I'll stick with my Ruger for now, but I think this is a nice pistol. I suggested some friends give it a look. I'll look at the one with the 1911 grip angle when it comes out.
Excellent review as always from Sootch! Here we are a year later and there is several 1-3000 round or more reviews. Looks like Palmetto has a winner with the Dagger. Personally I would much rather buy a USA made, highly improved Glock, for almost half the price. It just shows what Glock could do after 40yrs, if they tried. As a doublestack 1911 fan, I am looking for a decent optics ready poly pistol for the truck, car, boat and summertime use. Its down to the Dagger or the G3 Toro. I am leaning towards the Dagger as it comes with high height sights, and threaded barrel over the Taurus. Dagger has the Glock parts aftermarket, now has full FDE available too. I may just buy my first "Glock" from Palmetto! If Palmetto comes out with their 1911 grip angle frame , I will pick one of those up too! Thank goodness Glocks patents expired, now we can get some frame and slide improvements and better prices and support US companies, and US manufacturing. Thanks Sootch, I appreciate your testing and thoughts as a long time reviewer, shooter. My dollars are limited at this point.
I have two and a third RMR on order. Have fired about six hundred round through one with Glock, ETS, and KCI mags. No malfunctions, no pin walk, no problems, nice groups. Have a couple of negative comments (relative to the shooter) but thoughts are overwhelmingly positive. Great pistol regardless of price. Well done PSA!
The looseness at 9:45 from slide to frame is necessary for good reliability. Testing has found that a loose fit in that area doesn't affect accuracy and helps ensure good reliability. Where you want it to be tight fitting is the barrel lock up on the slide. The reason you get wiggle at the front isn't due to slide to frame fit at all, it's about how tight the recoil rod is.
I was in the first batch that bought in September of 2020. I also had the first video up, not as in depth. I had what appeared to be a one off problem with my trigger pin walking. I contacted PSA and they responded almost immediately and had it shipped overnight to them. They handled the situation well and I will have it back Friday. I ran 300 rds of steel and will send another 500 on my next video. I’m not a reviewer so it’s just a normal guy and his experiences and feelings.

The dagger is basically a finished '80%' frame with a milled glock gen 3 slide, that's taking an eternity to even be available to buy. Just buy a Glock.
I have a Dagger, I mounted a Holosun 407 on it. The gun shoot very well, I have about 1000 rounds through it and the only malfunction from ammo was some of the frangible rounds I used it the pistol, no issues with any of the other ammo I used. I did use Pmag and Glock mags, not a problem feeding. I also had a .40 cal Glock mag that slipped in with my 9mm mags, I loaded it up and the gun did feed without an issue. I know some are saying the pins are walking out, I have not had that issue with mine. I paid $380 for mine because it was cut for optics and has the 1/3 co-witness steel sights on it.
Great idea. I have the new GX4 and love it and the Dagger is the first "Glock" I've seen that I actually want to buy. How can it be a Glock clone and not be ugly. Kinda like how Liv Tyler looks like Steven Tyler but she's gorgeous.

Yup. $349.99 with an RMR-cut slide, suppressor-height sights and a threaded barrel. Also a complete frame for $99.99. Both were supposed to ship along with the base model in March. March 2020.
That's supposedly coming, but PSA is swamped with orders right now. There's not a lot of incentive to work on new products when your old products are selling out constantly as fast as you can make them.
Been shooting PSA firearms for a decade plus. Never had any issues, and they always go boom and my personal go to rifle is a PSA upper over a JMT lower, and stainless barrel and nibo bcg. I was ORDERED TO TAKE THE VIDEOS DOWN OR FACE DISCIPLINE. In any event...here are the issues I identified with my Dagger. 1. Excessively long take up on the trigger before the break. 2. The slide squats in the rear and torques/twists when the trigger is pulled during the take up. 3. The barrel moves or can be moved when the barrel and slide are in "lock up" where everything should be tightly fitted for accuracy. 4. The mag moves excessively front to back when it is in the mag well. When shooting....I had a fully seated and locked in mag....fall completely out of the gun one time and almost fall out a second time. I had 4 failure to feeds out of one mag when using some hollow points. To be fair....overall the gun was accurate when shooting....actually more accurate that I thought it would be.

Bought one yesterday for 350 bucks not bad. PSA is definitely on a new game plan it’s just like a Glock. If you can’t afford a Glock, this is your best route to go because it is Glock compatible.
Nice pistol. I think i paid about 330 for mine with nightsights. Well worth it. The grip and feel are awesome
Well I suppose I could just throw in one of my old factory triggers that are just hanging around.
Exactly my plan.
Thanks for a very clear review. After carrying a Glock 23 on duty for 17 years, I am looking forward to seeing how this feels.
Great product ... *IF* PSA can make the product available (unlike a lot of their other products).
Right lol. I know it was available for a little bit, but it sold out right away
Join the palmetto state armory handgun owners group on Facebook and they’ll notify when they drop. I got one last Friday
@@plantedad3659 thanks
I was in the first batch that bought in September of 2020. I also had the first video up, not as in depth. I had what appeared to be a one off problem with my trigger pin walking. I contacted PSA and they responded almost immediately and had it shipped overnight to them. They handled the situation well and I will have it back Friday. I ran 300 rds of steel and will send another 500 on my next video. I’m not a reviewer so it’s just a normal guy and his experiences and feelings.
Good luck finding one after this video.

Got one ordered, red dot ready, silencer ready, so excited.
"... this is the best deal of the year"
Uh, what year? 2022? 2023? Will the Dagger ever be anything else than "Notify-me-when-in-stock?" =8-O
I just ordered one. $359 with 10 mags and a bag with free shipping. So excited.
The dagger is basically a finished '80%' frame with a milled glock gen 3 slide, that's taking an eternity to even be available to buy. Just buy a Glock.
Yup they should do a Gucci Zevtech version just so the masses can flex. At least you get a warranty too
It's missing the brass to the face feature of the Gen 4. Or is that a flaw?
But wayyyyyyyy lesss then a crock, I mean Glock.
It looks like a base model Gray Ghost Inc slide on a Shadow Systems frame.
@@aldousorwell3807 looks nothing like a shadow frame. Looks more like a grey ghost frame than anything
I was actually able to find one in stock and ordered it this afternoon. Very excited to finally have my hands on one. Love the video sir
Could pick up one of these and the new Taurus gx4 for about the same price as a glock. Seems like a no brainer
Indeed a no brainer
Exactly
Buy this and the Taurus, have your main & back up for less than the cost of a Glock. Sounds like a winner to me.
Great idea. I have the new GX4 and love it and the Dagger is the first "Glock" I've seen that I actually want to buy. How can it be a Glock clone and not be ugly. Kinda like how Liv Tyler looks like Steven Tyler but she's gorgeous.
There one out there floating between youtubers and so far no malfunctions after 7000 rounds
Looking like a GREAT budget option! I'm excited to see their optics ready platform. Also excited to see a Wheaton Arms trigger in the Dagger!
Thanks David! We're planning a Wheaton Arms transformation video coming up! Yeah, the optics ready version is going to be crazy.
I think that a lot of people are going to be disappointed in the ancient design.
There are so many new, modern, great options, especially in the micro 9's, that
continuing... I don't think that the sales will be very good.
@@_cal_techie I agree that the design itself is not anything new and would blend in with the others except for price. That's where all the excitement is coming from. Thanks Brother

Great review Sootch, I picked mine up after watching your video. For $299 you cant beat it. With that said, I friggin love the grip. It feels great in the hand, but those damn roll pins man, lol
PSA really needs to fix that. If you dont have a hammer on hand you're NOT breaking this pistol down or putting it back together. Overall its a really nice pistol and a good value for the money.
Thanks again for a fantastic review!
Nice flex move with the pile of fiocchi! :)

Right lol
How good is Fiocchi? Never been sure how it compares to other stuff.

For those that complain about PSA always being out of stock. Check their website starting around 2 o’clock everyday. That is around the time they add new inventory. You just have to keep checking it until it comes in. Works for me every time.
wish it was an m&p clone so the 1911 grip angle version in the future sounds interesting, wonder what mags that will take?
Got the same Gen 3 19 since 2000. I’m sticking with th OG Don. Great review , thank you for sharing.
I like how even Glock clones are beating out OG Glocks. "Perfection" they say.....
Glock calls it perfect, ceases to innovate. Those that 'clone' them, seek to improve on the design. I can't say I'm surprised.
I love mine. My son got one and put a timmey trigger in it. I did a trigger job on mine . They both shoot very well. And ours came with carry cases
The thing I hate about gun reviews is without actually handling the gun it's hard to tell if I'll like it....even if I trust the 'Reviewer" hands down like Sootch 👍.

It "feels really thick in your hand." That's what she said! 😀😀
*note* - She lied.
I'm a dyed in the wool Glock fan boy.....but I jumped on the standard PSA Dagger with night sights when I saw it available last weekend. I got the same one your review in your video.....which I watched before I hit "ADD TO CART' on the PSA website.
Wonder if they can do a optics ready slide version for 350$
Even if it came in at $400-$450 it would still be an insane value.
He said the optics ready should be under 400, so I’m guessing 399
When they announced the Dagger at Shot a couple years ago they said the optics ready version with a threaded barrel would be 350 www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2020/01/22/palmetto-state-armory-ps9-dagger/
Poi shifts after a 400 round shooting session about an inch left. My Colt HBAR did the same. I hope I never need to be in a prolonged firefight in America. I will pick up a Dagger when available.
For the price and built in the USA this is GOOD thumbs up, shared and thank you for the video. :)
I got lucky. I snagged one today. I checked the website....because why not....and it was in stock. I can't wait to get it.
“The gun 10 years in the making, promised a zillion times ams delivered ZERO”. But this guy finds one.
That's to build the hype even more for something we can't seem to get.

Really don't like hinged trigger shoes. But whats amazing about this is the Glock after market. There's 1,000 different trigger options. They would sell a ton of these if they could produce enough.
They had to use a crappy hinged trigger…I changed the one out in my cheap S&W and it’s far better for it.
Lose the hinged trigger.
got my sd9 used, barely fired with Talon grips and Apex trigger and spring kit for 300...fantastic gun
I've read that the polymer guide rods actually help with reliability and that most of the issues with malfunctions have to do with aftermarket guide rods
So much for the email letting me know they're ready lol
Yup. I asked to be notified when they first announced it at shot show over a year ago. Never got the email.
Just signed up to be notified again. SMH.

Already have 2 Glock 19s. I'm down for one at $300 just to see.
It's ironic Smith & Wesson patented the hinged trigger and currently holds the trademark on the name "Dagger" (i.e., Gemtech suppressor).
I’ll be curious to see the 1911 grip angle frame.
That is why I own no Glocks. Shadow Systems has a back strap that mimics the 1911 angle. I have three of them and they are great.
Lone Wolf 's "Timberwolf" frame.
I think glock fanbois are supposed to insist that you just need to practice and change your grip entirely for the gun. Because ergonomics are not high on Glocks list of important features. They show up, but are seriously behind so many other people now.
@@SlavicCelery If they had less backstrap hump and used palm swells and eliminated the finger grooves on compacts and subcompacts these ergnomonics would not be as much an issue. But the Tuetons are stubborn.

Don your reviews are always on point. If i want a gun and you dont have the video i wont get it. Until i see your review. Thanks for the good work man.
These are the issues I had with my PSA Dagger (BTW I had two video reviews critical of this pistol and terrible PSA customer service experience posted on my channel) I can only assume someone from PSA or someone that knows me or where I work contacted MY employer.
Unions are good things... sorry brother
