From the debut 1978 album, " Molly Hatchet" this was a reworked cover of The Allman Brothers tune, "Dreams". Danny Joe Brown with his rich guttural voice, delivers brilliantly with this southern rock, honky tonk rendition of perfection. The main guitar riff is perfect, with the pulsating drums and electrifying guitars blazing. Such a great tune. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Imadrummin. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I saw them live in the late ‘70s at a small club in Clearwater, FL. They blew me away!! They were a fantastic southern rock group/. Great musicians, great vocals. Sadly, all of the band’s original members are now deceased. RIP
A lot of bands I've missed in concert, a lot of them I've seen. I'm VERY proud to tell anyone I saw Molly Hatchet on the Flirtin With Disaster tour as a 15 year old. I had a great first summer of concerts my freshman year. First was Van Halen!
Great Southern Rock Band! 1978 this was on debut album self titled Molly Hatchet.Gator Country,Bounty Hunter ,The Big Apple among others are other songs on it.Then came Flirtin' With Disaster in 1979,so many memories of these guys,DJB great frontman! The originals have all passed away now,RIP to all the MH originals, great request and great reaction!
Absolutely love this song... The guitar rift is a great groove for driving... I personally like Molly Hatchet over Skynrd... I was groovin right along with you man... glad you enjoyed it
A great cover of the Allman Bros song. Molly Hatchett added some tempo and imo took a great song and made it even better! And this coming from a huge Allman Bros fan! Molly Hatchett is so underrated.
A red-neck rock group that managed to have a pretty decent career! I knew their keyboardist and I caught their performance in Atlanta around 2010 or so...not sure when. They were an eclectic bunch of rockers who knew how to make a good sound and they thrived on the southern rock scene...especially on the college football towns! They were a fun group!
I don't understand why they changed the name. I think it's a worthy cover and a unique take, but the original, live and studio by the ABB, is on my desert island disc.
I’ve always considered this a cover of a cover. Buddy Miles covered the ABB song. Then Molly Hatchet covered it, but closer to the Buddy Miles version.
Again Mr. Drummin you picked a favorite from a favorite group What a voice Danny Joe Brown had (RIP) They also had Incredible album covers I think a year or so ago I requested Flirting With Disaster and Harri loved it And what a drummer, yes? 😉🥁 🎶✌️🎵💜
This song along with Beatin The Odds, Flirtin With Disaster, Gator Country and Bounty Hunter were my favorite songs to jam to. I was around 13 years old then. Put the album on the turntable and playside one then flip it over to play the other side. I done it religiously after school. :😀 I dont think my neighbors were happy about it. 😀😀😀 Sure was fun to play.
@@Imadrummin awesome memories and a great band to jam with. I'm sure your neighbors didn't mind (🤞) Now don't ya' laugh I got Flirting With Disaster album when I was 10 and didn't have a stereo yet 😅 Probably my close and play record player 🤫🤫
This song is so good and, better yet, one I'm not familiar with. So, to hear it here, and that it was selected by Imadrummin, makes it that much sweeter. I have a feeling I am going to be playing this more than once today! The Outlaws, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchett, .38 Special: long live southern rock! Great selection and reaction fellas -- thank you! 👊
Well, my pleasure to introduce you to this one pncombies. It is a slick Molly Hatchet tune for sure and the signature voice of the late great Danny Joe Brown. 👍👍👍@@pncombies
This is one of my favorite tunes. The beauty I found in it was the fact that it had what I call that extra verse, where you expect the song to end but instead, it has a verse. Great tune to drive with.,
Got to see Molly Hatchet outdoors at the Alabama Half of Fame in the late 90's..Took my 13 y.o.son with me..I had to disappear in the back a few times to freshen up the buzz ..Loud show..but so good..
I saw them open for the Allman Brothers in 81 at the Boston Garden, i was blown away by how good they were live! Thak you Harri for another great reaction!
My wife worked the grave yard shift at a truckstop. One night their tour bus pulled in. She recognized them but did not bother them. She could tell they were worn out and tired from the road. They wanted some batteries for their walkmans. Thanks, this my favorite song from them.
Molly Hatchet just might be my favorite Southern Rock band, its hard to say, but, maybe, just maybe. "Fall of the Peacemakers" is my favorite MH song. Their Album Art is Frank Frazetta`s work and without a doubt he is my favorite Artist!
Got a band suggestion for you. The band is Blackfoot, they have five studio albums and almost all the songs I've given five stars on each album. I had gotten lucky and found the five disc digipack at a place called Half Price Books. Snatched it up immediately, after listening to them forty odd years ago they're in my collection again. Also a Molly Hatchet fan from back in those days and for now have the greatest hits CD.
Gregg Allman wrote this song, and recorded it with The Allman Bros Band on their debut album in 1969. Molly Hatchet rearranged it a bit for their cover.
Harri, If you would like to hear Danny Joe Brown belt it out try "Ain't Even Close" or "Flirtin' With Disaster" (Lifetime Hatchet Fan here!) Thanks for the Video!!
I always liked them from Florida I don't ever remember being on tour anything .They disappeared I like Gator Country .I lived down there doing Hurricane Cleanup .
Harri. If you want to stay in the same band would you do Bounty Hunter? We played it 100 years ago. It's amazing what Jack Daniels and Marlboro cigarettes would do for the voice
i read somewhere that Ed King of Lynyrd Skynyrd hated this version and said this is when southern rock died. I just think he had a thing against Molly Hatchet. But who knows, I love MH.
Harri, please hear the Allman Bros version of this too. The orig is in 3/4 time, which gives it an ethereal quality rarely heard in any rock music. Greg Allman was an awsome songwriter.
Initially the band was labeled as country rock but Dwayne Hlubek and Duane Roland always considered themselves hard rock almost like british metal like judas priest. they didnt like the label of southern rock. one of the few bands who had 3 guitaarists: dave hlubek, duane roland, and steve holland.
I bought their first two albums, MOLLY HATCHET - 1978 and FLIRTIN' WITH DISASTER - 1979, I liked their music, but I never quite liked the drums section (I never played drums, though).....huge difference in comparison with bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, or Allman Brothers Band !

Best cover ever for me. Love the ABB original. This is a great cover. MH killing it.

Hello this song is so good musically vocally, guitars duets such a cool beat the southern rock sound ✌️
ain't nothin wrong with a little Molly Hatchet on a Wednesday nite
My High School years. Every car was cranking this.
The Allmans called this song Dreams.
They played it in 6/8.
Absolutely love this song...
The guitar rift is a great groove for driving...
I personally like Molly Hatchet over Skynrd...

Southern funk groove. Good band
This song is like butter. So smooth!! That first solo is so smooth too
Some of my TOP DRIVING TUNES for sure, that whole album 👌
Once again Imadrummin is pulling from my playlist. Wish I had a dollar for every time I played this one. Our singer sounded just like Danny.
My pleasure. I know what you mean, we'd be rich. 😀
Ooooo lol the Flirting w Disaster band 😮 takes me back to my teenage years
Great song. Reminds me of high school.

Not much of a southern rock fan but this band is incredible! So tight...
Very much a driving song. Love it.

They did the original version of this song. You should listen to it !
But THIS is the one in My Library.
👍
Thank you Ima, what a great tune 🎉🥁🪇🔥 New to me but love it 🥰😇🙏
And Thank you Harri
Glad you liked it Agnete. 😀👋👋
This is a cover of Buddy Miles' cover, from the "Them Changes" album (1970).
I agree, definitely a driving 😎 song.
I got to hang with these guys back in the '80s. I brought the herb and girls. They were laid back. good times

RIP DANNY JOE BROWN, GR8 VOICE!!! Diabetes and the road don't mix, a true warrior 😅😊
This version owes a lot to the earlier cover by the great Buddy Miles.
They played at a jr college in Tifton Ga, ABAC in 1979 or 80. Great show!
Check out Boogie No More from these guys. Awesome band.
Danny Joe Brown (RIP) was one of the best Southern rock singers ever and this IMHO is better than the original Allman Brothers track.
Harri, If you would like to hear Danny Joe Brown belt it out try "Ain't Even Close" or "Flirtin' With Disaster" (Lifetime Hatchet Fan here!) Thanks for the Video!!
They did Gregg Allmans song proud, IMHO. Brings back great memories of H.S. man!!

Remake of The Allman Brothers song Dreams.
Love both versions

Oh yes, a driving song!

I would strongly recommend that you listen to the original by the Allman Brothers.
Hatchets is better 😊
Harri, the title states "Dreams I'll Never Have".
This is actually a cover of an Allman Brothers Band song: Dreams.
It’s funny how many people call this a “driving song” because that’s what I love to listen to while I drive. 3:24
Buddy Miles does a great version of this song also!
If you like this one I'm fairly sure you would like Boogie no More. Enjoyed the reaction.

Small tip to the big boyz...Allmans..😊
Saw em in 89... cuz i got dreams to remember....go back to the original....juice 😂.
I prefer this version of this song

You want traveling music, the only song I like from Blue Oyster Cult- Buck`s Boogie
It's hard to "out Allman" the Allman Brothers Band.
When it comes to Molly Hatchet.. I'm more of a "Flirtin' With Disaster" fan.
Damn 422 I'm late
The Allman Brothers version is much better, just sayin’👍
By leaps and bounds!
My band opened for them in in 79 for 5 shows. We did two of their songs but had to cut them lol. Great live band
Start with Flirting with disaster. Pure fire
Then play Can't you see. Thanks
