Ah man, you have such a journey still you'll love it! Also, to explain the significance of John c Riley's nova corp character and the wife and daughter. When the Necro whatever's started crashing into the nova surface, one ship was about to directly hit his wife and daughter. The woman who held her child to protect her when a ravager ship came in and blew it up before it hit the surface. A little later John c Riley's character says to starlord "my wife and daughter wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you." And at the end that's where they hugged. I can't wait to see more man! Been loving your dive into the mcu for the first time. I laughed when you said that winter soldier was your fave, because. MY MAN!!! It get better to the point, especially the way your binging them. Your gonna feel crazy by the end 😂
Excellent reaction! Guardians was unlike anything else I had seen before. A space movie with late 70s/early 80's soft rock soundtrack? Brilliant. Can't wait for you to watch Age of Ultron and REALLy can't wait for you to meet the badassery that is Wanda ✨
A couple fun tidbits about this movie: 1. In the scene with The Collector, Chris Pratt accidentally dropped the orb but they decided to use that shot cuz it was funny. 2. James Gunn hid secret messages within all the location text in this movie and it has yet to be completely solved (Gunn confirmed New Rockstars decoded about 3/4 of it). 3. Drax (the character with the dead wife and daughter) is played by former WWE wrestler Batista, Gamora (the green girl) is played by Zoe Saldana who was well known for being the alien girl from Avatar so there’s a bit of a theme going on there 😅 Rocket is voiced by Bradley Cooper and nonhumans not knowing that he’s a raccoon and his obsession with prosthetics are running gags so look out for them. Finally, Groot was voiced by Vin Diesel, which is just funny in and of itself Hehehe I love the “ahh unagi” reference. To that I say “aaahh salmon spring roll” Only Marvel can make a talking CGI tree saying “we are Groot” emotional and touching
My BFF says that I am Rocket (I've had so many surgeries and wounds that my torso is hard to look at and I'm good in a fight), my husband is Groot (a giant full of emotions), and out son is Drax (crazy strong, gleefully inappropriate, and is extremely literal). I am fine with that assessment.
I wonder if Alex even knew that Groot was voiced by Vin Diesel, Rocket was voiced by Bradley Cooper, and that Drax the Destroyer was Dave Bautista from the WWE. He seemed oblivious to these facts.
The Duck dude at the end is from the bad movie "Howard the Duck." The main bad guy was the main character from a weird TV series called "Pushing Daisies," The blue dude was in "The Walking Dead"
The significance of the Nova officer's wife and daughter at the end is that during the Ronan attack, they were on the bridge and were saved from a falling/attacking ship by Rocket (at 27:29)
Next to Winter Solider this is my favorite Marvel movie. I knew nothing of these characters and was hooked from the time he got on the planet and started dancing. Never underestimate a fantastic sound track.
The MCU is pretty awesome that way. After the second Thor, I'm pretty sure every movie builds and seems better than the last, until the Infinity War/Endgame capstone. It's the reason Endgame topped the charts. Stan Lee's Magnum Opus.
You literally just made my 4th, by reacting to this movie and so happy you enjoyed. The Guardians movies are so much fun and heartfelt. Everytime I see that mouthful of pearly whites of yours, I know you’re enjoying yourself. Happy 4th buddy!!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault -You’re very welcome and thank you. So excited looking forward to your next Marvel movie. All reactions in between too of course. Lol
I purchased the soundtrack when it came out. Every track a classic and many memories growing up to them with my parents. When my son was born, I would play it for him constantly. Just recently, my Mother passed from cancer. The opening scene hits close to home more than ever before, except I held my Mothers hand every moment I could.
Michael Rooker who plays Yondu has been in pretty much every James Gunn movie, there is joke that Gunn just makes movies to give Rooker work. The end credit scene was just more Gaurdians content. The dog Cosmo is part of one of the Gaurdians teams in the comics. And also Howard the Duck is one of Marvel's comic characters.
The pink lady and daughter at the end were the ones Rocket saved on the bridge in the end fight when they were running from the battle. Also... The space dog in the movie at the end is named Cosmo and he's actually really powerful and has a russian accent haha. He's a good character and the BESTEST boy!
The soundtracks to this movie and the second are the perfect song choices. What I love is this team hasn't had much of a history in the comics. To make it a movie was the right choice for the studio. The casting of these characters was done perfectly. Got to set up a sequel. That duck was Howard the Duck.
My son's bday is May 5th. Guardian movies (and other Marvel movies) always release that week. We go to the imax yearly. Guardians is our fave (but Cap is still our fave hero)
I had a really crappy day. Your reaction made it a little better. So thank you for that. You've got some wonderful movie experiences still ahead of you. I hope you'll consider some two-part reactions for some of the bigger ones, because it's hard to fit all the good stuff into about 30 minutes.
I was hesitant at first when this movie came out, but I loved James Gunns other movies so I was like "if anyone can take on such a ridiculous group of characters it'd be him" and of course he did succeed the Guardians movies are great, controversially I might actually like the 2nd one even more.
One of my favorite parts of this time of the MCU was wondering/imagining how the intergalactic scene and tone of the guardians was going to intersect with the earthbound MCU "universe." Lots of cool stuff ahead!
Thanks for your reaction, even though I have seen all these movies multiple times over the years I am looking forward to each of your reactions, to revisit them again 🙂
I knew you'd love this one, Alex. Someone may have already done so, but I'll tell you about the last two characters you met. Cosmo the dog was part of the Guardians in the books, and the Duck is named Howard. He also has his own books, which are patently weird, and his own movie which is cheesy as all heck and profoundly strange, but really is a good time. Happy Independence Day all! Be careful not to blow yourselves up. Let's get through this one with all of our digits, shall we?
This movie was such an unexpected surprise, especially for people like me that really didn't know much about it before seeing it, one of the better MCU movies.
The duck at the end was Howard The Duck. The very first live-action film by Marvel was about him, way back in the 80s. The dog is named Cosmo. He, along with Howard, are old Marvel comics characters. Also, the significance of the pink lady and child are that there was a brief scene of them being saved by Peter flying by in his ship, shooting the enemy ship that was targeting the 2 civilians. The husband even mentioned to Peter that he owed him for saving his family.
Guardians sets up so much of what is to come in the MCU. You’re in for a real treat when it comes to where some of these characters eventually end up(and probably not the characters you might expect).
The duck in the end credit was Howard the duck. There's a movie from like the 80s or 90s me and my sister used to watch as kids even though it's not really for kids lol he's a marvel character. I 🖤 baby groot and rocket they r my faves from guardians of the galaxy
Can’t remember if I commented about this. Great movie. Even better, the title refers to the antagonist, yes. But ‘Winter Soldier’ also refers to Vietnam-era hearings where the soldiers who testified did so as Patriots who stay loyal to the Flag & Constitution not just when it’s easy, but also when it’s hard. In that light, Cap himself is the Winter Soldier. I love that.
You're spot on with marvel taking a risk on g.o.t.g. they weren't popular comics but marvel knocked it out of the park with them. Now we have stuff going on with the avengers on earth and across the galaxy and we start to see Thanos more. This one also gives us more info on the infinity stones as well. Love the reaction man! Happy 4th!
I remember when I first saw the movie I thought about how I was worried that they were introducing characters not a lot of people know, so I was skeptical of how it would turn out. After the movie though, I was Star struck. I thought to myself everyone is going to love this movie. Especially fans that don’t know much of the comics and what not like myself. This movie remains to be one of my all time re-watched and favorited.
34:20 - Earlier, the father guy said he has a wife and daughter who are alive because of the Guardians; I think they're actually showing us the wife and daughter to show more of that happy ending; no real significance beyond that 34:55 - The Groot dancing tree was actually the director James Gunn dancing and they modelled the dancing off him - he actually performed the dance... so fun :) 35:35 - That's Howard the Duck from the comics.... they added him in for the comic fans I think But yeh, this one is probably my second favourite MCU movie beside Winter Soldier. Just a good, fun movie :)
The talking duck at the end is Howard the Duck. He is a character from the comics. He has his own (really bad) movie from 1986. It's just a funny cameo.
Ain't it amazing how you get introduced to some new and pretty quirky characters that seem like they're a B-level heroes, yet it's so funny, heartwarming and it just works! (cue Todd howard memes)
The final post-credit scene features Howard the Duck, an obscure Marvel character from the 1970s who has a cult following. In the mid-80s, there was an historically awful Howard the Duck movie, so this is a re-introduction to the character and a seriously deep cut easter egg.
The significance at 34:26 is that the guardians saved his family, as her wife and kid where the one that were going to die in the suicide attack of the first necrocraft pilot at 27:28
Loving the series man! You’ll be caught up to the rest of us before you know it. Btw, when you get to the Disney+ shows, just keep doing what you’re doing and watch them along with the movies in release order.
My wife is a schoolteacher, and since I grew up with the comic books, I knew how Guardians was a bit of a risk for Marvel, but I was excited that it could become their “Star Wars” and open up the intergalactic side of the MCU. I showed her some clips of the “raccoon and his talking tree” and told her “If this movie ends up being as good as I hope, every kid in your class is going to know who these two are!” I remember pointing out Rocket and Groot Halloween costumes and smiling with her. ☮️💜🎶
Basically what you need to understand is, this was "The Moment" that the MCU revealed what it's plan was. In the begining, Joss Whedon basically told Marvel, "Here's what you need." He sold them on the idea of doing 5 or 6 movies to show off different characters first. THEN, they made the Avengers film. The infinity stones were first teased in Thor, with the Tesseract. At that point, everyone thought it was JUST, a fun Easter egg for the comic book fans. Then Thantos was revealed at the end of Avengers, and no one believed it. THIS, was the first film that actively told fans, "NO SERIOUSLY. WE'RE GOING THERE." The guardians of the Galaxy, was a comic that was waaaaay less popular even among comic book fans. But that's why Joss chose this film to be made. It set up perfectly, as a kind of bus to both explain the larger universe at large, as well as explain the dangers (And this a looming Future) of what was to come. OFFICIALLY, Thantos & the Infinity War saga was the end of a massive comic run. And afterwards, Marvel sid a kind of reboot of course. If you want to follow the plot accurately, the next film you should watch should be either Thor: The Dark World, or Iron Man 3. As both deal with aftermath of what's happening on Earth post NY invasion.
I have rewatched this movie far more times than any other MCU movie. Second on the list would be Ragnarok. Chris Pratt carries so much weight on this movie himself. Hilarious!
There’s a new type of studio developed by ILM (Industrial Light And Magic) called “The Volume”. It’s allowing shots they never before thought possible.
The final scene is with the Collector. He appears to have Laika, the first dog in space from Earth who was in a cage/box. Behind him Howard the Duck is sat, also escaping from a box

@@andypickle1584 Rooker was so good in Days Of Thunder
Michael Rooker, who plays Yondu, has been in a bunch of stuff. I know he was in The Walking Dead, but I recognized him from Mallrats. The arrow thing is a version of his weapon in the comics, where he had a bow and arrow and could control the arrows by whistling. But here they got rid of the bow and just used the arrows
Would you like a chocolate covered pretzel? 🤣
He's also great fun in _Guardians_ director James Gunn's DC adventure, _The Suicide Squad._ (NO SPOILERS PLEASE.) I'm sure I'm not alone in recommending that movie as a very brief detour from the MCU; it's not necessary to watch 2016's _Suicide Squad_ first.
I recognized him from an episode of Stargate SG1
He's one of a handful of actors and actresses who seem to keep popping up in whatever I'm watching lol.
I subscribed to your channel about four days ago and love your enthusiasm and energy. It's a big plus to me that you're not afraid to "use bad words" -- you speak and think the way I do so I relate bigtime. Gotta thank you for being you. It's been very enjoyable so far -- keep it up!
Welcome to the channel Michael! Stoked you’re here brother!
"Phase 2 is almost over. Where the hellbdid all the time go?"
Trust me... as someone who has seen every marvel movie excluding black widow, eternals, and the hulk movies in theaters... I think to myself... there's no fuckin way iron man came out 14 years ago...
Also the "big ass dude" (Dave Bautista) is Drax the Destroyer. Which is also the name of my pug lol
Fucking crazy!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault Look up some of Dave Bautista's MMA fights. Dude is impressive :)
I lost it when you said "aaaa Unagi". Another Friends fan, I love it!
One of my favorite MCU movies, hands down. The chemistry of the guardians as a group is unmatched. Not too sure if you're big into video games, but the Guardians of the Galaxy game is absolutely phenomenal as well. Hilarious, tear jerking, and fun to play. I've never played a game with so much dialogue before in my life, but the guardians seriously *do not shut up* and I love it so much. They handled it with care.
I'm from Corpus Christi, TX and I really appreciated you paying homage to Selena with the T-shirt... peace ✌️🕊️✌️
much love Joe!

Fuck I can’t wait!!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault I'm so excited to see you watch them!! lol
I just want to watch them all right now!!!!
Excellent reaction! Guardians was unlike anything else I had seen before. A space movie with late 70s/early 80's soft rock soundtrack? Brilliant. Can't wait for you to watch Age of Ultron and REALLy can't wait for you to meet the badassery that is Wanda ✨
Thanks Scott! Super stoked you stopped by to check out the video!
Finally, Groot was voiced by Vin Diesel, which is just funny in and of itself
Hehehe I love the “ahh unagi” reference. To that I say “aaahh salmon spring roll”
Only Marvel can make a talking CGI tree saying “we are Groot” emotional and touching
Love this movie! Chris Pratt is actually from my home town. Virginia, Minnesota 🙌🏻
that's so cool!
Even though after you made it this far you’re still not half way you still got a long way to go but a long journey of fun and I’m excited!
I love watching these movies with you dude! I don't get out much and it's a lot of fun watching someone else experience all the joy.
that's so cool love you!
Man I’m so glad you’re doing these reactions!! You’re the shit dude!
I appreciate the love and support! ❤️
I wonder if Alex even knew that Groot was voiced by Vin Diesel, Rocket was voiced by Bradley Cooper, and that Drax the Destroyer was Dave Bautista from the WWE. He seemed oblivious to these facts.
@Latest Obsession Clarity is a necessity with people suffering from OCD.
@Latest Obsession Your right... my family suffers while I live with it.
The pink lady and her daughter were saved by Rocket on the bridge during the attack on the city. She is married to John C. Reilly's character.
The Duck dude at the end is from the bad movie "Howard the Duck." The main bad guy was the main character from a weird TV series called "Pushing Daisies," The blue dude was in "The Walking Dead"
The Ronin actor also played in the Hobbit as the King of the Woodland elves.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time!
Also when you said "Do we care if this blue dude (Yondu) dies?" ....yes. 😭
it's very good!
"Where's his dad?!" Oh, boy, you'll find out. *Evil laugh* you'll find out!!
Is it Darth Vader? 😄
The significance of the Nova officer's wife and daughter at the end is that during the Ronan attack, they were on the bridge and were saved from a falling/attacking ship by Rocket (at 27:29)
there was a movie that was in the '80s called Howard the duck, look that up and you might understand the ending after credits scene
gotchu thanks for that!
Next to Winter Solider this is my favorite Marvel movie. I knew nothing of these characters and was hooked from the time he got on the planet and started dancing. Never underestimate a fantastic sound track.
You eating while talking, scratching your nose and Groot in the back round saying I'm Groot, was one of the funniest thing I have ever seen 🤣🤣🤣
Howard the duck and the dog is known as cosmo was the end credit thing. They're awesome and a long story.
this soundtrack holds so many memories for me, def. brings a tear to my eye. its already been so long ago...
Happy 4th right back at ya! Thanks for stopping by! ❤️🤘🏼
I hope you'll consider some two-part reactions for some of the bigger ones, because it's hard to fit all the good stuff into about 30 minutes.
understood thanks for that! hope you've been better David
I was hesitant at first when this movie came out, but I loved James Gunns other movies so I was like "if anyone can take on such a ridiculous group of characters it'd be him" and of course he did succeed the Guardians movies are great, controversially I might actually like the 2nd one even more.
2nd post-credit thing featured the character Howard The Duck, which was also the name of an 80's movie starring Leah Thompson.
One of my favorite parts of this time of the MCU was wondering/imagining how the intergalactic scene and tone of the guardians was going to intersect with the earthbound MCU "universe." Lots of cool stuff ahead!
Really looking forward to The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special this December.
Thanks for your reaction, even though I have seen all these movies multiple times over the years I am looking forward to each of your reactions, to revisit them again 🙂
keep watching haha
Ι really really love the Guardians of the Galaxy... The most entairtening MCU movie in every aspect
it's very good!
"Do we really care if that blue guy dies?" Yes. Yes, we do.
I had no idea about Howard! So happy you’re getting enjoyment out of these videos!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault I certainly am.
Wyatt Oleff(Young Peter Quill) plays Stanley Uris in IT Chapter One and Young Stan in IT Chapter Two.
GALAXY QUEST would be a groove.
"My Cousin Vinny" is a MUST for you!!
Whenever Thanos defeats a planet, he kills half the population and adopts an orphan.
Fun Fact John C Reiley Came to my local theater in Michigan when the movie opened. It was pretty neat.
You just make me smile, thanks for sharing your MCU journey ❤️❤️❤️
34:20 - Earlier, the father guy said he has a wife and daughter who are alive because of the Guardians; I think they're actually showing us the wife and daughter to show more of that happy ending; no real significance beyond that
34:55 - The Groot dancing tree was actually the director James Gunn dancing and they modelled the dancing off him - he actually performed the dance... so fun :)
35:35 - That's Howard the Duck from the comics.... they added him in for the comic fans I think
But yeh, this one is probably my second favourite MCU movie beside Winter Soldier. Just a good, fun movie :)
That metal Mohawk thing on Yondus head is what allows him to control that arrow when he whistles
"Do we care too much if that blue dude dies" LMFAO
When Peter dropped the orb, he just went with it, it was an accident. And they left it in.
The talking duck at the end is Howard the Duck. He is a character from the comics. He has his own (really bad) movie from 1986. It's just a funny cameo.
I’ll be honest in that I’d never heard of GOTG before it came out in the cinema and I thought it was gonna blow and it blew my mind
it's good!
Some more trivia: Howard The Duck in Guardians of the Galaxy was voiced by Seth Green
This is my favorite Marvel movie. So much heart and risk. The cast is unbelievable.
The significance at 34:26 is that the guardians saved his family, as her wife and kid where the one that were going to die in the suicide attack of the first necrocraft pilot at 27:28
also that was howard the duck at the very end
I like the way you used FRIENDS.
thank you!
The duck at the very end was Howard the Duck which was an old school marvel comic/tv series or movie
Enjoyed most Marvel films first time...even more fun watching again here.
thank you for tuning in!
Watching this now after watching GOTG 3…. Man do Rocket’s lines hit different
Yeah, I don't watch many Superhero films, but I caught on to the the great humor & story in the Guardian films. Excellent cinematography too.
"Aahh, unagi!" - i LOVED that reference! :D
i'll try to use it more often
"You said it yourself, b*tch!!!! We're the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY."
- Peter Quill/Star-Lord
The taking duck in the endcredit scene was Howard the duck, its from i think one of the oldest marvel movies of the same name, worth a watch
The Kansas song Nobody’s Home - if that was used when Quill landed for the power stone, the silliness would disappear and change the complete vibe.
It’s crazy watching this after watching GOTG3. I can’t wait for that reaction
the cut at 34 minutes is hilarious "is it just another mix tape" too screaming the song out
The final scene is with the Collector. He appears to have Laika, the first dog in space from Earth who was in a cage/box. Behind him Howard the Duck is sat, also escaping from a box
the last character at the final bonus scene is known as howard the duck :) have fun looking that film up alex
This one is my absolute favorite due to the combo of visuals + soundtrack + comedy 💕
Also, the sequel is just as good, if not better!
The Collector: "Albert Einstein with Lady Gaga mix".
Gamora: "Spinach woman".
I can't unsee it now. :D
