Vine's DISGRACEFUL Controversies...

- Vine was one of the most popular social media platforms of the mid 2010's, arguably being the birth of short-form content as we know it today. However, just like TikTok and Musical.ly that would follow, it too hosted a number of controversial and obnoxious creators. In this video, we'll be discussing some of the most notorious.

Okay, that's it for me. If you enjoyed this video please interact with it (ie. like, comment, share, subscribe etc.) As it really helps me know that the work I put into these videos :)

Y’all know the “blue eyed stare”? Nash Grier is a prime example, man is trying to peer into peoples soul. I don’t even think he blinks
lizard man fr
Bruh
Nash Grier? Cameron Dallas? names that sound like amateur porn star names. Which is more disturbing considering they look prepubescent
LMAO YES! I thought I was the only one creeper out by guys with those unblinking blue eyes!🤣🤣
someone please get him some brown contacts 😭
‘Be natural, but only if you’re naturally beautiful’ is kinda a shitty message for young girls. Because what these guys class as ‘natural’ actually takes a lot of work. And usually, when they mean ‘natural’ they’re actually talking about women with a full face of makeup, but they don’t realise she’s got makeup on
💯 they are clueless children
And women talk down on men just the same. Men need a 6 pack with a 10 inch *******!
If men think natural is just less make up, then that’s because women have allowed that trope to continue
If those was girls talking about boys everything will be okay. . Double standards.
@@DrGranfouzi I’ve never heard a single woman say boys need to wear makeup. The only things I’ve ever heard women say is that boys need to wipe their asses and wash their hair. Are those standards unfair to you?
@@emilybarclay8831 women shaming men for their body chape. For their height.. body parts.. skin color.. and now one talk about that. And when a stupid boy who never touched a girl said some disgusting notes about makeup, the world is upside-down. Articles everywhere. . But whe a girl assaulted her boyfriend over an "like" no one said anything. We live in misandry world.
Insert vine boom sound here
Its you! :O
And I'm the only reply!?
That's crazy.
Love your work :)
Shaving your arms is a pretty ridiculous suggestion tbh. I tried it once in middle school and oh my god my arms were so itchy and prickly after for like a week. It just wasn’t worth it, especially when I was wearing long sleeves the majority of the time. I still shave my armpit hair, but other arm hair stays. I spend enough time shaving as it is.
It makes me cringe thinking about someone shaving their arms... Like, who does that to begin with?
I just imagine the discomfort
i shave mine when i go through phases where my body hair annoys me sensory wise 😂
😅 begins with envy of someone who had light colored hair on their arms in '93 and has continued because it felt amazing after lol.
I'd only do it if I had tattoos there to make them pop but if anything I'd rather just later it off shaving is a huge pain.
If a man wants me to wax my arms and legs, he has to do the same himself. That’s my compromise 😂
Fr so many guys want woman to shave, yet they look like they haven't shaved in their whole life.
100% reasonable
@@rat_in_a_bucket yeah also if he wants me to shave my pubes he has to shave his too, I do shave but it’s a principle. You can’t ask a person to shave without having to compromise on something yourself.
@@rat_in_a_bucket Exactly! Most guys my age look like werewolves 😭😭
@@sleepieststella It's actually very unlikely to grow that amount of hair.
i think the first video definitely WAS harmful.
im mexican, one of my BIGGEST insecurities ever is my arm hair. by 11 it had grown in, and everyone around me made it a big thing. it created deep rooted insecurities for me, if i had seen that video, i probably would have begged my mom to help me shave my arms.
im 18 now, and i dont let it bother me so much anymore. i have more arm hair than my boyfriend, and he doesnt care at all. but child me? yea.
At 13 a kid told me my hairy armpits was disgusting and he was a boy I likes who was a bit older, so after that I started shaving because I felt ashamed. I guess that feeling of being wrong, never left me cause I shave most of my hair to this day…
My ocd picked it up and ran with it
men who dont give 10 shits about your body hair is rare. im glad my partner has a huge fetish for it while my family still scutinizes me for being hairy.
I literally don't talk to my mother's side of my family anymore for similar reasons (among other things, such as speaking ill of my dad at HIS WAKE). I come from a line of hairy German women (I'm assuming it's the German blood and not the Irish or English), and I hate shaving because it takes so much time, so the hair on my legs gets REALLY long, especially in winter. Well, every time I would see my aunt, she'd take any opportunity she could to pick on me about my leg hair and would even pull on it at times! I have them (my aunt and her daughter) blocked on social media because of stuff like that.
Exactly, I have more hair than my bf but im glad hes one of the good ones (aka not caring for something that is natural for everyone 😐). I’ve shaved my arms when I was a child and that was one of the most uncomfortable weeks of my life. From that day forward I couldnt give less of a fuck what everyone thought.
yea i feel u in 3rd grade i remember being told my arms were hairy and i still shave my arms til this day because it stuck w me sm 😭
How can anyone think that "you can't be better at video games than me and I don't even play video games" is sound unfiltered advice?
Those boys were likely humbled as soon as they got married lmfao.
Nash is now married and doing family vlogs :/
@@insanenoire7154I god not family vloggers.
One of them Nash ( the one who was saying to shave ) is now a family vlogger and his wife doesn't shave
i had completely repressed Nash Grier and all his friends. I watched their videos RELIGIOUSLY growing up and can confirm the stuff they said really messed with my body image issues as a preteen to the point where I wonder if it would've been better if I had never watched any of their videos at all
Why were you watching such content at such a young age?
@@MetaKnight964 because that’s sorta all content was back then
Dude if a girl is better then me on anything that I enjoy, she's instantly a goddess in my eyes, think about it you want someone that will make your offspring stronger then to teach them how to be weak.
my mom is legally blind without glasses and she can still make out the shapes of people. legally blind doesnt mean everything is gone
THIS!! I’m legally blind and choose not to drive and wear glasses to correct my vision to a degree. Without glasses I’m severely near sighted. My doctor said I CAN drive, but I need corrective lenses. People asked me “how do you see??” Like.. I open my eyes.. then I get the “if you’re legally blind how are you typing this.” Then I facepalm.
I was legally blind at one point, wore the thickest glasses out there.
Stopped wearing them because I got bullied, and somehow my sight got better.
Pretty sure my eye doc was greedy and wanted money because now I only need reading glasses. But damn if I had worn them for longer I think I would have actually been permanently impacted… wearing glasses should not give you daily migraines
the funniest part of that clip of cameron dallas, nash grier, and jc caylen is that at least two of them are married with kids now
I think I’m also gonna have nightmares of the “Sweatshirt” music video again after watching this. Also, that “I’m legality blind” quote will never get old with me. 😂
And Nash Grier is now married and doing family vlogs. This makes me uncomfortable. I hate family channels.
As long as an individual doesn't limit themselves to a single perspective of "What makes ___ attractive?" I think the content alright...but then again some "perspectives" could be wildly outlandish. As for the topic of shaving, people are allowed to have preferences. Expecting a woman to **always** be shaved or not grow hair at all is an unreasonable expectation😅
Plus not everyone really likes shaving and for some it's ok and I think that's where we should go about our business on that.
@weirddd469 most definitely,, it's such a chore 😅
I don’t think it’s unattractive per say . I’d like for my woman to be shaved when we have intercourse tho it’s a preference thing for me. As I previously stated hair doesn’t bother me but I’d prefer for a woman to be clean shaved 🤷🏼
@@nathanielminassian186 See you are reasonable. It's a preference but it's not a unreasonable preference, it's the most reasonable I've seen. Shaving before being intimate is the most reasonable request in my opinion. But day to day normal?? it's a chore sometimes and it isn't that big of a deal as long as you keep yourself clean.
@@nathanielminassian186that's what I call a fetish
I never new the context to the legally bind clip and damn that’s funny asf 🤣😂💀🤣
😂😂
hearing someone say “jacob sartorius” gave me whiplash
The issue with the first video isn’t that it was just some guys saying “these are things we find attractive!” Or “these are some things that personally give us (what we would call now) the ick”, they were giving ‘advice’ and saying women *shouldnt* do these things and saying it’s disgusting or gross or unhygienic for a woman to have body hair- if that video was released in modern day they’d probably get a similar reaction (just maybe with some incels/“alpha males” taking it to an extreme lol)
The reason all those tiktoks of “things women find attractive” or whatever are typically fine and don’t get a lot of backlash is because they focus on positives, or small details. They’re not saying “we like buff men, no man should be lanky” or something (going with weight not because it’s that comparable but because I can’t think of anything else rn lol), they’re saying “I love when men do this thing! It makes me feel this way!”
Looks like you've never seen a bad girl video. And you should know women are more judgmental of looks than men, except for gay men
It’s no different than what’s happening now really every cunt and his or her dog is going on about how people should be and they are all opinions it can be damaging but parents should educate their kids on these matters better
Omg the first kid in the middle 😂 poor kid. If you could grow some facial hair, her little bit of peach fuzz wouldn’t bother you.
I know it’s a terrible situation. But I legit did the wojak pointing meme when I heard the words “I cannot see, I’m legally blind”.
The f slur has ALWAYS been controversial and negative, maybe not for the straights, but ask anyone in the LGBT community
There is a food in the uk called the f slur, I was sure my friend was pranking me when he told me. But it’s actually for real, I thought he was being a prick so he could say the f slur…
You're so right. "Keep in mind this was back in 2013 and the word wasn't as stigmatized" is such a crazy statement to so confidently make. Just because you weren't personally affected by it doesn't mean me and every other LGBT person weren't having it slung at us at every opportunity.
Im in the LGBT community and this is laughable😊
Ah yes, I've always thought 12 year old boys had the best information as far as what is attractive 🙄
Nash's pupils look so bleached, my goodness.
That moment when even a video platform with a six second time limit can generate a 30 minute video about it's controversies.
I remember watching all the Zach King Vines.
I feel like the "Tiktok ruins attention spans" people would get a heart attack from the 6 second video format
Do you mean the Zack King who makes videos of magic tricks and optical illusions?
@@alexkuhn5188 yessir
"shave the peachfuzz" hunny, you just booked a castration without anesthetics!
the first video's music just kills me 😭😭 very much 2013 coded bubbly bgm when talking about something very much damaging
Ah yes, great video as always Fox. The state of Tik Tok is saddening.
❤️❤️❤️
Ah, a day when Fox finally uploads a Vine documentary in the series.
EDIT: OMG I GOT 10 LIKES THX
EDIT #2: Jesus Christ now I got 10+
EDIT #3: Welp guess like I now have 20
I still find it odd that I was the target demographic for vine back then but, i never wanted to use it. Strangely i still watched vines on UA-cam...
i got into vine right after it died, i was a vine kind post vine💀💀
1:24 most boys can’t even tell when women have their eyebrows done 🤣 except the people who over do it too bold, one time i had to fill in my eyebrows in class cuz i was late that day and all the guys were shocked like “omg you draw your eyebrows in we never knewww”..
Suddenly every crime is heinous... What even is heinous?
Well I'm not getting a boyfriend anytime soon 😂 according to these muppets.
I love watching your videos. Your voice is very calming and it’s not only 8-15 minutes long like most videos
With peace and love, I don’t believe any of those three young men actually even LIKE girls.
How were people old enough to watch vine taking advice from guys who look like they just hit puberty
i- how old do you think we w e r e ????
I just don’t get why hairlessness is so attractive, and why it seems to apply more to women. Why did my brother never have to learn to shave his legs?
I’m not saying you can’t have preferences, but the way it’s pushed more societally onto women never made sense to me.
It's bc alot of men are predators, kids are hairless not grown women but for some reason men want that, hmmm
PLEASE make another. Vine was one of my favorite social media platforms and still is to this day.
How to be attractive: Basic hygeine, self-care, and a friendly personality
Sad people on the internet think these things are difficult to achieve
I mean they are 😂
@@5ashll303 not really unless you're disabled and can't do things like shower on your own.... don't be an asshole and take care of yourself. Granted mid psychosis I need help with the self care and hygiene but I still do try in that headspace.
mmm no. you need to be smooth as a dolphin
I think you kinda missed the point? There were a lot of mixed messages in the video and they definitely weren't just talking about hygiene and good personalities
But they were really young at the time and it makes sense why it was childish. (Stuff like shaving peach fuzz or arm hair 24/7). No one is saying those things are difficult to achieve tho. Sorry for the long comment

Those who are the loudest and rudest about homosexuality are the ones who are most afraid to just come out and admit what they truly are, blue eyes. Just be open about what you really are it's going to be okay

I’d love to see the analytics on videos like this. I seriously suspect that it’s not the opposite sex but people of the same sex looking to have their own biases confirmed.
Happy to see this! I was really excited for this one!
My favourite vine star was daz black he is like my comedic twin the dude is such a genuine nice guy and for that you got to love the dude x everything he did on vi e was masterfully funny he's done so well since aswell and its well deserved. ❤️ ❤🎉
Love your videos! You get me through the work day.
Though, i wanted to mention that One Direction were not really teen pop by the time midnight memories was released. They drifted to pop rock and the album after is categorized in the folk-pop genre. All of that happened because members(mainly louis) had creative control and started writing their own songs. I understand your point but mentioning Justin’s shift into a different genre isn’t fair to One Direction.
I recommend listening to midnight memories start to finish. It’s a really good example of the genre shift. ((:
5:15 I honestly think this content is a middle ground to me. It’s okay to give advice, but for it to be good it has to be important. Traits, Personality, and the choices they made is a good think to look for. Being better at a video game than you is not important in the slightest.
or you just let women do what they want and then eventually you will run into one that you like. People don't need to mold themselves into something they aren't when there's already people like that that exist lmao
@@madisonevans7950 If they are doing nothing wrong that’s true. If women are doing something wrong, then you report them or try to solve the issue they are dealing with.
I'd say to take the advice with a grain of salt, because it's just random people on the Internet stating their preferences and not everyone is going to want the same things
Your audio is so good , i can hear you and the soundscape is at perfect distance
💪 tascam is where it's at baby
These people apologizing for their bad acts in ancient times (1 week ago), is getting to be truly ridiculous. 🤮
45 yr old mom here. I binge watch things like this. A parents should. If your teenagers potentially watching it, you should be watching it
Yes so down for part two
Dapper has done so much more than a boxing match.
He’s got married
Had two kids
Done a stand up tour
Opened his own night club
Had a couple of small parts in films
Had a house built for him and his family
Earned enough to be able to drive around a McLaren
Apparently a few £M
Plus other bits
After he lost his home, job, dad and grandad. Plus he quit drinking and drugs.
He’s really done well.
Maybe I’m a fan boy, but it’s an underdog story.
The first one just made me want to laugh
14:19 at least now I know where those sound bits come from.🐱
I don't have a problem with these "what blank looks for in blank" videos.
I knew from a young age that every single choice I make to my appearance will get some kind of a reaction from outside, as someone who has made more than a few unconventional fashion choices and turned them into my trademark look.
However I do think the creators could've done better by reminding the watchers that everything they say is just a suggestion, results may vary and there's no absolute truth when it comes to appearance. The number of tastes in women is equal to the amount of people attracted to women in the first place, every aspect will have people who might get turned off, people who won't care and people who might get turned on. Experimenting with your appearance is a part of shaping your personality in a way that's a huge part of adolescence.
And another thing, if someone does indeed act according to these suggestions and get desired results and are happier because of it there's absolutely no reason to shame them
I didn't even know vine existed until 2015
DUDE!!! i fr thought you was holding a blue hair brush and i was like why are you holding a hairbrush AND ITS A MICROPHONE,,,
honestly.. all "what x like in x" videos arent good. theyre all personal preferences from the people who made the video. pair that with the fact its conventionally attractive guys (im 16 yall dont cancel me) talking to an audience of young girls and thats doubly bad because now those girls will take all that to heart and change for internet celebrities that dont know they exist.
It's fine having a preference of women who shave, but to expect every woman to always shave is wrong. Same with men
There is a satirical video called 35 annoying things girls do, it is the only video like that that I approve of because it is obviously a joke. It was an unhinged video and I still think it's funny 12 years later.
Holy shit. Kenny Webster, i know who that is. Hes a morning radio host out of Houston Texas. Its called The Walton and Johnson Radio show

If a guy can sit through an armpit wax without squeaking, he can talk about it.
given how out of hand the whole "men on the internet make impossible, insulting demands of women" genre of content has gotten since that first video, some stupid teenagers rambling and saying to shave your arm hair is just silly. it's almost quaint with context on the scarier side of things, even.
Nash grier grew up in the wrong generation, all of elementary school was that early 2000's period where everything uncool was "gay"
I hate it whwn guys say "females." Like really? Very misogynistic.
If they're like 15, okay they're just dumb kids. If they're like anything, then yeah, cam agree. Same goes for women that call boys or men males
female is an adjective, i dont get why ppl use it as a noun

Vines are iconic, but unfortunately we ended up with these losers.
Okay, i can understand a guy not being attracted to dark and hairy under arm hair or leg hair. I'm not attracted to thick dark hair on men either. But to tell a girl to shave her peach fuzz on her face and arms? Cmon man 😂 no real man cares about a little bit of peach fuzz.
Those first boys need to grow some (hair)
Isn't Grier American? He can even use the excuse "it's the British word for a cigarette."
God I forogt about Nash Grier and thank god I did.
Yooo less than a minute

Its fair to expect ur SO to shave their armpits imo (no matter the gender) but armhair? The peach fuzz? Thats very much not okay to expect of someone

I think it can be harmfull. It can be not harmfull as long, as you are don't seth imposible szenders, not an asshole to people who don't fit into it, and know that it's your prefrenc. When you do it like the alpha male/nice girl comunity then, it's bad.
