I loved how the whole series Rocket was denying he was a raccoon. When he said that line "The name's Rocket, Rocket Raccoon" the entire theater cheered.
Understanding Groot means that we are part of the family now. I saw this opening day in the theaters, and cried so hard. They teased most of them dying, and no one did. It was still an emotional rollercoaster.
This movie made me cry so damn much, and honestly it got to the point where just stuff like Groot saying “I love you guys” or Rocket playing Come Get Your Love in the midcredit scene made me sob even more because I was so damn emotional at everything lmao. I legitimately don’t think I’ve ever cried at a movie as much as I cried watching this for the first time, and I don’t think I will ever cry as much as this again
Same 100%. I was a freaking baby. In theaters, I was with my girlfriend so I never let myself cry. When I watched it the second time, I ugly cried so bad lol. I will never stop talking about this movie. It's such an amazing wrap to the trilogy.
@@timothybrown5999I feel like it’s not as good the second time honestly & is less affective. That have about 100 near death fake outs that they affect you when you first see it because you think they might actually die but then the second time it’s just like “why are you doing this Gunn? 1 is enough. But these are too many fake outs for one film that it’s kinda pointless if no one actually gets killed off” so the fake outs became quite annoying & felt cheap to get a reaction out of us (the audience)
I feel like Rocket refused to get close to anyone because he was afraid that if he loved anyone he'd lose them like he did Lilah, Floor and Teefs. He eventually loved Groot and he lost him too but grew to love new Groot and the Guardians, only to lose them all in the snap save for Nebula. I think once they came back he decided he wasnt gonna hide from that love anymore and the actions in this film really solidified that and brought him full circle.
A thing that people dont realize is that when they say "if peter didnt hit thanos none of it would have happened", like you said, it's not really true. Dr. Strange looked at over 14 million scenarios. For the only scenario to play out where they win, quill had to hit thanos and everything had to happen exactly like it did. There's probably a scenario where he didn't hit thanos, and thanos just got the glove from them again eventually anyways
I always found it weird that everyone singled out that one moment. Many things that happened throughout the films would change the outcome immediately, but everyone was like, it's Quill's fault.
I keep pointing that out to people. The Endgame victory was the queen sacrifice. They *had* to lose that battle to win the war. Strange's one scenario was the only one that eliminated Thanos, his army, *and* the Black Order as threats.
100% this. We see how close Thanos comes to getting the gauntlet again in Endgame even with every Marvel hero throwing everything they had at him. The idea that if Quill hadn't hit Thanos and they got the glove off that they would have won is ludicrous.
@@Eloketh Like, even if they got the gauntlet off, Mantis couldn't keep him subdued forever, he was *going* to keep going after the stones, and even if they killed him, he's still got a fanatically devoted *army* led by his "children" who can still do an unbelievable amount of damage before they're put down. They've been massacring *planets* for decades, after all.
The villain can't see the problem with his own goal....He wants to make a perfect being, but if he could, that would mean he made a being that was above him. Or if he see's himself as a perfect being, his creation would be on the same level as him. However no matter what he makes, he will always put that creature below himself. So his ego prevents his own goal lol. He literally can't ever achieve his goal.
One of the things that I've recently learned is that James Gun didn't want to direct the Guardians of the Galaxy movies until he really started thinking about Rocket and realized that... as much as Peter Quill was the "main" character from the MCU perspective, Rocket was the character at the heart of the guardians. I'm not upset for them to continue with other Guardians movies with Rocket at the helm. He's earned it.
Considering they kinda have no choice not to, since James Gunn is no longer employed at Marvel - He is now co-CEO at DC Studios, and 80% of the cast has said no to more Guardians without Gunn..
51:25 this is such an important point-james gunn understands better than anyone i've seen in a long time that you cannot tell the story of a character (and several characters given the pasts of the other guardians) that was abused and manipulated without giving them a happy ending. to kill any of the guardians at the end of this movie wouldn't have been breaking that cycle of abuse for rocket! all of his friends had to make it out and have their arcs be somewhat fulfilled this time to make this a true survivor's story, and i think that's why this movie is being so highly praised by marvel lovers and others alike. THIS is how you write and direct a movie. so glad gunn was brought back to finish what he started, genuinely one of my favorite movies of one of my favorite characters of all time.
The ending of this movie never fails to make me tear up. Gunn was given free reign to do whatever he wanted with the guardians and he not only gave them a happy ending, he gave them the happiest ending. Quill reuniting with his family, Drax having a second chance at being a father a hundred times over, Mantis getting the chance to be her own woman, Nebula getting to be the sister she never had, Rocket and Groot carrying on the torch. It’s all perfect.
guardians 1 was the first mcu movie I saw in theaters before I even knew what mcu was. The guardians have a super special place in my heart and this ending made me cry SO much and it’s just perfect. The soundtrack, yet again, CHEFS KISS
this movie tackled so many themes that just hit hard for me (animal cruelty, found family, loss/grief, saying goodbye), i could have filled up a whole glass with salty water. i kid you not, it started with me crying over rocket’s possible death and ended with me crying over the gang splitting up. i have to say the guardians are my favourite group because of how different their dynamic is and it was very hard to come to terms with the fact that we won’t be seeing them anymore (the avengers were a “family” but kept arguing over differences they were simply too stubborn to work through, the guardians fight and all but they still love each other at the end of the day). top 5 mcu movies in my book, thank you for the fantastic video! (a++ for the editing lmaao)
This will make you happy. The reason why Groot says something else at the end is because you can only understand him once you have spent enough time around him and he considers you family. This was a way to show the audience that we had finally spent enough time with groot for us to understand him too like everyone else, and that we are now part of the family too.
47:40 We understand Groot right before he died in the first movie, where he said "We are Groot" but then died and the new groot was born, it took a little longer to understand him because he was changing so much so fast. We had Toddler Groot in GoG2, Teen Groot in Avengers Infinity war and now Young Adult Groot in GoG3. He's aging fast seeing as it looks like we'll have Old Man Groot in the next film, look how big he is and sleeping all the time.
26:48 after watching this a few times now- the scene where he calls Rocket to see the animals transform for the second time, he seems drunk or even upset. We’re told that him making the animals peaceful was his “ultimate goal” (for his new world) so why is he drunk and upset once he’s got it? Because he didn’t figure it out, Rocket did. He’s jealous that Rocket could have thought of something he did not. That’s why he shows little to no joy when unveiling the “perfect creatures”, but then begins smiling ear to ear when he reveals that Rocket was never meant for the new world. He’s just a cruel man who hides his true motivations behind self righteousness.
I think the beauty of the Mcu is that we can see the end of the overall Guardians story while still being able to see the characters again occasionally in other stories
"How do you learn to speak Groot?" By becoming a Guardian, which we (the viewers) have done by the end of the movie. It's how we hear Groot saying 'I love you guys' :)
I very rarely cry at movies. It's only ever the REALLY sad bits that cut to my core that ever get me. I absolutely love it when a movie can hit me like that. That being said, I think this movie is the only time I can recall crying happy tears (and I mean, BLUBBING) when Rocket finally wakes up again after his vision of Lylla and his friends. That shows how much James Gunn and his actors have made us care about these characters SO much. (Honourable mention to Peter reuniting with his grandfather - that got a little sniffle out of me too!)
As I remember, Phyla, "the white hair kid" is supposed to be with The Marvels team. I haven't seen a comic book yet that tells us she became a guardian of the galaxy member...
I love the closure of the gravity boots. It really shows you how much rocket thinks about his past. He knew if he ever ran into the High Evolutionary again, he would have a way to counter him.
Rockets intelligence is Tony Stark and Reed Richards level, and I would say his ingenuity and inventiveness surpasses them. He builds all of his inventions from junk and scrap
This movie broke me. I feel for these characters and everything they've gone through, I relate to it in some ways. This movie made me cry several times.
Fun fact about the Christmas Special reveal of Mantis. They already revealed she was Quill's sister in a Disney+ documentary and suddenly realised their mistake and deleted the episode before the special released, and hoped no one would notice. Based off of reactions, most people do not watch Disney+ behind the scenes anyway and no one was any wiser. and it is the guy from We're the Millers. "You guys are getting paid to get buff and be in Marvel movies?"
i was literally ugly sobbing by the end of it. the kind where you keep gasping for air and everything. i was already crying when they were splitting up and watching rocket scroll through the zune, already knowing that dog days was on the soundtrack, i just knew what would be playing next and that's when i started crying harder. this whole movie was so good and im going to miss the guardians tbh tbh
Calm down. “God tier” is a bit much. If you said that about Vol 1 or 2 then I’d agree but this one was just decent & is the least interesting out of the 3. You should say “in my opinion” at the end of your statement. The fake out near deaths were so annoying & cheap to get a reaction out of the audience, one time was enough, but it was too many for one movie
Fun Fact: Groot's appearance in the post credit scene is a call back to his first appearance in Tales of Suspence 13 (1960) as Groot the monster from Planet X in the era before "the Marvel Age of Comics" (which started with Fantastic Four 1 in 1963). At that time Marvel* was primarily publishing stories of an eerie or alien invasion nature (no super-heroes)- Groot was one of the alien invaders and chosen from that only comic appearance to be rebooted as one of the Guardians of the Galaxy *then known as Atlas Comics
I cried like crazy watching this film in the theatres, knowing this was the last movie of the og guardians roster James Gunn did a perfect job completing the Trilogy! Easily one of my most favourite MCU Movies Ever ✨
Fun fact, Lila is voiced by the same gal who plays Hawkeye's wife. War Pig is Judy Greer (You will recognize her from a ton of stuff even if you don't the name).
Judy Greer played Scott Lang's ex- wife in the Ant Man movies. The woman who voiced Floor was also in the 1st Guardians movie. The Ravager, Mainframe, who was originally voiced by Miley Cyrus in Guardians 2 was changed to Tara Strong who is the voice of Miss Minutes in Loki. The Human-Kangaroo person played Lemar/Battlestar's mother in Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The woman who played Recorder Vim also played Jessica Jones' mother.
If Nebula seems more emotional than ever in this movie: Remember Rocket was her only friend for five years, after all the other guardians were snapped away. Her only friend. In a way he's closer to her than all the rest of them. So she was absolutely desperate to save him. This is why when she finally hears rocket's voice, she's the one to react so emotionally. The guardians are her family. But maybe more than anyone, rocket is (excluding Gamora of course) Side Note: they also probably related the most. Both of them were torn apart and put back together with robotic parts, and abused by their father figures who were hell bent on perfecting the universe. Though obviously, Rocket must have left out some important information, given he never really told anyone the true extent of the physical trauma he endured
So technically, Groot only says “I am Groot.” However, when nobody besides his family is around, we hear what they hear, they understand what he means. Makes us part of the family.
37:15 that "Howdy there, ya freakin' creep!" has *got* to be a callback to Yondu's "Hey there, JACKASS!" from Guardians 2. My dude Kraglin keeping the spirit alive.
Creepy. Opening song. And really how Rocket often felt of himself, accordingly. Internalized emotions of the GotG members, as well at the time to varying degrees, at the time. Also what the High Evolutionary was doing. Making "creeps" like Floor, Lila, Teens, and Rocket, deaming them beneathe/creeps who would be euthanized... to the other robotic "creeps" the HE made, Pig, and one shown in reaction to Kraglin's expression. The ultimate realization Rocket made full circle is that he in fact is not a creep, as he was raised and dismissed to be - and why his attitude was as it was. Not a creep, but Rocket Racoon. Embracing himself fully. Yeah. So callback... yes... and so much more. ❤
The bad thing is that the High Evolutionary actually survived because the guardians saved him to imprison him on Knowhere. You can see Drax carrying him in the scene where the animals run from the ship. There was an alternate ending where you see Rocket closing the door to the High Evolutionaries’ cell but it got scrapped because of the movies length or something. He’s probably not done causing problems- :’ )
Groot "I love you guys." This was confirmed by the director: The Groot language is only understandable when you bond with a Groot. At the end of the movie, the audience finally bonds with Groot, so we can understand him like the Guardians could.
This was the 2nd movie ive ever cried to, and I cried A LOT aswell. I dont know what happend but when I saw Floor dead on the ground I just started SOBBING. I literally had to pause it for like 6 minutes cause I couldnt stop lol. My poor baby Floor 💔
Hey Alex, Marvel studios confirmed that the “i love you guys” from Groot is how the guardians hear groot. That is how groot sounds for people who understand him. It is not that we understand him after all this time.
Watched this first thing this morning as I just do D+ I was crying less than 5 minutes in and never before have I had to stop a movie for emotional distress until today. My dog even knew I was needing love and he spent a good amount of time in my arms licking tears from my face. GotG is Perfect.
There's a sad theory that she also named herself 'Floor' because the only time she has relief from the pain is when she's on the floor since she's always suspended in the air by the metal limbs.
One of the great things with this movie was that all the main characters got to have some character growth. I also suspect that since Starlord will return, that this phase of the MCU will include more celestials, given who his father was (and the end of Eternals).
I enjoy most of what Marvel has given us, it seems like a lot of care goes into making a good movie rather than just a money maker - MOST of the time. But this is on a whole other level of care and love poured into this film. If I was to find out that James Gunn actually isn't a massive fan of the comics I would be VERY shocked because his love of these characters is pretty damn clear.
This was the perfect conclusion to a trilogy. Consistent tone, characters and themes throughout all 3 films. Every character, including side ones, received an arc in this movie. They even wrapped the thematic presence of music in this movie, from the villain talking to Rocket in the flashback about the composition of music to every character appreciating music and dance at the end ( something that Peter would have been solo on in GOG Vol 1).
I believe Groot saying "I love you guys" is that the audience can now finally understand Groot. He was still speaking in his own language though. We can now hear what the rest of the Guardians hear when he speaks.
GOTG along with How to Train Your Dragon are the 2 trilogies for me that just got better with each installment of their respective series. Loved this film
GOTG 2 is far and away the weakest of the trilogy. And it's not even close. They didn't get better with each one. 1 was great 2 dipped in it's story telling. 3 came back strong. And didn't disappoint.
@@tphil5901guardians 2 has more heart than the first one, and certainly a better villain. Ronan was powerful but not particularly interesting. So these points alone certainly make it much closer than you say
@@VColossalV ego was quite uninteresting himself. The second act on egos planet is slow and boring. The first act with the inclusion of the sovereign is also a rather pointless and odd use of a plot device just to get us to ego. The sovereign have no real purpose other than that. As well as some weird jokes about their video game like military style. Ego posed nearly zero threat to anyone especially with Peter gaining cosmic celestial powers. Ego is not a better villain than Ronan. Ronan isn't exactly top tier either, but he posed a significantly larger threat to the guardians than ego ever did. Ronan was actually responsible for killing one of the guardians! A feat ego cannot claim. As far as heart? I'd argue the opposite. One character sacrificing himself in a sort of redemption arc isn't enough. Especially with the odd choice to have Drax seem to be consistently overly mean to mantis throughout the film. Almost as if he's bullying her the whole time. There's a distinct lack of heart there. Especially when you contrast their dynamic in the Christmas special and guardians 3 where their relationship is more of a give and take brother/sister like thing. Very different. Guardians 1 and guardians 3 are superior films. Most people are just so enamoured with the Guardians characters and the hype around James Gunn. Maybe they don't want to admit James Gunn isn't perfect or that these characters could possibly be involved in a weak story. But hey, that's just my take on things.
@@tphil5901 "ego was quite uninteresting himself." Certainly more interesting than Ronan. You later go on to say that Ronan posed a greater threat, Ronan only wanted to destroy Xandar and Ego was on the verge of taking over most of the universe. All of this is quite irrelevant when measuring the quality of a villain. Yondu was also technically a Guardian when he died saving Peter. His sacrifice is similar to Groot's in the first movie. All movies have plot devices to one extent or another. It's not inherently a bad thing. Adam Warlock is a plot device if you consider that him injuring Rocket was needed to move the story forward. It's good then that neither The Sovereign or Adam Warlock are the main villains in either movie. "Guardians 1 and guardians 3 are superior films." Oh, I suppose that settles it, he has spoken. "Almost as if he's bullying her the whole time." This is the only example you provide of supposed lack of heart. This is the movie that started that relationship between Drax and Mantis, there's certainly some serious moments in there between all the jokes about Mantis. The developing bond between Gamora and Nebula, becoming sisters. Yondu wasn't particularly likeable in the first movie but the second one puts everything he did into context and by the end most people cry for him. He really was his real daddy. The final few minutes of Guardians 2 truly is unmatched. - The "Father & Son" song by Cat Stevens and all the magic happening on screen before and during is just so well done. The first hug between Gamora & Nebula, actually motivated by Peters eulogy, the devastating eulogy Peter gives about Yondu, the "unspoken thing" between Gamora and Quill, finally being spoken. Rocket mourning the loss of his friend in Yondu, which develops in the movie and teaches him more about himself since they're very similar, even why he stole the batteries, and why he steals things in general throughout all the movies. The ravager funeral where Yondu earned the respect of his former people. Countless other little moments throughout. Listen to Yondu, use your heart, not your head. So moving. Unmatched.

Yes there sure are things to like about the film even for me. But they don't elevate it very high.
In the comics The groot situation works like a reincarnation of sorts. Gunn just wanted his to be different. I personally think he wasn't aware of the fact in the comics until later and then just went with it.
They wanted to play on our feelings like... A LOT. If you think of it, they practically created a scene with every Guardian where we would believe that he or she will die. This movie broke my heart. More than once. In my opinion it's the best movie they made after Infinity Saga 💚
Guardians 3 is the heaviest and most heart tugging movie in the mcu and somehow none of the main players die. So many times in this movie did i think someone was about to die to where i almost think Gunn was toying with us.
This movie was such a perfect end to the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and gives every character a satisfying arc that still holds the door open to new characters and new stories to tell. This is also a fantastic way to end James Gunn's tenure with Marvel Studios as he is now leading the DCU reboot. James Gunn is going to do phenomenal things with Superman and DC Studios
One thing sweet about gamora understanding Groot at the end. You see that shy happy smile he has because if you think about it, Gamora was basically his mom and that gave him a little look at potentially getting some relationship with her back. It makes you want to happy cry 🥲

for if you were still kind of confused. the movie states that adam warlock was meant to be the perfect being created by the sovereign.. only, he was ripped from the incubation chamber (showed in the end credits scene of vol. 2) prematurely by the high evolutionary in order to seek out, capture, and return rocket to his maker. this is why adam doesn't have full control over his powers throughout the film, why he has to learn societal values, the differences btw right and wrong, also why he randomly passes out in the evolutionary's ship after using to much of his power at once (essentially giving himself a headrush). that is why this early version of him is mostly considered to be an "infant adam warlock," rather than a "fully developed adult adam"
This movie is incredible but I genuinely can’t watch it anymore because I can’t hold back the tears, my head is pounding after every watch from crying so much 😭

Director James Gunn fearlessly pushed boundaries, including the first use of an F-bomb in the Marvel series, and was ready to fight to include it.Aug 10, 2023" There were some F Bombs previously in the MCU in deleted scenes, but they don't count as the first in the MCU since they were "deleted scenes." GotGv3 had the first actual, official F-bomb in the MCU as it made it to the released version.
@elijahlavigne7596 I'm 100% positive he didn't, are you referring to when he says, "shut the front door"? Because if so we have very different definitions of f-bombs
I loved how the whole series Rocket was denying he was a raccoon. When he said that line "The name's Rocket, Rocket Raccoon" the entire theater cheered.
Alex: Oh you didn’t think I saw the Holiday special did ya!?!
Also Alex: I didn’t know that was a telekinetic dog!
Hahahah 😂😂

This movie in IMAX was INSANE. That hallway fight scene especially. GOTG12&3 will always have my heart
You are lucky you have an IMAX theater near you. I have to travel 260 miles to a legitimate IMAX, its crazy. Since only (roughly) 19 left in the U.S.
dude i saw it in 3D, it was so sick
honestly, I saw it at amc so not "true imax" but still amazing
wait you guys are getting paid?
@cazper420 oh man that used to be my predicament too. Thankfully they built one in town. It's hard outbthere man.
Understanding Groot means that we are part of the family now. I saw this opening day in the theaters, and cried so hard. They teased most of them dying, and no one did. It was still an emotional rollercoaster.
It's a little retcon too, Thor said he studied Groot as an elective on Asgard 💀
In every moment I was like pls don't kill them now glad none of the died man
This movie made me cry so damn much, and honestly it got to the point where just stuff like Groot saying “I love you guys” or Rocket playing Come Get Your Love in the midcredit scene made me sob even more because I was so damn emotional at everything lmao. I legitimately don’t think I’ve ever cried at a movie as much as I cried watching this for the first time, and I don’t think I will ever cry as much as this again
It’s almost worse the second time around, you’ll get emotional in non sad spots simply because you know what will happen to the characters.
Same 100%. I was a freaking baby. In theaters, I was with my girlfriend so I never let myself cry. When I watched it the second time, I ugly cried so bad lol. I will never stop talking about this movie. It's such an amazing wrap to the trilogy.
same bro
facts this movie makes me sob my eyes out and makes me do those little gasps of air 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love this explanation
If that was the 1 outcome doctor strange saw he would've just stopped him
2:08 That's exactly why reactions exist. To vicariously rewatch for the first time again.
Yes, exactly
When baby Rocket cried "hurt" in the theater, it absolutely broke me. And I'm a grown ass man with a family.

@@packedentertainment2866 Yeah i think this was just better than 1st and 2nd one, and my favourite marvel movie❣️
Fun fact - the comment about Nebula’s eyes was improvised by Chris Pratt and was so good that they kept it in the released version.
This movie broke me at a level few movies do. The mixture of grief and cute animals is too powerful
this movie tackled so many themes that just hit hard for me (animal cruelty, found family, loss/grief, saying goodbye), i could have filled up a whole glass with salty water. i kid you not, it started with me crying over rocket’s possible death and ended with me crying over the gang splitting up. i have to say the guardians are my favourite group because of how different their dynamic is and it was very hard to come to terms with the fact that we won’t be seeing them anymore (the avengers were a “family” but kept arguing over differences they were simply too stubborn to work through, the guardians fight and all but they still love each other at the end of the day). top 5 mcu movies in my book, thank you for the fantastic video!
The biggest amount of character growth in this movie is Alex going from "bug lady" to "Mantis"....proud of you.
I absolutely love James Gunn for not killing any of the characters and still putting together such an emotional rollercoaster.
30:48 did Alex just drop the n bomb? 🤣
Thought the same thing 😂
Or as an elective on Asgard.
I cried watching this movie so hard, I'm sure I'm gonna cry again🥲

I loved Adam Warlock so much in this movie, Will Poulter was the perfect pick for the role, i just love him and i hope we see him again someday❤
I love that Groot speaks to you telepathically, but you can only understand him when yall become “friends” or at least get close!!
He does not speak telepathically. He speaks out loud, but through enough interaction you learn to understand what he means
Or like Thor, you can just learn his language in school... :p
"THERE IS NO GOD,THAT IS WHY I STEPPED IN" has to be one of the greatest line in mcu history
The little ballsack lookin creature that mantis set free, was voice by James Gunn
i was literally ugly sobbing by the end of it. the kind where you keep gasping for air and everything. i was already crying when they were splitting up and watching rocket scroll through the zune, already knowing that dog days was on the soundtrack, i just knew what would be playing next and that's when i started crying harder. this whole movie was so good and im going to miss the guardians tbh tbh
All of Rocket’s backstory had me crying but it’s when Peter & his Grandpa reunite at the end that always makes me lose it.
I think if they had Vin Diesel say 'family' instead of 'i love you guys' as a quote to F&F that would have been awesome
It’s a god tier comic book film! James Gunn’s ability to write characters astounds me!
Calm down. “God tier” is a bit much. If you said that about Vol 1 or 2 then I’d agree but this one was just decent & is the least interesting out of the 3. Fun Fact: Groot's appearance in the post credit scene is a call back to his first appearance in Tales of Suspence 13 (1960) as Groot the monster from Planet X in the era before "the Marvel Age of Comics" (which started with Fantastic Four 1 in 1963). At that time Marvel* was primarily publishing stories of an eerie or alien invasion nature (no super-heroes)- Groot was one of the alien invaders and chosen from that only comic appearance to be rebooted as one of the Guardians of the Galaxy

I cried like crazy watching this film in the theatres, knowing this was the last movie of the og guardians roster James Gunn did a perfect job completing the Trilogy!
Easily one of my most favourite MCU Movies Ever ✨
When I heard Rocket's first words, I was crying. The fact it's an expression of pain breaks my heart
This is a movie that actually made me cry in a long long time watching when rocket was in the afterlife seeing his friends again 😢
If Nebula seems more emotional than ever in this movie:
Remember Rocket was her only friend for five years, after all the other guardians were snapped away. Her only friend.
In a way he's closer to her than all the rest of them. So she was absolutely desperate to save him.
This is why when she finally hears rocket's voice, she's the one to react so emotionally.
The guardians are her family. But maybe more than anyone, rocket is (excluding Gamora of course)
Side Note: they also probably related the most.
Didnt they retcon that in Infinity War? Thor studied their language in Asgard.
Groot "I love you guys."
This was confirmed by the director: The Groot language is only understandable when you bond with a Groot. At the end of the movie, the audience finally bonds with Groot, so we can understand him like the Guardians could.
but...Thor could understand him after just meeting him in Infinity War

Gunn has been obsessed with the comics his whole life
This was the perfect conclusion to a trilogy.
Also, great that it was a personal story with no galaxy-shaking stakes. Just people who've come to love each other fighting for each other.
It's been almost 3 months and I keep sobbing every 5 minutes on this movie. Damm what a rollercoster of emotions.

@@tphil5901
"ego was quite uninteresting himself."
Certainly more interesting than Ronan.
"Guardians 1 and guardians 3 are superior films."
Oh, I suppose that settles it, he has spoken.
"Almost as if he's bullying her the whole time."
This is the only example you provide of supposed lack of heart.
So moving. Unmatched.
@@VColossalV that settles it? I have spoken? No.. not at all
Chill out dude, I dunno you may have missed my last line in the comment where I said "hey those are just my thoughts"

Now if you can find enjoyment in the film that's great! You're allowed to like the movie. But I don't enjoy it nearly as much as the 1st one nor the 3rd. That's not to say it's a bad movie. Because it isn't bad. But the unevenness in the story and tone mixed with an uninteresting villain (claim to fame of MCU films) among other nit piks of mine, makes it rank low for me in my MCU rankings.
Yes there sure are things to like about the film even for me. But they don't elevate it very high.

In the comics The groot situation works like a reincarnation of sorts. Gunn just wanted his to be different. I personally think he wasn't aware of the fact in the comics until later and then just went with it.
5:23 If I had a drink in my mouth when Spiders started playing I would've spit it everywhere that caught me so off guard.
We all hope anyway..
One thing sweet about gamora understanding Groot at the end. You see that shy happy smile he has because if you think about it, Gamora was basically his mom and that gave him a little look at potentially getting some relationship with her back. It makes you want to happy cry 🥲

Alex, buying this movie is the best thing you could have done. This is the best ending to a trilogy
for if you were still kind of confused. the movie states that adam warlock was meant to be the perfect being created by the sovereign.. only, he was ripped from the incubation chamber (showed in the end credits scene of vol.
This movie is incredible but I genuinely can’t watch it anymore because I can’t hold back the tears, my head is pounding after every watch from crying so much 😭
When Groot said "i love you guys" he was still saying "i am groot" but for the viewers they wanted us to hear what all the guardians hear when groot speaks
