    Love the speed of the new videos - nice cuts etc - Everything moves so quickly! I was doing a headlight replacement on my scrambler the other day in my workshop and the old videos were too quick for me :-) I had to keep pausing while I caught up with you! But for actually just sitting down in front of the computer and watching videos, the speed now is much better. I was skipping 10 seconds at a time before and now I wouldn't think to skip a second :-)

    Good morning D and P 🤗
    I couldn't work out why you would replace the Ohlins shocks but now I get it, thanks for explaining Del.
    Lovely camera work there Pen, I loved the shot of Del working the socket wrench on that bolt whilst holding the nut in place with the spanner.....I'm a simple man me.
    Can't wait to see the turbo on a ride out video!!!
    Take care,

    Hi Del, I like the new shocks. I don't think my license would last long with that bike, front wheel up in the air all the way lol. Hope Penny is feeling better Cheers

    Love these simple videos Del. Really makes me want to get another "fixer upper" just to get my hands dirty again. Really looking forward to the chain & sprocket video even though I've already seen you do one. I have to say (and please don't respond to my feelings here because of the juvenile backlash) that I'm really quite upset and mystified at the vile comments and certain other opinions aimed at you I'm seeing recently. I don't want to start anything so I'll just say that I hope for every sad individual that feels they have to be this way toward you that the ratio of people that respect you and are so grateful that you have helped like myself makes up for it. My best wishes as always for you Del and Penny.

      Hi Tor, great to hear from you again, Thank you so much for your kind support with that comment, messages like this are flooding in now as people are starting to see it... if anything it has prompted a huge wave of support and encouragement from those who appreciate what we do. There will always be haters on social media Tor, their reasons are many, but always routed in themselves, we're just 'business as usual and keeping it where we always have.... Chain and sprockets coming shortly, i started the paint this weekend. the chain and sprockets are here now, so thats pretty much the next mechanical task... take care my friend, and thank you for keeping in touch.. all the best.. I would love to see you talk about Torque settings. Do you have a general guideline you use for those situations when you can't find the user manual?

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  7 років тому

      Hi Matt, i have to be honest i just look up the torque setting before i tackle a job, and go with whats in the manual.... From time to time you'll see the same torque value crop up again and again so you can start to build up a knowledge, but that doesn't pay to rely on too much... as not all bikes are the same... the rear wheel nut on a Bonneville for instance, 85Nm, and the Speedmaster is 110Nm.. so it doesn't pay to guess unless you are sure because you've done it lots of times before...

    Hey buddy .I see why you got those the easy access to the adjustments are very neat...
    I got to playing with my hagon nitro s and found a comfy place for solo and dual with all the wardrobes bolted on ..
    So thanks for your advice it got me to experiment and realise the hagon shocks are bloody good as you said ...it would appear from the forums on the xjr that those ohlins are just fine but everybody wants to change them ..nuff said..👍
    I'm doing feet on ground stuff at present as I've managed to loose balance due to ear and sinus infection.... happy holidays springy that's just typical for me...🤗

    Nice shocks buddy, I used to have a 450bhp cosworth, that had a massive Garrett turbo and had a bleed valve, it made some terrific noises, cost a fortune to run tho 😆, nice to here Pen's back, regards Stu 🤓🤘🔧

    Morning del and penny! .... enjoying the side project with interest as I've never seen a bike with a turbo on in detail so learning new stuff... are the swing arm and rear tyre still standard factory setting/parts or uprated due to the power increase?... like drag racing bikes?

  • @kamsmag

    The main issue with XJR 1300 suspension is the front fork. That's what most people replace first if they want better suspension on an XJR. Intresting to see that you decided to replace the rear. Are you planning to replace the front end? Some go with upside downs from R1 or from FZR1000 which is a straight swap without any modification.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  7 років тому

      Hi Kamil.. i have some Gixer K5 forks in some cool billet yokes that ive been looking for somewhere to use... they have radial caliper mounts and ive got some K6 calipers for them too...but they'll need some modifying to fit, maybe a future project if i feel the bike needs them... they'll certainly smarten up the handling a lot..!

    Would you recommend these YSS shocks for a triumph speed twin? Also, I was wondering if there is also a cartridge kit that you would recommend for the bike. I looked at bitubo jbh 12, Andrea I misano, ohlins... Or maybe there is something else that you would recommend?

      Hi Petros, we have used these same shocks on my wife's Triumph Scrambler... they are perfect, a massive improvement over the factory shocks, and totally transformed the ride... not sure about the forks as we still have the factory forks and she is happy with them..

    Morning, Delboy and mrs. The blow off valve helps faster spool up of the impeller too. That machine looks brutal, have you given it a fist full yet? I would love to have one of those to terrorise people with. I'm doing a '95 GSXR 750 WS, fighter; might do some vids, you have inspired me to get out the 'box of doom' and rummage for installable bits to show the world! Every self-respecting bike hack has a 'box of doom', sat in the corner.

      Hey buddy, good to hear from you. not given it a wringing yet, like i said, still just going through everything to make sure its all safe, and found the dump valve seized slightly open venting pressure all the time.. so once its all at least operating correctly, ill have the guys at Moorespeed run it up on the dyno to get an accurate mixture check... then its time to go play. Good luck with oyur fighter build, yeah why not do a few videos share it with the world, there aint enough streetfighters about any more.. :-)

      HI sorry to cut in , I have hagon nitro on my xjr1300 that many put on the gsx1400
      They are way better according to the forums..the preload is very stiff on mine I have them backed right off for comfy cruising...and the damping adjustment is great.. I have found a sweet spot for solo riding and another for two up plus luggage...and they're stainless steel so keep their looks...obviously it's all a personal taste ...i was after putting ohlins back on but after some encouraging words from Del Boy 're the hagons
      I've experimented and realised how good they are..Cheers ..

    I still think you should strike up that engine to make sure the shocks are set correctly. Ok I admit it, I just want to hear that beast growl. Great vid as ever, always wondered what that 'sheekish' noise was when a turbo blazed by and changed gear.

  • @JamesMcCreadie71

    Aren't those bikes lovely to work on, so simple compared to now.
    I have a wee question Del, my Daytona T595 throttle tube is worn and stepping forward, its not done on the road but am worried, can I use a universal tube or from another model, second hand tubes are £20! Don't want to pay that, it might be just as worn. Shouldn't be but people will say and sell anything, thanks Del.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  7 років тому

      Hi James i assume you mean the throttle twist grip tube on the bars?... what exactly do you mean "Stepping Forward" mate..? they dont usually wear out or go wrong.?

    • @JamesMcCreadie71
      @JamesMcCreadie71 7 років тому

      I, it's the twist grip tube. It's worn alright, there a stop on the metal clamp the plastic tube goes into, that stop has a channel for the cable, the channel has gnawed right through the plastic so there's very little left to stop the throttle going forward when you shut the throttle down, it just goes right over the metal stop, both the local bike shops were on bank holiday so that was a pest, it jammed on briefly going to work this evening, only briefly but still scary, the bike was going forward and I didn't want to, especially as there was a car there. Anyway I'm not sure I want an oem twist grip if that's their outcome, plus they're £20 for a used one, someone mentioned that the R6 grip fitted but no idea.

    • @JamesMcCreadie71
      @JamesMcCreadie71 7 років тому

      I may have a Bandit 1200 one I could mod, just a little nervous or safety conscience when it comes to a jammed throttle on a measly 130 bhp bike.

    • @JamesMcCreadie71
      @JamesMcCreadie71 7 років тому

      Hi Del, I've joined the facebook page Triumph Daytona T595/955i. There's a gent on there sending me a speed triple twist grip, I'll just have to patient but don't want to take risks with the throttle.

    • @JamesMcCreadie71
      @JamesMcCreadie71 7 років тому

      Hey Del, right or wrong but got my old spare soldering iron, some old bits of cable ties and built up the wear on the throttle twist grip tube and then reshaped it to the correct shape, the new twist grip doesn't come till Friday. It worked a treat, I've done 50-60 miles, no bother.
      I learnt that from yourself, thanks.

      True dat Geoff... it seems the sky is the milit on suspension stuff, ive seen some shocks that cost more then a small commuter bike... but these are a great mid range option, and this is the 3rd set ive used, they are more than up to a bike like this, and will make huge improvements across the handling range.. YSS better than any mileage Ohlins. No. I struggled with the Evans video critism, now I know that you are full of.

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  7 років тому +4

      Of course YSS aren't a patch on Ohlins, i said that, but this model of Ohlins shocks are just dire mate.. you can't even buy them from Ohlins, they do'nt appear on any range list, and the only place you can buy them is special order from the Yamaha dealer, The point is that these YSS are the top of their range, and THESE Ohlins are not even the bottom of the range, they are lower then that.. made purely to promote the link up between Ohlins and Yamaha..! many people describe them as a bit of a con and just 'badge engineered'..!

  • @akirasanakirasan5347
    @akirasanakirasan5347 6 років тому

    The Yamaha Ohlins are still Ohlins same seals etc.
    All I did was re-gas and seal them and get a pair of genuine Ohlins stiffer srpings for £50.
    Does anyone ride on the road and constantly adjust their suspension???
    Handles fantastic welcome to try it for yourself.
    As for YSS i have a mono on my TDM 850 and its been great 2 years and no signs of corrosion or leaks totally recommended product.
    No need to spend £500 - 1500 on huge brand names unless you race or are a poseur

    • @Moonfleet41
      @Moonfleet41  6 років тому

      Totally agree mate, I think the G-Series YSS are a little over priced for what they are, but price to one side, they are re-bound and compression adjustable, which the factory Ohlins aren't, and I agree, we can always re-furbish a shock and make it better and it's a great way to save money!
