I still have my first iPad Mini, and I just need to make the screen stay on the thing after all the trouble I went to replacing it and its battery…and now I have. I just needed to remove the strips off the adhesive on the new screen that I got. We need more videos of that sort on here.

Screen Savers I'm typing this on an mini 1 on iOS 9.3.5 it is slow I purchased it a few weeks ago due to lockdown it's actually quite usable if you don't fill it with apps

I tried this repair on a mini 3 and it kicked my but. I am new at cell repairs and tried to use a soldering iron and wick for de soldering. I did not know about the heat gun method. Of course, I ended up ruining the logic board and two replacement charge port assemblies. 😌
For an easier removal of the Charger port put leaded solder on the gold contact points then remove the charger port with heat. The leaded solder will decrease the temperature needed to melt the solder off
I'm commenting on an iPad mini 1 I have had since 2014 one volume button doesn't work orientation lock toggles randomly and the touch screen doesn't work for a few seconds after restarting
Wow Hugh, I was wondering if it was gonna start ghosting while you were working on it I always have problems with the mini no matter how good you clean the adhesive some contact starts to eventually make digitizer go haywire
the donor housing looks more like an iPad Mini 2. Is that the housing you used? because the original housing was Slate Black like the iPhone 5, and the new one looks like a Space Grey.
you could just jailbreak it and install coolbooter. you can go as far down as ios 5 i think depending on the device and it really helps speed things up
I just bought a lot of phones and a iPad mini and Apple remote for £29 :) looking forward to fixing them. Hopefully it’s easier than this. Also just bought one of those battery boards.. the Kaisi ones. If anyone has some experience with them let me know lol I’m new to battery revivals

I mean you can still use these old ipads, they are good if you want a secondary screen for media, also they are practically free nowadays. I use a 2011 iPad as a streaming device and it works fine, but i wouldnt use it for much else, its pretty damn slow.
Sakarias Karlsson exactly, I’m good with this iPad 6th gen that I bought in 2018 but once it’s too slow for general gaming or just isn’t supported in general I’ll get a new one and just keep this one around for like watching UA-cam videos or as ebook reader or whatever
I've watched quite a bit of your videos and started repairing some family members' iphones/ipads because they crack the screen or need a new battery and I just wanted to say, thank you! You have the best videos on youtube when it comes to repairs and you're easier to understand when you give slight walkthroughs of how to do a repair.
I fixed my iPad mini first generation as well and I was surprised how unbelievably stupid it was glued together… it really isn’t Apple like to use adhesive to glue down the logic board or to solder the lightning port onto the device… I’m glad that it isn’t shattered and bent anymore and is functioning almost normally but the heat ruined the Digitizer of the iCloud locked iPad wich had the replacement Digitizer installed… I hope the newer iPads aren’t made that stupidly…
Good video but you should have Desolder Ed the charging flex using an soldering iron. It’s not just easy but safe especially if you are not very good at Hot Air Gun. I hope my comments didn’t offend you mate.
I picked up an iPad mini 1 locally and was able to get the digitizer and LCD replaced. However it was botched when I realized that the digitizer was spotty........
U should start an actual online store with shipping to Canada.... I would definitely buy. Id feel better that my money go to support u as well. Plus, i trust you would fix these devices properly. 😁👍🏼

Aww man, I wish you could repair my phone (Asus Zenfone Go ZB452KG)and Samsung Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0) so I could use it properly (and pay I guess) because the display would flicker when ever I turn it on and it will wouldn’t charge with a regular charger. I have to take out the battery and use a battery charger which uses 2 metal sticks to charge it with the gold thingy on it but the charger is very slow and my father dropped it by accident. And my Samsung Tablet doesn’t work anymore. It all the sudden stopped working for no reason, I haven’t touched it for like 1 or 2 months and I tried opening it to see what I can do. I opened it with my finger nails since it didn’t had any adhesive (because it’s ancient) and couldn’t really do anything. Anyways, it’s ok if you can’t, I don’t need them anyway
I had the same exact issue with my iPad mini 1st gen after installing iOS 9. Apps would crash constantly and would never actually run in the background, it would always reset when I double-click the home button and go back to it.
I believe you can use jailbreak the iPad mini on 9.3.5 with the Phoenix jailbreak and change the iOS version with ifile or something and downgrade back to iOS 8.4.1

check c8119 or c8120 for short to ground, most of the time 3v3 line shorted. inject 3.3 volt to c8120 and look for a hot component probably pmic.

Little tip when you want to wick the soldering apply new leaded solder and wick it then
I think the iPad mini one can go up to iOS 9.3.6. Because Apple released an iOS 9 update as well as an iOS 10 update.
just a suggestion what u can use is b7000 glue its a great adhesive glue in liquid form and is better than the tape

Put a wedge tip on the iron. Use tinning paste to prep the tip for use. The needle tips they put in with new irons are usually crap
for faster speeds, i recommend downgrading to 8.4.1, as the OTA is still signed.
Great work. I just worked on one of these today. Really unfortunate that iOS 9 runs so poorly on A5 devices. Almost unuseable.

use some low melt solder to get the old connector off a lot easier. Stops you from also dumping to much heat onto the board.

In removing the motherboard, rather than heat and pry it, d/c the battery, and flood under the board with isopropyl.

Instead of the adhesive under the glass. Use T-7000 black glue and some clamps to secure it even more to the frame. Otherwise superb work

The charging port is only soldered to the board on ipad minis. All the other models have a lego connector.
