Terrific... beautifully done... Unless you actually do this it's really difficult to convey how demanding a large project like this can be.. mine took five years of weekends single handed.. the hardest thing was not giving up.. it's ace now though.. nice electrics sir.!
I think a certain amount of ignorance towards the sheer scale of work actually helped me be able to begin! If I had know the truth I may not have even started 🤣
Wow! fantastic job! I am going to come back to this video every time I'm feeling overwhelmed and despondent about my boat refurb project (which is very often) for inspiration. You should be really proud. x
You've done a great job Bones, I think it always helps to have a positive attitude and at least a plan. It took me a couple of years to do the internal work on mine, as I could only work on it at weekend. The beauty of DIY is at least you know where everything is connections and routes. Thanks for showing and again well done.
Hi Bones, You did an incredible job with your renovation. You said you had no DIY experience? Hmmm, you are either a genius or you may have had a wee bit more experience than what you said. 😉 Anyway, my husband and I are doing a complete renovation of our 30 year old, 65’ boat. Luckily, my husband is an engineer by trade and has done our interior design, plumbing, electrics, etc. The question I have is this: did you have to have an inspection done before launching your boat, and did you have to have a certified electrician and plumber “sign off” on your work? Thanks in advance. Love your videos, BTW.
I genuinely had never done any significant DIY as I only ever lived in rented place where you can’t! I just watched a lot of UA-cam videos and a did a couple of short evening classes in plumbing, woodwork and electrics. My boat was a brand new ‘sail-away’, so had all the checks done in the factory. After all my work it just simply needs to pass the BSS certificate :) Hope this helps
Thanks for your reply. I have one more question. 😬 What happens in a BSS inspection? Does someone walk through your boat, look at the installation of systems, and check to see if everything operates as it should?
You can be very proud of the result, it's very different (not to my taste, but it's not my boat), very imaginative/innovative and it's obvious that you have put your heart into achieving what you wanted. Well done and thanks for sharing.
Wow. Absolutely fabulous! An incredible achievement. Loving the 'rustic, let's see what I make with this' approach, which is very me. You have created a wonderful home and a great channel - both have a calming and cosy vibe. Massive respect, Bones 😍
@@mynarrowboatlife I use a 5x55Wp on my campervan. silicon panels are good for home. besides, this technology is old and inefficient. The future is CIGS. how many panels do you have and what power? I have the impression that the controller is faulty. Victron doesn't make a good controller for CIGS panels. And one more question, what batteries do you have? LiFePO4???
The boat first hit the water on 13th August 2019, and I moved it to marina to start working on it right away

So you really had no DIY experience prior to this?? Did you intend to do the fit out yourself when you purchased it? If so, how did you muster the confidence to purchase a blank-slate narrowboat? Were you worried you wouldn't be able to do the fit out? I'm thoroughly impressed! You made it look easy. 👍
I decided to just answer your other questions here as well. Yes, the plan was always to fit it out myself as it was all my budget allowed. Having a blank slate was actually easier for me tbh, as I could make it my own. There were times when I doubted I could finish it, but I knew it would get done eventually as I have often set myself big challenges in Life. Hope this answers your questions 💪

It's inspiring and encouraging! I like the idea of some day fitting out a van just how I want it, and it seems like it would be very similar. Very cool! Thanks!
Incredible fit out! Steam punk vibes. You’ve done the study & got stuck in yourself, that’s soooo inspiring. I still can’t get my head around 12V electric 6 years into boat life 😂
OMG. You are so talented. I absolutely love the look of your Boat. Honestly the most awesome interior I have ever seen on a narrowboat and I have looked at all styles and plenty of them. New Subscriber. Thank you for sharing some of your life with us.😊
Would you recommend a company for the fabrication of the shell? Boat looks lush. I converted a bus with just recycled wood. So many hours ripping pallets!
Hi. Really fantastic results especially for someone without much building experience. I am interested in how you laid down the floor and wall panels. What type of frame is under the foam along the walls? Is that steel or a wooden stud-like frame that you cut the foam off of to hang your wall boards. As for the floor did you tuck the scaffolding boards under the spaces running along the floor and then nail the boards to the sub floor? Finally (I am trying to limit my questions to a reasonable amount) did you run your electrical gunnels under all the flooring? Thanks again. Would love to see the drawing plans you made.
You deserve to be proud. What an amazing journey and so generous to share it with us.Really inspiring and great boat building tips too , thank you Bones!
What an amazing job you did!

Looks awesome, great job
thanks so much! I’m very proud of the results
Fantastic great job well done you should be proud of all that work

So different to every other narrow boat I have seen. I love the sink.
I did want to put my own stamp on it! I'm glad that comes across
That is awesome very unique 💯💯I love it.
Glad you like it

Well done and clever you. Just goes to show what you can do with surplus wood, the boat looks great and very cosy ❣

So where did u get ur inspiration???
Mostly just things I like in Life, old pubs and Victorian aesthetics
bravo for CIGS solar panels .... super job

I have 4 panels about 500watts if I remember correctly. Yeah I do have lithium batteries 😀

From here, but be warned it wasn't cheap! In fact, it was probably one of the most expensive individual things I bought www.esse.com

The electrics can be tough to understand, lots of maths!
A very different interpretation of narrow boat decoration to my way of thinking but as a project it seems to be successful and good luck with its use
