Truth about the PSA Dagger: The Cheapest Glock Clone 1000 Round Review (vs G19 Gen 5)

- The Palmetto State Dagger is a $300 Glock Gen 3 clone with enough features and hype to make it the most anticipated gun of 2021. But is it really as good as they say?

2024 here and $249 base dagger well worth the price
As someone who has frequented Palmetto State Armory, I truly appreciate this review!
I got a blem with Docter cut for a red (green) dot for $300. In 2023 the trigger isn't bad, and once I got it zeroed it STACKS rounds in the target at 10 yds. The grip fits my hand better than a Glock, and the Dagger doesn't feel as slide heavy as a Glock. I'm very happy with mine, especially for the price.
I bought one about a month ago. Yes you can get them as other have said when they list them from 3:30-4pm est every day. I bought the carry cuts model in grey for $349 and it’s been great! I did the $.25 trigger job on the internals and it totally smoothed the trigger out. I also decided to buy a Ranger Proof shoe for it. After installing it I decided to take it back out and return it as the drop safety was completely inoperable. The pull with the trigger was awesome but I didn’t like the fact that it disabled the drop safety. I told myself that I wasn’t going to wrap up a bunch of money in upgrades on a $350 pistol that’s basically a nightstand/travel weapon and it’s getting a olight and that’s it. I have been happy with it after 500rds. Instead of making the dagger something it’s not by changing a bunch of parts, I decided to keep it and also buy a Canik Tp9sfx for a range/comp pistol. Bottom line is it’s a good pistol especially for the price tag and you can get it for $300-$350. There’s no need to buy pay $500 for this thing and not sure why you would.
I paid exactly 500 for it. It came with the cut slide and threaded barrel, as well as vortex venom. seemed like a good idea. It's with the FFL so we'll see.
@@garakward6118 i thought about getting that one in ranger green in the near future here, let me know how it shoots and handle and would you use it as a edc gun
@@danielmoua7724 I shot mine loved it. If still wouldn't use i as an EDC. My thinking around firearms is that there will always be lemons. Glock makes lemons. There are glocks leaving the factory that will not work. There are Daniel Defense and Bravo Company that are just not going to work. Every company will create duds. However the more expensive companies have higher denominators. 1/100000 glocks fail vs 1/1000 Daggers. For an every day carry gun the denominator matters, for a range/competition gun it just doesn't. If you really can't afford a higher priced gun, take it to the range. My understanding is if it's going to fail it will either be in first 100 rounds or in the thousands. So if you shoot your gun at the range and it likes your ammo and you don't run into any major problems it'll probably be good for you. Whatever you go with I hope it works and I hope it makes you happy.
@James VanHook what is the $0.25 trigger job?
@@Woodpusherpro basically polishing the metal parts of the trigger assemble and taking any sharp edges off of metal parts. Look up Glock trigger job here on YT and you will get a lot of examples. Easy cheap and fast way to get a smoother trigger
Just ordered one in FDE for $259 and a complete Dagger lower for $59.
Sept 28th 2023 just bought a frame for 49.99 an a complete slide with barrel and recoil spring for 189.99
A year later, I bought one and I think they've fixed some of the issues. I got my Dagger for about $250 by buying the slide/barrel and frame separately. . My version is in FDE and had a threaded gold barrel (not my favorite). It is optics-ready (RMR cut) and has suppressor height sights. It has been 100% reliable and it's ridiculously accurate.
I anticipated a terrible trigger. What I got was a meh trigger that, honestly, is a little better than my older Glock triggers. Frankly, if I had paid 450-500 for this gun, I wouldn't be disappointed. For the 250 I paid, I'm more than happy. It won't be my EDC gun. I mainly bought it for fun.
So a cheaper copy of a Glock ends up feeling like a cheap copy of a Glock. Color me shocked. Always appreciate you bringin us the "what's what" though!
Feels 10x better in hand than a glock. Watch other reviews and get one in your hand
Nobody was doing Stryker guns until glock made it popular. Since then everybody has copied or made there own version. I havent seen a pistol copied so much. Maybe the cz 75 has more copies.
@@treverdavis5881 nah. 1911 and Browning Hi-power have more copies but likely the CZ is third
@Chris G I have had gen 3 glocks and have gen 4 and 5 glocks. I miss the old Melonite finish, but other than that they seem just fine to me.
@Chris G an ak will outshoot the shooter. They are plenty accurate.
Out of all the pistols I own, I wish they all felt like the grip that is on my TX22, fits my big mitts like a glove, as you mention on you first shots video. Thanks for the unbiased reviews you and the Mrs. do! Greatly appreciated!
Completely agree. I think the TX22 is best overall deal on the gun market today; so much greatness in a gun that you are likely to shoot ALOT! I recommend them to everyone who will listen. As soon as I felt that grip, I knew I had scored an awesome gun.
The TX 22 feels like it was designed for my hand.
Agreed. I love my TX22. It’s the only pistol I’ve ever owned that felt like an extension of my hand.
I bought mine for 350 with the tritium sights. Love mine. It has run like a beast straight from the box with no cleaning or lube so far.
Loving all of your content. I would like to recommend an The Honest Outlaw series of reviews titled “You can do better by spending a little bit more”. As an example what else can you consider if you spend an additional 100 dollars instead of getting the PSA Dagger.
great idea
The dagger is a great gun and many of us waited years to get our hands on one. I'm buying another soon. Super accurate and wouldn't hesitate putting it against higher tier Gucci guns
@@c10rich41 are you saying you would put this up against a higher end gun because of the accuracy or you would just put this up against a Gucci gun because of value?
@@calsol22 the grip alone beats out the glock. Palm swell is excellent. Accuracy. You're getting a gen3 glock but better imo. Get one in hand and go shoot it. No complaints from me. End of the day it's still a glock clone at 300 beans but I dig it.. Well exceeded my expectations.
Current content notwithstanding, sounds like a great series, I have always used that exact theory (spend a little, get the best value) and it almost wyas works....
2024 prices: I have in slightly less than $230 my Dagger bought and put together in 2023 ($75 for the frame delivered and transferred to my FFL, $130 for a Dagger slide (closeout deal), $9 for the Dagger recoil spring assy, $40 for the Aim barrel, $12 for a magpul mag). I'm lucky in that I hit a few sales with free shipping and was able to stop by Aim in person to pick up the barrel (saved on shipping) but overall at slightly less than half the price of a new Glock I'm happy with it.
Just bought a Dagger yesterday evening $259 !! Sniper Green Compact Dagger
Aug 24 ,,, Couldn't pass up $259
I don’t know if anyone has asked but maybe a review on a PSA Saber Dagger. Great Videos Dude keep it up
Until I handle 1 of these, shoot it & see how reliability is long term, I still like Canik the best for budget pistols. Ive got a TP9Elite SC with a 407k for my beater. Reliable & a great trigger.
Love my Canik
Canik sc w red dot edc
I get that people love their Canik's. But I don't especially endorse buying stuff from countries whose governments hate us, and keep in mind Glock and it's clones have nearly limitless selection and support for magazines/accessories/ holsters/ sights etc etc etc.
The complete Dagger frames are going for a hun when they're in stock, the ergos are interesting.
...to be fair, Palmetto State Armory is in the United States, which also currently has a government that mostly hates us...
@@murphykenji yes I agree, I started feeling the same way not to long ago. They love us when we're feeding them the money though.
@@murphykenji So you're saying the Turkish government hates "us"...who is "us"? is "us" freedom loving gun owning Americans? Cause i could make a pretty good case that the current government of the United States hates "us"
Thank you Honest Outlaw for actually giving honest and truthful reviews. I watched several of that guy named Scooter Pants or Skippy, or something like that? He gives every firearm a good review, I have never heard him come out and say "thumbs down" on a pistol. If I owned a firearm company I would be happy to give old Scootie a free firearm and a bag of chips to review it because I would know it would be a great review! But you H.O. tell it like it is and that's called integrity. Thank You Again !
Sootch00 says he will not post negative reviews of firearms he does not like. He just gives them back to the manufacturer and tells them what he does not like about them. I guess that is his right. I also like Honest Outlaw, but some of his criticisms are based solely on his HUGE hands. That’s like lefties criticizing a firearm because it’s built for righties
PSA Dagger Full-Size on their website with 10 mags for $380 right now, you can grab the compact with a threaded barrel as well
Did I miss where he talks about the reliability? Or is it implied that it is the same as the Glock?
They have a compact version with RMR cuts and many improvements, would you do a new review?
As a gnome myself, I removed the finger grooves on my gen 3 g19 because they didn't match my grip and now it's my favorite pistol
Don't know where you saw a price tag on Daggers of $500-$600. The only place I've seen these sold is on PSA's website and the prices haven't changed to my knowledge. The guns can only be sold when they have them in stock, which has been problematic up until recently. But the $300ish price has stayed the same with slight variations based on finish (OD, FDE), etc.
Bizarre that anyone would buy a PSA Dagger in the $500-600 range. Its entire reason for existing is the $300 sticker price. You can buy a Walther PDP Compact -- arguably best in class -- for $600.
@TheMetalGuy852 their uppers are good for the money
@TheMetalGuy852 maybe it was a bad batch? I have 2 of their uppers and both are running smoothly
Bruh they have them with suppressor height sights, threaded barrel, RMR/Doctor optics cut, cerakote , & multiple Slide cut out designs for $300-$369 on site, regularly now. They're even selling the slides with holosuns attached for like $420 & the grips like $100... Can't really beat the deal at this point! And them bundles with a rifle go crazy for the price!
I just got one today $349.99 with night sights🤷🏻♂️
I just got one of these at MSRP. I'm psyched! This guy gives great and honest reviews, keep it going!
I just ordered one at MSRP. It will match up well with my Sub 2000 and Extar EP9.
I'm confused why no one hasn't just waited till the dagger is in stock at PSA and have it sent to your local shop. You'd be out $330 for this gun and if you are on their mailing list they restock about every other week.
Bought 4 of the $300 models in Dec 2021. They still frequently go out of stock but usually come right back into stock within a couple of days. Free shipping right now as well. My FFL charges $25/gun for transfers. $325 plus tax. I'm very happy. The grip texture is agressive so tends to abrade your skin so make sure your EDC CCW holster has a shield between your skin and the gun. Many but not all Glock 19 holsters will work with this gun. The main problem is the trigger guard shape.
Time stamp on the price, just ordered mine today 5/18/22. $399 for the dagger with 10 mags included (5-27 round and 5-15 round). Can't wait to get it to the range.
Outlaw, you have to try the full size frame. A completely different experience and much better than the compact. Probably better than the 19x.
Just bought a complete ported slide on sale with threaded barrel, high suppressor sights, & rmr cut for 200$, and a complete frame for 100$. Can't wait to slap this bitxh together and hit the range.
U can get a lower for 60 bucks and they have some uppers with a threaded barrel, tall sights, ports, and there optic cut for 200
what do you want for 300 ? The key is no mal functions ! I like these reviews as i'm always suspect of cheap guns. Nice work
i got a 400 dollar package with the full size 19x style grip and threaded barrel/rmr cut slide for 280 dollars
I just bought the full size version of the Dagger, $400 and some change, RMR cut, threaded barrel and 10 17rd mags from PSA.
They have a sale for 250$ optics ready with the SWR SLIDE and gold threaded barrel. Looks super cool
Who the hell is selling this for $500+? I saw it on the PSA website the other day for exactly $300 on the dot for the standard model and $350 for the version with night sights.
PSA as added many new options. Full size grips, Full size guns, optic slides. etc.
Available for $299 now. $327 w/night sights, & $349 with optic cut out.
I picked up a PSA blem AR stripped lower & complete PSA Dagger frame Bundle Deal for $99.99 and a complete PSA Dagger Slide (minus the barrel and guide rod/spring) for $119.99. So, with tax & free shipping everything came out to $234.40, shipped to the PSA store near my house. I have a Glock 19 Gen 3 OEM Barrel & guide rod/spring from a Glock 19 that I upgraded a while back and an AR lower complete parts kit that I had bought as a spare parts source. Got plenty of G19 mags, so, the price of the bundle deal & slide was so good, I couldn't afford not to jump on it. I've got just over 100 rounds through the Dagger w/o any issues. It's running perfectly and I like the feel. I can empty a 15-round mag into a fist-sized group at 10 yards, so, that's good enough for me.
Honest Outlaw , I have to say that the palmetto state armory Dagger gives me a Big Smile every time I shoot it 300 dollars 349 with 10 ☆ 15rds magazine I am over 1000rds and the gun just works and plus I think PALMETTO STATE ARMORY IS AMERICAN 🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸 COMPANY ITS EVEN BETTER. THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE THE BEST PRODUCTS OUT THERE AND THEY BACK IT 100%.
IT WORKS AND ACCURATE.
This review is outdated and irrelevant at this point.
The Daggers have improved heavily since when they were first released and now regularly sell for $350 or less on the PSA website with multiple configurations available.
Awesome brother! I'm glad you did a review on this. I've been wanting one but didn't wanna get another POS Glock clone. And your review's are always trustworthy. And honestly I think the Glock is over priced and a lot of other striker fired guns are a better bang for your buck. And look better, such as the slide on the Dagger lol
@Frank Bonazza III Canik is an amazing value. Love my SFT and SFX.
I liked your 1k review except u said that u can't get them from PSA..and thy are only available as of late Sept 2021 for 500/600..well since early October 2021 I hv bought 3 of them..a standard one at $300 an RMR slide cut one at $380 and a RMR cut threaded barreled one w nite sites for $410 all from PSA..WOW!! I'm still waiting on the newest RMR cut slide/threaded one as I just ordered it today..I hv a G19 and luv it..but wow for the money this pistol is an absolute steal for the money..Great review tho bud.. I just subscribed to you!!
I got one with a case of some range ammo for 250
*granted I traded in my G3C at a pawnshop for it*
I actually REALLY fw it
i seen that psa is selling the dagger complete lowers for 100 beans. been considering getting one & putting an optic ready slide on it. i really dont need another glock but for the price, its hard to not get one. thanks for the awesome & honest review. always look forward to your reviews for an honest opinion on guns. theres alot of sell outs doing reviews.
Just bought a dagger slide with a docter cut on clearance for like 100 bucks. Bought a lower for 75 bucks. Already had a barrel laying around. Built a red dot dagger less than 200 bucks not including your optic of choice. Cheaper than most 22lr pistols.
Now you can get a dagger and dagger compact complete lowers together for $130 when that sale comes around. Then a complete slide for $200 when those sales come around too. So they're pretty good on price imo.
Just check Palmetto State Armory's Daily Deals. I even got the frame with Viridian red laser and the slide with a threaded barrel. 2 orders but $300. I got another with 10 15rd mags and carry bag for $359
Dude, love your reviews. Just bought a Taurus G3 due to your review. I love it. Would love to see you review the PSA 5.7 Rock.
I'd have a hard time not buying one if I saw it in stock for $299. I don't exactly need another polymer 9mm, but hell, it'd be fun to tinker with. Thank you for the review!
Incidentally, it'd be cool to see some kind of collab between you and Junkyard Digs, another great UA-cam content creator from the Ames area.
Slidelock is forward of the trigger guard and should not be confused with the slide release/slide stop lever.
Paid $329.00 for my Dagger with metal tru glo sights.
Sad you are comparing a 300.00 gun to a 600.00 gun. I love my 400.00 gun with 10 magazines (5-15 round 5-27 round magazines) rmr cut slide and thread barrel) better than my 600.00 glock
Love mine! and it felt great no FTF’s and it shot better than i was aiming! In my opinion, GREAT gun!
I just picked up my Dagger this week. And I got it for$299. :) Hopefully this weekend, I'll get to break it in!
What should I expect???
Got one a month ago for $349 from PSA. I've run it hard and it's been reliable with multiple brands and types of ammo. I wear size XL gloves and the grip fits me perfectly. My biggest complaint is the magazine. I threw it in the trash. For the $349 price point, its a great deal; if you don't mind bringing your own mags to the game.
Never seen any issues from the supplied pmag.. what happened? I've ran 500+ rounds in my 15 and 17.
Or for $290 you can buy a Taurus G3.
@@boblaws9851 people have mutplie guns.
@@Armymi33 Not sure what a mutplie gun is, but my point was that for $60 less you can buy a G3 which is a higher quality piece and has usable magazines. It has nothing to do with people having multiple guns, so what's your point?

Fast forward ten months where you can get a dagger with a “doctor slide” (rmr cut, upgraded sights and slightly different cut) and ten mags for $400. Lol. PSA are hero’s
Damn if the dagger is same price as the Glock I rather get the Glock.
It's much cheaper. That's kind of the point.

I recently bought a dagger by parts. Stripped compact lower rmr cut slide and glock 19 threaded barrel and gen 3 lower parts it and stock dagger upper kit got less than 320 in the whole gun. But at same time not everyone had the know how and capabilities to put any gun together safe reliably. Also the gen 3 glock 19 slide does work on the the dagger frame. Closest gum to compare the the stock dagger like in your video is the smith and Wesson sd9. Has same type of shitty hinge trigger and about 5.5lb pull. After doing the work and building a dagger the way I wanted with a 3.5lb trigger bar and apex glock trigger its a very reliable and very comfortable option.
Cheapest Glock clone is Smith and Wesson SDV? Or is it SDE? The one Glock sued them for.
Oh yeah, the sigma right? I forgot about that one
Stoger str 9 👍 it's work very well
The sd9ve is kind of a second generation from the original sigma that Glock sued S&W for.
Christmas restock! I got mine a week ago for $299
I also picked up a KS-47 Gen2 $750
Love PSA products never have had an issue with any of them
Why the hell would anyone clone a plastic gun with the worst ergonomics in the world?😉
Because its one of the most popular guns in the world and the ergonomics dont suck, learn to hold a pistol
To improve the shitty ergonomics of the "perfect" gun
a lot of people like the ergonomics, i personally don't like the blockyness. more of a 1911 fan
@@bloodking73 his profile pic kinda says it all. I don't think that thing you mentioned is going to happen.
@Chris G yes. ive never fired a glock because i have no intent to own a minecraft gun

Agreed, the hinge trigger sux, I think you can drop in correct trigger. I suspect the hinge trigger was put in for patient infringement. I am waiting for RD ready version for $50 more.
Fast forward a year later. Bought a sniper green dagger with threaded barrel and optic cut with raised sights for 350.00 lol oh yea with a zev trigger. ThenPSA drops everyone's jaws at shot show 23 with more options to come. Don't even get me started with there new line of rifles. PSA is bringing the thunder.
it was 19 min from the "in stock" email I received to when I clicked the link... sold out.
I just bought the lower combo dagger/ar lower for $99. Bought a slide for $189. That's $240 for a decent 9mm pistol. Good deal
What a difference a year makes 😀. I just bought a cool PSA slide in sniper green with lighting cuts and a bronze colored barrel for $200 and a PSA black lower for $50. The slide has some very interesting a useful cuts that a different from the mode in the video and also has a RMR optic cut. So $250 although that's without mags or anything else (like a lot of folks I have a few Glock mags kicking around). I might change out the trigger and sights down the road at some point. Maybe a Wheaton Arms trigger.
Wouldn’t mind one of these since I do like Glocks but unfortunately I live in California so only option would be an actual GEN 3 Glock for $549
Thanks for your video on this. I'm very intrigued by the Dagger and it's price point. I'm considering picking one up to complement my Gen 4 G19
Bought a Dagger with 10 mags from PSA. 5-15 round Mags and 5-27 round Mags. For $399
Between 5 and 6 hundred jeeesuz
$299.99
Still using the Sig P250 9mm compact with 21 round mags. It's not striker fired but once you get used to staging the trigger it's very accurate.
@Chris G - Lots of UA-cam videos on it. Nutnfancy is incredible at shooting it. I'm so used to it I'll probably never buy another handgun.
Thank you for confirming that the OEM Glock sights are the worst sights on the market.
I have a stock one. So far it seems to be just as reliable and accurate as my Smith and Wesson M&P. I don’t quite understand the hate.
At 1:50 mark the sound goes off and everyone checks their notifications 😂 had to rewind and make sure it wasn’t my phone.
Glocks are a cheap entry-level handgun that charges $200+ over what they're worth because they have brand recognition. I believe once time passes these Daggers will have the same brand recognized reliability for half the price of a Glock. Hopefully Glock steps up their game, or starts selling their guns for what they're actually worth.
I glue a piece of foam where the web of my hand interfaces and at the bottom of the front of the grip so it fits my hand with a normal grip angle and fits my 2xl hands.
I like the channel man and think your one of the better gun review channels but you gotta do something about the video quality.
I'm going to buy one in a few days. When someone buys a Glock consider the changes made to them. Imagine the expense. For me I shoot 45 acp the ammo is really expensive. The 9mm will get me more trigger time.
Just my opinion
I have seen a lot of glocks used for police and military training and if you dont pull the slide back to release it does wear out the slide eventually. We were always told never release slide from the slide lock. Honestly i dont think you have to worry unless you are putting 100,000 rounds through it.lol
I forgot about this gun, thanks for the upload!
For this gun I am more than happy with a really crappy trigger if it means the gun is even a bit cheaper. that is the most likely to be replaced part on this gun for me.
Put 200+ rounds through it then decide if you want a trigger. Smoothes out a ton. Completely different feel
This gun is on sale compact version $380 with 10 15 round magazines and for $420 if you get the full size with 10 15 round magazines.
For that price just get a Glock 19
On PSA now, they came way down. $380 for one milled for a optic and threaded barrel. 15 +1. I have a Glock 43. Should I step up to this so I can be comfortable with the round count or drop the cash for a Hellcat pro? Is the extra $250 worth it?
If you get them on sale they're even cheaper. I just scooped up a PSA Dagger Compact with RMR optics cut, threaded barrel, and suppressor height sights for $300.
So why compare the Dagger with a Gen 5 Glock when it has interchangeable parts with a Gen 3?
Just got this gun for 300$ on Black Friday havent shot it yet but I love the feel and might be my new EDC
Had a chance to shoot yet?
@@Catgat37 yes I’ve put about 200 rounds through it and I love it. Reminds me of a G19 but better in my opinion. The grip is perfect for my hand size and I didn’t have one misfire or jam the whole time I was shooting. I would recommend this gun for sure

Great review, basically if i want to build a glock, this is a better starting point. I know you've shot glocks for forever, but as a big CZ guy, whats stopped you from getting a p10 gun and doing a full kit on it? My personal experience is they're a better platform across the board, but i also know parts are harder to find. I just find it harder and harder to justify the Glock name as we get better guns, but i guess the simple question is: other than aftermarket support, why would i buy a glock over an equivalent from another reputable company? Thanks Chris, and keep up the great content!
I think he's fully invested in his P-07.
@@aldousorwell3807 oh yes, he's actually the reason I own a p07 (I'm significantly more partial to hammer fired) but since he is also a fan of Glock and has multiple modded Glocks, I was wondering if he had a particular preference to them for modification, or if it's something he just hasn't gotten around to/doesn't want to do.

I put the Ameriglo sights on every new pistol I get regardless of the brand
It cured the block look so that's a massive win. And it's not turkish.
If they have a suppressor-read + optic cut model at similar price range, it will be pretty decent.
