iFixit needs to re-do its reparability scoring. The rating presented for Apple products now, is at best a 'disassembly ease' score. Reparability is now hampered by Apple by means of parts unavailability, tools availability, documentation availability, and software locks. If an typical independent repair shop is denied the right-to-repair, then reparability score is zero. Also, the physical orientation of the display board is not related to the vsync orientation of the panel. A ribbon cable changes the orientation of the board vis-a-vis the panel. On the other hand, vsync orientation if perpendicular to viewing direction, can easily result in visible jelly scrolling.
People will always find something to be mad about lol been using the ipads for years and i didn’t notice what this jelly scroll is all about because, yes the ipads deliver and they work just as fine.

Went to Best Buy and played with the MIni 6. The jelly scrolling was obvious and bothersome as was the scaling on the home screen. @@sergioyichiong7269 That’s because, as is typical, Samsung is far more consistent in rescuing failure from the jaws of success in terms of product quality. “Muh bendgate” isn’t the argument you think it is.
Apple : yeah we knew already our new iPad mini will have this, all LCD display's have jelly.
Consumer : but most don't have this issue, beacuse they design it so it didn't have jelly.
Apple : hey listen, were apple, you gonna buy it anyway, we saved a few bucks, and makes our 120hz models look better.
Consumer: but...
Apple: one more thing..(shotgun sound)leave no witnesses....
And why my 2012 surface RT have jelly screen? Explain.
Ayyyyyyyyyy deez apple haters that hate for no reason

Good to know that replacing a battery and that USB-C connector is easy now!!!
so much space for a headphone jack
there's plenty of space in the left side 3:14 they could've put a bigger battery...
All I can think about is a meme saying he can hear my dreams/nightmares
The battery pulltabs sound is so satisfying 😀😀
Is it the new HP Envy 14 on the desk at 2:25? How is it? Sorry for totally unrelated question.
It is! We made a video about it a while ago you can go watch if you want. I’ve been using it for a few months and I really like it. It’s not the most repairable laptop, but it is a great combination of portable and powerful. -TD
@@iFixitYourself Thanks. I'll watch the video.
If this is not the cellular model, what is that sim-card tray-looking thing at 1:16?
iFixit needs to re-do its reparability scoring. On the other hand, vsync orientation if perpendicular to viewing direction, can easily result in visible jelly scrolling.
can u add new battery inside the ipad?take out the old battery? give more juice?
People will always find something to be mad about lol been using the ipads for years and i didn’t notice what this jelly scroll is all about because, yes the ipads deliver and they work just as fine.
agree, I dont even know that it exist at the first place lol
The Jelly Scrolling is Causing Nausea in my Case. It apparently triggers something called Vestibular Imbalance in Some and Causes Headache or Vertigo or Nausea while Scrolling.
Looks Like they are using the speaker magnet for the speaker and to hold the Smart Cover at the same time that might explain why it stays behind when you remove the speaker.
Thanks for the like.😀
Why is everyone so surprised? Its been there since ipad 3
If you have to show the issue at 5x slowness then it cannot be a huge issue. I have not seen a single video that can display this issue at 1x realtime...
Yes I agree, I have tried 10 ipad mini 6s in various stores, I never notices the jelly scrolling atall when I went on texts website, Apple store etc. Never notices it atall in normal use etc.
I am sure if I slowed it down x5 with a camera maybe then I would see it? But we don't use a ipad /tablet like that! We just use it normal etc, so personally I just don't see an issue here.
So basically the jelly scrolling is a non-issue because you had to go out your way to see it and use slow mo?
For some people, yeah! Others can see it without slow-mo and it can be distracting.
unlike the previous ipad dont have this issue and this ipad is only new and i already seen an issue about scrolling type
I have the air gen 4 with no scrolling issues
So, is the jelly scroll noticeable
Seriously, I went to the apple store multiple times and I always notice the jelly scroll when I played around with the mini. I love the tablet so much but I cant ignore it...
99,99% of the people just wont notice this
2:46 no, no one does that, everyone uses ipads horizontally
Amazing insight. I never thought about how the phone refreshing can be improved.
What's wierd is how the low battery warning is at 10% and that there seems to be no low power mode on it
Went to Best Buy and played with the MIni 6. The jelly scrolling was obvious and bothersome as was the scaling on the home screen. Also, the volume rockers are not user friendly. $499.00 for a paltry 64gb and another $59.00 for a flimsy cover and over $100.00 for the pencil. Apple continues to rip off their base.
Its really noticeable and you will never be able to fully enjoy it, that's why I'm returning mine.
@@zorba4413 I have the Mini 5 and don't have the issue.
@@ljacobs357 is because your iPad and other don’t have the lcd screen if apple knew lcd screen causes that issue why put on the iPad 6 but who knows plus android tablet has the same issue too with jelly scrolling but is not that obvious
Have the Ipad Mini 6, and tbh even after seeing the video and how to replicate it.... I don't really notice it so I will just forget about it. For people concerned about using it while reading.... if you are using Slide to replicate a book, this is a non-issue even if you know about it.
The thing literally have no competition on its class anyway for people looking for 8" tablet, top-tier SoC, top-tier software support, top-tier screen, and don't mind spending money for it.
Totally agree with you. However, some will keep complaining. I was like: why don't you just buy a Samsung instead.
Yep,no android tablet comes close to the iPad
BRO IT’S JUST A HERTZ ISSUE IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN IT HAD MORE HERTZ. Currently it has 60 which the air has iphone pro max has and many other ipads and iphones have.
Bottom line: an iPad isn't your grandpa's HAM radio and you have no business opening it up.
I have a iPad Mini 6 and a 11" iPad Pro. The iPad Pro looks so much better and scrolls so much better but I wish it were smaller. I am still in my return period and I'm thinking of returning it. If I wasn't so steeped in the Apple ecosystem I'd replace my iPhone 14 Pro with a Galaxy Z Fold 4 and use that as my mini tablet.
So you don’t say in your tear downs if you are able to get these devices back together and working? I always thought that was the purpose of a tear down, to repair it! What’s the use if you destroy it and don’t even try to get it back together?
Maybe these should be ‘tear down and reassembly’ videos.
Ayo iFixit
Can you guys tear down a mouse? Obviously not a live mouse but maybe from Logitech or something? I'd be really curious to see what you guys would think about the repairability of mice.
Why didn’t you link the blue busters motion test in the description?
My iPad mini showing its own destruction must be terrifying
Where can I get a iPad mini 6 screen to buy???
Don’t worrty, the parts are probably serialized and you can’t swap them without the software keeping the device broken.
if you have to slow it down to actually see it is it really that big of an issue?
Where does the microphone and ambient sensory located??
Great video! And the display refresh explanation 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Is it possible that later models will have better chips if the mini is wildly popular and they run out of binned?
Thats the most satisfying pull tab ever

Just started a return for my ipad mini 6. The jelly scroll in portrait mode is way too noticeable to enjoy browsing content. I'm super bummed because I was really looking forward to this ipad mini refresh.
Sorry Englishis not my first language, is there other problems in the ipad, i want to buy it very much.. and it will cost me 583$ in my country even more... haha it's more than my salary for 2 month. so is portrait mode realy a big deal... cause i can't understand the whole video.. sorry for bothering u again.
@@naghamha2753 It depends how you primarily intend to hold it. If you are mainly going to hold in landscape then its not a big deal. Everything else about the ipad mini is fine, design, form factor etc. But since I was going to use this as a portrait oriented device, having the display controller mounted on the side causing the screen to have the "jelly effect" while scrolling is a huge deal breaker for me.
i really really love iPad mini 6. Thanks for the video that i can see inside of it . big battery
can the glass digitizer be replaced without the display panel itself ?
