universal/handlebars-handlebar-levers-other-bikes-universal/
What can you do to avoid the paint blistering from the heat?
Fitted the heat shield over the headers this time..
Hi Del. BMW S1000rr running 525 chains i believe. Mine way over 200 bhp without any chain problems.
Im just going with the DID recommendation, i guess your S1000 is a heck of a lot lighter then a lardy old muscle bike..lol
Moonfleet41
I have a 530 chain taken off of new fireblade if you want it let me know
Was bothered by the big mark on the tank that wasn't being covered by primer. Now realised I have some dirt on my monitor. DOH!
Ha ha, and i thought only i did that kind of thing..lol
素晴らしいメンテナンス動画です。非常に勉強になりました。
あなたの親切なコメントをありがとう、あなたは大歓迎です
Save the issue of plastic weld. Have you tried something called supafix? It's a 2 stage glue and filler powder. It is just the thing for broken plastics. I fixed the headlight mounts on my fz6s2 with the stuff it's well good I would recommend it del. It's only about 10 quid, well worth the money. Look it up there is also an American version that works just as well. It also repairs metal. By the way bruv Nice bike you nutter lol. A turbo 1200 are you insane lol
Ayup Ray, Ive heard of that and still yet to try it, same as SuGru 'i think its called', great for this kind of application... Thanks for your kind words buddy.. but im fine, as long as i keep up the medication..lol
Hi delboy, I’m quite sure that looks like my XJR1200 turbo which I had fitted over 20 years ago. Same blue foot rests, pink plug leads, gold olins, same silver wheels.everything apart from the indicators. I see it’s an old video,do still have it. I was the second owner from new and only had 4000 miles on it. Brought it in Southampton, parkroad motorcycles. Would be interested to know.
I wouldn't know whether it was your bike or not, I guess only you would recognise that, but it was pretty unique in the things you describe, so I guess it could have been! In the dyno test at the end it made far less horses than you claim, so I guess unless someone left the gate open and let a few of them escape, it could have just been wear and tear... but I did have to have a new set of headers made as they cracked in the centre and had been badlt re-welded and the top end was getting a little worn... still a beautiful ol' bike though and happily in the hands of it's new owner.
Good morning Dell and Penny, question over here. Some bikes have stickers on the paint (like the gastank) and over that there is a non collor paint over it to protect the paint and sticker. Now how do i get the sticker off withoubt to paint the whole thing?
Hey Ramon.. Good to hear from you, Ok, thats a tough one to do without having to paint the tank, or at least re-clearcoat it afterwards..
The technique is to use wet paper on a block and 'block sand' down the clearcoat over the sticker.. then once it's exposed, take a sharp blade, and you can usually lift it and peal it clear.. if you can do that, and you didn't do any other damage to the paint with the paper.. then often you can cut back any roughness with some 1200 grit paper, and polish... and if you're really lucky, you can make a good job of removing it.. but most of the time you may need to repaint it afterwards....
Good luck with it Ramon, i hope it works out..! take care, Del.
Thx buddy! I think i will go to paint the whole tank. My bike have been in many places in Europe and from every country there is a sticker of it on the whole tank. I think i wil try to do the 1200 grit first like you show on the video and hope for the best. Love youre vids m8 drive safe and drink lots of tea ;) Greetings from The Netherlands
Maybe superglue would be a fast an clean solution for the crack?
Sadly not buddy, tried that lots of time, breaks right off again.
Oh that bike gives me the horn 🙊😎
(P) nice work. I'm looking forward to seeing what color you go with!
Hey buddy, i think you'll like it, its going to be a classic old school look and hopefully work with the shape and retro style of the bike..
Nicely done Del, are you doing the top coat yourself? looking forward to see it get done.
Hey buddy, we've got a little collaboration coming for that one, im gonna get the base coat ready, then my buddy who is an airbrush and pin-lining artist will be coming over to lay down some wicked detail, and we'll possibly clear coat it, maybe not, it depends when we come up with... thanks for your support.. Del.
Sounds good mate, might be worth looking to see if you can play with the clear if you do it. I would not be surprised if you can get many different types these day's, like Matte or Satin and more. or even a mix.
Hey dellboy, when are you doing the chain and sprocket conversion as its something I'm looking at doing myself. Many thanks, Geoff
Not long Geoff, parts arrived today, and will get to it soon as i can, thanks buddy.
Moonfleet41 thats brill pal. I know theres alot of info on the internet regarding the conversation but i find it hard to trust some of the numpties online lol p.s loving the streetfighter! Lol all the best to you and penny
tbarklah 3like khoya kmele
I did not catch your earlier episodes on this, but is that turbo factory or a custom mod? I owned a Seca turbo some years back and thought that was the only factory installed turbo model Yamaha produced.
Hi Del. Have you encountered 'Sticky Stuff Remover' ? It is great stuff and works very quickly and smells of oranges. Also, would it be worth have a layer of something metallic to stop the paint blistering in the future? Just a thought. Cheers mate. Regards to Penny.
Hey Richard.. yeah there are lots of sticky stuff removing products now.. even WD40 works ok.. but the slightest thing oil based on this job would trash the paint job.. so thinners was just a safe bet... The new pipes have that heat shield now, and i can almost hold my hand in front of it and its no problem.. so it'll be fine form now on a recon..! take care buddy,, Del.
Wait till Penny's out... Borrow the hair dryer! :)
(P) A good start, you should just spray it all yellow & be done with it 😀
First from South Africa thanx keep up the great work
My homeland.. Welkom my broer
lol danki
Great video.....oh not sure if you heard but rumour has it Harley is stopping production with the Dyna ...dumb !
Hi buddy, I've seen the line up, took a close look at the all when I heard the news, they haven't so much stopped production of the Dyna as just modified the back ends in to the new style softail, and the same can be said also for the softail! That's not the traditional set up either...!! This new top mounted shock is clearly a move to eliminate the two formats and amalgamated them in to one manufacturing platform, certainly a good move for build costs and tooling, but it may take a while before the purists get used to it, because Dynas and Softails have their loyal people... hope it doesn't cost them to many sales... not sure about the 107 engine either, a few people saying they are a bit flaccid, next to the 110 and OMG what the hell have they done to the fuel tanks?? The shape of the big twin fuel tank was designed in 1936 and they seem to have just abandoned it overnight - I think that's a bad a move as the Deuce & the Rocker... but we will find out and bless those headlights on the FatBob, looks like a space age toaster...! At least one thing, it makes me stop hankering after a new Harley (like I could afford one anyway lol !)...
Good informative vid
why would anybody want to put a turbo on an xjr
they have bags of oomph as it is
i know ive owned one for 19 years and 62,000 miles
"artwork" no skulls hopefully !! ; ) man if I see another skull on a bike !! hahaha your bike your choice just kidding.
No skulls, i promise, lol.
the mudguard needs a heat sink
It's got one, now :)
Heey Del. If you ever going to sell that bike I would love to chat with you. Seriously..... ;)
All bikes get sold some day... the problem will be the price.. im spending a lot of money on it, and its gonna be a long way from what a regular XJR would cost mate.lol I'll let you know if you like though buddy.. drop me an email and ill keep a note of it..no problem.. though.. Del.
Hiya guys
Saw some guy slagging you off on youtube about some oil or what not
Jeezus h really pist me off what a dick
Keep up the good work guys
Yeah we know mate, been at it for a few weeks, school holidays i guess..!!! Thanks for your kind support and good to hear from you buddy,, take care.. Del.
