      Works great, especially with energy drink cans as they're a bit larger

    I've done it many times and it works great. My favorite way to make extra juicy whole bbq chicken. Closest thing to rotisserie without a rotisserie.
    Also to comment at 4:20 , the bottom of the beer can is in direct heat therefore the beer isn't overprotected by the chicken and it does evaporate. The alcohol evaporates as well softening the meat as it cooks.

    Beer can chicken tastes great. Tip: if you use a "tall boy" can, it keeps those lower chicken legs a little higher off the grill and they have a less chance of over cooking or burning. Also with your beer can half full, punch holes throughout the top portion of the can above the beer level. This allows added area for the beer to evaporate from the can into the bird adding more beer flavour and moisture. 😋 You're welcome.

    Want to know why there is a debate whether this works or not? There's a reason he didn't notice a difference on beer used.
    No way the beer boils. As you cook, both the meat, which is 70% water, and the beer, which is 90% water, heat at about the same rate. When you are done cooking, when the meat hits 165°F, the beer will also be about 165°F, well below the boiling point of water which is 212°F. Now some of the beer at the bottom of the can may be hotter, but the cooler beer above will mix with it via convection, so there is no way it will come close to the boiling point. There is still some evaporation from the beer at that low temp, but very very little. So, hardly any moisture escapes the can. So how can it moisturize the meat ? And anyone who says it crisps the skin, which is separated from the can by at least 1" of meat really has been smoking more than chicken.
    All beer can chicken is, is rotisserie chicken. Standing the chicken lets it cook evenly. You'd get the same result without the beer.

    • @Super123456789ki
      @Super123456789ki 5 років тому

      I have tried this method ang while its true that yoe don't notice any difference in beer used, you do notice a difference between beer used or not, if you use beer, or water is possible too the chicken comrs out much better, even when f you overcook it, and just so you know, you dont need to boil water for it to evaporate

      Clement Moraschi The cans are lined on the inside as well, rather not risk evaporation transfer. I'd still advice against it.

      +BIll Georgoulakis Yeah, this isn't really that healthy. You can even buy a container made for this purpose for a little more than the cost of a beer

      Putthatinur Pipe Yeah, I would go with a stainless steel gizmo if I where to do this for more than once or twice... (you should put a lable at the start of the video to let people know, it's easy enough and wont hust anyone...)

      +BIll Georgoulakis why not just put tin foil around the can?

    • @RunNscar3d
      @RunNscar3d 7 років тому +6

      there's no chemicals. its "etched" into the can. you would need a grinder to get it off

    • @jalmarivartola2286

      The paint is etched into the aluminium chemically, and it will take a lot more than 180F to get it out.
